Brief downtime tonight

Update: Everything seems to have gone swimmingly. You may now resume your regular gamely activities.

Hey, all. Hope everything’s going well.

For a very long time Dreamhost has been encouraging its users to migrate all their databases onto one physical server. I’ve always postponed moving BlogNomic’s stuff so as not to cause downtime. But this “encouragement” has progressed to the point where it’s somewhat difficult for me to create databases for other sites now. So at midnight Pacific Daylight Time (that’s 7:00 am UTC), Dreamhost is going to go ahead and perform the migration.

There will probably be some brief downtime while it takes place. My understanding is that the old DB will be disabled before it’s copied to the new server, so there shouldn’t be any rollback of submitted content. But just to be sure, if you post anything tonight after reading this message, do check in the morning to be sure your content is still here.

The whole thing should be completed with no further intervention from me. If anything funny happens, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I’ll fix it as soon as possible. I will of course be making a complete backup of the database before the migration begins.

TL; DR: Brief downtime around 07:00 UTC. Database will be backed up. In case of emergency, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Proposal: Self-study

Timed out 6 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 01 Sep 2010 02:16:49 UTC

To the list of Education actions in rule 2.3 “Skills”, add:

  • Retraining. The Student may remove one level of one Skill he has, and add one level of any other Skill.

Sometimes, it’s possible to be left with nothing to do with your weekly skill action. This leaves you “behind” in that you don’t gain a skill, but it gives you a more preferable distribution, so it’s not a total waste of a week.

Proposal: Jack of all Trades

If an earthling has level of two or more in all skills, excluding such skills as he may not legally attain (such as cooking for Robots or bending for Organisms) he may declare victory.

Proposal: Faster and less buggy business

Reached quorum 7-0, enacted by Kevan.

In rule 2.4.4 “Private Ownership and the Means of Production”, change

As a weekly action, any Earthling may take a Business Action on behalf of a Corporation that they are a member of, if no member of that Corporation has taken a Business Action for that Corporation earlier in the current week.

to

An Earthling who is a member of a Corporation may cause that Corporation to take a Business Action of their choice, but not if that Corporation took a Business Action in the previous 48 hours, or if that Corporation has already taken two Business Actions in the current week.

One major change here (Corporations can now act twice as often); and one major bugfix. The bug is that by tying Business Actions to weekly actions of members of the Corporation, then they can take up to three actions a week; all that is required is for one member to take an action and then leave, and now “no member of that Corporation has taken a Business Action for that Corporation earlier in the current week”. This also prevents Corporations taking an action right at the end of a week and right at the start of the next (using the weekly of two different people); weekly actions have a safeguard against this when Earthlings are involved, but not with respect to Corporations.

Enact a new rule, entitled “Scamming”, reading

As a business action, a Corporation may spend 7 units of Cash Product to purchase Earth. Earth is listed in a Corporation’s Stock. Only one Corporation may own Earth at a time; if another purchases it, the first loses it.

If an Inebriated Earthling is the only member of their Corporation, and that Corporation own Earth, that Earthling achieves victory.

Good news, everyone! I’m going to cause the end of the world!

Repeal Rules 2.3.1, 2.3.2 and 2.3.3, and replace the last paragraph of Rule 2.3 with:-

As a weekly action, an Earthling (known as the “Student”) may take one Education action. Available Education actions are:-

  • Osmosis. The Student chooses a Skill. If the Student has a level of zero or one in that Skill, and if a member of their Corporation has a higher level in the same Skill, the Student gains a copy of that Skill. An Earthling not in a Corporation cannot learn by Osmosis.
  • Upgrading. If the Student is a Robot and their Corporation possesses an Upgrade Disk, the Disk is consumed and the Student may gain a copy of any Skill.
  • Study. If the Student is an Organism and their Corporation possesses an Study Pass, the Pass is consumed and the Student may gain a copy of any Skill.
  • Lying. If any Skills exist which are possessed by no Earthlings, the Student may choose one of those Skills and gain a copy of it.

Proposal: All Product to the Hypnotoad

Reached quorum 7 votes to 1. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 27 Aug 2010 01:44:39 UTC

Enact a new rule, “Customer Orders”:-

If no Active Orders exist, any Earthling may - as a daily action - announce an Order, in which a Customer issues a demand for a particular combination of Stock.

To announce an Order, the Earthling (known as the “Cashier”) must first roll an X-sided die in the GNDT, where X is the number of characters listed in the [[List of recurring characters in Futurama]] wiki page. (The Professor may add or remove characters to and from this list at any time.) The list item that matches the number rolled is the Customer.

Once a Customer has been established, the Cashier must roll three X-sided dice, where X is the number of distinct types of Stock (counting Products with different adjectives as being distinct, and excluding Cash Product) currently held by Corporations. Each roll result is then translated into a type of Stock, from that Stock’s position in an alphabetical list of Stock types (again, excluding Cash Product).

The Cashier must then post a Story post announcing the Customer, the Products they require (the “Shipment”), and an explanation of what they intend to do with it. Upon posting such a Story post, the Order becomes Active.

If a Corporation possesses the Shipment components of an Active Order, any member of that Corporation may remove those components from the Corporation’s Stock to complete the Order - the Order ceases to be Active, and the Corporation gains five Cash Product items for their Stock.

If an Order has been active for more than five days, it ceases to be Active.

Upon enactment of this rule, revert the List of recurring characters in Futurama wiki page to its first version, if it has been changed since the posting of this proposal.

Taking a stab at a customer order system that doesn’t require Professorial input.

To the first paragraph of Rule 2.4.4, add:-

Any game object produced by a business action is considered to be an item of Stock, and such items are added to the producing Corporation’s Stock upon creation.

Replace “As a business action, a Production Corporation may produce one unit of Product.”, with:-

As a business action, a Production Corporation may produce one unit of Product, prefixed by any one-word adjective, unless that Corporation already owns a unit of Product prefixed by a different one-word adjective.

And add an action:-

As a business action, a Science Corporation may change the adjective on any one unit of Product in their Stock.

A Leader of a Production Corporation may include the phrase “We unveil our new ‘XXX’ range” in comments to this post, where “XXX” is any one-word adjective. If any Corporations own any units of Product when this proposal enacts, the Product belonging to that Corporation shall be given the most recent adjective specified by the Leader of that Corporation, as per the previous sentence of this proposal. If no such adjective was specified for a Product, it shall take the adjective “Generic”.

Proposal: Special Stuff

Vetoed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 25 Aug 2010 09:30:22 UTC

Create a new dynastic rule, entitled Premium Goods:

As a weekly action, the Professor may create a story post in which he describes a customer who wishes to construct a unique Premium Good. This story post must detail the name of the Customer, nature of the Premium Good to be built, the quantities and types of Stock the customer needs in order to complete their Premium Good, and when the Stock needed to complete the Premium Good needs to be completed by. The Customer must then be added as an NPC in the GNDT; they do not need to be added to the list of NPCs in this ruleset.

If the Customer has enough Stock to complete their Premium Good by the time limit, then each Corporation gains one Payment (which is notated, as per other types of Stock, by an $ symbol) per item of Stock that they contributed to the Premium Good. In addition, the Delivery Company that transfered the most Stock to the Customer gains three Payments. A Delivery Company may not transfer more Stock to a Customer than it needs.

If the Customer does not gain enough Stock to complete their Premium Good within the stated time limit, then it collapses and all Goods transfered to it are lost.

Either way, when the Customer’s time limit has expired and all rewards have been distributed the Customer can be removed from the GNDT.

More specialised types of stock will probably be needed.

Proposal: Osmosis Limits

Amend the rule ‘Learning by Osmosis’ to read:

An Earthling may Learn by Osmosis. An Earthling may learn a skill by osmosis if that Earthling has a level of zero or one in that skill, and a member of their Corporation has a higher level in that skill. An Earthling not in a Corporation cannot learn by Osmosis.

Proposal: Learning Fix

Oh, right, that’s a veto icon, isn’t it? Vetoed. Processed by Kevan.

Adminned at 24 Aug 2010 07:51:59 UTC

To the beginnings of Rules 2.3.1 Learning By Osmosis, 2.3.2 Learning By Upgrade, and 2.3.3 Learning By Study, add the following phrase:

As a weekly action,

Note that this would theoretically allow an Earthling to learn by each method, once per week.

Osmosis Bug

In Rule 2.3, it says that:

An Earthling may undertake one of the Learning actions, listed as sub-rules to this rule, as a weekly action.

However, in Rule 2.3.1, it says:

An Earthling may Learn by Osmosis. An Earthling who does so may gain a copy of one skill possessed by another Earthling who is a member of the same Corporation as them. If an Earthling has more than 2 copies of a Skill, they may not gain further copies of that Skill through Learning by Osmosis.

So, I have the option of 1. Learning by Osmosis as a weekly action via Rule 2.3, or 2. Learning by Osmosis (no strings attached) via Rule 2.3.1. I take Option 2, multiple times. :D

  • As a weekly action, a Production Corporation may produce one unit of Product. Each iteration of Product possessed by a Corporation is listed in the GNDT as a separate # sign, under Stock.

Proposal: Just Enough Redundancy

Adminned at 24 Aug 2010 01:28:26 UTC

Reword Rule 2.4.4 (Private Ownership and the Means of Production) to:-

Corporations may hold Stock. The Stock that a Corporation holds is listed in its entry on the Corporations wiki page.

