For the time being, let us assume that I am going to invest some more time in the BlogNomic infrastructure on some weekends henceforth.

The first and biggest thing that’s needed attention for quite some time is the wiki. Our version of MediaWiki is ancient. It is also not easily upgradeable to something newer. What we’re probably going to have to do is just create a new MediaWiki installation and manually port everything over.

Unfortunately, that effort is made difficult by the huge amounts of spam on the current wiki. Fortunately, our version of MediaWiki provides a list of pages ordered by number of pageviews. That link shows the 500 most popular pages, and I don’t think many (if any) pages after that are going to be legit.

So. Excalabur’s idea is for us to have some sort of in-game benefit/reward for people who sift through those, mark them, and port the legit ones to the new wiki. I think that’s generally a good idea, but I have no idea what’s going on with the current dynasty.

So this is basically a Request for Comment on this general situation, to get people’s ideas and reactions, and maybe get some idea of what a good time to do this would be, etc etc.

Proposal: arth hates asexual reprodution

Self-Vetoed -Darth

Adminned at 01 Sep 2009 09:18:40 UTC

If the Proposal titled “Repopulation” passed, this Proposal does nothing.

Add a new rule called “Descendants”:

Each Survivor has a number called Descendants, which is tracked in the GNDT and is initially 0.

As a weekly action, a Living Survivor (the Parent) may Reproduce by choosing another Living Survivor (the Other Parent). The Parent then makes a Fitness Test; if it passes, they increase their own Descendants and the Other Parent’s Descendants by DICE3.

The Population is equal to the number of Survivors, plus the total of all Survivors’ Descendants.

Add a new subrule to Descendants, called “Kidnapped at birth!”:

Within 24 hours of any Survivor (called the Parent) increasing their own Descendants by a number (called N), any other Survivor (called the Kidnapper) may attempt to Kidnap, by making a Fitness Test. If the Fitness Test is Passed, the Kidnapper may decrease the Parent’s Descendants by N and increase their own Descendants by N; however, if it is Failed, the Kidnapper suffers damage, the Parent’s Rage is increased by 5, and the Parent’s Watching is set to the Kidnapper.

Add a new subrule to Descendants, called “Repopulation”:

If the Population is ever equal to or greater than 500, the Survivor with the highest amount of Descendants achieves victory.

Don’t ask why two players of the same gender can have kids.

Proposal: We have met the enemy

Quorumed 9-1 -Darth

Adminned at 03 Sep 2009 16:21:31 UTC

Part 1:

Introduce a new Dynastic rule called “Victory Conditions”, as follows:

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Ruleset:
(1) No Healthy or Wounded Survivor who is not a Cultist may achieve Victory if any Cultists are Healthy or Wounded; and
(2) No Cultist may achieve Victory if there are any Healthy or Wounded Survivors who are not Cultists.

Part 2: If a majority of the Effective Vote Comments to this proposal include the phrase “kill the zombies too”, then replace the phrase “if any Cultists are Healthy or Wounded” in clause (1) above with “if any Cultists are Healthy, Wounded or Infected”.

Proposal: Time-Testing Proposal

If this Proposal passes, increase the Fitness of each and every Survivor by one, once.

Seeing if this starts in negative time.

W…wh…wha?

I, player Oze, announce my intention to return to this game of BlogNomic, and to shed the dratted Idle status.

TestNomic

I have an idea.

A new nomic on the BlogNomic site, called TestNomic.

There, we will test changes to the core rules, with themeless dynasties running in the background. If a change to the TN core rules seems to not have loopholes, after a couple weeks, we can add it to BN’s rules.

Also, if in TestNomic’s dynastic rules, there is an interesting rule, a player might adapt it to the BN dynasty.

I’m adding it to the site right now, as it can’t possibly hurt BN. Comments and suggestions?

Proposal: I’ll lend you a time machine (to fix your existential crisis)

Vetoed -Darth

Adminned at 31 Aug 2009 08:45:59 UTC

Create a new rule “Deus Ex Machina”:

Somewhere, on some deserted laboratory, exists a Time Machine. If at any time a Survivor comes in possession of the Time Machine, that Survivor may, as a daily action, attempt to travel into the past and prevent the Apocalypse. To successfully prevent the Apocalypse, first the Survivor must have a Vaccine for the Infection, a Piece of Strawberry Bubblegum, and a Red Paper-clip; as well as taking and passing a Fitness Test. No Survivor may attempt to prevent the Apocalypse until they are in possession of the Time Machine. Whenever a Survivor prevents the Apocalypse, that Survivor has achieved victory.

To prevent slowdown, let me give you directions.

Proposal: You can’t see me when the lights are out

Fails 4-5. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Sep 2009 07:44:58 UTC

Create a new sub-rule, “Darkness Lurking” under rule “Watch Your Back”:

As a daily action which can only be performed between 20:00 UTC and 04:00 UTC, a Survivor may Hide in the Darkness. To do so, they must take and pass a Fitness Test and make a comment of “Hiding” in the GNDT. Whenever a Survivor Hides in the Darkness, that Survivor shall set the Watching of each other Survivor who is currently watching them, to any other valid value (that is, the name of another Survivor or the Leader).

If at least half the EVCs on this Proposal contain the text, “Zombocalypse” add the following line to sub-rule “The Infected”:

If at any time all Survivors are Infected, repeal this sub-rule.

Proposal: Test Proposal

VETOVETOVETOED -Darth

Proposal: Item Things again

Fails 3-6. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Sep 2009 07:42:45 UTC

In rule 2.10 Inventory add the text

Items may have no more than one Holder each.

Create a subrule of rule 2.5.2 Master Thief, titled “Rewards”, which reads as follows:

The Survivor who fought last with the Boss and caused its HP to drop to 0 may once become Holder of one Item of his choice from the “Inventory Items” page.

First to limit the number of items on the market, second so that we can get at them. Any other ideas on how to get items? Sorry if I mess this up as well!

Item Things

In rule 2.10 Inventory add the text

Items may have no more than one Holder each.

Create a subrule of rule 2.5.2 Master Thief, titled “Rewards”, which reads as follows:

The Survivor who fought last with the Boss and caused its HP to drop to 0 may once become Holder of one Item of his choice from the “Inventory Items” page.

First one so that we don’t have loads of items around, second as a way to get them out into the world. What a great and legal commentary/flavour entry.

Plan of action

So here’s the situation: The blog will not, aparently, accept comments with vote icons (and nothing else) in them. So, while 75th and Excalabur sort this out, be sure to have text in all of your comments as well. That or, if no one objects, post :FOR :, :AGAINST :, :IMPERIAL :, or :VETO : and an admin will edit it into the proper form for you. Any objections?

NOTE: Do not edit any comments until all admins voice their opinion on the editing—you can be banned for it unless everyone is going to be okay with it.

EDIT: Apparently, some things are still starting in neg. time, albeit by a matter of 1,500 seconds or so. : |.

Also, I keep getting the page loading with no background color or styles. Just me, or a, EE problem?

Proposal: Zombies and Humans Don’t Get Along

Passes 7-2. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Sep 2009 07:35:26 UTC

In Attacking Your Friends, change the text:

The Survivor who Attacks (Attacker) rolls DICEX where X is the difference between the Stamina of the Attacker and that of the Attacked (treat X as 1 if the difference is negative or 0).

to:

The Survivor who Attacks (Attacker) rolls DICEX where X is the difference between the Stamina of the Attacker and that of the Attacked (treat X as 1 if the difference is negative or 0)(such a DICE roll is known as an Aggression Roll).

Add a subrule to Watch Your Back titled “I Know What You’re Up To” with the following text:

Whenever a Survivor is Watching another Survivor and makes an Aggression Roll against that Survivor, e adds 3 to the result of the Aggression Roll once.

Create a new Rule called “Zombie Eats Your Brains While You Sleep” with the following text:

As a daily action, an Infected Survivor may “Eat the Brains” of a non-Infected Survivor that is not Watching them. To do this, the Infected Survivor makes an Aggression Roll against the targeted Survivor with a GNDT comment of “Brains.” If the result of the Roll is greater than 5, then the Infected Survivor increases their own Stamina and Fitness by 2 once and decreases the Fitness and Stamina of the targeted Survivor by 2 once.

Create a new Rule called “Xenophobia” with the following text:

As a weekly action, a non-Infected Survivor may “Go Zombie Bashing” against an Infected Survivor who is not Watching them. To do this, the non-Infected Survivor makes an Aggression Roll against the Infected Survivor with a GNDT comment of “Die, Abomination!” If the result of the roll is greater than 5, then the non-Infected Survivor decreases the Fitness and Stamina of the target by 2 once, while increasing the Rages of both Survivors and eir own Fitness by 2 once.

Added the “once” language for safety. The Infected can strike more often than others because there are fewer of them (plus I didn’t want to add a daily grind aspect by creating daily actions for everyone).

Back up… we think

Things appear to be running smoothly after the longer-than-expected EE upgrade. It was longer than expected because we were extremely careful, and also because I am extremely stupid.

This is also a test post. If things are as they should be, you will never know what it is I’m testing.

UPDATE: The ages of pending Proposals in the sidebar should be fixed now. Please confirm in the comments whether you’re seeing the correct times now.

Proposal: Boss-some

Passes 10-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 31 Aug 2009 11:12:20 UTC

Add the following sentence to Dynastic Rule “Master Thief”:

Bosses reduce the Food and Water by 2 daily, as Thieves do, but when attacked, they have the same effects as Fighters.

Bosses act like both thieves and fighters.

Expression Engine Upgrade

The blog will go down at approximately 1PM AEST Saturday (3AM GMT, 11PM EST Friday) for a backend upgrade.  Hopefully this will take less than an hour, at which point everything should work again.

