Proposal: Constructive criticism
Enacted 12-2. Josh
Adminned at 08 Apr 2010 08:09:18 UTC
Move Build Wall and Build Door from rule 2.3.2 to a separate sub-rule, entitled Constructions.
At the beginning of that subrule, add the following paragraph:
A Construction can be pulled down by any Colonist adjacent to it. The Construction’s energy cost must be paid again by that Colonust in order to do so, and all materials used in the building of the construction are lost.
Add the following to that subrule:
* Build bed. A Colonist may spend 4 Energy and 3 Wood to build a Bed and place it in a square adjacent to their own current position.
* Fill in channel. A Colonist who is adjacent to a Channel that does not contain water may fill it in by spending 4 Energy.
* Build Bridge. A Colonist may spend 8 Energy and any 2 Rock or Wood to change one square of water adjacent to their current position into a bridge.

Propose in haste, repent at leisure.
I’ll pop a bug fix up when the queue resolves a bit.

Nice idea, but I do not like the possibility to create a new lake easily. The South has the advantage of Rocks and the North of a river. That‘s fair…
I would vote for all the other points.

after reading it. Keba: The North and South are not enemies. They are the same settlement. Clucky and you are the only ones who support the division.
Klisz:
Also, it should define “pull down”; does this mean it becomes empty space? What about bridges?
Keba:
Darth Cliche: Yes, not yet. But I did not mean that point.
I meant it would be fine, if there were advantages “everywhere”. If it‘s the best to walk down, because there are Rocks, Large Trees and there could be as much water as you want to, everyone will walk to the South. Boring.
If you want the tribe to work as a team: Teamwork means sharing work. The Northern care about Food (because of Fishing and Plants) and the Southern care about Rocks.

@Keba - I see what you’re saying but it seems to make more sense to me to make new advantages to the north of the map than to limit the possibilities to the south. Remember, though, that this proposal doesn’t invent the possibility of moving water south - that already exists, thanks to the existing channel mechanism, and can be done quite non-intrusively by running a channel down one side of the map - and voting this down won’t change that.
Josh:
@Tiberias, as I said, a bug fix will follow. I’ll make sure that it reverts any naughtiness.
Tiberias:
@Josh, at that point I might change my vote. For now, I don’t know what I would be voting for, so I won’t vote for it.

@Josh: Hm, you‘re right. I may would for this, if there were North advantages. But “there will be North advantages later” does not convince me. I would propose some, but I don‘t have free slots and my next free slot will be used for reproposing the Food mechanism…
I knew you can “channel” the water from North to South, and I think that‘s fair…
> it seems to make more sense to me to make new advantages to the north of the map than to limit the possibilities to the south.
Hm, I do not agree here. Wouldn’t it be better, if the North has advantages the South does not have and vice versa? Otherwise the North would be equal to the South and that‘s boring as well.

That’s why I said “new advantages” rather than “rehashed old advantages”.

Josh: Well, but that would also mean “to limit the possibilities to the south.”. I’m sorry, if i understood you in a wrong way…
Well, there could also be advantages for lonley Colonist like spending less Energy to perform any action or something like this…
