Proposal: Blueprint: Liquid Zeal

Terminally self-killed. Josh

Add a new subrule to rule 2.2, entitled Liquid Zeal Distillery:

Cost: 5 Quicksilver, 4 Caffeine, 1 Gem    Power Requirement: 5
A Commoner who owns an invention that contains this part, and who also owns an invention that contains the Mark of the Demented Baron part, may spend 1 Quicksilver, 1 Caffeine and 1 Coal, and permanently reduce their Income by 1, in order to perform one of the weekly actions listed under rule 2.9.1 regardless of whether it has been previously performed that week.

The Sympathisers are small in number and limited in power, but boundless in zeal. It may rot the brain, but a rotten brain can be fearless in its prosecution of dreadful deeds.

(The idea that Hassan Sabbah’s Assassins were fuelled by hashish may or may not be apocryphal, but it certainly makes for a good story.)

for nice power, because it is not a Weekly Action

against I don’t see why this is limited to sympathisers; at the moment, sympathisers have pretty much every advantage in the rules (automatic spreading of counties, automatic re-invasion of Kent), and loyalists have none, apart from starting with more counties initially (and even then, the original proposal was timed to give the sympathisers a large bulkhead of counties just at the start, which would need immediate attention from the other players to counter it). At the moment, the deck’s heavily stacked in favour of active players becoming sympathisers because it’s just better, and inactive players remaining loyalists because they aren’t paying attention; I’m not sure is skewing it even further is a good idea.

@ais - Loyalists have one big advantage - for them, raising an army flips a county and all surrounding counties, while Sympathisers must flip counties one at a time. A well-placed Loyalist can cause havok behind Sympathiser lines.

against This sounds like a useful tool for rich, Observatory-owning Sympathisers like yourself, who no longer care about Income. It’s of less interest to us Junkyard-dwelling workaday Loyalists.

@ Kevan - it sounds like you’re just scared of a fair fight. Mark my words, you will be first against the wall when the Demented Baron comes!

[Josh] If the Demented Baron is in the habit of clearly labelling his secret plans with his own crest, I don’t think we staunch Loyalists have too much to worry about.

Alright, but given that Put just wiped out half of the invasion force in one go, there’s going to need to be some kind of ruleset rebalance otherwise this will be a very boring mechanic ^_^