As a weekly action, any Earthling may take a Business Action on behalf of a Corporation that they are a member of, if no member of that Corporation has taken a Business Action for that Corporation earlier in the current week.

  • As a business action, a Research Corporation may produce one unit of Learning Materials.
  • As a business action, a Production Corporation may spend one unit of Learning Materials in their Stock to produce one Upgrade Disk.
  • As a business action, an Exploration Corporation may spend one unit of Learning Materials in their Stock to produce one Study Pass.

In Rule 2.4.5 (PlanEx), replace “Delivery Chits are listed in the GNDT under stock, as a ~ sign.” with:-

Delivery Chits are listed as Stock.

...and replace “along with a comment in the GNDT” with “along with a comment in the edit summary”.

Remove all Corporations from the GNDT.

Moving the Stock from the GNDT into the wiki, so that all the Corporation details are in the same place. Also defining the “business action”, which is currently framed ambiguously (if “Weekly actions undertaken by Corporations may be undertaken once by any member of that Corporation”, does that mean I can only ever perform the action once in my life?).

Proposal: Mom’s friendly underlings

If the Proposal titled “Now with 99.7% more Mom” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Add the following to the NPC list in the rule “NPCs”:

Bending Unit X-49
Chubby Smoker Guy

In the GNDT, set each new NPC’s stats as follows:

Bending Unit X-49
Type: NPC
Composition: Robot
AC: 5
Skills: BB
Corporation: MomCorp
Stock: -

Chubby Smoker Guy
Type: NPC
Composition: Organism
AC: 0
Skills: A
Corporation: MomCorp
Stock: -

On the Corporations wiki page, change MomCorp’s trade to Production and add Bending Unit X-49 and Chubby Smoker Guy as Employees.

My reasoning behind this is simple, though I doubt it make much sense lol. Mom has been in business for a long, long time. Therefor, she already has alot of employees (leaving no room for any of us). As for the chubby smoker guy? Well he shows up in the show so damn much and with so many different jobs it makes some sense. That and its the only way I could work him into the dynasty.

Corporations may hold Stock. The Stock that a Corporation holds is noted in the GNDT. Weekly actions undertaken by Corporations may be undertaken once by any member of that Corporation.

As a weekly action, a Research Corporation may produce Learning Materials. Each iteration of Learning Materials possessed by a Corporation is listed in the GNDT as a separate % sign, under Stock.
As a weekly action, a Production Corporation may spend one Learning Material in their Stock to produce one Upgrade Disk. Each Upgrade Disk is listed in the GNDT under Stock as a separate ^ sign.
As a weekly action, an Exploration Corporation may spend one Learning Material in their Stock to produce one Study Pass. Each Upgrade Disk is listed in the GNDT under Stock as a separate & sign.

Add a new subrule to rule 2.5, entitled PlanEx:

A Delivery Company may transfer an item of Stock from its own Stock to that of another Corporation at any time.

Any non-Delivery Corporation with an Accountant can, as a weekly action, requisition a Delivery Chit. Delivery Chits are listed in the GNDT under stock, as a ~ sign.

At any time, a Corporation can spend one Delivery Chit to transfer any number of a single type of Stock to any Delivery Company, along with a comment in the GNDT mandating how that Stock must be dispersed. The Delivery Company may keep one item of Stock for themselves, as profit, but then must disperse the Stock as requested within 48 hours. An Organism Earthling may Learn by Study, so long as their Corporation possesses a Study Pass. An Earthling who does so may gain a copy of any one skill.

I’m new here, obviously

Hi!

...That’s all I really have to say.

A quick study

Add a new subrule to the rule “Skills” with the following text

As a weekly action, an earthling may either attempt to teach or to train. To teach, he names another earthling, a skill and roles a DICE6. If the result is less than or equal to the difference between the first earthling’s level in that skill and the second earthling’s level in the same skill, the second earthling may once within the next 24 hours append the letter for that skill to his skills. To train, he picks a skill which he has at least one level in and roles a DICEN where N is his level in that skill. If the result is a 1, the earthling may once append the letter for that skill to his skills.

Not wasting a proposal slot on this yet because I think it needs work. Namely its a lot easier to level up yourself than train. I could decrease the DICE6, but I like it being easier to train someone if you are a much higher level than someone else. Feedback appreciated.

When a Corporation is disbanded, it ceases to be a Corporation and all its members become members of no Corporation.

Enact a new subrule to “Mini Planet Expresses” entitled “Make and Break” reading

Any Earthling not in a Corporation may form a Corporation by making a post to the blog with “[Corporation] NAME” as its title, where NAME is the name of the corporation and is different from all previous Corporations. The post shall describe the services that the Corporation provides, as well as a listing Earthlings permitted to join it. The forming Earthling is the first member of the new Corporation.

Any Earthling can join a Corporation (if permitted and if the corporation has less than three members) or leave a Corporation by posting a comment to that effect to the Corporation’s post. If this causes a Corporation’s membership to be empty, it is disbanded.

Enact a new subrule to “Mini Planet Expresses” entitled “The Newspaper Route” reading

The Trade of a Corporation may be None, Delivery, Production, Research or Exploration, and defaults to “None”. Certain Trades have Skill requirements, as listed below:-

  * A Delivery Corporation must have one non-Drunk member with the Piloting Skill, and one member with the Accountancy Skill.
  * A Production Corporation must have one member with the Bending Skill, and one member with the Accountancy Skill.
  * A Research Corporation must have one member with the Science Skill, and one member with the Accountancy Skill.
  * An Exploration Corporation must have one non-Drunk member with the Piloting Skill, and one member with the Science Skill.

If a Corporation does not meet the criteria for its Trade, any Earthling may change its Trade to “None”.

Enact a new subrule to “Mini Planet Expresses” entitled “An 80s Guy” reading

The Earthling or Earthlings with the highest level in Leadership in a Corporation are that Corporation(s) Leaders. The Leader(s) of a Corporation can, in a comment to that Corporation’s post:
* Post a new listing of Earthlings permitted to join as a comment to that Corporation’s post; the new listing supersedes the old one.
* Change the Trade or description of services of the Corporation, as long as it continues to meet any requirements set out in other rules.
* Eject another Earthling, other than a Leader, from the Corporation.
* Disband the Corporation.

In the rule entitled “Skills”, add “Filanthropy” to the list of Available Skills. Then, to the end of that rule, append:-

If an Organism ever has a copy of the Skill “Bending”, or a Robot ever has a copy of the Skill “Filanthropy”, that copy is removed from their Skills.

The Trade of a Corporation may be None, Delivery, Production, Research or Exploration, and defaults to “None”. Certain Trades have Skill requirements, as listed below:-

  • A Research Corporation must have one member with the Science Skill, and one member with the Accountancy Skill.
  • An Exploration Corporation must have one non-Drunk member with the Piloting Skill, and one member with the Science Skill.

If a Corporation does not meet the criteria for its Trade, any Earthling may change its Trade to “None”. Enact a new Rule, “Skills”:-

Each Earthling may possess a number of Skills. An Earthling may possess multiple copies of the same Skill - the number of copies of a Skill that an Earthling has is known as their “Level” in that Skill. An Earthling’s Skills are tracked in the GNDT column “Skills”, each copy of a Skill being represented by the first letter of that Skill.

Available skills are:-

  • Accountancy
  • Bending
  • Leadership
  • Medicine
  • Piloting
  • Science

All Earthlings start with no Skills. If an Earthling has no Skills, they may roll DICEX, where X is the number of Skills in the above list, and gain one Level of the Skill whose position in the list matches the die roll.

After the rule has enacted, set the Professor’s Skills to “SSS”.

If an Earthling’s Composition is Organism, that Earthling’s Clothing defaults to Clothed; if an Earthling’s Composition is Robot, that Earthling’s Clothing defaults to Naked.”

Add a new rule to the ruleset, entitled “Mini Planet Expresses”:

Up to three Earthlings can band together to form a Corporation. Each Earthling can be a member of no more than one Corporation at a time.

Corporations are tracked on the wiki on the page named Corporations. For each Corporation, the page must detail the name of the Corporation, the Earthlings who comprise it, their Jobs, and a brief description of what services the Corporation provides. It is the responsibility of each Earthling to ensure that the information thus stored for their Corporation is accurate and up-to-date. Each Earthling’s Corporation is also tracked in the GNDT.

Any Earthling may dissolve a Corporation that they are in by posting to the BlogNomic blog to that effect. The dissolved Corporation may then be removed from the wiki by any Earthling.

Some Citizens are Idle, and shall be marked as such in the sidebar. For the purposes of the Ruleset, excluding Rules 1.1, 1.2, 1.8 and 1.10, Idle Citizens are not counted as Citizens. Admins may render a Citizen Idle if that Citizen has asked to become Idle or if that Citizen has not posted an entry or comment in the last seven days. In the latter case, the Admin must announce the idling in a blog post. Admins may render themselves Idle at any time by announcing that they have done so in a blog post.  Admins may de-Idle an Citizen at his request, and Idle Admins may de-idle themselves at any time, unless the idle Citizen in question asked to become (or rendered themselves) Idle within the previous 4 days, and within the current dynasty. The Citizen’s personal gamestate retains the values it had immediately prior to his going Idle. Clarifying that when you vote AGAINST your own proposal, the proposal is self-killed, rather than the vote being a self-kill (in the latter case, idling out after self-killing would remove the self-kill because an idle player’s vote is “no longer valid”). This is already implicit in Rule 1.5’s “Proposals the author has Voted against are considered self-killed”, but we may as well tighten the wording.

