Humble pie My sincere apologies for abandoning the last dynasty, provoking its rather unsatisfactory conclusion. I’d had a week’s holiday booked for ages and knew I was going to be without internet access so am completely without excuse. Thelonious 09/26/06 0
I’m back Please could somebody unidle me. Thelonious 09/23/06 4 09/26/06
GNDT password I’ve forgotten the GNDT config editor password that somebody kindly sent me the other day. Please could somebody send it to me again. Sorry. Thelonious 09/15/06 2 09/16/06
Regrouping I have removed Piano from the Strings group and added it to the Percussion group. Thelonious 09/15/06 0
New Principal Oboe I have appointed Rodney as Principal Oboe of the orchestra under rule 2.1.1.2. Thelonious 09/15/06 0
Double Doh I’ve just noticed that the ruleset now contains the following (in R1.7). A non-official post may not, through editing of the blog or otherwise, be changed into an official post, with the following exception. Whilst a non-official post has been posted for less than five minutes and has no comments,… Thelonious 09/13/06 3 09/15/06
The Score, Edition II Add a new rule titled “The Score” with the following body. Any musician who simultaneously meets all the criteria below is said to have Mastered the Score . A musician who has Mastered the Score has achieved victory.  e must be playing an instrument (other than “-”). e must have… Thelonious 09/13/06 1 09/13/06
Lost proposal I’ve just spent ages crafting a proposal. I previewed it several times and eventually submitted it. However, it isn’t showing up anywhere. Can any of you clever admins get it back for me? Thelonious 09/06/06 2 09/07/06
Let’s all play in time The new time signature is the, somewhat unusual, 4/2 time. Thelonious 09/06/06 0
Who broke it? When I got in this morning, enacted proposals didn’t have the tick icon next to them any more. I think this is because somebody changed the list of valid statuses to include Enacted instead of Passed but failed to update the stylesheet. I’ve fixed this by modifying the stylesheet as… Thelonious 09/05/06 3 09/06/06
Help I’ve just enacted a proposal that called for a new column in the GNDT but I’ve realised that I haven’t been given the necessary password. Please could somebody send it to me. Ta, Your conductor. Thelonious 09/04/06 1 09/04/06
Clean slate I think that at the start of a new dynasty, the new conductor should be able to modify the ruleset however e wishes. But, I suspect that some of you disagree. So, before I go to the bother of crafting a carefully worded proposal, I’m hoping that you might like… Thelonious 08/30/06 8 08/31/06
Ascension Address: Ascension Address With Thelonious’ final tweak, the timeline began to unravel. Building momentum, the effects rippled further and further out from their origin in 1475 until they reached 2059 when, with a mighty bang the time bomb exploded. All was still. All was dark. Then, for each traveller, the sound of rushing… Thelonious 08/26/06 2 08/29/06
Thelonious’ Log (4) I march (1475/6/9) and “Having spent the night with Michelangelo and family, Thelonious departs - forever.”, [Thelonious] [Michelangelo]. Node event added at 1475/6/9. Thelonious 08/25/06 0
Tidy up Aran’s Heisenburg Loop effect is much messier than the rest of the ruleset. I’d like to fix that up - and I warrant that I haven’t changed the effect of the rule - just the spelling, punctuation and grammar. Remove all the subrules of “Temporal Uncertainty” and replace them as… Thelonious 08/25/06 1 08/25/06
Thelonious’ log (3) I jump (1475/6/7) and swirl (2016/6/7) and march (1475/6/8). Then (1475/6/8), “Thelonious visits the new-born Michelangelo and gives him a paintbrush.”, [Thelonious] [Michelangelo] [Paintbrush]. Thelonious 08/24/06 0
Sufficiently warped I do a warp of sufficiency (1526/1/21) then swirl (2011/6/7). Then “Thelonious begins to poison the mind of Frances I against the week-old treaty of Madrid”, [Thelonious] [Francis I]. Node event added (1526/1/21). Thelonious 08/23/06 0
Collision I jump (1666/6/7), ladder (1666/6/11) and on arrival cause aran’s displacement (1666/7/1). Node event (1666/6/11) redescribed. “Thelonious displaces another traveller and sees a somewhat bewildered Sir Isaac Newton disappearing in time.” [Thelonious] [Newton] [Anomalous] Thelonious 08/22/06 0
Thelonious’ log (2) I jump (1893/6/7) and march (1893/6/8) both with my Companion and then I swirl (1666/6/7). Then (1893/6/8), “Thelonious visits Thomas Edison’s recently opened motion picture studio - the first in the world”, [Edison] [Thelonious] [Film]. It was a truely inspirational place to visit - seeing a great inventor’s work. Node… Thelonious 08/21/06 0
