Proposal: Draining the Swamps

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 27 Apr 2016 08:37:06 UTC

If the Boss made a comment on this proposal which included the phrase “It’s called X.”, where X is any word, replace “Nomicland” with that word throughout the remainder of this proposal.

Then, enact a new rule, “Zones”:-

The theme park is divided into a number of Zones. Each Zone has a Name (defaulting to “Nameless”) and may be Operated by a single Idle or non-Idle Imagineer (defaulting to having no Operator). Zones are tracked in a wiki page at [[Nomicland]], with each Zone as a separate page section and any information about that zone being written within that section.

If an Imagineer Operates no Zones, they may create a Zone with a one-word Name of their choosing, and themselves as its Operator, by updating Nomicland wiki page.

note: If Brendan were to pick a name which is a wiki page which already exists, we’d have to blank it.

Note: I remember it beeing problamatic to have something replaceable so freely in a proposal. For instance, it could be replaced with “Kevan has achieved victory” (not happening here, as it’s the Boss choice, but aren’t we leaving a hole for something like “the boss can freely edit the core rules”?)

I promise not to edit the core rules.

He can only use a single word, “thebosscanfreelyeditthecorerules” is not a single word.

He could name the wiki page “Ruleset” however, which would potentially be problematic.

If he choose the ruleset then it would get blanked and we would no longer have a game achieving him nothing?

it wouldn’t get blanked.

> If a wiki page becomes gamestate as a result of a proposal enacting, that page shall - unless otherwise specified - be reverted to whatever state it was in at the time of that proposal’s submission (and if the page did not exist at that time, it shall be blanked).

It’s already game state, so it wouldn’t get reset. But I’m not entirely sure how it would work so I’d rather just play it safe.

(The real problem here is “create a Zone with a one-word Name of their choosing” - although it’s nice for flavour, I should have remembered that we shouldn’t ever allow players to freely name bits of gamestate. If I make a Zone and call it “victory”, does owning that zone mean that I have “achieved victory”?)
