In “Wagers”, replace “If no Gambler has changed their own Wager, changed their own Hustle, or Spun or otherwise modified the Wheel within the past 12 hours” with:-

If neither the Wheel nor the Wager, Hustle nor Annoyingness of any Gamblers has changed within the past 12 hours

Move the text of “Unnamed Rule” to the end of “Annoyingness”, removing the empty rule.

Add a new paragraph to “Annoyingness”:-

A Gambler may not perform an action in this rule if they have already performed an instance of it since the Wheel was last Spun.

Replace “A Gambler may change their own Hustle at any time.” with:-

If they haven’t done so since the Wheel was last Spun, a Gambler may change their own Hustle.

Broadening the Spin restriction to cover changes in Annoyingnesses, which players might also want time to react to. And limiting all such actions to once-per-spin, so that the Wheel can’t be locked by endlessly repeating the action.

What is BlogNomic?
It’s a Nomic - a game whose rules are changed by the players as the game progresses. Using weblog posts, players submit proposed changes to the game, suggesting whatever they like, and the other players cast votes in comments to that post. If enough vote in favour of a change, we update the rules (which are kept on this wiki page) and carry on playing. Whenever anyone wins the game, we reset the rules, pick a new theme and start again.

After “The Gamblers with the following names are Stylish:”, continue with a list of all Gamblers whose EVC on this Proposal is a for (eg. (...) Stylish: Abel, Bob, Carmen, Diego).

I’m honestly not invested at all in this dynasty and its been going on for too long (2 months).

Let’s do something new. Rather than sitting on our hands until the WP is ready, I suggest to play as normal, and even if the WP does eventually become ready during a dynasty, we still play out that last dynasty and THEN we switch over.

The Dynasty of the Second Switch is a game being played at wp.blognomic.com. It is regarded by BlogNomic as a test dynasty where any winner would not ascend to Emperor. Players of that game are encouraged to repeal or otherwise disable the rule “Victory and Ascension” within that game.

Swapping the “if someone decides they’ve won at the Wordpress game, they fight it out with the winner here” for “the Wordpress game is a test”, given that nothing has happened there for a week and it’s likely reached the point where all of its players could be auto-idled and a two-person team propose and enact “I win”.

In “Plaques”, replace “A Gambler whose Points are greater than the sum of all other Gamblers’ Points, and also greater than the number of Segments on the Wheel, is a High Roller.” with:-

A Gambler is a High Roller if they have more than 50 Points, and at least 20 Points more than each other Gambler.

Reproposal of Always Read the Plaque from a couple of weeks ago, adding the 20 point lead that Derrick requested.

As it stands, there’s no way to gain Plaques or end the current gambling round, as “greater than the sum of all other Gamblers’ Points” is practically impossible given the player scores right now (you need to reach a score above 285, and by the time you’ve got that far other players’ scores will likely also have risen, increasing that target score more quickly than your own score can increase). It made sense under the original betting system which resulted in scores fluctuating above and below zero, but not under this one.

Hi,

I know i just joined and maybe i should just sit back and play passively until i am established. I came up with an idea for a future dynasty and was prepared to sit on my hands until my turn to start a dynasty that way.

However, i then read the new player guide which said things like:
“Be creative to help build the game.”
“Make more proposals and tell the Emperor about problems with the dynasty.”
“Participate and share ideas”
“Participate, give feedback, try and make things work before doing anything else.”
“Rules. I for one don’t come up with many great ideas, but this game is built on its rules. People should try to at least start discussions about future mechanics they think would be fun, and maybe someone else can figure out a way to work it into the current rules.”
“Support, encourage, and instruct new players; propose rule changes to create a game you think is fun; accept that other players might have different ideas of fun, or have different goals in playing than you do;”
“Be bold enough to propose repealing or changing any rule that seems boring. Make some noise if it’s getting quiet. Encourage interaction. Keep any rivalry in-character.”
“Take part of the dynasty. And if they are not enjoying it, make proposals to fix the parts they don’t enjoy.”