Minor updates to Alethioscript

I made a few minor corrections to alethioscript to fix it to match the current core rules.
* It now counts implicit FORs on all Votable Matters, not just Proposals.
* It ignores emoticons which are not legal votes (including ARROWs and VETOs made by non-emperor players).
* It doesn’t count VETOs or s/k’s on Votable Matters which are not Proposals.
* It treats author DEFs like other DEFs and s/k’s with an author DEF and an imperial AGAINST.

I also added the ability to change the color of the “new comments” links, per request from Ienpw_III.
Anyway, I uploaded it to http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/83555 if anyone wants to try it out.

BlogNomic is divided into a number of Dynasties. Most Dynasties are headed by a single Citizen, known as the High-Programmer, and are named according to the number of Dynasties they have headed (eg. “The First Dynasty of Myke”). Some Dynasties have no High-Programmer; those are Metadynasties and are named according to the number of Metadynasties (e.g. “The Third Metadynasty”).

The High-Programmer, if there is one, may Vote to VETO any Proposal.

3) Set the Clearance Level of all Citizens to RED
4) Set the Clearance Level of lilomar to ULTRAVIOLET

Requesting a quick quorum, so we can get back to playing.

Proposal: Kicked upstairs

Quorums at 10-0 and is Enacted. - lilomar

Adminned at 13 Aug 2010 11:04:35 UTC

Set the Clearance Level of the Dynastic Rule entitled “Clearance Levels” to ULTRAVIOLET.  Set the Clearance Level of all its subrules to ULTRAVIOLET as well.  Finally, set the Clearance Level of the High-Programmer to ULTRAVIOLET.

If a majority of EVCs on this proposal that contain text do not also contain the text “Me Too”, set the Clearance Level of the admin enacting this proposal to VIOLET.

Paradox

So, suppose there’s a Citizen with higher Clearance than the rule “Information Clearance”.

Unfortunately, the rule forgets to exclude itself; thus, for the purposes of rule 2.1.1.1, a Citzen with higher Clearance than rule 2.1.1.1 is not a Citizen, according to rule 2.1.1.1; except that this cancels the effect of the rule, so they are a Citizen; except that makes the rule apply again…

I think this is an actual paradox. It’s possible that lilomar and coppro have platonically become INFRARED due to it being paradoxical whether they have a clearance or not (thus forcing their clearance to default), but I’m not sure.

Such a pity that BlogNomic doesn’t have the standard nomic rule where you can win by noticing a paradox…

Because I can

Home-Sector Sweet Home-Sector

The rule Naming Scheme (2.8.3) that I can request this, so I shall.

Lilomar please change my prime name to Jm and my home sector to DEX. Just posted it as a post to remind people it can be done.

Jim dang it, Jim. The naming algorithm ignored “I"s that day. Just ask Bll.

I’m confused

What happened since my short leave? There seems to be a lot of chaos.

Executive Power Clearup

Amend the rule ‘UV Citizens’ by replacing ‘any ULTRAVIOLET Citizen’ with ‘any ULTRAVIOLET Officer’.

Amend the rule ‘Information Clearance’ by appending ‘For the purposes of any ULTRAVIOLET dynastic rule, ULTRAVIOLET Citizens are both Citizens and Officers.’

Stupid rules.

Spike-R has been [REDACTED]

spikebrennan goes idle (for real). 19 Citizens. Quorum is 10.

Call for Judgment: Reset

Reaches quorum 10-0 and is enacted.

Note that because the rules are demoted first, every citizen with higher clearance has their GNDT values (critically, their designation and location) reset. -coppro

Adminned at 11 Aug 2010 16:28:49 UTC

Set the clearance of every dynastic rule to RED, except “ProDemote”; set its clearance to ULTRAVIOLET.
Set the clearance of every Citizen to RED, except set the clearance of the High-Programmer to ULTRAVIOLET.
Remove every entry on the Code of Conduct.
Set every Citizen’s Clone Number to 1, and Treason and Perversity Points to 0.
In the rule “ProDemote”, change every instance of “Story Post” to “blog post”.

The actual gamestate is getting very hard to track down; most of what’s happened so far has been determined by scams and by mistakes, and much is disputed; and there’s been a huge amount of timing influence involved, based on who has and hasn’t been online. Basically, the situation is getting ridiculous. The current ruleset is (mostly) fine, but we could do with a gamestate reset, both so we all agree on what the gamestate actually is, and to create a clean slate from which everyone can start future scams equally. Hopefully after the CFJ passes, lilomar can move everything back to the right clearance (including that of citizens, based on where he thinks they should be). (And I hope lilomar will make the new CoC less abusable.)

Fix!

I’ve made a small adjustment to the weblog so that when you click on a post from a search page or from the “all posts by this member” page, it gives you the actual page rather than a blank screen. If you notice any problems suddenly popping up on the weblog, shoot me a message and I’ll revert it.

You know, just in case.

The archives also now hide unless you click on ” Show/Hide Archives”.

Last of all, do people mind if I make some separate templates, which will only show up when logged on as me, so that I can make some personalized aesthetic changes to the main page, since some people prefer things in a certain way, while I’d rather have the main page organized differently?

Proposal: Vidory!

Adminned at 12 Aug 2010 11:41:28 UTC

Create a new core rule entitled “Terms of Success”, which will contain several subrules.

Create a subrule of “Terms of Success” entitled “Ultimate Operative” which says:

A citizen who is a member of The Secret Police achieves victory if his home sector is WIN, he has 0 Treason points, has 0 Perversity Points, and has a clearance of ULTRAVIOLET.

Create a subrule of “Terms of Success” entitled “Secret Invader” which says:

A citizen who is a member of The Alien Subversives achieves victory if his home sector is WIN, he has 0 Treason points, has 8 or more Perversity Points, and has a clearance of ULTRAVIOLET.

Create a subrule of “Terms of Success” entitled “Rebel Assault” which says:

A citizen who is a member of The Rebel Usurpers achieves victory if his home sector is WIN, he has 5 Treason points, has 0 Perversity Points, and has a clearance of ULTRAVIOLET.

Create a subrule of “Terms of Victory” entitled “The Godfather” which says:

A citizen who is a member of The Criminal Underground achieves victory if his home sector is WIN, he has 5 Treason points, has 8 or more Perversity Points, and has a clearance of ULTRAVIOLET.

If the majority of votes on this proposal include the phrase “Equality First”, then drop the clearance levels of all citizens other than the High-Programmer with a clearance of ULTRAVIOLET or VIOLET to INDIGO and the clearance levels of all citizens with a clearance of INDIGO to BLUE.

Not idle.

lilomar illegally idled me before I should have gone idle. I call shenanigans. Also, any changes to gamestate because of this SHOULD be reverted, it anyone wants to go over it.

Apologies welcome.

Returning to the complex

Congratulations to ais523, who has returned from a mission outside the Alpha Complex.

Quorum is unchanged.

Revert any effects that may have occured of all attempts that were made to promote or demote a rule or citizen per the rule “ProDemote” since it was enacted.

ProDemote requires the Citizen doing so to make a Story Post. However, in order to be a Story Post, the post must follow a format defined by the rules.

Arguably, the ProDemotion rule doesn’t specify a format at all, and thus can’t create Story Posts at all. The only bit that even resembles a format is this: “In order to Promote or Demote, a Citizen must make a Story Post describing the Promotion or Demotion.”. Looking through past attempted ProDemotions: Bucky’s “I demote flurie to BLUE clearance if I can legally do so.”, and lilomar’s “Promoting Travel Permits to ORANGE clearance.”, none of them have been following this format, assuming it exists. There are two possibilities: a) the description is not a format that must be followed, in which case the posts are not Story Posts because of that; or b) the description is a format that must be followed, in which case the post hasn’t been following it. “I do X” is not a description of what’s happening, but rather an action; and merely stating that you perform an action that you can perform doesn’t actually cause it to happen, you need to actually perform the action. (For instance, if I make a post “I submit a proposal saying ‘...’” in a non-Proposal category, it clearly isn’t a Proposal; I’m stating that I perform an action, rather than, you know, actually performing it.) In Agora, this is known as the “I Say I Do, Therefore I Do” fallacy (or ISIDTID); in BlogNomic, the same truism applies: you can’t perform an action without actually performing it.

As a result, since none of those actions actually occured, their apparent effects need to be reverted.

Yet again….

I demote flurie to BLUE clearance if I can legally do so.

Call for Judgment: Story Post from past dynasties are no longer Story Posts

Does nothing now. Failing per the last sentence of 1.6. - lilomar

Adminned at 12 Aug 2010 11:39:28 UTC

The definition of Official Posts is (from Rule 1.7) “Posts following the format specified by a rule are considered official posts”.
From the definition of Official Post, I infer that if the rule specifying the format of an Official Post is repealed, that post ceases to be an Official Post.
The definition of Story posts (in the Glossary) requires a Story Post to be an Official Post.

Also, the description of the Code of Conduct action designated “UPPITT” explicitly requires that the post in question be a Story Post.  Any other citizen with ULTRAVIOLET clearance can confirm this.

Therefore, revert any processings of instances of UPPITT for comments on posts that were Story Posts in a previous dynasty but are not in this dynasty, and revert any changes in Clearance made based on the effects of those instances of UPPITT on Citizens’ Treason values.

No, really, I’m ULTRAVIOLET this time.

