Proposal: Take 2

Passes 8-3. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Jul 2009 21:37:19 UTC

Add a new rule called “Fed-ex delivers” and give it the following text

There exists an entity called “Wilson” which is listed in the GNDT as if it where a Tourist. Wilson is a volleyball and cannot take any actions unless the rules explicitly state so on each of those actions. In those cases, that rule must determine which Tourist shall be the one that must make the appropriate gamestate changes (including making posts, modifying the GNDT or rolling dice) to complete that action. Those actions must always be clearly labeled as performed by Wilson.

As a daily action, a tourist may talk with Wilson. To do this, e makes a story post detailing his conversation with the volleyball. If, after four hours, no other tourist has commented on the post within the four hours after the post was made, the tourist who posted it may reduce their stress by one exactly once. If this would make their stress below zero, it is instead set to zero. He must do this within forty eight hours of making the original post or not do it at all. However, within four hours of the post being made, any other tourist may make a comment on the post, provided no tourist other than the one who made the original post has commented on it. After doing so, the tourist must increase the tourist who made the original post’s stress by two exactly once. If this would make their stress above twenty, it is instead set to twenty.

As a weekly action, a tourist may attempt to drown Wilson. To do this, e makes a post announcing that e is drowning Wilson. After twelve hours, if no other tourist makes a comment on this post, the tourist who made the post may replace this entire rule with “NAME is a big fat jerk” where NAME is their own in-game name. If no other tourist has already done so, any other tourist may comment on the post and then must immediately increase eir own stress by three. If this would make their stress an illegal value they may not do this.

If the Proposal titled “Going Home” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Create a new subrule under “Homeward Bound”, titled “A Perfect Tan”

Create a new subrule under “Homeward Bound”, titled “Sightseeing”

A Tourist is considered to have “Seen the Sights” when they have a Tourism score of 15 or higher.

Proposal: This dynasty is just stressing me out

Passes 9-0, with 2 in favor of the rider. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Jul 2009 21:31:18 UTC

Create a new rule called, “Breath Deeply”:

Whenever a Proposal fails, the Admin who fails that Proposal shall increase the Stress of the author of that Proposal by 1 exactly once, due to the author being annoyed at failing. As a weekly action, a Tourist may “Count to Ten” by rolling DICE10 in the GNDT followed by a comment of “Counting…”. Then, if the result of the roll is equal to or higher than the Stress of that Tourist, the Tourist relaxes and decreases their Stress by that amount. Otherwise, the Tourist grits their teeth and fumbles but is still stressed out afterward. As long as a Tourist’s Stress is exactly zero, that Tourist is considered to be Stress Free.

If at least half the votes on this proposal contain the word “Piggybacked”, then create a new rule called “Coconuts”:

Proposals regarding coconuts cannot be voted VETO by the Tour Guide.

Proposal: A Cake. For you.

Fails 4-4-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 02 Jul 2009 21:28:57 UTC

Create a new rule, “The Cake is Not a Lie (I Promise)”:

If at any point The Princess where to achieve victory, instead the last Tourist who has made a gamestate change to complete one or more actions performed by The Princess achieves victory.

Meh, past proposal contained a typo. Thanks to yuri for allowing me to re-propose it. BTW, this proposal has nothing to do with Mario and I hope yuri can understand that. In fact no proposal has ever referred to any Mario at all.

Story Post: Caribbean.

Make a new Rule entitled “Fun in the Sun”:

A Tourist who has a tan value of 20, a tourism value of 20, and a stress level of 5 or below, is said to have had a “good” vacation. Any tourist meeting these criteria may make a Declaration of Victory.

Proposal: Admin

No admin has made MacMed a Tourist yet, so this is illegal -Darth
P.S. Idle Admins are still always considered Admins, because “Some Tourists are Admins” is in Rule 1.2.

There exists a statistic in the GNDT entitled “money”, which can be any non-negative integer. The unit of measuring money shall be $.

Create a new Rule:  I scream for ice cream:

As a weekly action, any Tourist with at least $5 can spend $5 to buy an ice cream cone. The tourist then may either decrease their stress by 1 or increase their tourism by 1.

Set all Tourists’ money to $50.