This made me realize that perhaps if i made poeple aware of my idea, which is in a draft form, people wouldnt necessarily roll their eyes and say “Who even is this guy?”, and maybe would be excited about the idea, and who knows maybe want to help me make it into something that we could vote on and integrate into this dynasty.

The roullette wheel looks a bit boring, to be perfectly honest. But i am sure it will grow on me!

Replace MEDALVALUE in this rule with the roll of a DICE60, and PLAQUEVALUE with the roll of a DICE120.

Enact a new rule, “The Switch”:-

The Dynasty of the Second Switch is a game being played at wp.blognomic.com. It is regarded by BlogNomic as a test dynasty whose winner, if any, is immaterial. Players of that game are encouraged to repeal the rule “Victory and Ascension” within that game.

A simpler solution: requesting that the Second Switch game disable its victory mechanism, so that we don’t have to worry about both dynasties producing their own winner.

The Dynasty of the Second Switch is a game being played at wp.blognomic.com. It is regarded by BlogNomic as being on equal standing with this dynasty.

The Gambler known as Seventy-Fifth Trombone may (once per dynasty) make a blog post declaring a single Gambler to be a Pretender, if they believe that that Gambler has achieved victory within the Dynasty of the Second Switch.

If a Pretender has been announced in this way, a Gambler may only make an Ascension Address if the Pretender has posted a blog entry permitting them to.

The first of two straw poll proposals to determine which dynasty or dynasties people should be trying to play and win, because both have been flagging.

This is an attempt to recognise a winner of the other game, over here: both victors must agree among themselves how the next true dynasty should be run. Deferring to the judgment of the other game’s Emperor (I seem to remember Seventy-Fifth Trombone being the Emperor over there, and it doesn’t appear to describe itself as a Metadynasty?) to determine the winner, as I can’t think of a reliable way to access another game’s gamestate directly.

Idling

Quorum falls to 6.

This is mostly separate from my reasons for idling from the WP dynasty. I had a good time with this dynasty. There were some fun tactical choices to be made with wagering, and interesting interactions with the nomic gameplay. But I don’t want to stay around trying to keep my lead by keeping the game stale. There’s no excitement now that it’s unclear that I’m even playing to win given the switch, and if I did, I won’t have the time to run a dynasty anyway. So, I might as well clear the way for someone else to have fun with it.

Add a new role to the ruleset, called Switch Supremacy:

No Gambler my post an ascension address.

There exists a trial game of BlogNomic, which is found at wp.blognomic.com. This rule of the BlogNomic ruleset has precise over any rule in the trial game’s ruleset; in all other instances the trial game’s own ruleset has priority over the trial game’s gamestate.

Proposals made at BlogNomic.com may affect the trial game as if the trial game were part of the gamestate governed by this ruleset. In no other way is the trial game considered to be gamestate for the proposes of this ruleset, other than those outlined in this rule.

BlogNomic may be in a state of Switch. BlogNomic is currently not in a state of Switch. If a gambler has successfully achieved victory in this game and a Designer has successfully achieved victory in the trial game then BlogNomic has entered a state of Switch, and any admin may undertake the following atomic action:

Add the following rule:

A Gambler may successfully Declare Victory if they have 3 or more Winner’s Medallions.

Some people want the game to be over, while almost nobody wants to go on hiatus or just end it, so… a Victory condition.

Enact a new rule, “No More Bets”:-

BlogNomic is on Hiatus.

A proposal on Monday to make it possible to win any further rounds of this game timed out and failed, with no counter-proposals. Of the four proposals made in the past week, three were from me and one was requesting adminship in the Wordpress game.

Have people given up on this metadynasty in favour of the Wordpress one? (I appreciate that Pokes is keen to lock in the status quo while they have the most Plaques.)