No predictions as to if that actually happens.

Proposal: Edie

Passes 12-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 31 Aug 2009 11:10:24 UTC

The Doomsday Cult is a shadowy cabal whose membership and aims remain inscrutable.

Enact a new dynastic rule, called “Doomsday Cult”, as follows:

Following the enactment of this Proposal, the Leader shall select two random Survivors (excluding himself) to become members of the Doomsday Cult (each of whom may be referred to as a Cultist), without regard to whether such Survivors are Infected.

When a new Survivor joins the game, or when an idle Survivor who has not previously participated in this Dynasty reactivates, the Leader may (within 48 hours) determine randomly whether this Survivor is a Cultist.  The chance of a Survivor becoming a Cultist by operation of the previous sentence is x/y where x is the number of Cultists and y is the total number of Survivors.  Should idling ever cause the active Survivor list to lack any Cultists at all, the Leader may randomly select z new Cultists, where z is the number of Survivors divided by 5 and rounded down (but not to less than one).  Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing, no Survivor who is Fallen or Infected may become a Cultist (but a Survivor may, after having become a Cultist, become Fallen or Infected by operation of the Ruleset or Gamestate).

Whenever the Leader determines that a Survivor is a Cultist, the Leader shall alert the Cultist via PM but shall not alert that Cultist of the identity of any other Cultist.

The first time that the Leader determines that certain Survivors are Cultists, the Leader shall, following the PM alerts to the relevant Cultists, post a Story Post to the Blog indicating that the Cult is now active.

Notwithstanding any other dynastic rule or subrule, an Infected Survivor who is a Cultist shall not be prohibited from achieving victory by reason of being Infected.

Proposal: Anger Management

Passes 9-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 31 Aug 2009 11:07:41 UTC

Create a new subrule to Infectious Anger titled “The Violence of War” with the following text:

When any non-Infected Survivor Fights a Marauder or Attacks another Survivor, e must increase eir own Rage by 2. When any Infected Survivor Fights a Marauder, Attacks another Survivor, or changes the Status of a Fallen Survivor to Infected, e must increase eir own Rage by DICE10.

Create a new subrule of Infectious Anger titled “Going Hulk” with the following text:

If a Survivor’s Rage is ever 100, that Survivor must Attack another Survivor, adding 8 to the result of the required DICEX roll. The Survivor’s own Rage then falls to 0.

If the following sentences exist in the Ruleset, remove them:

The Leader may, but is not required to, make a story post entitled “Item Suggestions”. Any Survivor may post comments to that story post, suggesting particular Items (and their gamestate effects) for addition to the Inventory Items page.

We’re unlike to reach the point where we “Go Hulk” . . . unless we’re trying to get there.

Removing those sentences because they actually do nothing.

Proposal: Why won’t you love me any more?

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Aug 2009 15:06:48 UTC

Create a new sub-rule, “Failure brings Anger” under rule “Infectious Anger”:

Whenever a Proposal is failed or vetoed, the author of that Proposal may once, within a period of 24 hours, increase their Rage by X; where X is the number of valid FOR and DEFERENTIAL votes on that Proposal.

Call for Judgment: Get Fit

Passes 3-1 (voting quantity fail).

Adminned at 31 Aug 2009 21:48:56 UTC

If any Survivor required to roll DICE100 for their Fitness has not done so by the time this CfJ passes, then any Survivor may roll the DICE100 for them.

Because the Fitness statistic was never meant to have an undefined value for an extended period of time.

Call for Judgment: WikiWiki

No gamestate or ruleset effect—Rodlen

Adminned at 27 Aug 2009 23:51:49 UTC

Make all Admins with wiki accounts wiki bureaucrats.

A bureaucrat is the wiki level that can be used to promote users. This way, as long as one admin is active (and at least one needs to be in order for the game to function), whenever a new admin appears, they can be promoted on the wiki.

Call for Judgment: Wiki

Can be Failed, not made illegal. - Qwaz

Adminned at 27 Aug 2009 19:00:07 UTC

Make Qwazukee a wiki Admin.

Honestly, I spend enough time on there…

Concept: “Doomsday Cult” (not a proposal)

Discussion item, not a proposal.  I don’t have any free proposal slots anyway.

Create a new dynastic rule entitled “Doomsday Cult”, as follows:

On a single occasion, the Leader may select two random Survivors (excluding himself) to become members of the Doomsday Cult (each of whom may be referred to as a Cultist).  .  When a new Survivor joins the game, or when ann idle Survivor who has not previously participated in this Dynasty reactivates, the Leader may (within 48 hours) determine randomly whether this Survivor is a Cultist.  The chance of a Survivor becoming a Cultist by operation of the previous sentence is x/y where x is the number of uninfected Cultists and y is the total number of active Survivors.  Should idling ever cause the active Survivor list to lack any Cultists at all, the Leader may randomly select z new Cultists, where z is the number of uninfected Survivors divided by 5 and rounded down.  Whenever the Leader determines that a Survivor is a Cultist, the Leader shall alert the Cultist via PM but shall not alert that Cultist of the identity of any other Cultist.

So ultimately there are going to be three factions: infected/zombies; uninfected; and Cultists (who might choose to ally with the infected/zombies, or with the uninfected, depending on what their goals turn out to be.

Yes, this is the old werewolf dynasty mechanic.

Proposal: Opps

Passes 8-2 despite Sidebar. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Aug 2009 15:03:27 UTC

Repeal Too much of a good thing.
Replace the word Pass in rule Working Out with “Fail”, so that it reads

As a weekly action, each Survivor may work out by making a fitness test. If they pass the test, they increase their fitness by DICE10.

.

1. Spikebrennan’s proposal will cause issues with it.
2. It was meant to be that way in the first place. I made a typo. The fitter you are, the more you have to work to get even fitter. (if that makes any sense)

Proposal: Who’s helping most?

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Aug 2009 14:59:37 UTC

Create a new dynastic rule, “Contribution”:

Contribution is a numeric value tracked in the GNDT, which defaults to zero, and which can be positive, negative, or zero.

Whenever a Survivor performs a daily or weekly action that causes the Food and Water to increase, that Survivor must also increase their Contribution by the same amount.
Whenever a Survivor performs a daily or weekly action that causes the Food and Water to increase, that Survivor must also decrease their Contribution by the same amount.
Whenever a Survivor Attacks another non-Infected Survivor, that Survivor must also decrease their Contribution by 5.
Whenever a Survivor Attacks another Infected Survivor, that Survivor must also increase their Contribution by 5.
Whenever a Survivor Fights a Maurauder, that Survivor must also increase their Contribution by 5.

In other words, help out the good guys, and your Contribution goes Up; help out the Infected or the Zombies, and your Contribution goes down. The idea is to encourage Survivors to perform selfless actions, or at least to reward them for doing so.

/me Unidles self

Quorum is still 9.

Proposal: Hard Work

Passes 8-0 despite Sidebar. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Aug 2009 14:57:34 UTC

Add the following text to the end of the Rule entitled “Fitness”:

Whenever a Fitness Test is Passed, the Survivor who took that test loses 1 Stamina unless the rules concerning that particular Fitness Test explicitly state otherwise.

Proposal: Scarcity is the reason that Master-Blaster runs Bartertown

Passes 9-1. The numbers will be 100 and 20. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Aug 2009 14:40:28 UTC

Part 1:
If there is a rule entitled “Food and Water”, then amend the text that presently reads: “There exists a global number called Food and Water. Food and Water shall initially be 50.” so that it reads: “There exists a global number called Food and Water, which shall be an integer less than or equal to X. Food and Water shall initially be 50.”  When enacting this Rule, do not change the value of Food and Water unless it is greater than X, in which case it shall be set to X.

Part 2:
If there is a subrule entitled “Stamina”, then amend the text that presently reads: “Each Survivor has a Number called Stamina, which is tracked in the GNDT and initially 10.” so that it reads: “Each Survivor has a Number called Stamina, which shall be an integer less than or equal to Y, which is tracked in the GNDT and initially 10.”  When enacting this Rule, do not change the value of any Survivor’s Stamina except for values of Stamina that are greater than Ywhich shall be set to Y.

Part 3: In this proposal, the value of X is 75 and the value of Y is 15 unless a majority of the Effective Vote Comments to this proposal which include unambiguous suggestions to set particular values of X and Y to different values (for example, “Let X by 80 and Y be 20”) agree on a single particular value for X and a single particular value for Y, in which case X and Y shall be those values.

Proposal: No man standing

Self-killer—arth

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 22:58:27 UTC

Create a new rule, “No Survivors”:

If at any time, there exist no Living Survivors, the End has Come. When the End has Come, repeal all dynastic rules, fail all pending proposals, and start a new dynasty (known as a metadynasty) with no Leader.

Proposal: I Beat the Boss!

Fails 1-8 due to timeout, no matter what the Sidebar says. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 21:50:36 UTC

Add a subrule to Marauders titled “Victory” with the following text:

Whenever a Survivor Fights the last Marauder that exists in a Marauding, causing it to cease to exist, that Survivor may increase their Fitness by DICE5, may increase their Stamina by DICE4, and may increase the Food and Water by DICE10. These actions may be taken up to 24 hours after the last Marauder in the aforementioned Marauding ceases to exist.

Add a subrule to Master Thief titled “Epic Victory” with the following text:

Whenever a Survivor Fights a Boss, causing it to have 0 HP, that Survivor may increase their Fitness by DICE10, may increase their Stamina by DICE9, may increase the Food and Water by DICE30, and may become the Holder of the first Item on the wiki page Inventory Items that does not already have a Holder. These actions may be taken up to 24 hours after the Boss’s HP becomes 0.