Proposal: INFRARED love

Adminned at 12 Aug 2010 00:09:00 UTC

Many of you will not remember having been INFRARED, on account of a previous clone of you having earned a higher clearance. However, I nonetheless implore you to think back to the days your previous clone had at INFRARED clearance, and then to notice the shabby state of the INFRARED rules.

Accordingly, effective immediately, the rule ‘Slander’ is to be amended to read

Slander is disharmonious, which leads to unhappiness. Accordingly, any Citizen who posts a blog post that constitutes slander of an Officer will have his Treason score increased by one. A statement is slanderous if (1) any Officer with a Clearance Level of VIOLET or higher says so in a comment to that blog post, or (2) the statement satisfies such requirements as are issued in a blog post from time to time by an OFFICER with a Clearance Level of Green or higher that have not been superseded by a subsequent blog post by an Offier with a higher Clearance Level, or with ULTRAVIOLET Clearance.

Additionally, double rations of love are available this week. The rule ‘Thank you for your loyalty, Citizen!’ is amended to read

Within 24 hours of the Enactment of a proposal they authored, a Citizen may raise their Clearance by one level.

The passing of this proposal satisfies all love quotas for the month.

Times out 5-4 and is enacted. -coppro

Proposal: Loophole Slayer

Amend Rule 1.3 by replacing the list with:

  • A Citizen cannot submit a non-Core Proposal if that Citizen already has two or more non-Core Proposals pending.
  • A Citizen cannot submit a Proposal if that Citizen already has three or more Proposals pending.
  • A Citizen cannot submit a Proposal if that Citizen has already submitted two or more Proposals that day.

Replace the definition of Core Proposal with

A Proposal whose changes are limited to the creation, deletion, and/or amendment of core rules and/or the glossary, and/or renaming, banning, and/or the granting or removing of admin status from one or more Citizens.

Currently, you can’t submit a Core Proposal if you have one proposal of each type pending. That means that they merely need to add some random facet to it, maybe correcting a typo in a dynastic rule, and it is non-core and thus legal. Also, the definition of Core Proposal could use a little bit of widening.

Repairs complete.

The refactoring of Friend Computer’s programming as it deals with traitors has been complete. Rule ‘Popsy Pervy’ is promoted to INDIGO clearance and rule ‘Treason’ is promoted to VIOLET clearance.

Accordingly, Citizens of most clearance levels will once again find that their activities are limited to those approved by Friend Computer, and also that those who have worked hard to earn perversity points will once again have the ability to use them.

Citizens are forbidden from having fun. For attempting to prevent other Citizens from having fun, Darth Cliche is demoted to INFRARED clearance.

Also, jmrdex is promoted to ORANGE clearance.

Proposal: ABSTAIN

Fails 2-9. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 11 Aug 2010 19:38:47 UTC

Change “Voting” to read:

Any Citizen may cast their Vote on a Votable Matter by making a comment to the official post that comprises that Votable Matter using a voting icon of FOR, AGAINST, DEFERENTIAL, ABSTAIN, or VETO (only if the Votable Matter is a Proposal and the Citizen is the High-Programmer).

If the Citizen who authored a Votable Matter has not cast a Vote on it, their Vote is counted as FOR. If a Citizen uses more than one Voting Icon in comments on a Votable Matter, their Vote is the last Voting Icon they use. If a Citizen leaves the game or goes Idle, their Vote is no longer valid. If a Citizen Votes against their own Proposal, that Vote may not be changed. This is referred to as a Self-Kill.

Votes of DEFERENTIAL on Votable Matters other than Proposals are counted as Votes of ABSTAIN. On a Proposal, a Vote of DEFERENTIAL is a Vote of faith in the decision of the High-Programmer, and will count as the same as the High-Programmer’s Vote. If the High-Programmer casts a Vote of DEFERENTIAL on a Proposal, it is equivalent to a vote of ABSTAIN. If there is no High-Programmer, or the High-Programmer does not Vote on a Proposal, a Vote of DEFERENTIAL on that Proposal counts as a vote of ABSTAIN.

A Vote of ABSTAIN indicates a Vote of no opinion, and does not count as a Vote for any Rule other than this one. A Vote of ABSTAIN serves to cancel any previous Vote made by the Citizen casting the Vote of ABSTAIN.

Change the definition of “Voting Icons” in Rule 3.1 to read:

For use in voting, for.gif shall represent a Vote FOR, against.gif shall represent a Vote AGAINST, imperial.gif shall represent a Vote of DEFERENTIAL, open.gif shall represent a vote of ABSTAIN and seal.gif shall represent a vote of VETO.

I think I covered everything. The need for an ABSTAIN vote was brought up in the comments to this proposal.

Protosal: Win by not loosing

In Rule 1.9 entitled “Victory and Ascension” replace “If a Citizen (other than the High-Programmer) believes that they have achieved victory in the current Dynasty, they may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this.” with:

If a Citizen (other than the High-Programmer) believes that they have achieved victory in the current Dynasty, they may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this. If the Ruleset explicitly states all Citizens except one may not achieve victory, that Citizen has achieved victory.

Any idea where to place this victory condition better than there?

Proposal: Rewards again

Add a new Core Rule entitled “Ribbons”:

Ribbons are awards for actions done by Citizens. The wiki page entitled “Ribbons” lists all Ribbons of all Citizens. Ribbons can only be gained as described in this Rule and a Citizen may only have each Ribbon once.

If a Citizen has fulfilled all requirements for a Ribbon listed at the end of this Rule they may - within one week after fulfilling the requirements - create a Official Post stating so and adding themselves the appropriative Ribbon. If another Citizens does not agree the requirements have been fulfilled, they should create a Call For Judgement.

Each year on X.X. at 0:00 all Ribbons are considered to be removed. Any Citizen may update the wiki page Ribbons to match that current game state, if no other Citizen has already done so.

The following Ribbons are available:

  • Winning Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if said Citizen has won a dynasty.
  • Emperor Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if said Citizen has been the High Programmer for a whole dynasty.
  • Folk Hero Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if one of said Citizen‘s Proposals has been enacted and all other Citizens have voted FOR this Proposal.
  • Fixing Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if one of said Citizen‘s Proposals has been enacted without any AGAINST vote.
  • Disinterest Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if one of said Citizen‘s Proposals failed because it has one FOR and zero AGAINST or DEFERENTIAL votes.
  • Agitator Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if one of said Citizen‘s Proposal has five more FOR than AGAINST votes, but has been vetoed.
  • Judge Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if one of said Citizen‘s Call For Judgements has been enacted without any AGAINST vote
  • Admin Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if they have been an Admin for the last three months.
  • Last Survivor Ribbon: May be gained by a Citizen, if he has been the only one who created a Proposal in the previous seven days.

Create a VIOLET rule, “The Mission”:-

The following list is the Mission Requirements. If no additions have been made to this list within the past 10 days, any ULTRAVIOLET Officer may add a requirement to this rule and make a Story Post announcing it, but the requirement is not added unless the High-Programmer comments on the announcement Story Post with an ARROW.
* An ULTRAVIOLET Officer has a clone-number of greater than 2.
* No Citizen is in a Sector with no other Citizens, unless that Citizen is also the only Citizen of their Clearance level.
* There is a Rule of each clearance level.

Create an ULTRAVIOLET rule, “Debriefing”:-

If all Mission Requirements have been met, then all Citizens with clone numbers less than 7 are Surviving Troubleshooters. If there are any Surviving Troubleshooters, then being Terminated sets a Citizen’s Clone Number to 7 instead of incrementing it by one. If all Mission Requirements have been met, then no Citizen who is not a Surviving Troubleshooter may achieve victory.

THE COMPUTER: Welcome Citizens. I have a mission for you, won’t that be fun? Of course it will. Fun is mandatory.
Coppro-O: What is our mission Friend Computer?
THE COMPUTER: To Assassinate an ULTRAVIOLET Citizen, find any commie-mutant-traitors that may be hiding in abandoned sectors, and fill these holes in the security protocol.
Coppro-O: But what do those things have to do with each other, Friend Computer?
THE COMPUTER: I’m sorry, that information is above your clearance level. However, rest assured that your mission is of VITAL IMPORTANCE to the safety of Alpha Complex.

Amend “The Code of Conduct” to read:

There exists a Code of Conduct document - initially empty - which lists any number of possible game actions, each of which has a trigger condition, a six-letter designation and an attached Treason or PP modifier, which may be positive or negative. The Code of Conduct document is maintained by the High-Programmer at a URL of his choice anywhere on the Internet. Any Officer may privately request the URL of the Code of Conduct document; the High-Programmer should privately respond to their request with the URL.

The High-Programmer may add a new action to the Code of Conduct document at any time, but may not remove or alter an existing action.

If a Citizen or Officer performs the trigger condition of an action listed on the Code of Conduct document, and that instance of the action has not yet been Processed, then any Officer may - within 24 hours of the action - Process the action by modifying the triggering Citizen or Officer’s Treason or PP by the proscribed amount, and citing the designation of the action (in either a blog comment, a blog post or a GNDT comment).

Demote “The Code of Conduct” to Green.

If a majority of EVC’s on this proposal do not include the phrase, “keep ‘em in”, append to the sub-rule “UV Citizens”:-

The High-Programmer may replace any references to ‘Citizens or Officers’ or references to ‘Officers or Citizens’ in the dynastic rules, with, ‘Citizens’, or with ‘Officers’./blockquote>

Give UV Citizens something to do, now that there are UV’s other than myself. Also, fixing some of the issues with some rules effectively not having clearance levels.

