Protosal: I was born for this role

Protosal: Our jargon for a half-baked proposal, soliciting ideas:
- Butler: Knows a secret passage between two rooms
- Cook: Can expel all non-SErvants from the Kitchen if he is in the Kitchen
- Handyman: Carries a flashlight.  May, when the lights are out, move as if the lights were on.

- Dowager: Is a fountain of gossip.  May ask the executor for genaeology as if under Rule 2.5.1 once every 96 hours regardless of her location.
- Attorney: If in the library, may ask the executor for genaeology under Rule 2.5.1 even if there are one or two other Guests in the Library
- Aristocrat: May expel all (but not less than all) Servants and Tradesmen from the room that he is in by causing them to move to a room that they could validly have moved to
- Physician: May improve the health status of a Guest in the same room
- Judge: Gets double votes on a Crisis whose object is to change the status of a single particular Guest (such as confining a particular Guest)
- Professor: May examine a room for clues as to events that formerly took place in the room (by private email to the Executor)

- Musician: Has an exceptional ear.  If the lights are off, knows whether any Guest moved into or out of the room that the Musician is in and has a 50% chance of correctly identifying one Guest who so moved
- Film director: Is a keen student of human behavior.  Once ever 96 hours, may ask the Executor to reveal the relative genaeology (per 2.5.1) of two other Guests who are both in the same room with him.
- Actor: Is a master of disguise.  Can somehow pretend to be another Guest for certain purposes
- Apothecary: Makes poison and cures poisoning, presumably
- Spiritualist: Can speak to the dead
- Mechanic: Same power as Handyman

Any ideas for the other missing professions, or for changing the ones that I have here?

Well, fairly nice but separates abilities.
I’m not really sure I’d like it this way… what if we would group people, not necessarily by the basic three groups.

Also, some abilities are better suited for finding the culprit, while others are for making killing easier…

Come to think of it, what about separate goals for people?

Thought about an ..A->B->C->D->E.. type of circular connection between people except for the murderer or detective (or possibly them too), but killing (A wants to kill B, B->C, etc.) wouldn’t be that good of an idea…
What about A and B want to ‘talk’ about something together (alone in a room), B and C too, etc. and if B gets killed out, A and C have to ‘talk’ about that…

Come to think of it… why am I just rambling about these instead of making a proposal?

I like it.

“expel” (in the case of Cook and Aristocrat) probably ought to be a Daily action.

Physician, as a Daily action, can change the status of one person in the same room (other than himself) from Wounded to Healthy

Apothecary, as a Daily action , can change the status of one person in the same room (other than himself) from Poisoned to Healthy

Athlete: cannot become Poisoned

Gangster: Cannot become Restrained

Housewife: same power as Dowager

A keyword for “daily action you can only take if the lights are on and you’re not Dormant” might be useful here.

Making the Cook and Aristocrat actions daily ones would make them rather pointless as players would just have to move in again. If we want to make them Daily actions (or “daily actions you can only take if the lights are on and you’re not Dormant”, as Kevan says), we might want to add something to their powers saying that “Non-servant guests cannot enter that room until the Aristocrat/Cook has left or until midnight, whichever comes first”, for example.

I think the rest of the powers are cool (including Spike’s). (^_^)

I just realized my example isn’t quite right, but I hope my point is still clear =P

I agree with Roujo; having Cook/Aristocrat as a daily action is pointless unless they prevent the person from moving back in for a period (so long as they remain in the room).

Otherwise, I like it.