Create a new rule “Time Manipulation”:

As a weekly action, a Tourist may spend 1 shine sprite to Rewind Time. To do so, that Tourist (known as The Scientist) shall make a comment in the GNDT of “Rewinding”, then immediately reverts all gamestate changes that resulted from all actions, excluding Time Immune actions, that have taken place exactly during the last 60 minutes right before the timestamp shown by the last “Rewinding” comment made in the GNDT. All Shine sprites spent by the Scientist for Rewinding Time are added to the shine sprites owned by the Tour Guide.

All actions defined by Core Rules are Time Immune Actions (for example, creating Proposals, Calls for Judgment, enacting Proposals, etc). Spending shine sprites is a Time Immune action (that is, no gamestate effects that result from spending shine sprites may be rewound). Actions taken by The Princess are always Time Immune actions.

Sometimes we will need a little magic to escape from the unavoidable grasp of The Princess… wait, don’t we wanna find her? Why are we escaping? It all seems backwards…

If, when a proposal is enacted or failed, a quorum of counted votes on it contain arrow icons, the Tourist who proposed it may once within 48 hours increase their own Tourism by 3.

This was Ais523’s proposal from earlier.

Proposal: Tour Guid Approval

Whenever a proposal passes with the Tour Guide voting on the proposal without including the phrase “Non-Tour Activities”, the tourist that authored the proposal may once, within 48 hours of the proposal passing, reduce the Tour Guides Shine Sprites by 1 and increase their own Shine Sprites by one.

If the majority of counted votes also contain the phrase “retroactive”, the Tour Guide votes FOR and the Tour Guide’s vote does not include the phrase “Non-Tour Activities” decrease the Tour Guides Shine Sprites by 1 and Increase Amnistar’s shine sprites by 1.

Self-Killed. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 29 Jun 2009 22:57:49 UTC

Create a new rule called “Rewinding Time”,

As a weekly action a Tourist can Rewind Time. To do so, the tourist spends any number of Shine Sprites that they own (only positive integer amounts may be spent, zero is not positive). The Shine Sprites spent this way are added to the Tour Guide’s Shine Sprites. Then, the tourist that took the Rewinding Time action reverts all gamestate changes that ocurred in the last X hours, where X is the number of Shine Sprites spent for this action. Spending Shine Sprites this way shall not be reverted. Then, if that Tourist made one or more proposals during those last X hours, those proposals are declared illegal and not considered as valid proposals.

Adminned at 27 Jun 2009 19:38:14 UTC

Make a new Dynastic Rule titled “Good Deeds” with the following text:

Create a wiki page titled “Good Deeds” that can only be altered by manners specified in the Ruleset. Up to 5 times per week, the Tour Guide may add a new Good Deed to the wiki page. Each Good Deed has a name, a set of Requirements, a Reward, and a Completed By section. The Tour Guide, when he adds a Good Deed to the wiki, must add a name and a set of Requirements, as well as a Reward. Whenever a Tourist meets a set of Requirements, he may add his name to the Completed By section. Whenever a Tourist legally adds their own name to the Completed By section, the Reward of that Good Deed takes place.

Make a subrule of Good Deeds titled “Epic Deeds” with the following text:

If a Good Deed includes the word “Epic” in its name, then it is an Epic Deed and only one Tourist may add his name to the Completed By section. If there is already a name in the Completed By section of a particular Epic Deed, then no Tourist may add his name to the Completed By section of that Deed.

Because, what better way is there to start of a new Dynasty than by doing Good Deeds? May I suggest that the first Good Deed be named, “Saving the Beached Whale.”

A Tourist may, as a Weekly Action, choose to Ignore a specified Dynastic Rule for the purpose of performing a single specified action.  The action’s legality and effects are determined as if the Rule didn’t exist.

At least, they’re enforced laxly enough that tourists can get away with ignoring them once in a while.  If a lot of Dynastic Rules are enacted, this could provide an interesting means to achieve victory.

My first real proposal, don’t be _too_ harsh.