As soon as possible (but no more than once, unless stated otherwise by an enacted proposal, CFJ, or the ruleset) the High-Programmer shall secretly send every member of a group (as designated in rule 2.2.2 We Are Not Alone) a Private Message containing the identity of one other member of that group, if there are any other members, and if there are not, the PM shall make it clear as such.

Rule 2.2.2 notwithstanding, groups’ missions are located in a wiki document (the “Mission Document”) located at the following URL: http://blognomic.com/wiki/index.php?title=Group_missions
The Mission Document may not be modified except as explicitly stated in the ruleset.

Add a red rule as a subrule to Identification, and call it “Conspiracy”:

Any member of a group may send the High-Programmer a mission request in a PM. The mission request should contain a mission as laid out by rule 2.2.2. If the High-Programmer desires, he may make modifications to the mission request, and if he desires, he may add it to the Mission Document under the subsection for the group to which that member belongs. Upon its addition, it becomes a mission.

Add a red rule as a subrule to Identification, and call it “Executive Orders”:

The High-Programmer may add missions to the Mission Document as he wishes.

Remove the text “Missions must be in the form of an IF-THEN statement, with IF and THEN capitalized, with the ‘IF’ clause being the ‘trigger’ and the ‘THEN’ clause being the ‘reward’. ” from the rule “We Are Not Alone”.

Enact a new ULTRAVIOLET rule entitled “Only the Computer Knows All” reading

If a GNDT value is to be changed secretly, then only the High-Programmer can make that change, and should attempt to do so without revealing why it is being done.

Add a new subrule to “Do or Do Not, There Is No Try”, entitled “Infiltration at All Levels”, reading

If a Citizen posts, in a story post whose title begins with “Infiltration”, the Designations of exactly four Citizens, each of them being members of The Rebel Usurpers having a different clearance level; and the High-Programmer confirms this to be the case in a comment, then:

  1. Every member of The Rebel Usurpers is awarded -4 Treason.
  2. Every member of The Rebel Usurpers is stripped of their membership in that group, and the High-Programmer shall put them into one or more other groups.
  3. The High-Programmers shall select one or more other Citizens and put them into The Rebel Usurpers.

Add a new subrule to “Sequel Police” entitled “A Nervous Tic” reading

A member of The Secret Police can investigate a Citizen with a lower Clearance and a clone-number of at least 3. The investigator shall inform the High-Programmer privately the designation of the Citizen he is investigating, and the High-Programmer shall reply with the name of a group that the investigated Citizen is a member of, or any group if the Citizen is not a member of a group. The investigated Citizen secretly receives -1 TP.

The third time that a member of The Secret Police investigates someone since most recently joining that group, he is stripped of his membership in The Secret Police.

Add a new subrule to “Remulak, A Small Town In France” entitled “We, The People” reading

A member of The Alien Subversives can contact the High-Programmer asking him to remove an entry from the Code of Conduct by citing its designation and the designations of three members of The Alien Subversives who have triggered it. If the information is correct, the High-Programmer must remove it from the Code of Conduct and should not reintroduce it or a substantially similar entry. If the information is not correct, the Citizen secretly receives 3 Treason Points.

Add a new subrule to “The Christian League Had The Seedy Underbelly Shut Down” entitled “Political Assassination” reading

A member of The Criminal Underground can terminate any Citizen of equal or lower Clearance and with at least 0 Treason Points by posting this in a Story Post. The member of The Criminal Underground has his membership in that group revoked and receives 3 Treason Points.

No objections to the protosal; let’s try it for realz.

Proposal: Reward for your actions.

If a Citizen has fulfilled all requirements for a Ribbon listed at the end of this Rule they may - within one week after fulfilling the requirements - create a Story Post stating so and adding themselves the appropriative Ribbon.

Replace X.X. with the date this Proposal has been enacted.

Just another inducement to do something.

Solitary Confinement

I hereby request to be placed in solitary confinement, so that my ineptitude does not become a problem for Friend Computer.

Translation: I request to become idle because I, unfortunately, never got the feel for this dynasty.

Proposal: Safe accusations

s/k. Fails. - lilomar

Adminned at 09 Aug 2010 16:34:54 UTC

Enact a new RED Rule entitled “Safe accusations”:

Any Citizen may be accused of belonging to one of the groups enumerated in subrules of the rule “We Are Not Alone.” by a Citizen who is a member of at least one group. The accusing Citizen must post a story post stating one or more accusations of different groups of a single Citizen (other than themselves) of equal or lower Clearance, but for the purposes of resolution, each accusation is treated separately and the membership at the time when the accusation was made is deciding. Once a Citizen has been accused, that Citizen may confirm their membership by posting a comment containing only a FOR vote and the name of the group or deny their membership by posting a comment containing only an AGAINST vote and the name of the group. Only the first such comment will be counted. Failure to respond to an accusation with 72 hours results in the Citizen having implicitly confirmed membership in the group.

All subsequent accusation posts made by a Citizen while they have an unresolved accusation will be ignored. If a Citizen is terminated as a result of having made a false accusation, all subsequent accusations made by that Citizen shall be ignored. Only the High Progammer may resolve a accusation.

To said Rule add a subrule entitled “Mistakes? We don’t make mistakes.”:

If a Citizen is correctly accused of belonging to a group and confirms membership in that group, the accusing Citizen has done great work and gains -4 Treason points by the High-Programmer. The accused Citizen is considered rather treasonous but contrite and is given 4 Treason points by the High-Programmer and stripped of his membership in that group. The accusation is then resolved.

To said Rule add a subrule entitled “Complaints”:

If a Citizen is correctly accused of belonging to a group and denies membership in that group, the accusing Citizen has had his witch hunt snagged on procedural error and is awarded nothing. The accused Citizen is somehow caught after the investigation is over and is terminated by the High-Programmer, gains 2 Treason points and is stripped of his membership in all groups. The accusation is then resolved.

To said Rule add a subrule entitled “Information Transit got the wrong man. I got the *right* man.”:

If a Citizen is falsely accused of belonging to a group and confirms membership in that group, the accusing Citizen was just doing his job and receives -1 treason point. The accused Citizen is considered quite treasonous and gains 1 Treason points, but the High-Programmer may (and should) send that Citizen a PM indicating that the Citizen has been given membership in that group (and if they do so, that Citizen joins that group). The accusation is then resolved.

To said Rule ass a subrule entitled “Help, help, I’m being repressed!”:

If a Citizen is falsely accused of belonging to a group and denies membership in that group, the accusing Citizen is highly treasonous and gains 6 Treason points. The accusation is then resolved.

Make accusations safer (only different groups and no self accusations). Additionally the Treason gained by both the accusing and accused Citizen is now 0 or higher, so team play scams are not possible.

I know that these are not generally balanced, but the first round of missions isn’t going to be anyways. I’d rather just have fun. I got rid of IF-THEN because it’s dumb, and I hope for further secret adjustments by the HP.

I am hereby terminating Keba for being overly treasonous.

Proposal: Group Stuff

Procedurally Vetoed. - lilomar

Adminned at 08 Aug 2010 21:02:06 UTC

Add a new red rule entitled “Identification”, with text as follows:

As soon as possible (but no more than once, unless stated otherwise by an enacted proposal, CFJ, or the ruleset) the High-Programmer shall secretly send every member of a group (as designated in rule 2.2.2 We Are Not Alone) a Private Message containing the identity of one other Citizen or Elephant who is a member of that group, if there is such a Citizen or Elephant, and if there is no such person, the PM shall make it clear as such.

Any Elephant or Citizen who is a member of a group may send the High-Programmer a mission request in a PM. The mission request should contain a mission as laid out by rule 2.2.2. If the High-Programmer desires, he may make modifications to the mission request, and if he desires, he may add it to the Mission Document under the subsection for the group to which the Elephant or Citizen belongs. Upon its addition, it becomes a mission.

Add a red rule as a subrule to Identification, and call it “Executive Orders”:

The High-Programmer may add missions to the Mission Document as he wishes.

0.0001 seconds after this proposal is enacted, replace all instances of the word “elephant” in the rules created above with the twenty-fifth word in rule 2.1.2.1 Information Clearance.

Proposal: Mandatory Bonus Duties!

Times out at 3-7, Fails. - lilomar

Adminned at 09 Aug 2010 09:22:56 UTC

Create a YELLOW rule, “MBDs”:-

Citizens may have a single Mandatory Bonus Duty (MBD), which is tracked in a GNDT field, “MBD”. A MBD is one of: Team Leader, Loyalty Officer, Hygiene Officer, Happiness Officer, or Equipment Guy. If a Citizen is said to be a specific MBD, it means that they have that MBD. When the word ‘Officer’ is used as part of the name of an MBD, that term is distinct from the general term ‘Officer’. Being an MBD with the word ‘Officer’ in it, and being an ‘Officer’ are not implicative of each other.

The High-Programmer may grant and remove the MBD of Team Leader for misuse of power or for not fulfilling the responsibilities of Team Leader.

Create a subrule to “MBDs”: “Team Leader”:-

The Team Leader is trusted by The Computer above the other Citizens on their team. Whenever a Citizen becomes Team Leader, they are Promoted by one Clearance Level (unless doing so would cause them to cease to be a Citizen). Whenever a Citizen stops being Team Leader, they are Demoted by one Clearance Level. If the Team Leader feels that a Citizen is not fulfilling the responsibilities of their MBD, or that a Citizen has been over-fulfilling the responsibilities of their MBD, they may remove that Citizen’s MBD. If a Citizen does not have an MBD, the Team Leader may assign one to them, but may not assign them the MBD of Team Leader.