Because Victories deserve Rewards, and Epic Victories deserve Epic Rewards.

Idle

I don’t understand the rules anymore, even to the very limited extent that I did under the old dynasty. Please idle me; perhaps I’ll be better able to get my bearings after spending some time as a lurker.

Proposal: Boss battle!

Passes 10-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 13:16:44 UTC

Add a new subrule to “Marauders”, called “Master Thief”:

Some Marauders are Bosses. Bosses have a number called HP. When a Survivor Fights a Boss, the Boss does not cease to exist; instead, the Survivor must make a fitness test. If the test is Passed, the Boss loses 1 HP. If a Boss ever has 0 HP, it ceases to exist.

Now we can have particularly tough baddies. Oh, and maybe even a Master Thief.

Story Post: [MARAUDERS] Gang

* 5 Fighters (Living)
* 5 Thieves (Living)

A gang is trying to steal our stuff!

I added the “(Living)” parts so that when my proposal passes, the Marauders will still be valid.

Proposal: Keep your hands off my stuff

Passes 9-3, but only 5 for the rider. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 13:10:20 UTC

Insert a new dynastic rule, called “Inventory”, as follows:

There is a column in the GNDT called “Inventory”.  Each Survivor’s Inventory tracks each Item held by that Survivor.  If a particular Item is listed on a particular Survivor’s “Inventory” in the GNDT, then that Survivor is considered to be that item’s Holder.  Survivors may only become or cease to become Holders of Items by proposal or as the ruleset or gamestate permits.  A Survivor who is the Holder of an Item may, unless prohibited by the ruleset or gamestate, voluntarily transfer the Item to another Survivor by updating the GNDT to delete the Item from his own Inventory and adding it to the other Survivor’s Inventory.

There is a wiki page called “Inventory Items”, the content which may only be changed by proposal or as the ruleset or gamestate permits.  The “Inventory Items” page lists each Item of Inventory and describes the gamestate effects that relate to that Item.

The Leader may, but is not required to, make a story post entitled “Item Suggestions”.  Any Survivor may post comments to that story post, suggesting particular Items (and their gamestate effects) for addition to the Inventory Items page.

The Leader may, as a daily action, add Items (and their gamestate effects) to the Inventory Items page.

If a majority of the Effective Vote Comments to this Proposal include the phrase “Stuff it”, then add the following Items to the Inventory Items page:

* Bucket.  When the Holder of the Bucket Eats and Drinks, the Holder decreases the Food and Water by DICE10 (rather than DICE5) and increases the Holder’s own Stamina by DICE10 (rather than DICE5).
* Barbell.  If the Holder of the Barbell works out and passes its fitness test, the Holder may increase their fitness by DICE15 (rather than DICE10).

Naturally, we’re going to need shotguns and chainsaws.

Proposal: Mutations

Self-Killed. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 13:07:29 UTC

Create a new Rule titled “Mutations” with the following text:

There exists a wiki document, “Mutations,” which may only be altered as specified by the Ruleset. In this document is a list of Mutations, all of which have a Name, and some of which have an Ability and/or an Affected. Example:

*Name: Third Arm
*Ability: If the Affected Passes the Fitness Test to work out, the Affected increases their Fitness by 2DICE10 instead of DICE10.
*Affected: Yoda

If the Mutation has an Affected, the Affected can utilize the Ability of the corresponding Mutation as if it were in the Ruleset.

Create a new subrule to “Mutations” titled “Creation of Mutation” with the following text:

As a weekly action, a Survivor may add a Mutation (Name only) to the wiki document “Mutations.” If a Mutation does not have an Affected and does not have an Ability, the Leader may add an Ability to that Mutation at any time. If a Survivor is not the Affected of any Mutation, they may make themselves the Affected of 1 Mutation (that does not already have an Affected) as a weekly action. A Survivor who is the Affected of a Mutation is said to “have” that Mutation. The Leader may never have a Mutation.

If the wiki document “Mutations” exists, blank it.

This does require some judgment from Darth Cliche (not to make an Ability that is too powerful), but I think he is responsible enough to be fine.

Add a new Dynastic Rule to the Ruleset.  Call it “Communal Stats” and give it the following text:

There exists a row in the GNDT labelled “Community” that does not correspond to a player.  Instead, its columns track certain gamestate values defined elsewhere in the rules.

The Community’s Stamina value is equal to the current Food and Water.

If there is ever a Survivor named “Community”, the leader shall choose a new name for the “Community” row of the GNDT and change all instances of “Community” in this rule and its subrules to the new name

Proposal: All Hail Zombie Thief

Passes 7-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Aug 2009 12:58:40 UTC

If the Proposal titled “Marauders” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Change the text of rule “Marauders” to:

There are two types of Marauders: Fighters and Thieves. Marauders can be Living or Zombie.

Each day when a Marauding is Active, the Leader shall decrease the Food and Water by 2 times the number of Thieves.

Each day when a Marauding is Active, the Leader shall roll DICEX, where X is the number of Fallen Survivors, for each Zombie Marauder. For each roll, the Fallen Survivor who is #Y in GNDT order (from top to bottom), where Y is the result of the roll, becomes Infected.

As a daily action when a Marauding is Active, each non-Fallen Survivor may Fight one Marauder. When this happens, the Marauder ceases to exist. However, if the Marauder is a Fighter, the Survivor must make a Fitness Test. If the Fitness Test is Failed, the Survivor suffers damage.

Reformed the marauders. There are now four types: fighters, thieves, zombie fighters, and zombie thieves.

Fitness

Everyone remember to set your Fitness to DICE100 in the GNDT.

Zombification antidotes

Create a new dynastic rule, “Antidotes”:

As a weekly action, any Infected Survivor may attempt to take a Zombification Antidote, however, they may only do this if they have received permission (in a comment) from at least half the non-Infected Survivors, and this action may only be taken five times altogether by anyone. To take the Antidote, the Survivor rolls DICE2 in the GNDT; if it rolls a 2, that Survivor’s Status becomes Healthy.

Ah, great, a stash of antidote left behind by a group of scientists just before they were killed in a zombie raid. However, I have no idea whether these things work or not, and there’s a very limited supply, so we should be careful about who’s allowed to get them.

Shem’s back!

I said I’d come back after the Groundhog Dynasty which I sadly missed the start of.

Please unidle me.

Rockstar!

My shell/ftp access is fixed.  New veto icon uploaded.  Old one archived, at /images/vote/veto/seal.gif.qwaz

EE upgrade will hopefully happen this upcoming weekend, late friday night NA time, if we can get the backups to work right.  (I’m in the AEST time zone now, GMT +10, so I’ll be working saturday afternoon.)

Anything else that needs to get sorted?

Proposal: Seal the windows, burn the corpses. The Plague is here.

Veto of a Self-Kill -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 21:12:14 UTC

Create a new rule called, “The Plague”:

There is a type of Proposal known as “Infectious Proposal”. An Infected Survivor may create an Infectious Proposal by adding the text “[Infectious]” to the beginning of a Proposal they create. Living Survivors may not vote on Infectious Proposals unless they spend 1 Stamina each time they vote, and may not vote DEFERENTIAL. On their vote to an Infectious Proposal, the voter must include the name of a Survivor. If they don’t, their vote is not valid (it shall not be counted for the purposes of enacting or failing that proposal).

Whenever an Infectious Proposal is failed without being vetoed, all Living Survivors who Voted on it are said to have “Held their Ground”. Each Survivor whose name appears in the fewest (but at least once) EVCs for that Proposal suffers damage (the Admin failing the Proposal applies the damage, but is not considered its source; the source of damage is the Proposal itself).

Whenever an Infectious Proposal is enacted, all Living Survivors who Voted on it are said to have “Run for their Lives”. The Food and Water is decreased by XDICE5, where X is the number of Infected Survivors that voted on the Proposal. The author of the enacted Infectious Proposal may not create another Infectious Proposal within the next 48 hours.

Explanation: Infectious Proposals are challenges. Infectious Survivors will try to lure the uninfected with a Proposal loaded with benefits, but it will cost you. However, voting it down also has its negative side, because if you don’t coordinate your votes, you could end up in bad shape. Of course, the Leader can intervene and VETO it and nothing happens (to discourage lots of cheap Infectious Proposals). Finally, it also encourages intelligent proposals by itself.

Food and Water

The Food and Water is 48.

Proposal: You won’t like me when I’m angry

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 19:58:32 UTC

If Proposal, “Attack of the post-apocalyptic Zombies from a planet near Mars” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Create a new rule, “Infectious Anger”:

The exists a GNDT Tracked Statistic called Rage, that must be an integer between 0 and 100. The Rage of new Survivors is 0. Whenever a Survivor suffers damage, that survivor may once within a period of 24 hours, increase their Rage by DICE5. If that Survivor is infected, their Rage is instead incremented by 4DICE5 instead.

If Proposal “Don’t eat too much junk” passed, add the following paragraph to rule “Infectious Anger”:

Whenever a Survivor has to take a Fitness Test (but before rolling any dice for that test), that survivor may spend any amount of Rage and make a GNDT comment of “Spent Rage X” where X is the amount of Rage spent this way. Then, their current Fitness is considered to be X points higher for the purposes of that Fitness Test.

Set the Rage of every non Infected Survivor to 0. Set the Rage of every Infected Survivor to 20.

Proposal: Scarcer Resources

Passes 11-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 19:56:30 UTC

If a dynastic Rule contains the text

As a weekly action, a Survivor may Forage. To Forage, a Survivor increases the Food and Water by DICE10.

replace that text with

As a weekly action, a Survivor may Forage. To Forage, a Survivor makes a comment of “Foraging: DICE8” in the GNDT and increases the Food and Water by the result of that DICE roll.

