Proposal: DONE

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

The Pirate chooses a random Landmark that is home to the Pirate’s Treasure. This location is tracked privately by the pirate, and may not be changed until the end of the dynasty. Create a new rule, Victory Achieved.

As a weekly action, a hunter may choose a Landmark that is known to them or is public, and make a blog post to this effect. The Pirate must respond to this by taking action 1 below if the Landmark is home to the Pirate’s Treasure, and taking action 2 below if it is not.
1. The Pirate rolls a DICE2. If the result is 2, the Hunter who made the post is Victorious. If the Dice is 1,the Pirate must tell the Hunter that they have not found the Treasure in a comment on the earlier post.
2. The Pirate rolls a DICE2. If the result is 2 or 1, the Pirate must tell the Hunter that they have not found the Treasure in a comment on the earlier post.

Can’t I just… do that?

against We badly need something like this, but the Pirate has already buried their Treasure once - they chose a spot when X Marks The Spot enacted.

The dice also seem a bit harsh. Even if someone correctly works out the exact spot of the treasure (which is no mean feat), there’s a non-trivial chance they’ll have to take the action multiple times to actually win. During which time other players could react by simply naming the same spot…

Sci Guy has changed this post to not be a proposal any more, and added flavour text of “Can’t I just… do that?” - I thought this was illegal under gamestate glossary rules, but it actually might be an edge case. No time for me to double check this right now.

Looking at it again, no, the rule is quite clear:

“If no Hunter has commented on it, or if the only comments on it begin with “Note:” and contain no voting icons, an official post may be altered or removed by its author; otherwise this can only be done as allowed by the Ruleset.”

There are comments on this post, so it cannot be altered by its author (except for the flavour text, which is “not considered to be part of the post” and can be changed at will). I’ll put this post back in the “Proposals” category.