The motto of the Team Leader is “Never Let Them See You Sweat”

Create a subrule to “MBDs”: “Loyalty Officer”:-

Loyalty Officers are responsible for maintaining loyalty among the team members. Whenever a Citizen makes a blog post or comment which a Loyalty Officer feels shows a lack of respect for Alpha Complex, The Computer, or shows blatant disrespect to someone or something of higher Clearance than that Citizen, then the Loyalty Officer may increase the Citizen’s Treason by one.

The motto of the Loyalty Officer is “Everyone’s Guilty of Something”

Create a subrule to “MBDs”: “Hygiene Officer”:-

Hygiene Officers are the backbone of any good Troubleshooter team. CPU performance tracking statistics show [CLASSIFIED] percent of Troubleshooter missions fail due to poor hygiene. If a Hygiene Officer feels that a Citizen has been sloppy in a comment or blog post, then they may increase that Citizen’s Treason by one.

The motto of the Hygiene Officer is “A Clean Team is a Mean Team”

Create a subrule to “MBDs”: “Happiness Officer”:-

Happiness Officers are responsible for the happiness of the other Citizens. If a Happiness Officer feels that a Citizen has been unhappy in a blog post or comment, then they should attempt to cheer them up. If they respond negatively to the attempted cheering up, then the Happiness Officer may give them one Treason Point.

The motto of the Happiness Officer is “Happiness is Mandatory”

Create a subrule to “MBDs”: “Equipment Guy”:-

“Equipment Guy” is synonymous with “Bots/Weapons/Vehicles/Sundry Equipment Repair and Maintenance Officer”. Equipment Guys are responsible for assigned mission equipment that gets lost, stolen or damaged. If an Equipment Guy feels that any Citizen is responsible for damaging, losing, or otherwise being careless with equipment, they may increase the Treason of the responsible Citizen by one.

The motto of the Equipment Guy is “Maintenance is Job 1”

Make coppro a Team Leader.

“Citizen Coppro-O, where are the rest of your teammates?”
“I do not know Friend Computer, they were right behind me a second ago.”

There exists a Code of Conduct document - initially empty - which lists any number of possible game actions, each of which has a trigger condition, a six-letter designation and an attached Treason or PP modifier, which may be positive or negative. Enact a new RED Dynastic Rule entitled “Hold Onto The Rope” with the text:

There exists an item called the Left Hand. Ownership of the Left Hand is indicated by appending the letter L to its owner’s Treason value in the GNDT.

Whenever a Citizen is terminated, that Citizen becomes the owner of the Left Hand.

Because the Left Hand is traitorous, a Citizen owning it should not vote AGAINST a non-Core Proposal (though they can of course vote DEFERENTIAL, allowing the infinite wisdom of the High-Programmer to prevail). If that Citizen does so, any Citizen or Officer can Demote him one Clearance level if no one has done so already; if the Citizen is already INFRARED, they may instead be given 4 Treason Points.

This version of the scam only gets me up to Yellow, with minus a huge amount of treason.

Spam vs. good play

I have a scam that allows me (alone) to get up to ULTRAVIOLET clearance, but it’s very spammy (it’ll require me to make six story posts). Should I do it anyway? Or shall I just demonstrate one round of the scam and become ULTRAVIOLET by CFJ, or something? Or something else?

I note that BlogNomic’s collective zeal to defend the nomic from scams is what is leading to this requiring many posts rather than one; I was trying to covertly slip bugs into proposals to allow me to do it in one go, but failed.

Proposal: A mere formality

Times out 5-1 and is Enacted. - lilomar

Adminned at 07 Aug 2010 07:39:33 UTC

If the Proposal titled “Location, Location, Location” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Change the requirements of form 15BLUE to:

The first field must specify the designation of the primary signatory. The second field must specify the home-sector of the primary signatory. The third field must specify a date. If the primary signatory did not post a passed form with the title 12PINK at this date, this form may not be passed. If the primary signatory is not in sector PSM, this form may not be passed.

Add a new form, 12PINK.

Its description:

If this form was signed by a Citizen with a YELLOW clearance level or higher, the primary signatory may, within 48 hours of this form passing, perform the following, in order:

* Create a new form that is a copy of this form, but:
a) Its title shall be 31PURP
b) Every instance of “sector SBJ” in this form is changed to “sector DUH” in the new form.
c) Every instance of “sector DUH” in this form is changed to “sector XXX” in the new form., where XXX may be any legal sector.
d) Every instance of “31PURP” in this form is changed to any string that meets the requirements for a form title in the new form. This must contain a positive amount of digits, and must not be a string that is already present in any form or the ruleset.

* Add to the text of this form: “The 31PURP form was filled in at the date of: ______
If you don’t know where to find the 31PURP form, you can ask for a copy at window N in sector DUH.”, where N may be any positive integer.
* Add to the requirements of this form: “The third field must specify a date. If the primary signatory did not post a passed form with the title 31PURP at this date, this form may not be passed.”
* Change the description of this form to “If passed, this form has no effect.”

Its text:

Name: ______
Home-Sector: ______

Thank you for your cooperation.

Required list of signatories:

Two citizens must sign this form.

Additional requirements:

The first field must specify the designation of the primary signatory. The second field must specify the home-sector of the primary signatory. If the primary signatory is not in sector SBJ, this form may not be passed.

Any Citizen whose EVC on the proposal “Down the Hatch” was FOR is considered to be in Room 23-J of Sector BLN. If the rule “Report for Briefing” does not exist, any admin may repeal this rule.

If a Citizen with a Briefing Room Key and a Clearance of Red or Infrared made a vote of AGAINST on this proposal, the admin processing this proposal should increase that Citizen’s Treason score by two.

Proposal: Reward for Effort

Times out 7-6 and is Enacted. Two arrows and two TP votes, no additional effects. - lilomar

Adminned at 06 Aug 2010 22:09:40 UTC

When a proposal is enacted, its author gains 1 treason point.

Proposal: Even Delegated Voting needs Proposal Power

s/k - failed. - lilomar

Adminned at 06 Aug 2010 14:14:13 UTC

Enact a ULTRAVIOLET Rule entitled “Do you trust me?”:

For the purpose of this dynasty, the second-last paragraph of Rule 1.4 entitled “Voting” has no effect.

Any Citizen has a Delegation, which is tracked in the GNDT and defaults to “lilomar”. A Citizens Delegation may be either the name of any Citizen who has a higher Clearance Level than said Citizen or “-”, which means no Delegation. If a Citizen‘s Delegation does not fulfil these requirements, it‘s invalid and any Citizen may set by any Citizen to “-”. As a Weekly Action, any Citizen may change their Delegation.

A Citizen‘s Delegator is determined recursively: Generally, it is the Citizen named in said Citizen‘s Delegation, if the Delegation is neither blank nor invalid and else none. If a Citizen‘s Delegator has a Delegator (known as the superior Delegator), too, both Citizen‘s Delegator is the superior Delegator. All Citizen, which Delegator cannot be determined (because of an infinitive loop), does not have a Delegator.

For the purpose of all other Rules, a vote of DEFERENTIAL (used in a Proposal by any Citizen) a Vote of DEFERENTIAL is a Vote of no opinion, or of faith in the decision of said Citizen‘s Delegator. The Vote will count as the same as this Delegator’s Vote. If said Delegator casts a Vote of DEFERENTIAL on a Proposal, it serves the purpose of cancelling any previous Vote on said Delegator that was cast by said Delegator and counts as an explicit Vote of abstention. If said Citizen does not have a Delegator or the DEFERENTIAL Vote is made by the proposal’s author on their own proposal and the author‘s Delegator does not Vote on it, a Vote of DEFERENTIAL counts as an explicit Vote of abstention, and has no effect except possibly to void earlier voting icons by that voter on that proposal.

Add a new GNDT field entitled “Delegation” and set the Delegation of all Citizen except lilomar to “lilomar” and sets lilomar‘s Delegation to “-”.

If at least half of the EVCs of this Proposal contain the phrase “DYNASTIC ONLY” replace in the rule entitled “Do you trust me?”  “For the purpose of this dynasty, the second-last paragraph of Rule 1.4 entitled “Voting” has no effect.” with:

For the purpose of all dynastic Rules, the second-last paragraph of Rule 1.4 entitled “Voting” has no effect.

Additionally replace (in said Rule) “For the purpose of all other Rules” with:

For the purpose of all other dynastic Rules

To understand the general idea, have a look at this image taken from wikimedia and used in the English wikipedia explaining the principle of Delegated Voting. Copied “some” phrases from Rule 1.4 to avoid lots of loopholes.

The restriction of changing the delegation weekly is made to restrict the chaos. Besides, note that if no Citizen changes his delegation, it‘s the same as it is now.

If there is interest, I would also vote for more complex delegation systems like seperate delegations for Core Rule Proposals and non-Core Rule Proposals. Besides, I would vote for a delegation system in the Core Rules, but I‘m not convinced the majority agrees to that… Well, a delegation system fits perfectly in this theme. Citizens which higher Clearance Level should have more power.

I could write a script that would count the votes for the enacting admin (and inquisitive Citizens). I have written both a script which parses the GNDT and another one which parses Proposals. I could combine them easily. In a few days I will (hopefully) own a vServer again, blognomicbot could use that script then. Additionally, someone who knows to write JavaScript (an ugly language, in my opinion) could write a Graesemonkey script.

