Possibly broken? After a while everyone could become hunter and we could get 80 food each day… (If we wanted)

@SeerPinguin: After a while, and “could”, yes. Note only two Colonists could become a Hunter in one week, so it take about “Quorum weeks” until everyone could be a Hunter. But if the Hunters use their Power, they will be the only Colonists who hunt.
I do not vote for now, because I don’t know whether “A Hunter may Hunt even if another Colonist has hunted within the preceding 24 hours.” means a Hunter has a restriction of “once within a 24 hour period.” ?

[Keba] I was thinking that one person would hunt 3 times in a row, then let someone else hunt first the next day then hunt themselves until that person had the ability to become a Hunter and so on, either way, this has the potential of being wayy over powered, so

fwiw I don’t see ais’ or SeerPenguin’s complaints as a problem - if people want to lock down hunting, or if the player base wants to let the rest of the fortress go to rack and ruin in order to wipe out the local caribou, then that should be their choice (in the former case I think it would make a lot of sense for us to arrange matters so that anyone who wanted to be a hunter could have first dibs at hunting).
Keba’s point I accept is ambiguous but I would take the proposal as written to mean that Hunters hunt with the same restrictions as any other Colonist, except for the stated exception.

@Josh: the point isn’t that locking down hunting is possible, it’s that it requires really crazy timing of actions. You’d have people scripting to manage to get in first 24 hours after the last event to avoid a lockdown.

Josh:
@ais - I appreciate your challenge on things like scripting issues; because I have no idea how to do them, I never think of them while proposing. In this instance, though, it seems more like a square peg. Let’s say that Darth Cliche wants to be a hunter. Him being a hunter is good for the colony. If he then has to resort to scripting in order to become a hunter then that’s just bad management on our collective part; what we should be doing is collectively ensuring that the hunt action is reserved for him until he has performed it often enough to become a hunter.
In other words, I don’t see why people would script, when teamwork and good management can achieve the same desirable effect so much more satisfyingly.
Josh:
I don’t know why I’m arguing; this seems to have 11 votes anyway.
Josh:
Oh no wait only 10.
Kevan:
Only nine, I accidentally voted twice. It times out in an hour, anyway.
