Proposal: To the Nines

Passes 4-0. Enacted by Brendan.

Adminned at 24 Nov 2015 18:16:29 UTC

Add the following cards after the cards of rank eight, in “Drawing”:-

  • Nine of Cups - While active, any Reader may Invoke any Aura possessed by another Reader.
  • Nine of Swords - When drawn, all Reversed cards become Upright; then, any Reader with the Aura of Dreams loses all of their Auras.
  • Nine of Pentacles - While active, any Reader may replace a card in their Discard pile with an Unrevealed Pentacle Card of the same or lower Rank.
  • Nine of Wands - While active, a Reader with exactly five Auras may gain the Aura of Power.
  • The Hanged Man - When drawn, all Upright Major Arcana in the Spread become Reversed. While active, if a Major Arcana card would be drawn Upright, it is instead drawn Reversed.

the rules for auras make it difficult to gain new auras, don’t they?
“When a Reader Invokes an Aura, they may either gain that Aura (if they have no Auras), or replace an Aura they already have with that Aura”
that makes the nine of wands somewhat useless, doesn’t it.

Invoking is one way to gain Auras, with the restriction that it has to replace an Aura you already have, but there are various other rules which allow you to just “gain” Auras. Most significantly, a successful Divination allows players to gain several Auras in one go.