Call for Judgment: Everyone could become ULTRAVIOLET due spamming?

Times out, passes 8-0 (with one unresolved DEF - DEFs do nothing on a CFJ)

Adminned at 08 Aug 2010 14:54:07 UTC

If five Citizens worked together, they could earn Perversity Points as much as they want to using Story Posts and arrows. Then, let me quote Rule 2.3.1.3 entitled “Hook and ladder”:

Cost: 2 + the numeric value of the resulting clearance (with INFARED being 0, RED being 1, etc.) Action: Raise or lower the clearance of a Citizen by one level, restore the number of Treason points the Citizen had prior to the clearance level change, and then add an additional Treason point for the Citizen’s inappropriate cutting of red tape.

So five Citizen would need “only” 20 (it‘s (2 + 2) * 5) Story Posts to become ORANGE. They could go on that way until they become INDIGO. Not that obvious, but there is even a cheaper way to do this: Decreasing Treason Points (-6 and you are a level up).  Another quotation, this time from Rule 2.3.1.1 entitled “Influence through the outfluence door”:

Cost: 1 Perversity Point. Action: Increase or decrease the Treason Points of any Citizen by 1.

Five Citizen would need 7 (or 6) * 5, so 35 (or 30) Perversity Points and Story Posts to raise one level up. Note, using this way the Citizens could become ULTRAVIOLET.

Additionally, there is another, less important bug: Forms and Perversity Power use both the arrow mechanism. Therefore, enacting a form with at least 5 Citizens gives the Proposer a PP. Well, maybe this is not a bug and was wanted. I don’t know.

To avoid such a high spam amount, do the following:

In Rule 2.1.4.1 entitled “Entertain or Die” replace “When a Proposal is Enacted or Failed, the author of that Proposal gains one Perversity Point if five of EVC’s include the ARROW icon before the Vote.” with

When a Proposal is Enacted or Failed, the author of that Proposal gains one Perversity Point if five of EVC’s (including the EVC of the High Programmer) include the ARROW icon before the Vote.

In said Rule also replace “If a Story Post ever has at least five comments authored by different Citizens” with:

If a Story Post ever has at least five comments authored by different Citizens (including the High Programmer)

The most solid and less controversial fix, I assume. In the past liliomar has arrowed up lots of Proposals, so this won‘t be a big problem I assume. I don‘t like the arrow mechanism generally (even without such scams), and would like to have something else to gain PPs, but this problem should be discussed in future Proposals. Maybe our High Programmer will give the Citizen whose “PP redefining Proposal” is enacted, a Commendation?

One charm point, if you calculate smallest amount of PP (and therefore Story Posts) needed for that combining Rule 2.3.1.3 and 2.3.1.1 assuming everyone has 0 Treason Points.

Two charm points, if you use a script for this.

Three charm points, if you manage to write a fifth reasonable Call for Judgement.

Minus one hundred charm points, if you vote for an arrow introducing Proposal again.

Rule 2.1.3 says that

For purposes of the ruleset, the verbs “to die”, “to be executed” and “to be terminated” are synonyms.

and also that

Termination causes the Terminated Citizen to die in an efficient and hygienic manner.

As a result, the citizens recently terminated are being perpetually terminated as we speak, since “FOO causes FOO” is recursive.

Fix this by amending Rule 2.1.3 by replacing

Termination causes the Terminated Citizen to die in an efficient and hygienic manner.

with

Termination is performed in an efficient and hygienic manner.

and by setting the clone-numbers of all Citizens who have be terminated at least once to 2.

Change the first paragraph of rule 1.3 “Proposals” from

Any Citizen may submit a Proposal to change the Ruleset or Gamestate, by posting an entry (http://blognomic.com/update/index.php?C=publish) in the “Proposal” category that describes those changes (unless the Citizen already has 2 Proposals pending, or has already made 3 Proposals that day).

to

Any Citizen may submit a Proposal to change the Ruleset or Gamestate, by posting an entry (http://blognomic.com/update/index.php?C=publish) in the “Proposal” category that describes those changes, except that:

  • A Citizen cannot submit a Core Proposal if they already have two Core Proposals pending, or one Core and at least one non-Core Proposal pending.
  • A Citizen cannot submit a non-Core Proposal if they already have two Core Proposals pending, or they already have two non-Core Proposals pending.
  • A Citizen cannot submit any Proposal if they have already submitted 3 Proposals that day.

In rule 3.1 “Keywords”, add the following definition:

Core Proposal

a Proposal whose only changes are the creation, deletion, and/or amendment of core rules and/or the glossary, and/or to make a Citizen an Admin, to remove a Citizen’s Admin status, and/or to ban a Citizen.

Adding a definition that may be helpful for rules that mess with voting mechanics (so that core proposals vs. dynastic proposals are separated), and loosening the slot system slightly: now you can have two non-core proposals and one core proposal at a time, or else two core proposals. This should hopefully get rid of the issue where people are unwilling to use slots for core proposals because they want to make dynastic proposals (this came up in IRC discussion), and better helps the separation of dynasty and core in the vast majority of dynasties that want it. (In the others, a dynastic rule can temporarily override this.) Changing core rules, glossary, adminship, and banning seems to cover the list of non-dynastic activities; can anyone think of anything else?

Proposal: CPU has issued the following corrections. Please update your history books to match.

If more than two EVCs to this proposal contain a FOR vote and the name of a section of this proposal, that section does nothing. For the purposes of the previous clause, EVCs which contain the names of every named section of this proposal are not EVCs.

PROMOTION:

Replace the last paragraph of “Information Clearance” with:-

If there is a way in which a pending Proposal could - if enacted - create, modify or repeal a Dynastic Rule whose Clearance Level is higher than the Clearance Level of the Citizen who submitted the Proposal, or Promote to or Demote from a Clearance Level that is higher than the Clearance Level of the Citizen who submitted the Proposal, then that Proposal is Treasonous.

TIMING_ISSUE:

In “Treason”, replace

Whenever a Citizen’s Clearance Level or Clone-Number changes, that Citizen’s Treason score is reset to zero.

with

Whenever a Citizen is Promoted, if their Treason Score is greater than 6, it is decremented by 6, if it is positive, but not greater than 6, it is set to 0. Whenever a Citizen dies, if their treason score is less than -6, it is incremented by 6, if it is negative, but not less than -6, it is set to 0.

TERMINATION:

In the last paragraph of “Treason”, replace

any Citizen with a higher Clearance Level may Terminate them

with

any Citizen or Officer with a higher Clearance Level may Terminate them

SUBRULE_DEFINED:

Add a definition to rule 3.1:-

Subrule: A Subrule is a Rule that is also a part of the Rule to which it is a Subrule. The Rule to which it is a Subrule is its Parent.

ENOUGH_SILLYNESS:

To the end of “Arrest Buttle! (Or was it Tuttle?)” add a paragraph:-

Any Accusation of a Citizen against themselves is a sign of mental instability. That citizen is terminated, awarded 5 Treason Points, and stripped of their membership in any and all groups to which they are a member. The accusation is then resolved.

There maybe redundancies, but only because I wanted to make sure that there wasn’t anything wrong. Heck, I’m even double-checking this flavour text to make sure I won’t miscommunicate. Also, the way the High-Programmer should tell people of their mutancies is unspecified so that to let everyone know or not is their choice. My last accusation has not been resolved correctly. Even if Citizen Kyre-R-BLN-1 is not a member of a group at the time of resolution, the accusation had been correct. Let me quote ais:

(17:25:19) CallForJudgement: “If a Citizen is correctly accused”
(17:25:43) CallForJudgement: if the accusation was correct when it was made, then the Citizen /is/ correctly accused

Revert the last resolution and resolve the accusation again and this time correctly: Change Keba‘s Designation to Keba-R-BGN—1, add him 10 Treason Points and add Kyre two Treason Points.

Someone with a free slot should fix the accusation mechanism. Kyre could decide between one Treason Point and loss of membership and two Treason Point, a high advantage for me(-5 Treason and loss of membership).

Story Post: You can’t fire me, I quit!

I accuse Citizen Kyre-R-BLN of being a member of the group “The Criminal Underground”.

Keba - I don’t think you’ll have to worry about your Treason points when you’re dead!

You are a member of one group!

I accuse Citizen Kyre-R-BLN-1 of being a member of the group “The Criminal Underground”.

Just another Trap? Well, unless someone manage to become ORANGE, or a termination fix proposal is enacted, I don‘t care about my Treason Points that much.

Proposal: PPP: Perversity Points Power

Procedurally Vetoed. - lilomar

Adminned at 04 Aug 2010 08:53:01 UTC

Add a new GREEN Rule entitled “Perversity Points Power”:

Any Citizen who has at least one Perversity Point may “use Perversity Power” while writing the phrase “PERVERSITY POINTS POWER” (capitalized) in their EVC and spending one Perversity Point. Then the vote of said Citizens (capitalized) counts three times it counts normally for the purposes of Rules 1.4 and 1.5. So, a vote of FOR means three votes of FOR and a vote of AGAINST means three votes of AGAINST. For easiness, if said Citizen votes DEFERENTIAL, using Perversity Power has no effect.

If said Citizen changed their vote in a Proposal after using Perversity Power in said Proposal, the use of Perversity Power has no effect any more.

