Declaration of Victory: Third time is the WIN

resolved after 12 hours, final vote 12-0—Yoda
Oh, and it seems that option #3 wins.

Adminned at 14 Jan 2009 20:37:16 UTC

I have all three relics, so I win. Finally. No kidding.

I’d like to thanks Yoda and Amnistar for their cooperation, and special mention to Darth Cliche for his tenacity. As I stated previously, the next dynasty will be one of the three options I gave on a previous post. So, please include with your vote which of the three you would be most interested in playing, and I’ll try to have my AA as soon as possible after the DoV passes.

Heh heh heh…

Plus, if you want, I can make and upload a veto icon for the next dynasty.

for Finally, an arthexis dynasty!

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:04:23 UTC

for  I am tired of us fighting over victory.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:04:51 UTC

Oh yeah, and I’d like #3.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:07:10 UTC

I’d actually like #1, but that’s apparently hard to implement.

arthexis: he/him

14-01-2009 18:07:51 UTC

Make my veto icon a “!?” symbol :D

arthexis: he/him

Nothing is hard to implement for me, I am a genius (mostly on fridays).

#3 :)

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:14:27 UTC

I’m surprised everyone likes #3, despite everyone hating the Monastic Murder Mystery dynasty.

Oze:

It’s a slightly different everyone. :)

Clucky: he/him

14-01-2009 18:16:51 UTC

don’t forget you need to vote yourself Arth.

Also I don’t care about the dynasty theme.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:18:06 UTC

Let’s just hope Arth doesn’t go mad with power and become Mad King Arthexis.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 18:18:23 UTC

I mean, Mad King arthexis.

Yoda:

14-01-2009 18:45:10 UTC

for 2 or 3, but leaning more towards 3

Klisz:

14-01-2009 19:06:11 UTC

What exactly was 2 again?

Amnistar: he/him

14-01-2009 19:09:45 UTC

1) Timeshifting Dynasty: Based on the short story “The Last Question” by Isaac Asimov, the players are a group of AIs that must stop the destruction of the Universe. Several things can be done like making time go faster, slower, rewind it, but these actions create entropy. If the entropy of the universe ever goes over a certain mark, the AI with the lowest entropy wins.

2) Ambiguously Minimalistic Dynasty: Short proposals are declared minimal, and players are rewarded for making minimal proposals, but punished if those proposals are not useful. Player complete to make Emperor made rules shorter (known as Unclean Rules), which gains them points. Players can make their enemies rules “Unclean” by discovering design errors in them.

3) Guess the Theme Dynasty: Only the Emperor knows what the Dynasty is about, and he ain’t telling. Proposals made by the Emperor are known as “Hints” and Players can make “Guess Posts” about the nature of the Dynasty, but they are limited in their number of tries. The first Player to guess what the Dynasty was about wins.

And looking at them, 2 looks like the best one to me.

Klisz:

I have a plan involving everyone except me idling.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 19:17:29 UTC

Not that my plan has anything to do with the dynasty ideas.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 19:54:45 UTC

3 more to quorum, and about 9 hours left.

Wakukee:

Or maybe my Veto icon should be a sad face which looks like the against icon :P (IE white box with red borders and a red frowny face?)

Wakukee:

14-01-2009 22:33:40 UTC

how about a smiley face? of a nice red FAIL

Klisz:

14-01-2009 22:49:33 UTC

Yoda: I have an entirely different plan.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 22:54:42 UTC

My plan is to propose this as a core rule:

“Darth Cliche may edit the ruleset at any time.”

And wait 12 hours for it to pass.

Qwazukee:

14-01-2009 22:56:39 UTC

Who’s going to write the history for this dynasty? Or am I getting too far ahead?

Rodlen:

14-01-2009 23:49:30 UTC

Darth, that would fail.  All proposals need at least 2 for votes to pass.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 23:55:17 UTC

...dammit. Oh well. Maybe I’ll be able to find someone else deranged enough to vote for it.

Rodlen:

14-01-2009 23:55:54 UTC

Okay, my smiley face veto is ready.  I am uploading it right now.

Klisz:

14-01-2009 23:56:18 UTC

Or I could do it in a CfJ.

Rodlen:

14-01-2009 23:57:30 UTC

DAGH!!!

Even though an upload path has been set in the Blognomic preferences, I can’t upload.

I will still show the image.

Attempting another method.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:10:19 UTC

Choose one, or make a new one, and I’ll give it to Trombone to be turned into a veto icon.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:10:31 UTC

I like them.

By the way, 2 hours left.

Klisz:

darth don’t use the veto k?

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:13:42 UTC

What’s the problem?

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 00:13:47 UTC

Hmm, I think if the border around the red one was a different color, it would be less-likely confused with the X.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 00:15:05 UTC

I think he’s trying to get it out of his system quick because it will soon be gone forever. . . .