Our food supplies are not quite as plentiful as we first thought; we will eventually need to find other food sources.

Proposal: Call for Judgment: Declaration of Victory: Ascension Address: Story Post: Huge illegal post

Blatantly illegal, because the Leader cannot post a DoV -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 10:05:54 UTC

This does nothing.

Proposal: I Just Have to Run Faster Than You Do…

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 19:51:26 UTC

Create a new Rule titled “Attacking Your Friends” with the following text:

As a weekly action, a Survivor can Attack another Survivor. The Survivor who Attacks (Attacker) rolls DICEX where X is the difference between the Stamina of the Attacker and that of the Attacked (treat X as 1 if the difference is negative or 0). If the result is greater than 9, the Attacked suffers Damage, unless the Attacked was Infected, in which case the Attacked cannot Infect anyone for 2 days.

Create a new Rule titled “Innoculation” with the following text:

As a weekly action, the Leader can Innoculate an Infected Survivor whose Stamina is greater than -10. To do this, the Leader rolls DICEX where X is the number of Infected Survivors whose Stamina is greater than -10 (known as Candidates). The Innoculated is the Survivor whose position in the GNDT among Candidates (from top to bottom) matches the result of the DICE roll. If the current amount of Food and Water is higher than the Stamina of the Innoculated, then the Innoculated’s Status becomes Wounded. Either Way, reduce the Food and Water by 5.

Proposal: Don’t feed the Deathclaws either

Illegal. I’m getting ahead of myself -yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 08:58:15 UTC

Add a subrule of Food and Water entitled “Can’t keep it all”:

Every Monday at 00:00:01, ONE Survivor MUST roll DICEX in the GNDT, where X is Food and Water. Then Food and Water shall be decreased by the resulting number.

Proposal: Don’t feed the Deathclaws either LEGALLY

Vetoed -Darth

Add a subrule of Food and Water entitled “Can’t keep it all”:

Every Monday at 00:00:01, ONE Survivor MUST roll DICEX in the GNDT, where X is Food and Water. Then Food and Water shall be decreased by the resulting number.

Idling

I’m going away for a couple days, and I’d like to idle, but not until Don’t Feed the Yau Guai is either enacted or failed (so my votes will count). When that happens could someone please idle me? Thanks.

Proposal: Don’t feed the Yau Guai!

Veto of a self-kill -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 08:56:28 UTC

Add a subrule of Food and Water entitled “Can’t keep it all”:

Every Monday at 00:00:01, ONE Survivor MUST roll DICEX in the GNDT, where X is Food. Then Food shall be decreased by the resulting number.

Represents food being stolen, being eaten by animals, and spoiling.

Proposal: Marauders

Quorume 9-0 -Darth

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 15:21:32 UTC

Add a new rule called “Marauders”:

There are three types of Marauders: Fighters, Thieves, and Zombies.

Each day when a Marauding is Active, the Leader shall decrease the Food and Water by 2 times the number of Thieves.

Each day when a Marauding is Active, the Leader shall pick 1 Fallen Survivor for each Zombie. These Survivors become Infected.

As a daily action when a Marauding is Active, each non-Fallen Survivor may Fight one Marauder. When this happens, the Marauder ceases to exist. However, if the Marauder is not a Thief, the Survivor must make a Fitness Test. If the Fitness Test is Failed, the Survivor suffers damage.

Add a new subrule to Marauders, called “Maraudings”:

As a weekly action, if no Marauding is currently Active, the Leader may create a Marauding by making a Story Post with a title containing the text “[MARAUDERS]”. This Story Post is the Marauding, and is initially Active. The Marauding shall list all Marauders involved. If a Marauding has no Marauders, it ceases to be Active.

Finished Marauders.

Proto-Proposal: Other Survivors

Add a new dynastic rule, titled “Maraudings”:

As a weekly action, if no Marauding is currently Active, the Leader may create a Marauding by making a Story Post with a title containing the text “[MARAUDERS]”. This Story Post is the Marauding, and is initially Active. The Marauding shall list all Marauders involved.

The idea here is that we should come up with a way for us to fight the Marauders.

Proposal: G-Man’s New Friend

Vetoed -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 08:49:45 UTC

Create a new Rule titled “L-Man” with the following text:

While the Leader is considered to be a Survivor, e may not achieve victory in this Dynasty.

Proposal: Don’t eat too much junk.

Passes 10-0, with exactly half in favor of the rider. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 09:21:05 UTC

Create a new rule, entitled Fitness:

Each Survivor has the statistic Fitness tracked in the GNDT. Fitness can be any integer from 0 to 100 inclusively, and shall initially be 40. Whenever an action causes a Survivor to take a Fitness Test, that Survivor must make a roll of DICE100 in the GNDT. If the resulting number is equal to or lower than their fitness, the test is considered Passed, and if i is greater than their fitness, it is Failed.

If the proposal Stamina passes, add the following sentence to the rule “Foraging”:

A Survivor must make and Pass a Fitness test to successfully Forage.

If the proposal Stamina passes, add the following rule, entitled “Too much of a Good Thing”:

If a Survivor’s Stamina is greater or equal to 75, they decrease their fitness by DICE5 each time they eat and drink. If their Stamina is equal to or less than 50, they increase their Fitness by DICE5 when they Eat and Drink

Add the following subrule to Fitness, entitled “Working out”:

As a weekly action, each Survivor may work out by making a fitness test. If they pass the test, they increase their fitness by DICE10.

If at least half of the EVCs on this proposal contain the phrase “Let’s Go”, then each Survivor sets their fitness to DICE100.

Proposal: You’re Being Watched

Passes 12-0. We’re finally getting our vote count up. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Aug 2009 08:13:30 UTC

Create a new Rule titled “Watch Your Back” with the following text:

Each Survivor has a characteristic called Watching, which is tracked in the GNDT and is initially set to the Leader. A Survivor can “Watch” a Survivor or the Leader by setting their own Watching to the name of that individual. Changing one’s own Watching is a daily action.

Add a subrule to “Watch Your Back” called “I’m Being Watched” with the following text:

A Survivor cannot change the Status of another Survivor if the prior is being Watched by the latter.

This prevents beneficial as well as baneful Status changes, so be careful who you’re watching.

Proposal: Stamina

Quorumed 9-0 after 12 hours -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 19:19:57 UTC

Add a new rule called “Food and Water”:

There exists a global number called Food and Water. Food and Water shall initially be 50.

Add a new subrule to “Food and Water” called “Foraging”:

As a weekly action, a Survivor may Forage. To Forage, a Survivor increases the Food and Water by DICE10.

Add a new subrule to “Food and Water” called “Stamnia”:

Each Survivor has a Number called Stamina, which is tracked in the GNDT and initially 10. When a Healthy Survivor’s Stamina becomes 0, they take damage. When a Wounded Survivor’s Stamina becomes -10, they take damage.

As a weekly action, a Survivor may either Eat and Drink. To Eat and Drink, a Survivor decreases the Food and Water by DICE5 and increased their own Stamina by DICE5.

Reproposed with arth’s ideas.

Proposal: Attack of the post-apocalyptic Zombies from a planet near Mars

Quorumed 9-0 after 12 hours -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 18:32:46 UTC

Create a new rule called, “Still Alive”:

Survivors have a GNDT tracked attribute called ‘Status’, which can only have one of these values: ‘Healthy’, ‘Wounded’, ‘Fallen’ or ‘Infected’. New Survivors have a status of Healthy. If a Healthy Survivor suffers damage, their status becomes Wounded. If a Wounded Survivor suffers damage, their status becomes Fallen. If a Survivor’s status is Healthy or Wounded, that survivor is said to be Living.

Create a new sub-rule called, “The Infected” under rule “Still Alive”:

Infected Survivors cannot achieve victory. As a weekly action, an Infected Survivor may change the status of a Fallen Survivor to Infected.

Each Survivor that includes the phrase “Not on your side” on their EVC for this Proposal has their status set to Infected. Each other Survivor has their status set to Healthy.

Left out the healing bit for now, I think it should cost something to heal, perhaps eating food and resting for 24 hours.

Proposal: Food and Water

Darth has gotten ahold of the veto! The world really has ended… Oh well. At least he’s not Anthony. Although it is annoying how he’s talking in the third person. -Darth

Adminned at 25 Aug 2009 07:04:27 UTC

Add a new rule called “Food and Water”:

There exists a global number called Food, and a global number called Water. Food and Water shall both initially 50.

Add a new subrule to “Food and Water” called “Foraging and Collecting Water”:

As a weekly action, a Survivor may either Forage or Collect Water. To Collect Water, a Survivor increases the Water by DICE10. To Forage, a Survivor increases the Food by DICE10.

Add a new subrule to “Food and Water” called “Hunger and Thirst”:

Each Survivor has a Number called Hunger, and a number called Thirst. Both are tracked in the GNDT and initially 0. If a Healthy Survivor’s Thirst or Hunger is greater than 10, they take damage. If a Wounded Survivor’s Thirst or Hunger is greater than 20, they take damage.

As a weekly action, a Survivor may either Eat or Drink. To Eat, a Survivor decreases the Food by DICE5 and eir own Hunger by DICE5. To Drink, a Survivor decreases the Water by DICE5 and eir own Thirst by DICE5.

Yes, currently Hunger and Thirst do not ever increase. We can propose that later on.

Three Queries

1.  It was mooted at some point that implementing automatic daily/weekly adjustments on the GNDT would be a good idea.  Did that ever get done?

2.  Why do vetoed proposals get adminned out of sequence?  This has several negative effects, primarily that it rewards making proposals so bad they get vetoed instead of failing, and secondarily that it encourages procedural use of the veto, hiding what’s actually going on.

