Proposal: Haiku Rules Fix

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 01 May 2010 15:55:24 UTC

Seasons come and go;
Time notations are needed.
New Dynastic rule:

Should “Murphy’s Law” pass,
Integers may be seen to
Fall into place thus:

Hundreds of hours,
Military time.  Votes come?
Hope springs eternal.

against I can see the intention, but taken literally this is proposing a new rule that permanently says “perceive all integers in the ruleset as having been multiplied by a hundred and expressed in military time”, which would detonate a lot of the core ruleset.

[Keba] Ais had proposed a mechanism rewarding proposals written as haiku; this seems a fair enough reaction to that. I appreciate that phrasing proposals as dense poetry isn’t very fair on players whose first language isn’t English, though.

@Kevan - The use of may in stanza two means that it can be done where it is appropriate in the ruleset, not at any time.

Fair enough, though.  I guess it’s all going to fail anyway.

[dbdougla] You call for it to be a “New Dynastic rule:”, though, which means that anyone can invoke it at their convenience. If I want to ignore the proposal limit, I can just choose to interpret “the Voter already has 2 Proposals pending” as “the Voter already has 02:00H Proposals pending” and go ahead (either because it’s now gibberish, or because I don’t have two proposals that were made at 2am).

[Kevan] I knew that. Well, the word “spam” may not be really correct here, but it was at least a bit annoying.
