If an action’s only effect is to update a sidebar GNDT variable, you take that action by updating the GNDT. Let me know if you need a password reminder for it.

The glossary also defines “random” events as being “determined by an appropriate DICE roll in the GNDT” so that we can all see the die roll (after years of us boringly having to specify “select a random plant by rolling DICEX in the GNDT where X is the number of…”).