A single EE site can contain more than one blog. So…

Here’s my idea: a subblog called TestNomic where you can test dynasty ideas. Each dynasty lasts for at most one week, so that the entire dynasty idea isn’t spoiled. TestNomic would also be used by those like Wakukee who like to tinker with EE. You could mess around with TestNomic all you like, and it wouldn’t hurt BlogNomic at all.

When tanning, if the number rolled by the Tourist is more than 2 below their tan statistic, that Tourist is then considered to be Sunburnt and thus changes their Complexion status to Sunburnt and increases their stress level by 1. If a Sunburnt Tourist changes location to another location that is considered to be outdoor whilst Sunburnt, he increases his stress by 1. A Tourist’s Complexion status returns to Normal after 48 hours.

I think this covers most cases. Obliviously its best to explicitly ban such actions in the rules they are described in, but incase we forget this covers it.

In the Dynastic Histories, rename “The First Dynasty of Geran” to “The Second Dynasty of Myke.”

I know that this theoretically doesn’t require a Proposal, but I think the Histories are important enough that I shouldn’t make a big change without formal consent.

Here’s the story: In the days of Blognomic lore, there was the first Dynasty ever. It was ruled by the Emperor Myke, who gave a direction to this game that would propel us into fortune; the rest is history. Incidentally, Myke never could have won Round One without the help of Kevan. Now, as the legend goes, following the First Dynasty of Lyndse, Myke was absent from the game and another early Blognomic patriot, Geran, earned his first Dynasty.

Years later, Myke revealed that he had controlled the character “Geran” as well, admittedly using two identities at once. Even back then, using multiple identities was frowned upon, and was probably illegal; only Kevan might still be able to tell you.

While Myke’s fraud is historical, and there is no question that he earned another Dynasty (though perhaps through immoral means), he should not be able to claim 2 Dynasties under different monikers. Therefore, I Propose that forevermore, The First Dynasty of Geran be known as The Second Dynasty of Myke, to right the wrong that has haunted Blognomic perpetually since its third Dynasty.

There exists a variable in the GNDT called Location, the legal values of which are any location that is in the Adjacency Chart. Twice per day (i.e. Sunday, Monday), but not more frequently than once every six hours, any Tourist may move to any Location that is adjacent to their current Location. The legal values for Location are any Location that appears in the Adjacency Chart.

The Hotel, Casino, Restaurant, Bar, and Theater are considered to be Buildings. All other Locations are considered to be Outdoor, or Outdoors collectively.

•Location-Specific Rules

The following Locations have specific rules:

Create the following subrules to “Location-Specific Rules”:
• Outdoor Locations:

Once per day, if there is at least one Tourist in an Outdoor Location, one Tourist must roll DICE5 in the GNDT for weather, and apply the results to the weather table. If no Tourist rolls DICE5 for this purpose, all Tourists in an Outdoor Location lose 1 from their Satisfaction.
Weather Table:
1:Extremely Hot- Any Tourist who successfully Tans today adds an additional 2 to their Tan statistic. All Tourists who are in any Outdoor location today add 1 to their Tourism.
2: Sunny- Any Tourist who successfully Tans today adds an additional 1 to their Tan statistic.
3: Partly Cloudy- Any Tourist who tries to Tan today must treat their Tan as if it were one higher when rolling DICE20 to tan.
4: Rainy -No Tourist can successfully tan today, regardless of other rules. Any Tourist who is in an Outdoor location reduces their Tourism by 1.
5: Storm- No Tourist can successfully tan today, regardless of other rules. Any Tourist who is in an Outdoor location reduces their Tourism by 2, and increases their Stress by 2.

Hotel.

As a daily action, any Tourist who is in the Hotel may do one of the following actions:

Beach.

Casino.

•. Play Roulette. They subtract $6 from their money, and then roll DICE11, and add the resulting number to their money.

Bar.

As a daily action, any Tourist who is in the Bar may do one of the following actions:
• Buy a nice glass of cool lemonade. The Tourist spends $5, and may choose Pink or White lemonade. If they choose pink, they decrease their stress by 1, white increases their Tourism by 1.