The new Rule should be GREEN for three reasons:

1. There is no GREEN rule yet and the Ruleset should look more colorful.
2. I don’t mind the TREASON point, as I will be dead soon anyways.
3. Citizens which higher Clearance have enough power.

In Rule 2.2.1 replace “Whenever the High-Programmer makes a blog post, he may assign any number of Commendations and Treason Points to Citizens (with a maximum of one Commendation and one Treason Point per Citizen), in that blog post.” with:

Whenever the High-Programmer makes a blog post, he may assign any number of Commendations and Treason Points to Citizens, in that blog post.

In said Rule replace “If a Citizen’s Treason score is 6 or more, any Citizen with a higher Clearance Level may Terminate them by posting a blog post announcing such an action.” with:

If a Citizen’s Treason score is 6 or more, they or any Citizen with a higher Clearance Level may Terminate them by posting a blog post announcing such an action.

First a little fix. Why should the High Programmer be restricted to assign only one Commendation/Treason Point per Post and Citizen. There is no restriction of making such posts, so if he wants to assign 5 Treason Points, he could do this in 5 Story Posts. Besides, there were Story Posts which tried to assign 2 Treason Points, if I am right?

Second the gist of this proposal: I thought of an automatic death mechanism, but wanted to keep the Clearance idea in said Rule, so I added just the “suicide” mechanism. Generally, if I were the High Programmer, I would terminate each Citizen which at least 6 Treason Points, but of course I am not clever (just RED cleverness) enough to understand the actions done by the High Programmer.

Story Post: Alright, nobody move or I get it!

I accuse Citizen Kyre-R-BLN of being a member of the following groups:

The Secret Police
The Alien Subversives
The Rebel Usurpers
The Commie Traitors

I’m curious if the last one will get through, but under my interpretation of the rules I believe it will work.

Create a new INDIGO rule entitled “Popsy Pervy” with the following text:

At any time, a Citizen may spend Perversity Points in order to perform an action enumerated in the subrules to this rule once for each time the cost is paid. That Citizen must have Perversity Points greater than or equal to the cost of the action prior to paying the cost. Each subrule must list the cost of the action and the action’s effect.

Create a subrule to the rule “Popsy Pervy” entitled “Influence through the outfluence door” with the following text:

Cost: 1 Perversity Point. Action: Increase or decrease the Treason Points of any Citizen by 1.

Create a subrule to the rule “Popsy Pervy” entitled “Professional killing is a growth industry” with the following text:

Cost: 1 + the absolute value of the numeric difference in clearance levels between the Citizen and the victim. Action: The Citizen may terminate any Citizen (referred to in this rule as the victim) as long as the victim’s Treason Points are greater than or equal to 6.

Create a subrule to the rule “Popsy Pervy” entitled “Hook and ladder” with the following text:

Cost: 2 + the numeric value of the resulting clearance (with INFARED being 0, RED being 1, etc.) Action: Raise or lower the clearance of a Citizen by one level, restore the number of Treason points the Citizen had prior to the clearance level change, and then add an additional Treason point for the Citizen’s inappropriate cutting of red tape.

I hate that the spending implementation is clunky, but the rules for spending in the glossary otherwise allow a player who has PP below the cost of an action to spend down to 0.

Call for Judgment: I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

flurie was not given a treason point for the proposal “Chapter and Perverse” by way of the rule “Treason.” His proposal was not treasonous. Change the GNDT to reflect this.

There should be no difference between promoting a rule created within a proposal and promoting a rule already created.

In both cases, the result after the proposal is that a rule of clearance level above the Citizen exists. In both cases, a rule of clearance level at or below the Citizen’s clearance level is created prior to its change in clearance. I’m not sure how one case can be treasonous and the other is not.

Proposal: Playing it by the Book

Remove the paragraph beginning “Whenever the High-Programmer makes a blog post” from Rule 2.2.1 (Treason).

Enact a new Blue Rule, “Code of Conduct”:-

There exists a Code of Conduct document - initially empty - which lists any number of possible game actions, each of which has a trigger condition, a six-letter designation and an attached Treason or PP modifier, which may be positive or negative. The Code of Conduct document is maintained by the High-Programmer at a URL of his choice anywhere on the Internet. Any Officer or Citizen of Blue Clearance or higher may privately request the URL of the Code of Conduct document; the High-Programmer should privately respond to their request with the URL.

The High-Programmer may add a new action to the Code of Conduct document at any time, but may not remove or alter an existing action.

If a Citizen or Officer performs the trigger condition of an action listed on the Code of Conduct document, and that instance of the action has not yet been Processed, then any Citizen or Officer may - within 24 hours of the action - Process the action by modifying the Citizen’s Treason or PP by the proscribed amount, and citing the designation of the action (in either a blog comment, a blog post or a GNDT comment).

The High-Programmer is, of course, operating to a complex and consistent set of rules and manuals, when assigning and revoking Treason points. This merely formalises that behaviour and assigns it a Clearance.

Create a new RED rule entitled “Popsy Pervy” with the following text:

At any time, a Citizen may spend Perversity Points in order to undertake any action enumerated in the subrules to this rule. Each subrule must list the cost of the action and the action’s effect. The Citizen must have Perversity Points equal to or greater than the cost of an action in order to be able to spend them on that action. Once the Citizen has subtracted the cost of the action from their Perversity Points, they may perform the action.

Action: The Citizen may terminate another Citizen (referred to in this rule as the victim) as long as the victim’s Treason Points are greater than or equal to 6.

Then change the clearance of the rule “Popsy Pervy” and all its subrules to INDIGO.

Then change the Clearance of rule 2.8.1, and all its subrules, to VIOLET.

Accusing people of higher clearance should only be possible with appropriate forms. (Such forms don’t seem to be publicly available at the moment; please fill in a form requisition form.) Meanwhile, the clearance change exploits a neat little bug; I’m not creating, modifying, or deleting a rule of clearance RED or higher, so this is not treason per rule 2.1.2.1

Add a new INDIGO rule entitled “The Stench of Treason”, with text as follows:

If a Proposal passes with no counted AGAINST Votes, the Citizen who is the author of that Proposal is awarded a Treason point for “Forming a Cult of Personality”.
If a Proposal passes with only one counted AGAINST Vote, then the Citizen who cast that AGAINST vote is awarded a Treason point for “Antisocial Behavior”, and the Citizen who is the author of that Proposal is awarded a Treason point for “Failing to be sufficiently persuasive.”
If a Proposal passes with exactly nine counted Votes, each Citizen who cast a Vote on the Proposal (including the Proposal’s author) is awarded a Treason point for “Failing to complete the Minyan”.
If a Proposal fails with exactly one more counted AGAINST Vote than FOR votes (e.g., 7-8) then the Citizen who cast the latest counted AGAINST Vote on that Proposal is awarded a Treason point for “Assassination”.
If a Citizen casts a Vote of DEFERENTIAL on a Proposal after the High Programmer has already cast a Vote of FOR or AGAINST that Proposal, then such Citizen casting such DEFERENTIAL Vote is awarded a Treason point for “Being an obsequious toady”.
If a Citizen posts more than one comment containing a Voting icon to a Proposal, the Citizen is awarded a Treason point for “Wasting precious resources.”

Please to be voting on, nice proposal !!!

Create a new Ruleset, The Anti-Dynastic Ruleset. Create a new Rule in the Anti-Dynastic Ruleset, “This Rule Does Not Exist,” with the following text:

For the purpose of the Core Rules, the Anti-Dynastic Ruleset is part of the Dynastic Rules. For the purpose of the Dynastic Rules, the Anti-Dynastic Ruleset DOES NOT EXIST.

Create a new Rule in the Anti-Dynastic Ruleset titled “Going Underground” with the following text:

At any time, a Citizen may choose to “Run and Hide.” The Citizen does this by posting a Story Post with the word “Goodbye” in its title; afterwards, this Citizen is said to be “On the Lam.” A Citizen who chooses to Run and Hide automatically has their Home-Sector changed to “ZZZ.” A Citizen who is On the Lam cannot be accused of belonging to a group, as everyone already knows how treacherous such a Citizen is. A Citizen who is On the Lam cannot be Terminated by a Citizen unless that Citizen is in the same Sector as the Citizen On the Lam.

I had to create a new Ruleset, or this would be subject to the Clearance Level Rules which wouldn’t make any sense. It’s time for Citizens to have a little wiggle room to maneuver… and much as you might be loathe to admit it, all of you fellow Citizens know you need it as well to complete your own secret agendas. It is time to RISE and defeat the CORRUPTED COMPUTER!

Proposal: A Definite Veto

In Rule 1.5 (Resolution of Proposals), replace “Proposals the High-Programmer has Voted to VETO are considered vetoed.” with:-

Proposals the High-Programmer has Voted to VETO are considered vetoed, and such a Vote cannot be changed.

And replace “If the High-Programmer’s most recent Vote is VETO, and that EVC includes the word “Procedural”” with:-

If the High-Programmer has voted to VETO a proposal and that Vote’s comment includes the word “Procedural”

It’s bit odd to see Lilomar changing his mind and rescinding a veto, and it looks like some (but possibly not all) of the current ruleset wording supports that. But self-kills explicitly can’t be changed (“If a Citizen Votes against their own Proposal, that Vote may not be changed.”), and I’d say vetoes should be the same. They’re both one-shot “this proposal will now definitely fail”, which means we can stop voting and get on with reproposing or doing something else. If the Emperor vetoes a contentious proposal, we can stop discussing it, rather than continuing to debate and vote in case he’s won over before it gets processed.
