against .  Although I don’t think Darth Cliche would actually do so, letting him add arbitrary live ruletext (potion effects) is a bad idea.  Specifically, potions should not be permitted to directly modify the Ruleset.

Still, the solution is to restrict what potions can do, not prevent him from creating them in the first place.

Remember that adding an item to any of the tables that have the content creation clause only specifies that such an item is a <monster, weapon, armor, potion>, it doesn’t force any of us to have one, or to drink it.

@lilomar: The rules also provide a way to get at a newly created potion i.e. by the RNG giving someone an unidentified potion.  This means unidentified potions can’t be handed out until the issue I raised gets passed.