Create a new rule, Enjoyment:

Every Tourist has the following statistics, tracked in the GNDT:
• Stress. This can be any positive integer between 1 and 20, inclusively.
• Tan. This can be any positive integer between 1 and 20, inclusively.
• Tourism. This represents how much of the Caribbean they feel they have experienced. It can be any positive integer between 1 and 25, inclusively.
• Money. This can be any Positive integer, or 0. The symbol “$” shall be used as the unit for money.
• Satisfaction.
• A Tourist’s Satisfaction is equal to their Tan, plus their Tourism, minus their stress.

Create a new rule, Tour Guide:

Up to three times a week, the Tour Guide, or Assistant Tour Guide (if such a position exists), may arrange an Event. The Tour Guide or Assistant Tour Guide creates a story post detailing the event. An Event can affect any variable in the GNDT, as allowed by that event.

Set the Money statistic of each player to 75.

I think I see a hotel, a patio, and a really nice beach! Ok…ummm… rules…: Er… none. Knock yourselves out. Here’s $75.

Ascension Address: Let’s Kick Back and Relax

Well… that TV show turned out… interesting. Aside from most of us almost drowning, I think we had a good bit of fun. There was one little problem though… after almost dying, I managed to get myself disqualified, ending the show rather anti-climatically. That meant no prize fund.
That was really too much, so me and some of the others filed a class-action lawsuit for reckless endangerment, and breach of contract. After only a couple hours, the producers settled for $350 000. So I turned to Waukee and said, “Why not go on vacation!”
Thirty-six hours later, here we are, in a nice Caribbean Village by the ocean. Ahhh, isn’t it nice? Most of the Contestants from the show are here, as is the Host. We’ll just see how people react to him, after he abandoned us in that godforsaken bunker.
We are just going to drop by the hotel, and then I assume we will spread out across the town.

Call for Judgment: Ruleset implications

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Jun 2009 16:52:43 UTC

If the Proposal “Making the Ruleset Neat” passes, it shall apply to the Ruleset as it was immediately before yuri_dragon_17 posted a Declaration of Victory.

Or else it will be very confusing to enact.

Call for Judgment: Ban comex

comex changed his nickname in IRC to “Wobble”.  This is impersonation, which is against the rules, so he is hereby banned from BlogNomic.

Shem joins Blognomic

I think it’s about time I joined in, instead of just stalking you all and lurking in IRC.

I look forward to yuri’s new dynasty.

After six weeks of eating junk food and watching Reality TV, Shem has decided to step out of his front door and go and see the world.

Dynasty appearance

Before anyone goes off and chooses a new logo and colours, I would like to post this.
I have created a header, but if it’s horrible, we just won’t use it and someone else can make one. If we are using this header, the background colour of the blog should be #FFFFC4 or something close to it.
I don’t know how to do it, so I’ll leave it to you guys.
Thanks.

Story Post: [Flavour] Disqualification

[A camera points at the Host, who is rather wet, and drying off on a beach Outside. In the distance, several contestants, camera crew, and the Hostess, are busy attempting to salvage the bunker by pumping water out of it (or possibly sabotage it by pumping water in?)]

Host
So, it seems that, according to the rules, we have a winner. We’re down to three contestants, and between them they voted yuri the winner.
However, I’m not sure if we can call this a legitimate win. First, there’s the little problem of the bunker being mostly underwater. Swimming out to avoid a flood hardly counts as being voted out by the viewers; a need to evacuate the bunker is probably unusual circumstances, and I see no reason why the opinions of all the contestants who ran from the flood shouldn’t count.
Second, yuri went outside, and flooded the bunker deliberately. This sort of sabotage would be enough to disqualify someone as it is, but worse, he pumped water into the control room while I was in it. (No excuses, yuri; the cameraman was outside helping with the bailing and we caught it all on tape.) You know that bribing/blackmailing the Host is not allowed; attempting to drown me probably counts as blackmail.
Therefore, yuri_dragon_17 is disqualified. As for the prize fund? It’s dropping to $0. The amount of foul play here has been hideous. You all deserve nothing for a mess like this. I’m ashamed.