3. What’s the little arrow icon for?  I assume it was added for some previous dynasty?  Can we bin it again?

4.  I thought of another one: does anyone need a user account activated on the wiki?

Veto

Would Excalabur please upload this as the new veto icon?

Ascension Address: Apocalypse Address

Thank god electricity still works and the server’s still up… otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to connect to BN and find each other. Now, thanks to that Cessna 500 I found back when we were on vacation, we’ve managed to all group together in a suburb of London. But remember, there are other survivors… and we need to keep a steady of supply of food and water. We can’t let ourselves die.

Repeal all dynastic rules. Replace “Bill Murray” with “Survivor”, “Phil” with “Leader”, and “Weatherteam” with “Quorum” throughout the Ruleset. Welcome to the Post-Apocalyptic Dynasty!

Story Post: Who gets things done? WE get things done!!!!

Yuri and I took about 15 minutes learning and changing a basic java script to hide/unhide the idle player list, and then putting it into effect. Then we took about 45 minutes trying to figure out why it didn’t work, until I discovered a missing “. Click the “idle players” to see the list.  Anyway, there’s one more thing to cross off the list of things for admins to do on the Admin Feedback page! And if Excalabur goes ahead and upgrades EE, we will have crossed out 2 in one dynasty. Sweeet.

Boo-Ya!!! If you need anything else to be hidden by default on the page, I’ll be happy to implement it. Just post any suggestions here. **I believe celebratory sleep is in order now, so it’ll have to wait for morning. Night.

Proto-Proposal: Attack of the post-apocalyptic Zombies from a planet near Mars

Create a new rule called, “Still Alive”:

Survivors have a GNDT tracked attribute called ‘Status’, which can only have one of these values: ‘Healthy’, ‘Wounded’, ‘Fallen’ or ‘Infected’. New Survivors have a status of Healthy. If a Healthy Survivor suffers damage, their status becomes Wounded. If a Wounded Survivor suffers damage, their status becomes Fallen. If a Survivor’s status is Healthy or Wounded, that survivor is said to be Living.

As a daily action a Wounded Survivor may change their status to ‘Healthy’, but only if e has not suffered damage in the past 48 hours.

I got this idea from after the barbarian dynasty, and I think it’s time to put it into practice.

GNDT colours would be good too.

Dynasty Suggestions

Operation: Veto Everything was a success; I vetoed the whole mess so we could just move on to the next Dynasty. I know DC has a number of ideas for the next Dynasty, but if he’s got a few suggestions for us to choose from, here is a forum to air them out.

Proposal: Call for Judgment: G-Man to Go

Vetoed by Operation: Veto Everything. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Aug 2009 05:26:34 UTC

If it does not already exist, create a Rule titled “G-Man” with the following text:

For the purposes of Dynastic Rules which do not explicitly state otherwise, the “X” is not considered a “Z”.

Replace “X” with the second Keyword in Rule 3.3 Keywords and replace “Z” with the third Keyword in Rule 3.3 Keywords.

Seeing if I can legally create a Proposal that is also a CfJ. This will need to be passed if all Dynastic Rules are repealed, anyway.

Had to use the long language because we don’t know what the keywords will be yet. But Proposing this now will speed up the next Dynasty.

Proposal: Randomness

Vetoed by Operation: Veto Everything. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Aug 2009 05:26:00 UTC

The enacting admin of this proposal shall roll DICEX in the GNDT, where X is the number of Bill Murrays. The Bill Murray who is list entry #Y in an alphabetical list of all Bill Murrays, where Y is the result of the roll, achieves victory.

If someone who doesn’t want to win wins they can pass the mantle.

Proposal: To vote on a suitable ending

Vetoed by Operation: Veto Everything. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Aug 2009 05:25:22 UTC

If anyone has won the dynasty between the time this proposal was proposed and the time it is enacted, this proposal does nothing.

Create a new dynastic rule, named “Ending the Groundhog Dynasty”:

For the purposes of this rule, the Phil is a Bill Murray.

Each Bill Murray may once each create a Story Post with [Rescue Suggestion] in its title, outlining a series of changes that they would like to be made to BlogNomic’s ruleset or gamestate in its body; such story posts are Rescue Suggestions.

48 hours after this rule came into existence, anyone can once (altogether amongst all Bill Murrays) create a story post called the “Rescue Vote”; each Bill Murray may make one comment on the thread voting for a Rescue Suggestion (identifying it by its name, its author or both). At any time 48 hours or more after that Story Post came into existence, if one Rescue Suggestion has more counted votes for it (a counted vote is a vote that hasn’t had another vote by the same Bill Murray cast after it in the same thread) in the Ending Vote than any other Rescue Suggestion does, any admin may make the changes outlined in that Rescue Suggestion to the ruleset and gamestate. Upon doing so, if this rule still exists, it repeals itself.

In other words, instead of voting 50% FOR/AGAINST each successive proposal that people are making to end or continue the dynasty, we put all the suggestions on the table first, then vote on which to adopt. This is the process that B Nomic uses to resolve problems when it’s clear that the normal methods aren’t going to work; hopefully, it will work in BlogNomic too.

Unidling

Could someone unidle me, please? (IIRC, this works whether we’re in hiatus or not.)

Seriously, guys, we have got to stop causing utter chaos.  Do you really want me to edit every comment into RODLANSPEEK?

Non Proposal: Praetors

Once I, Arthexis Augustus (The Fifth) become supreme Triumvir of the Blognomic Imperium, I shall name two Citizens of our Empire as Praetors. Only the two most loyal Citizens will be named in this fashion. Praetors will have complete command over my Imperial Armies and will receive the highest honors a magistrate can receive.

This is legal because I think it needs urgent attention.

Rename Weatherteam to Quorum
Rename Phil to Triumvir.  The plural of Triumvir is Triumviri.
Add the following Rule entitled “A Balance of Power”:

For the duration of this Dynasty there may be more than one Triumvir.  A proposal is vetoed if 2/3 or all Triumviri vote to veto it. Votes of :imperial: count as the vote of 2/3 or all Triumvirr, if 2/3 or all Triumviri have voted the same way, and as explicit abstentions if at least 2/3 of the Triumviri have not voted the same way.

Excalabur, Qwazukee and arthexis become Triumviri.

Triumvirates are more roman, and Excalabur proposed this solution first.

For the duration of this Dynasty there may be more than one Triumvir.  A proposal is vetoed if 2/3 or all Triumviri vote to veto it. Votes of :imperial: count as the vote of 2/3 or all Triumviri, if 2/3 or all Triumviri have voted the same way, and as explicit abstentions if at least 2/3 of the Triumviri have not voted the same way.

Wakukee, Qwazukee and arthexis become Triumviri.

Triumvirates are more historically acurate. Also, I was one of the first to consider co-dynasties.

Fix

I believe that I have fixed the problem excalibur brought up about the error message after every comment, but in order to do so I had to temporarily allow error messages to appear to ALL player… itt is fixed now, but I thought I’d let you know why you may have seen some strange messages for a few minutes.

Proposal: Victory is at Hand

Change the text of “Groundhog Victory” to:

Another way to speed up this Dynasty, if you’d like.

Proposal: Admin_edits

Veto of a Self-Kill. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 23 Aug 2009 09:01:04 UTC

If “And again, but with an actual target” has not been enacted, changed the sentence “Whenever an Admin marks a proposal as enacted or failed, he must also mark his name, and report the final tally of votes (or the fact that the proposal was self-killed or vetoed).”

to

“Whenever an Admin edits or changes the category of a post he must mark his name, the time, and the reason for such edit, including the vote tally, veto, or self-kill if applicable in the “Admin” field of the post.”

If “And again, but with an actual target” was enacted, change the sentence “Whenever an Admin marks a proposal as enacted or failed, he must also mark his name, and report the final tally of votes (or the fact that the proposal was self-killed or vetoed).” to “Whenever an Admin edits or changes the category of a post he must mark his name, the time, and the reason for such edit, including the vote tally, veto, or self-kill if applicable in the “Admin” field of the post.”

I think this is more airtight. However, I wasn’t around for the great loophole-finding manoevre of 2008-9, so I may be wrong.  I have a plan for that, too, but I’m out of proposals.

Proposal: An August Solution, now with remembering how this works

Vetoed by Operation: Veto Everything. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Aug 2009 05:20:20 UTC

Delete all dynastic rules from the ruleset.
Declare the winner of the current dynasty to be 75th trombone, for his continual support of Blognomic; however, 75th trombone will not become the Phil, make an Ascension Address, nor start a new Dynasty.
Start a new dynasty: The First Augustinian Dynasty of Qwazukee and arthexis.

Rename Bill Murrays to Citizens
Rename Weatherteam to Quorum
Rename Phil to Augustus.  The plural of Augustus is Augusti.

Add the following Rule:

For the duration of this Dynasty there may be more than one Augustus.  A proposal is vetoed iff all Augustsi vote to veto it. Votes of :imperial: count as for if all Augusti have voted for, against if they have all voted :against:, and as explicit abstentions if they have all voted and neither of the prior conditions holds.

Qwazukee and arthexis become Augusti.

For those that don’t know 75th trombone pays the bills for Blognomic.  Plus I love it when someone idle wins.

This proposal will hopefully help Qwazukee and arthexis settle their differences, or at least have a giant power struggle that will amuse the rest of us.  The name comes from Augustus Caesar, of roman fame, after whom the system of Emperors was later named: at many points in history the system was set up to include two joint Augusti whose responsibilities overlapped.

For reasons that I don’t know, Darth Cliche has decided he wants to be an Augustus and hijacked this proposal.  Feel free to vote your conscience on the two proposals, I just got here.

Rename Phil to Augustus, with plural Augusti.