Thelonious’ log I do miss Rose’s company so I range move to join her (1440/11/25). Feeling vulnerable we immediately march (1440/11/26). Finally, we are able to celebrate our re-union. Node event added at 1440/11/26, “Thelonious and Rose celebrate their reunion.”, [Thelonious] [Rose] [Reunion]. Thelonious 08/18/06 3 08/21/06
Wiki fiddling I’ve modified Template:NodeEvent and Timeline in an attempt to be able to get more of the timeline on the screen at once and thereby reduce scrolling. The only changes I’ve made are formatting changes. I haven’t modified the dates, descriptions or keywords of any of the node events, nor have… Thelonious 08/17/06 1 08/17/06
Boing I Continuum Jumped (having not swirled yet in this set of actions) and then Continuum Swirled and then Time Marched (since I exist). I did all this so I could once again fix a lack of accreditation in the timeline. It was in fact me, Thelonious, who obscured Bucky’s view… Thelonious 08/09/06 0
Credit where credit’s due It was Thelonious who submitted the blueprints for the rebuilding of E.J. but e had not been appropriately acknowledged. That’s fixed. Node event changed. Thelonious 08/08/06 0
Support for local proposals I was wondering about making a proposal that requires local proposals to have a FOR vote from at least 1 traveller other than the proposer (and meet all the other conditions) in order to pass. This would prevent proposals from passing just because nobody could get there to vote it… Thelonious 07/31/06 6 08/01/06
Hermits I can’t explain why, but I have a horrible feeling about Bucky’s two local proposals. E seems to by trying to seal off the areas around both eir TL and eir CTL so that nobody else can reach em. The most obvious use for such an area (around the TL)… Thelonious 07/31/06 2 07/31/06
t=1994 By my formula. Thelonious 07/21/06 0
Bucky’s idling scam So, whilst I was away on holiday, I see that Bucky attempted an idling scam and is now (quite rightly) failing to find an admin to unidle em. Despite being alerted to the scam, I don’t see how it works or what the benefit will be. If somebody explains the… Thelonious 07/18/06 5 07/18/06
Seeking formulae clarification I don’t fully understand the language in the first paragraph of R2.9. I think the following is legal (i.e. doesn’t fall foul of the transcendental or indeterminate exclusions) but could somebody clarify. t+(x/x)=t i.e. you could often increase time by 1 year (provided that x isn’t 0). Thelonious 07/07/06 6 07/07/06
Reverting Coldspell’s TL Coldspell, I’ve just reverted your TL because you updated it illegally. There’s no rule that allows you to update your TL according to a formula. What you need to do is update the variables according to a formula (middle of rule 2.9) and then update your position to the current… Thelonious 07/07/06 1 07/07/06
Rolling dice Sorry for the blog-spam but I’ve never rolled dice before and I wanted to see how it worked. dice-6 = DICE6, dice-6 = DICE6, dice-6 = DICE6, dice-6 = DICE6, dice-6 = DICE6, dice-6 = DICE6 dice-0 = DICE0 dice—1 = DICE-1 Thelonious 07/06/06 7 07/06/06
Proposals fail on DoV Modify the rule titled “Victory and Ascension” by adding the following paragraph at the end. When a DoV passes, all pending proposals immediately fail. Proposals failed in this way cannot be subsequently enacted under the rule titled “Enactment”. Thelonious 07/03/06 7 07/04/06
Spam proposals Whilst the proposals individually might “do nothing”, making 3 of them all at once means that Bucky can’t make any more proposals today (Rule 1.3). Thelonious 06/07/06 0
Virus free at last I’m fed up with my virus so I’ve dropped it (rule 2.21). Thelonious 06/05/06 0
Time warp The timestamps on the GNDT are wrong. I’ve just made a whole load of updates for the first chant of 5th April. I made those updates at approx. 09:15 BST (08:15 GMT) but they show as being made at 01:18 BST. It’s important that these times are right, otherwise it… Thelonious 05/05/06 4 05/05/06
Ringing the bell I am ringing the bell because it makes a most wonderful musical accompaniment to all the chanting. (Since 2.12 isn’t in effect yet, night is either undefined or defined with reference to the normal meaning of the word night in the GMT timezone. Either way, it isn’t night.) Thelonious 05/03/06 0
Chanting As the (self-proclaimed) most musical monk in the abbey, I hereby start a chant. Since this is my first chant, I’m making it obvious and spelling out my logic for GNDT changes so that e who cares can check. Because I chant at A-18N, all the following chant. Rodney A-18N… Thelonious 05/03/06 1 05/05/06
Bell Pull enactment Please could an admin modify the map as prescribed in the Bell Pull rule. Thelonious 05/02/06 4 05/03/06
Any room in St. Passignano? Good day to you brothers. Pray, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Thelonious and I’m here to bring a little Jazz to St. Passignano, if you’ll take me in. Thelonious 04/19/06 0