[Host storms off-camera]

Host
See, I told you I’d find some excuse not to give away the money. Mission successful, I think. Also, ratings had dropped way down, but we got a record number of viewers for the ending; I think I probably got away with that one.
Cameraman
Ah good. Now, any chance you could help me get out of here? It’s been a nice holiday, but I really need to get home sometime soon or I won’t get any work for ages.
Host
Well, I think the Kitchen’s dry enough to fit both of us in. Do you have any experience in getting Cessnas in flooded underground fridges to fly?
Cameraman
You’d be surprised…

[Host and cameraman swim back into the bunker.]

[The skies, above the island. Below are several people, looking like tiny figures, a bunker which has clearly just been dropped roughly into a hole in a ground after being transported to the island, and the wreckage of a tower crane.]

Host
Wow, you are good with technology. I suppose that all we can do now is pick a direction and hope we reach mainland; after all, I don’t know where I am.
Cameraman
Nah, that’s simple. North-north-west, and keep flying, we’ll be back home soon.
Host
You mean you knew where we were all along?
Cameraman
You never asked…

Don’t worry, this is purely flavour. It was a good and perfectly nomic-style win; just not the sort of thing that would normally be allowed in a reality TV show.

Declaration of Victory: Drowned the Competition

Passes 9-0. We’re still in Hiatus. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Jun 2009 22:57:40 UTC

All insiders support me.

Explanation

The two important rules here were “As a daily action, a Contestant (known as the Caller) may spend 1 point of Looks to change the Location of any Contestant to the Caller’s Location. If this action would cause the Caller’s Looks to become less than 10, the action can’t be taken. ” and “If the number of Remaining Contestants in a room is ever greater than its Capacity, Contestants in that room are in imminent risk of drowning; any Contestant (including the Host) may pull a Remaining Contestant in that room to safety, by making that Contestant an Evacuee. However, if at least one of the Remaining Contestants in that room has not been in it continuously for 24 hours (for the purposes of calculating this, being idle does not count as being in a room), then the Remaining Contestant who entered that room most recently must be chosen to pull to safety this way”

Darth used his luck to make his fruit roll a one, giving him a second action. He drowned DK and Comex this way as the indoor Garden has capacity 2 and only Rodlen was there. (even though the original idea was half DKs). Yuri had 2/3rds support, and so Darth welcomed him back in. Darth and Yuri headed to the control room, which also had capacity 2. Yuri moved Rodlen into the control room in the same manner. Only Neil, Darth and Yuri remained and Darth and Neil both supported Yuri.

And that, my friends, is truly a blognomic style victory. Thanks for helping Darth, thanks for help with the idea DK and good luck on your dynasty Yuri =)

Call for Judgment: Insiders cannot be outside

Passes 8-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 28 Jun 2009 13:39:35 UTC

No Insider may have Location value of “Outside” for any reason. If this CfJ passes, then all Insiders with the Location value of “Outside” immediately are returned to the Location value that they had immediately prior to being Outside.

The DoV was sort of a referendum on this, so I figured we should make it official.

So Here’s What Happened

Apparently, this did not happen.

Adminned at 24 Jun 2009 01:30:59 UTC

I would like to begin this by saying that I think that this was totally legitimate. If you can find any mistake I (or Wakukee) made, please tell us and we can fix this thing. But I think it’s legitimate.

When going over the Ruleset, I noticed a Rule that I had forgotten: “As a daily action, a Contestant (known as the Caller) may spend 1 point of Looks to change the Location of any Contestant to the Caller’s Location. If this action would cause the Caller’s Looks to become less than 10, the action can’t be taken.”

So I ate a fruit, and got the Hyper result (thus, I can Call twice today).

Then I called 2 Insiders to the Location of Outside, making them Outsiders (Outsiders are the only ones legally allowed to occupy the location known as “Outside”).

Wakukee went temporarily Idle, making Darth Cliche and Rodlen Support me, Qwazukee.

I became an Insider, because 2/3 Insiders Supported me.

Wakukee then unidled, becoming an Outsider via the Rule we recently passed.

Wakukee, having gotten enough Looks via Hat Dances, then Called one more Contestant Outside.

The only ones left Inside were me, Rodlen Supporting me, and Darth Cliche Supporting me. Since, with at least 3 Insiders, all other Insiders Supported me, I achieved Victory.

If you see any problems with this, let me know, and I’m sure there will be a big discussion. If worse comes to worst, I’ll just go back to the drawing board. Thank you.

