Proposal: To vote on a suitable ending

If anyone has won the dynasty between the time this proposal was proposed and the time it is enacted, this proposal does nothing.

Create a new dynastic rule, named “Ending the Groundhog Dynasty”:

For the purposes of this rule, the Phil is a Bill Murray.

Each Bill Murray may once each create a Story Post with [Rescue Suggestion] in its title, outlining a series of changes that they would like to be made to BlogNomic’s ruleset or gamestate in its body; such story posts are Rescue Suggestions.

48 hours after this rule came into existence, anyone can once (altogether amongst all Bill Murrays) create a story post called the “Rescue Vote”; each Bill Murray may make one comment on the thread voting for a Rescue Suggestion (identifying it by its name, its author or both). At any time 48 hours or more after that Story Post came into existence, if one Rescue Suggestion has more counted votes for it (a counted vote is a vote that hasn’t had another vote by the same Bill Murray cast after it in the same thread) in the Ending Vote than any other Rescue Suggestion does, any admin may make the changes outlined in that Rescue Suggestion to the ruleset and gamestate. Upon doing so, if this rule still exists, it repeals itself.

In other words, instead of voting 50% FOR/AGAINST each successive proposal that people are making to end or continue the dynasty, we put all the suggestions on the table first, then vote on which to adopt. This is the process that B Nomic uses to resolve problems when it’s clear that the normal methods aren’t going to work; hopefully, it will work in BlogNomic too.

They can’t pass if they’re vetoed. HINT HINT

Explanation: This will allow a very small minority to pick the direction of the next dynasty, instead of a real consensus.

How so?

arth is somewhat right here, we’re more likely to get a larger number of people agreeing on something if one of the “new dynasty” Proposals passes. But if they all fail, this is acceptable.

@arthexis: that will only happen in a situation where people can’t agree on things. And in that case, no other proposal would have a chance of passing. In other words, this proposal will only help in the situation where it’s needed; otherwise, the new Phil(s) will just be able to veto this proposal and/or repeal the (dynastic) rule it creates.

@ais523: I’d rather not risking this causing an extremely short dynasty.

I don’t see what you have against proposals, yuri.  1/player/day seems about right to me.

I also dislike the new veto rule.  It encourages dumb proposals