Add the following dynastic rule, titled “Augustinian Dynasty”:

For the duration of this Dynasty, titled the First Augustinian Dynasty, there may be more than one Augustus.  A proposal is vetoed if all Augustsi vote to veto it. Votes of :imperial: count as for if all Augusti have voted for, against if they have all voted :against:, and as explicit abstentions if they have all voted and neither of the prior conditions holds.

Rename Phil to Augustus.  The plural of Augustus is Augusti.

Call for Judgment: Give me glory or give me death

Adminned at 23 Aug 2009 14:42:14 UTC

If at least half the ECVs on this Call for Judgement contain the phrase “thumbs down”, then arthexis shall be removed from the game and is barred from rejoining.
Otherwise, arthexis achieves victory.

Idling is for half-cooked cowards, I have never been a mediocre one. Since Quaz vetoed my legitimate attempt to ban myself from the game I’ll have to do it through a CfJ which he can’t stop.

Call for Judgment: Poll: Was arthexis’ DoV Illegal?

Fails 1-9. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Aug 2009 18:23:00 UTC

Unadmin the DoV, “I haven’t won but still” and consider it to have been created 6 hours before this CfJ passed.

I think it was illegal, but we should give it due process because arth thinks it was legal.

Here are the 2 rules in question:

From Rule 1.9: “If a Bill Murray (other than the Phil) believes that he has achieved victory in the current Dynasty, he may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this.”

The argument is that arthexis didn’t actually believe he had achieved victory, so he had no legal grounds to post a DoV. It’s a bit dangerous to determine people’s beliefs, though, so this may not be entirely damning.

From Rule 1.10: “A Bill Murray should not make a DoV primarily to delay the game by putting it into Hiatus.” If it is determined that arthexis did this, the DoV is still legal, but arthexis would be under threat of banishment from the sentence in Rule 1.10 that says “If any of the rules are found to have been broken, a proposal or CfJ may be made to remove the perpetrator from the game, and bar them from rejoining.”

Please say which, if either of these Rules, you think was broken.

Proposal: Setting things straight (through legal means, please)

Vetoed. - Qwazukee

If Proposal “DoV Fixes” fails, this Proposal does nothing.

Create a new rule “arthexis is a cheating groundhog”:

arthexis may not post a Declaration of Victory. If the current month is September, any Bill Murray may repeal this rule.

Revert all gamestate and ruleset changes made by proposal “DoV Fixes”.

First: Yuri’s proposal is in bad style. It creates an effect that cannot be tracked ruleswise. We normally frown upon that.
Second: While I still believe my move was valid and was illegaly declared illegal, I will not fool myself either. Blognomic is about popular voting, not about rules. As such, even if my action was rules-based, if the other players wish to censure my action, that’s ok. It’s the way the game is played and I have no problems with that. But if you wanna bar me from winning, at least do it correctly and don’t mess up with the core rules.

Proposal: DoV Fixes

Veto of a Self-Kill. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 18:40:36 UTC

arthexis may not post a DoV for 5 days. Change rule 1.9 Victory and Ascension to read:

Any post in the Declaration of Victory category is a Declaration of Victory (DoV). These posts are normally made because a Bill Murray believes they have achieved victory; Bill Murrays should not post a DoV for any other reason. Whenever a DoV is posted, the game immediately goes into Hiatus, if it isn’t already in Hiatus. During Hiatus, the only game actions that may be taken are those covered by Rules “Bill Murrays”, “Calls for Judgment”, “Gamestate Tracking” and “Victory and Ascension”. The Phil may not post a DoV.
Each Bill Murray may respond to an active DoV by voting FOR or AGAINST it, using the appropriate voting icons.
The Declaration of Victory may be resolved after 24 hours, or after 12 hours if the Phil has voted on it. Upon resolution, if a Weatherteam of Bill Murrays have voted on the DoV and more than half of the counted votes were in favour, then the DoV passes - otherwise the DoV fails. The admin who resolves the DoV must mark his name, and the final tally of votes in the admin field.
When a DoV passes, all other active DoVs are failed, and a new Dynasty begins with the Bill Murray who made the DoV as its Phil. (That Bill Murray may pass this role to another Bill Murray at this point, if he wishes.) The Hiatus continues until the new Phil posts an Ascension Address to the BlogNomic weblog - this shall specify the Phil’s chosen theme for the new Dynasty, and may optionally include a proclamation that any number of Dynastic Rules will be repealed, and that any keywords will be replaced with new theme-appropriate terms.
A DoV may not be started in the period between a passing DoV and that DoV’s Ascension Address. When a DoV is failed, if it has a number of AGAINST votes that equal or exceed Weatherteam, the Bill Murray who posted it cannot make another DoV until after 120 hours (5 days) have passed since the time their last DoV was failed.
A Declaration of Victory may not also be any other type of Official Post unless the rules concerning that type of Official Post explicitly state otherwise.

yuri came to the belief that since arth “obviously did not believe he (had) achieved victory”, it was not legal for him to post a DoV. Wakukee thought that, based on past DoVs, it was not necessery to believe one’s self to have achived victory—that was just explaing what a dov was for. Ais523 said that these problems were caused by a very badly written DoV rule.

Declaration of Victory: I haven’t won but still

ILLEGAL, as he clearly doesn’t believe he’s achieved victory.

Ok, but who adminned this? - Qwaz
Agreed, by not placing your name on the administration you are, yourself, commiting an illegal act. - Amnistar
Indeed. This will turn into a long forum for admins! -Darth
It was me, sorry. I forgot my name. Although,, there’s nothing that says that a DoV needs the adminning admin’s name. That’s just for proposals -yuri_dragon_17
It’s just standard procedure in this case, yuri. No harm done. - Qwaz

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 11:52:36 UTC

The purpose of this DoV is to make the proposal “To Be Precise” useless. Since I haven’t done this with the only purpose of delaying the game (but rather, as an advantageous strategic move that allows one of my rules to go on unrepealed) this should not be a bannable offence.

Proposal: Getting uncreative about Rule titles

Passes 7-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 23 Aug 2009 11:07:16 UTC

Create a new Rule titled “Bring Science Fiction into the Mainstream, as the Groundhog Desires” with the following text:

*A Bill Murray can “See the Star Trek Movie About Whales” by Proposing a Rule that mentions at least 3 of the following items: “Whales,” “Kirk,” “Spock,” “Sulu,” “Chekov,” “Uhura,” “Star Trek,” “Enterprise,” and “Set phasers to stun.”

*A Bill Murray can “Talk About Firefly” by making a Story Post that mentions at least 5 of the following items in context: “Malcolm Reynolds,” “Zoe,” “Wash,” “Inara,” “Jayne,” “Kaylee,” “Simon,” “River,” “Shepherd Book,” “Summer Glau,” “Reavers,” “Firefly,” and “Serenity.”

*A Bill Murray can “Invent the Lightsaber” by Proposing a Rule that makes it into the Ruleset and mentions the “Lightsaber” or by having a Lightsaber statistic of any Color in the GNDT.

Create a new Rule titled “Why is it today again, Mr. Groundhog?” with the following text:

*A Bill Murray can “Check the Date” by creating a Proposal with a timestamp that ends in a 0.

*A Bill Murray can “Realize it’s Yesterday” by creating 2 Proposals in the same day.

*A Bill Murray can “Make a Plan of Action” by Suggesting a Good Deed.

Create a new Rule titled “Prevent World War II with the Help of the Groundhog” with the following text:

*A Bill Murray can “Go to Germany” by having a Location of Germany.

*A BIll Murray can “Time travel to the early 1930s” by creating a Proposal that includes the word “Hoover” or “Chamberlain” in any derogatory capacity.

*A BIll Murray can “Kill Hitler” as a daily action.

Flashback “The Way to Wales.”

I want to make the rules Groundhog Rules in order to speed up the dynasty, and possibly get Bill Murrays near to completing multiple Good Deeds. The Flashback is useful to make the Location = Germany bit immediately meaningful.

Proposal: IRC advertisement

Fails 6 to 4- yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 17:26:15 UTC

The official IRC channel for BlogNomic is #nomic on irc.slashnet.org; it can be accessed at http://kevan.org/blognomic/irc/chat.html or at irc://irc.slashnet.org/nomic.

Not-so-subliminal advertising.

Proposal: Pop Goes the Princess: Reloaded

Failed 6-2 by yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 08:39:33 UTC

Create a new rule, “The Princess is in this Castle, but does not want to meet you”:

There exists an entity known as The Princess which shall be tracked by this rule. The Princess has a countdown which is an integer value that is currently 10. If no Proposals have been made for a period of 48 hours, any Bill Murray may decrease the value of the countdown by one (replacing all instances of the number 10 on this rule with 10 minus one). Once this action has been taken, no Bill Murray may perform this action again within a period of 24 hours.

At any time that the Princess’ countdown is equal to zero, repeal all dynastic rules, fail all pending proposals and begin a new Dynasty with no Phil.

Essays

I will accept Essays on any major topic in consideration for the related Good Deed, so long as they involve Blognomic in an important way. The Essays should be deep, meaningful, and connected to Blognomic.

Shouldn’t be hard, yuri, but your Essay does need to make some conclusion related to Blognomic. . . .

Pop Goes the Princess

Proposal: Your time on the limelight

Enacted 6-0 by yuri_dragon_17

Create a new rule, “Steal the Spotlight”:

Any Bill Murray may, as a weekly action, repeal this rule as if it has been repealed by rule “Phil the Groundhog’s dictum”.
Anytime this rule is added to the Ruleset through a Flashback, the Bill Murray who performed said Flashback aquires Time Immunity. At the same time, every other Bill Murray with Time Immunity loses any Time Immunity they had.

Proposal: When does this happen?