Proposal: Making the Ruleset Neat

Passes 9-1. I’ll get to work enacting it. - Qwazukee.

Adminned at 25 Jun 2009 02:11:56 UTC

Take the following actions in order. When a reference is made to a “Rule”, that reference includes all subrules of that Rule, as well as subrules of subrules of that Rule, et cetera :

Make the subrule “2.1.3 Voting Events” into a Dynastic Rule, retaining all of its current subrules. Place the Rule “Voting Events” in the Ruleset directly after the Rule “Social Structure.”

Move the Rule “Confrontation” to directly after the Rule “Voting Events.”

Move the Rule “Challenges” to directly after the Rule “Confrontation.”

Move the Rule “The Coup” to directly after the Rule “Challenges.”

Give the subrule of the Rule “Final Showdown” the title “Casualties.”

Make the Rule “The Final Showdown” into a subrule of the Rule “Challenges.” Make “Casualties” into a subrule of “The Final Showdown,” if it is not already.

Make a new Dynastic Rule titled “Statistics” with the following text:

These are the statistics for this Dynasty.

Move the Rule “Statistics” to directly after the Rule “Social Structure.”

Make the Rule “Fame” into a subrule of the Rule “Statistics”

Create a subrule to the Rule “Statistics” titled “Looks.”

Move the first 2 sentences of the Rule “Exercise Regime” so that they are the text of the subrule “Looks.” (these sentences will no longer be a part of the Rule “Exercise Regime”)

Create a subrule to the “Looks” titled “Outshined.”

Move the sentence “Whenever two or more Contestants have their Fame increased at the same time, if exactly one of those Contestants has more Looks than each other of those Contestants, that Contestant receives 1 extra Fame.” so that it is the text of “Outshined.”

Move “My face is up here” and “Come here for a second” so that they are subrules of “Looks.”

Make the Rule “Hands off” into a subrule of “In or Out?”

Move the Rule “Luck” so that it is a subrule of “Statistics.”

Move the Rule “Putting Luck to Good Use” so that it is a subrule of “Luck.”

Move the Rule “Hats” so that it is a subrule of “Statistics.” Move “Hat List” and “Bare Head” so that they are subrules of “Hats,” if they are not already.

Move the Rule “Coloured Hats” so that it is a subrule of “Hats.”

Make “Taking Over the Controls” into a Dynastic Rule and move it to directly after the Rule “Bathing.”

Move the Rule “Looks Like Fame Is Good For Something” so that it is a subrule of “Fame.”

Move the Rule “Running the Late Night Circuit” to directly after “Taking Over the Controls.”

Move the Rule “Rewards” so that it is a subrule of “Challenges.”

Move the Rule “Prize Fund” so that it is a subrule of “The Coup.”

Change the title of “The Coup” to “Victory Conditions.” (for clarity’s sake)

Move the Rule “Go Fish” to directly after the Rule “The Bunker.”

Move the Rule “Hell’s Kitchen” to directly after the Rule “Go Fish.”

Move the Rule “Bathing” to directly after the Rule “Hell’s Kitchen.”

Move the Rule “Exercise Regime” to directly after the Rule “Bathing.”

Move the Rule “Deep Sleep” to directly after the Rule “Dear Diary.”

Move the Rule “Blognomican Hat Dance” to directly after the Rule “Picking Fruit.”

Repeal the subrule of Voting Events titled “Final Showdown,” as it has no effect (and we already have another rule

with that name).

You can see what the revised Ruleset would look like here: http://blognomic.com/wiki/index.php?title=User_talk:Qwazukee

Note that this Proposal has no effect on the Gamestate: it is simply a reorganization of the Ruleset. It makes the Ruleset a whole lot prettier, which is why I spent the time to do this. Also, it doesn’t change any of the rules, besides creating a new one called Statistics which is a catch-all for stats. It also changes some titles for clarity, and removes one subrule (read the last line of the Proposal) because it does nothing.

Note that the Rules at the end are ordered by what room they take place in (paralleling the list of rooms), with the Rule for Outsiders at the end. It’s neat, crisp, clean, and looks highly professional: just what Blognomic deserves.

