Story Post: Summer Reading

Long have I nudged around the tealeaves of my midafternoon brew. This is what they tell me. Obey these Predictions for your Birth Signs and you will gain fortune at the passing of the season.

The Eel
Distaff: Buy at least one Animal this summer.
Flax: Do not hold the job of Shepherd.
Spindle: Hold the job of Clerk.

The Bee
Distaff: Do not have a hearth in your home.
Flax: Hold the job of Farmer.
Spindle: Hold the job of Priest.

The Toad
Distaff: Gain at least one book this season.
Flax: Suffer the Plague in your home.
Spindle: Hold the job of Healer.

The Crossed Swords
Distaff: Have less furniture at the end of this season than you did at the beginning.
Flax: Do not hold the job of Smith.
Spindle: Do not die.

The Greater Triangle
Distaff: Do not hold the job of Builder
Flax: Have less meat at the end of this season than you did at the beginning.
Spindle: Have less money at the end of this season than you did at the beginning.

The Parapet
Distaff: Have at least one constellation from your birthsign visible in the sky.
Flax: Hold the job of Teacher.

Follow these forecasts and the great wheel of fate is sure to look upon you with benevolent eyes.

I believe I am uncanny, again(!), because I cannot have less then 0 meat, but I am supposed to have less meat at the end of this season then I had at the beginning, which was 0, by the Triangle Flax.

We seem to be almost through with this, I must say, while it sounded like an interesting setting, it still feels like I as a player had very little influence on any outcome here. :-/

There’s a bit too much luck going on in this dynasty, or at least not enough ways to prepare against bad luck, but I’ve been generally enjoying the setting and the horoscope mechanic.

I think i might be uncanny. As far as I can tell, there is no way for me to get an animal per parapet spindle

The ruleset hasn’t cohered as I would have wanted, I must admit.

Darknight - I don’t think you are uncanny, as you can buy an Animal from an Active Merchant, who can get one via the Summer rule.

There doesn’t appear to be any way of getting meat at all. Perhaps fixing up home items is one of the the missing ingredients here.
