Proposal: Front Page Material (AGAIN!)

Failed, 5-9. Josh

Adminned at 12 Feb 2007 07:46:14 UTC

In Rule 2.3, insert after the list of gossip stories:

Any effects, excluding those effects which become exempt by future resolutions, incurred by a Gossip Story on an Actor shall be multiplied by an Amplification Quotient, when possible. This Quotient shall equal the square root of the Fame of the Actor rounded to the nearest integer, unless the Actor in question’s Fame is equal to zero, in which case the Quotient shall equal 1.

I still don’t like this use of “amplification,” since it does not specify any specific mathematical operation.

Yeah, but “multiplied” certainly does.

The phrase “whenever possible” might lead to some interesting consequences.

Well, not really complicated… but I am one lazy player.

against again with the “any effects”.  Seems just as vague now as it did the first time.  Disastrous if a proposal were to, say, change the accepted range of Fame from 0 to 100.

against Wait untill we actually have some fame changing effects and some idea of wether this will be fair, then repropose it.

against numerous problems.  What is a “resolution?”

against “When possible” is far too open to interpretation; there’d be annoying CfJs whenever a player did something that differed with others’ interpretations of “possible”.

Pardon me, a proposal is what was intended. Resolution just so happens to be the word I use out of habit.
And viewty, an operation is stated when it says “multiplied by an Amplification Quotient.”

against Take my proposal, for example.  The Fame of a role is dependent on how many Gossip stories an Actor has.  Depending on the particular interpretation that gets picked, it could end up either making Fame scores skyrocket or plummet.  Or, worse yet, VERY random.