Call for Judgment: Setting the Record Straight

Fails 0-8. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Jun 2009 16:35:40 UTC

Hopefully, someone will get the lucky number of 8!

Call for Judgment: Challenging the Challenge

Passes 8-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 26 Jun 2009 06:13:47 UTC

For the purposes of the current Challenge, if a Contestant posts (or has posted) the Dryness of a room when they should have posted the Integrity, for the purposes of the Challenge it shall be considered as if they had posted the Integrity (this does not change the actual value of the Integrity to the value of the Dryness, but does prevent Contestants from becoming Evacuees because they posted Dryness rather than Integrity).

Well, since NO ONE has managed to successfully barricade a room or pump water, I figured it was worth a CfJ. Certainly, ais523 did not intend for the current situation to come about, and would have preferred it this way rather than the mess we’re in now.

Proposal: Why bother?

Veto of a Self-Kill. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 24 Jun 2009 23:39:13 UTC

Yuri_dragon_17 has achieved victory.

Qwaz has already expressed support of Yuri. The nature of this challenge is potentially highly confrontational, and we’ve already seen people stoop to new lows in it. Better to avoid any further confrontation and just get the likely end over with.

Proposal: The Final Countdown

Passes 7-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Jun 2009 10:06:50 UTC

Make a new subrule to the Rule titled “In or out?” with the title “The Final Countdown” and the following text:

New Contestants (i.e. those who are becoming Contestants for the first time) and unidling Contestants have their Status set to Out.

This prevents someone from sneaking in at the last second and stealing the Dynasty. Now is a good time to unidle, and prepare for the Final Countdown.

Sgt. Zed, Bucky go Idle.

Going idle

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been growing more and more paranoid and irrational with regards to Blognomic.  This is not healthy for myself or the nomic and I feel I should take a bit of time off.

Since we’re in a Voting Event right now, this won’t take effect for another hour or so.

Story Post: [Challenge] [Extreme] Disaster in the bunker

This challenge is all about being the last remaining contestant in the Bunker, which is slowly filling up with water. An Evacuee is a contestant who is either Out, or has been made an Evacuee some other way by this challenge; Evacuees automatically become Outsiders when they become an Evacuee, rules permitting, or when a rule is added that allows a Challenge to make Contestants Outsiders; in order to “make another player an Evacuee”, you must make a GNDT comment to that effect (and change that player’s Status at the same time, if permitted). If an Evacuee ever becomes an Insider (for any reason), he ceases to be an Evacuee. This challenge ends when only one Contestant is not a Evacuee; that Contestant is the only Contestant who succeeds at this challenge (all others fail), and the Challenge Champion (and incidentally also wins the dynasty, due to being the only Contestant not to be an Outsider). Contestants who are not Evacuees are Remaining Contestants.

Each room of the Bunker has an Integrity value, initially 120. This value can be changed in the following ways:

  • A Remaining Contestant can attempt to barricade the room he is in against the rising waters, with the same timing as a daily action. To do this, he must roll DICEX in the GNDT, where X is 2, plus 1 for every full 10 points of Looks that Contestant has (more attractive contestants tend to be fitter, and can also more easily persuade other contestants to help), add the number rolled to the room’s Integrity, add another 5 if he used Luck to adjust the result of that roll, add another 1 if all Remaining Contestants in that room are wearing the same colour of hat (because hat synergy makes work go faster), and make a post here specifying which room was barricaded, and the new value of its Integrity. A room can be barricaded any number of times, subject to the timing requirements of a daily action. If a Remaining Contestant makes a GNDT dice roll to barricade a room, but then does not make the comment to this post specifying the new values within 20 minutes, any player may make them an Evacuee (this is to ensure people keep the records up-to-date in a timely manner).
  • An Evacuee can attempt to pump water out of any room (using the complicated miswired plumbing system), with the same timing as a daily action. This increases that room’s Integrity by 1, plus 1 for every 4 full points of Fame that Evacuee has (famous Evacuees can more easily recruit members of the camera crew to help man the pumps). Alternatively, instead of making this daily action by pumping water out of the room, they can pump water into a room, if for some reason they want to sabotage the bunker; this is done instead of pumping water out of a room, and decreases that room’s Integrity by the same amount it would otherwise have increased. To perform either of these actions, the Evacuee must post a comment to this post specifying that he does so, which room is affected, and the new value of that room’s Integrity.

