Circle Dispures.

I’m reverting two Circle Benedictions made at the same time by Josh. 11-1 because a circle must be eight tiles, and 11-3 because a circle must set the center tile to the color of an adjacent (not diagonal) tile. The CfJ shouldn’t have ratified those either since it only affected color choices “as required by its Motif”.

Fair enough in both cases.

Do you think I could reasonably retroactively set 11-3 to a different colour? I did claim the Circle benediction, after all, even if I did improperly apply it.

(I’m going to bed now, so I’m doing so, but will happily revert in the morning if the consensus is against.)

Is the thing here you processed a CfJ incorrectly, rather than took an action incorrectly?

I’d say there was only one way to shake out a CfJ of “see what legal colour Josh selected in this action and apply that colour”, where no legal colour was chosen - changing your choice after the CfJ has enacted is too late for it to do anything with that information.

If you want to revert it then revert it, I’m not fussed.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the CfJ - I think I took an action but did not legally complete it, and then came along a few hours later and legally completed it, a very translational kind of situation - but the CfJ refusing to use the “uphold” language does complicate things a little.

A Motif Squared didn’t enact until this morning: Circles were just a weird exception of “if you build one, choose a colour and nothing happens” with a one-off CfJ saying “if a valid colour was chosen, apply it now”. Having twelve hours and a Motif Squared enactment pass before claiming the Benediction would be stretching “immediately after taking a Tile Action”, I think, if that’s what you mean here.

I’m not fussed either, and doubt it’ll change anything in the long run. But we shouldn’t go into endgame with a knowingly quantum square on the board, that any player could choose to demand a recount over, so I’ll reblank 11-3.