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:16:03 UTC

Huh?

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:16:22 UTC

Hmm…I’m starting to think that a dynasty based on Tom Lehrer’s songs would be fun…

Amnistar: he/him

15-01-2009 00:16:28 UTC

Agreed, I like the frowny face, b ut a different collored border.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:18:47 UTC

Who’s Tom Lehrer?

Clucky: he/him

15-01-2009 00:22:40 UTC

Why do we need a new Veto icon?

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:23:01 UTC

Tom Lehrer: Guy who wrote such songs as “We Will All Go Together When We Go”, “The Elements”, and other odd songs, often involving nuclear war.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:24:02 UTC

We need a new veto icon because the one we have was made for a specific colour scheme.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:25:21 UTC

I liked the one with the original red edges the best. The black edges are good too.

Wakukee:

15-01-2009 00:26:15 UTC

Tom Lehrer! I totally agree, Rodlen.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:26:34 UTC

In a rush, I used MS Paint, which doesn’t work right on my computer for some reason.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 00:27:54 UTC

HAHA pink edges are silly, the black edges are good. Tom Lehrer dynasty would be hilarious, “National Brotherhood Week” ftw.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:29:41 UTC

Bringing back the Bomb rule, but with a few lines from We Will All Go Together When We Go, would be great.

Wakukee:

15-01-2009 00:36:23 UTC

Proposal: New Math
Due to a convenient addition error, multiply all citizen’s (equivalent of GG from this dynasty) by 1.5

Klisz:

15-01-2009 00:37:14 UTC

There isn’t always an equivalent.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:54:56 UTC

Proposal: The Old Dope Peddler
That would create the main “you want a lot of this” stat for the dynasty.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 00:56:12 UTC

Proposal: Call it, please, research.

Gives some sort of bonus for plagarizing from other proposals and dynasties.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:06:11 UTC

I presume the names of your hypothetical proposals are names or lines from songs made by Tom Lehrer?

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:06:11 UTC

The Mad King of the DDA, Qwazukee, vetoes the above proposal because we are all a single organism trying to escape a petri dish.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:06:58 UTC

Rodlen is the Mad King of the DDA, not Qwazukee.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:08:35 UTC

No, no, no, we already were able to get Mad King Anthony as a planar entity.  We don’t need another mad king.

And Darth, you are correct.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:08:56 UTC

I’m no mad king.  I’m the DDA Commander.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:09:44 UTC

I was plagiarizing Rodlen’s title, duh.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:09:51 UTC

Darth was correct about the Lehrer part, not the Mad King part.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:10:27 UTC

Along with several other things.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:17:10 UTC

Well, according to Yoda, you were intentionally keeping your first dynasty at a stop. I consider that to be Mad, and you’re essentially the King by another name (like the Lord Protectors of England), so you are therefore a Mad King from my point of view.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:18:43 UTC

He’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad “King.”

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:22:22 UTC

There were a few…issues…with the victory condition planned (abusable in multiple ways).  A few of them, I admit, were minor, but the vetoes were mostly valid.

In Blognomic, the term Mad King refers to someone who vetoes every little proposal made…

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:27:14 UTC

Plus, Yoda’s attempt to win had been made before a victory condition was proposed.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:38:44 UTC

Plus, really.  Suddenly becoming extremely angry because of ONE veto on a slightly suspicious proposal (the first victory condition attempt had been vetoed after it was self-killed, and the third was supported, though it was an obvious “I hate hate haet that veto and therefore will do something very weird and useless” proposal.  The second had a minor problem that wasn’t very important, but was why I vetoed (at that time, I thought it was important), but also had a slightly more important flaw that I just noticed looking back in the archives.  Minor flaw: depended on unfinished rules.  Slightly more major flaw: earlier part prevented DDA commander from getting awards, yet later part showed it was intended for the DDA commander to be allowed to get all but four awards.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:39:09 UTC

And sorry about the crazed rant.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:40:39 UTC

Wow, 87 comments.  That was quick.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:42:58 UTC

That’s a lot. I wonder what the record is?

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:48:16 UTC

This is the record. The old record was 74.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:49:53 UTC

Come on, let’s get this up to 100!

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:50:38 UTC

One more comment added, team.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:50:59 UTC

100 comments would aid in dimensional stability.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:52:14 UTC

I know what to do to get this to about 200 comments:
Let’s play a game of nomic, within this post’s comments.

Wakukee:

15-01-2009 01:52:47 UTC

no.

Klisz:

15-01-2009 01:53:46 UTC

Why not?

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:54:00 UTC

No.

Qwazukee:

15-01-2009 01:54:20 UTC

Ok, I join the Gno within “Declaration of Victory: Third time is the WIN.”

PS How did you find out what the record was?

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:54:25 UTC

Because.

Rodlen:

15-01-2009 01:54:59 UTC

NO, Qwazukee.
