Proposal: Unclog the queue

self-killed—arthexis

Adminned at 07 Sep 2008 19:06:18 UTC

In rule 1.5 (“Enactment”), replace the following:

The oldest pending Proposal may be failed by any Admin, if any of the following are true:-

  * It has enough AGAINST votes that it could not be Enacted without one of those votes being changed.
  * It has been open for voting for at least 48 hours and half or fewer of its votes are FOR.
  * It has been open for voting for at least 48 hours and has fewer than 2 valid votes.
  * The Candidate who proposed it has voted AGAINST it.
  * The President Thog has voted to VETO it.

(Currently, if I make 2 proposals with tiny errors, I can self-kill the proposals right now, but I’m still blocked from making new proposals for about 2 days, until all proposals before mine were officially enacted or failed)

Its your own fault you made a crappy proposal. In games where failed proposals effect game status (like, the poster loses cash) then not having any set order for an admin to resolved failed proposals in could actually have an outcome in the game.

I need time to think about this. I don’t like it (because of a naggging feeling) but I won’t vote X yes.

I’m okat with a vetod proposal being failed at any time, but the SK proposals eing able to fail at any time just discourages people from taking the time to write up proposals.

@Amnistar:
The other idea I had for this problem was leaving the vetoed and self-killed proposals in the queue but allow everyone to have at most 4 proposals in the queue, of which at most 2 are neither vetoed nor self-killed. Would that be better?

against I agree with Amnistar. If it only included Vetoes it would be ok. It would also be ok if the Voters had some saying on it (if there was some ways for voters to mark that a proposal needs to be resolved ASAP rather than on it’s turn, then again, that’s what a CfJ is)

I support Arthexis’ followup proposal. It’s better than this one.