Enacted 4-0 by yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 08:38:13 UTC

Create a subrule to Phil the groundhog’s dictum, entitled Wait not yet, Groundhog!:

If a non-groundhog rule states that a certain action or effect takes place at 00:00:01 every Monday, then that action must take place immediately before the repeal of non-groundhog rules.

Just to simplify things.

Proposal: Consistency is a good thing

Enacted 5-2, by yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 22 Aug 2009 08:35:05 UTC

Create a new rule called “Groundhog timer”:

If there are ever any discrepancies between the hours and days specified for a certain time period in a dynastic rule, then the hours shall be adjusted to match the days.
Example:
A rule states that a certain action may be taken “once every 49 hours (2 days)”. 2 days and 49 hours are not the same length of time, so the rule is adjusted to read “once every 48 hours (2 days)”.

Create a subrule of Break Down, entitled An Exemplary rule:

Break Down cannot affect parts of the ruleset clearly labelled as examples.

Because this monday morning, the Break Down will cause a lot of errors.

Proposal: The Way to the Whale

Passes 8-0, yuri forgot to make it “Enacted.” - Qwazukee

Amend the current rule “The Way to the Whale,” replacing every instance of the word “Icicles” with the word “Books.” Also, every instance of the word “Icicle” shall be replaced with the word “Book.” The rule shall read as follows:

  * A Bill Murray can “Find the Whales” by spending 4 Books.

  * A Bill Murray can “Feed the Whales” by spending 8 Groundhogs.

  * A Bill Murray can “Release the Whales from Captivity” by spending 1 Book when the Atmospheric Depression is greater than 5.

  * A Bill Murray can “Hold a Whale of a Party” by creating a Proposal that is voted on by 90% of all Bill Murrays, rounded up (ie 90% of 5 being 4.5, rounded up equals 5).

  * A Bill Murray can “See the Star Trek Movie About Whales” by Proposing a Rule that makes it into the Ruleset and mentions at least 3 of the following items: “Whales,” “Kirk,” “Spock,” “Sulu,” “Chekov,” “Uhura,” “Star Trek,” “Enterprise,” and “Set phasers to stun.”

  * A Bill Murray can “Kill the Whales” by spending 1 Harpoon.

  * A Bill Murray can “Do Penance for Your Crime” by accomplishing the Step “Recruit Bono.”

Forgot that Icicles no longer exist. So I spent 4 Books instead.

The Holes in Our History Are No Longer So Obvious

I have now filled in the Ascension Addresses and dates for the last missing Histories, so there are no longer any red-colored Histories left. This does not mean all of the History is compiled, however; that is far from the truth. I would encourage everyone to continue filling the holes in the History, especially now that it carries a reward (see: Groundhog Historian).

As a daily action, a Bill Murray may spend 3 of any one GNDT tracked statistic and append or insert any one word to the text of rule “Time-Space Continuum Girder”.

yuri_dragon_17 has completed an empty section of the History of any Dynasty besides The First Dynasty of Qwazukee.

Well, he hasn’t really, but he deserved a reward for updating the Ruleset again.

IMPORTANT: READ - MAJOR CHANGES

Oh, no! Misread my own rule. These changes HAVE NOT happened. Reverting now.

I did the weekly purging, but A LOT of numbers of all kinds were changed in the Dynastic rules (+2 for odd, -2 for even). It would be a good idea to read over the ruleset, as many of the effects of rules have changed, somewhat dramatically.

Also, there are now discrepancies between hours and days in the ruleset (ie. “within 166 hours [9 days]”). Not sure what we’re going to do about that.

Oh yeah, all numbers that used to equal 2 have been reduced to 0. This is probably not good. The example Good Deed also has steps numbered 3, 0, and 5.

This is what happens when we unleash chaos into our ruleset.

Fails 2-3-3. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 17 Aug 2009 21:27:51 UTC

Append the following to the rule “Groundhog Victory”:
If all Bill Murrays meet this minimum requirement, then the Game is Up. If the Game is Up, then no one may make a Declaration of Victory. Instead, repeal all dynastic rules, and start a new dynasty without a Phil called “The Fifth Metadynasty”.

Because if nobody deserves to win… then nobody deserves to win…

So…

When are we going to have our first Weather Contest?
It sounds like fun =D

Proposal: Proactive troubleshooting

Enacted 5-2, by yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 16 Aug 2009 10:58:35 UTC

Add the following text to the end of the Rule entitled “Groundhogs Remember”, immediately after its first paragraph:

Enacted Proposals and CfJs may modify the Parallel Ruleset as described by the Core Rules.

Necessary because of the “may not be modified except as specified by this rule” clause.

Proposal: I don’t remember this…

Proposal: Time Loop… whad’ya talking about?

Enacted 7-2, by yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 15 Aug 2009 22:27:19 UTC

Create a new rule, “Time Immunity”:

Some Bill Murrays may posses Time Immunity. A Bill Murray that has Time Immunity shall observe all Mementos on the Parallel Ruleset as if they where Dynastic Rules instead of Mementos. Bill Murrays who posses Time Immunity shall have their names listed in italics on the list of currently active Bill Murrays.

A Bill Murray that has Time Immunity (the Source) may, as a daily action, transfer their Time Immunity to another Bill Murray of their choice (the Target), as long as that Target is not already Time Immune and has not been so in the last 48 hours. This action causes the Source to lose their Time Immunity and the Target to obtain it.

Roll DICEX, where X is the number of currently active Bill Murrays in the GNDT. The Bill Murray whose position in the GNDT matches the result of this roll obtains Time Immunity.

A game of tag, across time. Who’s gonna be IT, I wonder…

Create a new rule entitled “Break Down”:

If the first part of “Groundhog Victory” reads “If some Bill Murray has accomplished at least X Good Deeds”, where X is less than 10, an admin must take the following steps:
*Roll DICE2 in the GNDT with a comment of “Falling apart”
*If the Dice roll is equal to 1 then increase all odd numbers by Y, where Y is equal to DICE3, and decrease all even numbers occurring in the Dynastic rules (excluding rule numbers and references to rule numbers) by Y. This also applies to numbers spelled out, for example “sixty” instead of 60.
*If the Dice roll is equal to 2 then increase all even numbers by Y, where Y is equal to DICE3, and decrease all odd numbers occurring in the Dynastic rules (excluding rule numbers and references to rule numbers) by Y. This also applies to numbers spelled out, for example “sixty” instead of 60.

This rule may not modify itself, excepting the first sentence. The modification action may not be undertaken more than once per week. For the purposes of this rule, 0 is not considered to be either odd or even.

Not having much luck with this proposal. 4th attempt.

MAJOR fix

Complaining

I hate this dynasty. It just doesn’t make any sense. I mean, what genius thought time travel would make a good subject for a dynasty? And green? Why would anyone pick green as a background colour? Okay, I’ll stop complaining now.

The preceding is entirely fictional and does not represent the actual views of SingularByte. Incidently, since I stopped complaining in the last sentence, I’ve just completed step 5 of Improve the Dynasty.

Add a new subrule to the Rule entitled “Groundhog’s Paradise”.  Call it “Phil’s Verdict” and give it the following text:

As a daily action, the Phil may remove a Step from a Good Deed that he deems inappropriate, evil or against the spirit of that Good Deed.  He may not remove a Step in this manner that a Bill Murray has already accomplished, or remove a Step in a manner that causes a Bill Murray to accomplish this Good Deed.

The Good Deeds page needs a bit of moderation.  This will allow Phil to zap two or three of the worst offenders, and we can always flashback it later if necessary.  Also, this proposal can be adminned early due to the rule “Time Crunch Machine”

As a weekly action, a Bill Murray may remove a single step from a Good Deed as long as no Bill Murray has previously completed that step.

With their votes to this Proposal, Bill Murrays (including the Phil) may include the name of a single Memento. For each Memento named on at least 3 EVCs which contains the name of a single Memento, flashback that Memento.

Create a new rule called, “This is not exactly a Groundhog Rule”:

Whenever a Dynastic Non-Groundhog Rule is created through a Proposal, the text “This rule has been sponsored by X.” shall be added to the end of that rule, where X shall be the name of the Bill Murray who Proposed it. When a rule has the text “This rule has been sponsored by X.”, and X is a Bill Murray, that Bill Murray shall be known as the Sponsor of that rule.

When a Bill Murray Flashbacks a Memento by spending something tracked by the GNDT (spending 0 or less of something is not considered spending for this purpose), if the new rule’s text does not contain the phrase “This rule has been sponsored by X.”, that Bill Murray may add that phrase at the end of that rule, replacing X with their own name.

As a weekly action, a Bill Murray may increase their Books, Ghosts, Baseballs, Golf-Carts, Cameras and Groundhogs by DICE3 for each Rule they Sponsor. Whenever a rule sponsored by a Bill Murray becomes repealed, that Bill Murray may once, within a period of 48 hours, increase their Ghosts, Baseballs, Golf-Carts, Cameras and Groundhogs by DICE12.

Relatively fixed version. With the modification I made, Admins that flashback rules due to effects like those of Chaos Butterfly do not get to Sponsor the flashbacked rules.

Passes 7-0 on timeout—arth

Adminned at 13 Aug 2009 22:19:18 UTC

If any Step to a Good Deed exists with the text “Achieve Victory,” change that text to “Achieve Something Else.”

Since the way to achieve victory is through completing Good Deeds, and in order to complete a Good Deed you need to finish all of the Steps, having a Step “Achieve Victory” makes that Deed absolutely pointless (and completely un-achievable). Please stop making Steps like that.

