Proposal: Wealth beyond measure II

Self-killed by alethiophile. Failed by Angry Grasshopper.

Adminned at 05 Feb 2007 15:09:47 UTC

Add a new rule called Wealth:

Each Actor has a Wealth number tracked in the GNDT. Wealth is measured in X units.

All comments containing For votes should also contain a nomination for the unit. The nomination that is mentioned most will replace “X units” when this Proposal is enacted. If there is a tie, the winner is decided at the discretion of the Investor.
We can add salaries, movie jobs and other wealth-related things later. This creates a good and realistic framework.

Currency makes perfect sense for a Hollywood-genre game.  In the real Hollywood, there are several ways of keeping score: how much money you have, what’s your asking price for your next picture, how many awards or nominations you have, who you’re banging, and how quickly can you get a table at Spago.

I propose we name the currency…influence within the Church of Scientology…just kidding folks. This looks better than its predecessor.  for I’m for the pound sterling or the yen. Just for fun, you know.

I’m fine with money as long as it is not the ultimate goal. Actors who move to Hollywood are generally extremely poor, and they would have to work a job on top of auditioning for bum rolls to try to make the rent check every month. Money won’t help make you a star really, but it would help you survive.

spikebrennan:

04-02-2007 16:22:26 UTC

Fine, Megabucks, for the sake of unamity.

Hix:

for You have incurred my wrath for arbritrarily trying to disallow those of us who vote against from having a say in the naming of the currency.  Fortunately (as I assume that Excalabur noticed), you do not require the comments to contain _counted_ FOR votes.  I nominate “Spam” for the unit of currency.

Hix:

alethiophile:

The leader of the pack for currency names is “megabucks”, with 4. Next, we have Pounds Sterling, with 3 (that’s my nomination). I’m not counting “spam”, because that’s dumb and doesn’t come from people who voted “for”.

ChinDoGu:

04-02-2007 22:52:04 UTC

for  against Spam.

I was also agrivated by the people voting against not having a say.

alethiophile:

04-02-2007 23:40:25 UTC

If you don’t want it to happen at all, what’s the point of your voting on what to call it? “I don’t want it to happen, but if it does happen, I want it to happen this way.” Sort of weakens your position, doesn’t it?

ChinDoGu:

05-02-2007 00:03:14 UTC

I dont want it to happen, but if it HAS to happen, I should have some say in what its called.  Since If it does happen Im still going to be playing in a game with it in.

Spam is a protest vote, since the proposal was deliberatly written so that those who dont want it done get a say in what it is called if it does pass.

Angry Grasshopper:

05-02-2007 01:54:29 UTC

Not sure about that. The text reads

All comments containing For votes should also contain a nomination for the unit.

not

All comments containing counted FOR votes should also contain a nomination for the unit.

Read it literally. ;)

ChinDoGu:

05-02-2007 01:55:12 UTC

Actually by the definition of the rules a vote is any vote at all.  It is just not counted if there is a more recent one.  Since we have not been limited here to counted for votes, I think that this is valid

Angry Grasshopper:

05-02-2007 01:58:07 UTC

Yeah, ChinDoGu, that seems right to me. One may of course raise a Call for Judgment if there is any disagreement on that bit afterwards.

Okay, seriously, people stop posting multiple comments or comments with a non-counted For vote. I think you could make a case for these people being called trolls—they’re clogging up a vote by voting multiple times and making joke nominations for currency name.

alethiophile:

05-02-2007 17:05:49 UTC

As far as I can tell, so far, it’s 8-6 against. People have confused the vote with multiples and CoVs, so tell me if I’m wrong.

Josh: Observer he/they

05-02-2007 17:09:13 UTC

Uh, I’m not sure that that’s entirely fair, alethiophile - they’re performing a valid game action, and this game in particular has a long history of exploiting unintended consequences of hastily written proposals / rules. Furthermore, I think that Grasshopper and Chronos both have a substantial enough play history to make accusations of trollishness faintly absurd. If you don’t like their joke - and admittedly it’s lost some of its charm for me, too - then simply self-kill it and re-propose it, with tighter wording.

Angry Grasshopper:

05-02-2007 19:40:58 UTC