Weekly Scourging

Proposal: Get a Day Job

Quorumed -yuri_dragon_17

Adminned at 10 Aug 2009 20:43:35 UTC

Create a new rule, “Groundhogs Predict the Weather”:

As a weekly action, the Phil may create a Weather Prediction Contest. To do so, the Phil creates a Story Post which contains the name of three cities (with a population of 521,999 or more) which exist in the world, followed by the name of one or more GNDT-tracked attributes and a number for each one of those attributes. The Contest is then considered Open. Then, any Bill Murray may post a comment to that Contest which becomes a Contest Entry if it meets these requirements:

* That Bill Murray has no other Contest Entries for that Contest.
* The comment contains a weather prediction for at least one of the three cities named by the Contest Post.
* Each weather prediction should indicate if the weather for that city will either be: Sunny, Cloudy, Windy, Rainy, Storm, Hail or Fog.
* The comment was made within 48 hours of the creation of the Contest.

After 120 hours (5 days) have elapsed since the creation of the Contest, the Phil my close the contest by updating the text of that Contest’s Post. The update must contain the current weather information for those three cities, followed by the number of reasonably correct weather guesses made by each Bill Murray in their Contest Entry. This causes the Contest to become Closed. Then, within the next 48 hours each Bill Murray whose number of correct guesses is more than zero and exactly equal to the number guesses they made, may increase the attributes named by the Contest’s Post, by the amount indicated therein. This increase shall be performed a number of times equal to the number of correct guesses attained by that Bill Murray.

If a Contest has remained open for more than 168 hours (7 days), it is immediately Closed. Then, each Bill Murray that posted a Contest Entry for that Contest may once, within a period of 48 hours, increase the attributes named by the Contest Post, by the amount specified therein.

Basically, the emperor asks players to guess the weather for up to three cities (but you can try to guess just for some of them) with a 5 day anticipation. For each one you guess right, you get a boost to one stat specified by the emperor at the start of the contest. However, if you get one wrong, you don’t get absolutely anything.

You don’t have to be completely exact on your prediction: but the emperor needs to consider that your prediction was reasonably correct.

Wow, that was a long journey.

I have finally returned, If you are willing to accept me back.

Every Sunday at 23:59:59, if rule 2.3 is not a groundhog rule, replace all instances of Icicles in this rule with the first word on the list in rule 2.3.

Reproposed with DC’s suggestions.

Create a new rule entitled “Coward’s way out”:

As a weekly action, a Bill Murray can choose to “take the coward’s way out”. A Bill Murray who takes the coward’s way out should make a post to the blog explaining this. He then may add DICE30 to his icicles, but may not vote on any proposals until both the following conditions have been met:
At least one instance of the time and day Monday 00:00:01 has passed since he took the coward’s way out.
At least 48 hours have passed since he took the coward’s way out.

Unrelated

I was wondering if you all think it would be a good idea to create a core rule along the lines of

If any rule(s) at any time prevent all current and future rule changes from being made, those rules are immediately repealed

The idea being to prevent this nomic from being frozen solid. Inspiration came of course from the “Boring” proposal last dynasty, which came much, much too close to passing.

Proposal: I remember that!

Veto of a Self-Kill. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 03 Aug 2009 06:20:20 UTC

Add a new rule entitled “G******** why not”:

As a weekly action, any Bill Murray with x or more icicles may spend x Icicles to Flashback y, where x is 5 times the total number of Flashbacked rules (including the one to be flashbacked), and y is any combination of characters. A memento is considered Flashbacked if it has been appended to the ruleset in accordance with rule “Groundhogs remember”. The Bill Murray must also make a post to the blog stating both the total number of flashbacked proposals, and the proposal being flashbacked.

Proposal: This will make you remember

Create a sub-rule, “Tie a string around your groundhog” under rule “Groundhogs Remember”:

As a weekly action, a Bill Murray may spend 10 Icicles, 15 Books, 20 Baseballs, 5 Golf-Carts or 100 Groundhogs to Flashback a single Memento of their choice from the Parallel Ruleset.

On Completing Good Deeds

Some things about completing the Steps of Good Deeds:

The only ways that each Step can be “accomplished” are enumerated in the Ruleset. These ways fall under 2 categories:

1. Specifically defined: Written out directly in a Rule, such as: “A Bill Murray can “Find the Whales” by spending 4 Icicles.”
2. When all the terms in a Step are defined in the Ruleset in such a way that they can be “accomplished” in the normal English sense.

While it may seem that you have completed a step in another way, unless it conforms to one (or more) of these 2 methods, it hasn’t actually been accomplished in a real Gamestate method; otherwise, there would be all sorts of shades of meaning as to whether something had been “accomplished.” cf. “edible” back in arth’s Dynasty.

It is necessary for me to say this because Bucky has tried to claim that he completed the first 3 Steps of the Good Deed “Writing the History.” Technically, he has not, since things like “History” and “Empty Section” are not defined by our Ruleset. Since I doubt anyone would deny that he has done these things in the past, I would suggest Bucky Propose that he has completed these Steps already; or, otherwise, Propose a Rule that will define the missing terms in that Step.

Outside that, the idea was really to add more to the History (i.e. something you’re just doing now), although I would hardly be offended if your Rules allow Steps to be “accomplished” retroactively. But when you are adding Steps, keep in mind that unless all terms in a Step are defined by the Ruleset, then a new Rule needs to be Proposed and passed in order for those Steps to ever be accomplished by anyone.

If there exists a Dynastic Rule entitled “Groundhog Victory”, repeal it.

Add a new Dynastic Rule to the Ruleset.  Call it “Groundhog Victory” and give it the following text:

If some Bill Murray has accomplished at least 16 Good Deeds, any Bill Murray who has accomplished the most Good Deeds out of all the Bill Murrays, or is tied for most Good Deeds accomplished, has achieved victory.  Every Monday at 00:00:01 UTC, reduce the number in the previous sentence by 2.

In other words, Phil has 8 weeks to get this dynasty running before one of us decides to kick him out.  Of course, we can always propose an extension if we need to.

Story Post: Good Deed: Making History

I Suggest making a Good Deed involving filling in the details of our History

Name: Writing the History
Step 1: Help Compile the History of This Dynasty
Step 2: Make a Real Contribution to the History of an Old Dynasty
Step 3: Complete an Empty Section of an Old Dynasty

Add a new rule called “Happiness”:

Each Bill Murray has a number of Happiness, which is tracked in the GNDT, and shall initially be 50. The maximum Happiness is 100; the minimum is 0. Once per day, any Bill Murray may decrease each Bill Murray’s Happiness by the Atmospheric Depression, if such a number exists; but only one Bill Murray may perform this action per day.

Add a subrule to the rule “Happiness”, called “Groundings”:

A non-grounded Bill Murray gains Happiness equal to the amount of steps taken to perform a Good Deed, after they perform said Good Deed.

Set each Bill Murray’s Happiness to 50.

Story Post: Good Deed: Improve the Dynasty

I suggest that making a lasting contribution to the dynasty is worthy of Good Deed status.

Improve the Dynasty:
1) Propose a Groundhog Rule
2) Ensure that your Proposal passes
3) Take an action under your new Rule

Create a new Rule titled “Expenditure” with the following text:

A Bill Murray can “Get Lots of Money” by having a number of Icicles greater than 16.

Create a new Rule titled “Underpants Collection” with the following text:

A Bill Murray can “Collect Underpants” by having a Grounded status of Yes.

Create a new Rule titled “The Road to Recovery” with the following text:

A Bill Murray can “Steal the Veto Icon” by having their name included in a Story Post by Kevan or 75th_Trombone that also states that that Bill Murray participated in creating a new Veto icon of a time-turner, hourglass, or the like. A Bill Murray can “Convince Anthony He’s a Fish” by having their name included in a Story Post by the Phil stating that the current Veto icon has been (at least partially) created by that Bill Murray.

The first one is self-explanatory. The second one will probably need to be redefined soon; I leave that up to you. The third one is basically a challenge because I want that Veto icon; if you fulfill the basic requirements, then I’ll Propose that you have completed the Steps even if some technicality bars the way.

create a new dynastic rule entitled: “happiness"with the following text:

add a new statistic to the GNDT: happiness level. the maximum happiness level of a bill murray is 100 ;the minimum happiness level is 0. a bill murrray will lose happiness equal to the atmospheric depression once per day(i.e. if a bill murray’s happiness is 50 and the atmospheric depression is 3, his happiness level becomes 47 at 00:00:01 UTC and 44 at 00:00:01 UTC the next day).

add a sub rule to dynastic rule “happiness” with the following text:

a bill murray is exempt from this rule if they are grounded.

a bill murray can gain happiness by doing a good deed, the happiness gained is equal to the number of steps taken to preform the deed.

set every bill murray’s happiness level to 50

lets try this again

i think there needs to be a reason one would want to become grounded

Proposal:Grounded for good reason

add a new statistic to the GNDT: happiness level the maximum happiness level of a bill murray is 100. a bill murrray will lose happiness equal to the atmospheric depression once per day(i.e. if a bill murray’s happiness is 50 and the atmospheric depression is 3, his happiness level becomes 47 at 00:00:01 UTC and 44 at 00:00:01 UTC the next day).

a bill murray is exempt from this rule if they are grounded.

a bill murray can gain happiness by doing a good deed, the happiness gained is equal to the number of steps taken to preform the deed.

set every bill murray’s happiness level to 50

this way people will have a reason to ground themselves

Create a new Rule titled “The Way to the Whale” with the following text:

A Bill Murray can “Find the Whales” by spending 4 Icicles.

Proposal: Weatherteam or quorum

Timed out with 8-1 so it passes -SingularByte

Add to the end of the first bulletpoint of “3.3 Keywords”, “If the words quorum and Weatherteam are ever different, they effectively mean the same thing.”

This is just so people can still call it quorum without problems.