Both of the daily action-timing actions above can be affected by the hyper rush from certain results of eating fruit.

A room’s Dryness is equal to its Integrity, minus the number of hours that this challenge has existed; its Capacity is equal to its Dryness divided by ten, rounded to the nearest integer but rounding multiples of 0.5 downwards (rather than the usual upwards). If the number of Remaining Contestants in a room is ever greater than its Capacity, Contestants in that room are in imminent risk of drowning; any Contestant (including the Host) may pull a Remaining Contestant in that room to safety, by making that Contestant an Evacuee. However, if at least one of the Remaining Contestants in that room has not been in it continuously for 24 hours (for the purposes of calculating this, being idle does not count as being in a room), then the Remaining Contestant who entered that room most recently must be chosen to pull to safety this way (as they couldn’t find as dry a spot as the others); if every Remaining Contestant in that room has been in it continuously for 24 hours, only the lowest-Fame Remaining Contestant in that room can be made an Evacuee in this way (because the producers want to keep famous people in there for as long as possible to boost the ratings); if more than one Remaining Contestant ties for lowest Fame, any of those involved in the tie can be chosen.

Incidentally, the Prize Fund has dropped to about $318,234; I’m not sure of the exact value. I suspect the cameramen were skimming some of it off the top while I wasn’t looking. Also, the Cessna is apparently part of it, apparently because we couldn’t easily fly a car out here so a plane had to do instead.

It’s been an especially high tide today; the hole surrounding the bunker is now full of seawater, and I don’t think the walls are going to hold up much longer. We’re going to have to evacuate the bunker; but to keep our ratings up, we want to leave famous contestants in there as long as possible. Pick the rooms you want to barricade yourselves in carefully; after all, most of the rooms have special rules of their own, and some may be more advantageous to you than others. Also, I would appreciate it if somebody would pull me to safety once the water in the Control Room gets too high for me to fit in there at the same time as all the Remaining Contestants in that room.

Story Post: [Challenge] Removing immunity

This is a challenge, that ends 1 second after it is created. All Contestants fail this challenge. Nobody is the Challenge Champion.

Don’t worry, it isn’t Extreme. This is simply to remove the ambiguity around Immunity, by removing it from everyone.

Proposal: Easier-to-track Final Showdowns

Passes 8-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Jun 2009 09:18:28 UTC

If the Rule “Final Showdown” does not exist, this Proposal does nothing.

Create a new subrule to the rule “Final Showdown” with the following text:

Extreme Challenges can cause contestants to become Out, even before the challenge ends.

Because the way I’m currently planning to do this, bookkeeping would be a real pain otherwise.

Call for Judgment: Voting Confusion

Fails 0-7. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Jun 2009 13:23:49 UTC

A Contestant with Immunity cannot become a Nominated Contestant in a Voting Event. For the purposes Voting Events, all Contestants with Immunity are considered to have -1 Votes.

This avoids a paradox in the Ruleset. Someone can add these to the Ruleset by Proposal if they want to, but I thought we should pass a CfJ right away to clarify this position.

Proposal: Scrub-a-dub-dub

Passes 4-2. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Jun 2009 09:07:04 UTC

Create a new Dynastic Rule titled “Bathing” with the following text:

Whenever a Contestant is in the Bathroom, as a weekly action, that Contestant may “Bathe” by making a comment in the GNDT of “Bathing” and a roll of DICE10. The Contestant then takes the roll to the ‘Bathing Effects Table’ below. If the dice roll is 1, the effect in the row titled ‘1’ is applied; if the dice roll is between 2 and 5 inclusive, the effect in the row titled ‘2-5’ is applied; if the dice roll is 6 or 7, the effect in the row titled ‘6-7’ is applied; if the dice roll is 8 or 9, the effect in the row titled ‘8-9’ is applied; and if the dice roll is 10, the effect in the row titled ‘10’ is applied.

Bathing Effects Table:

1 The Contestant, after bathing, is in a good mood and decides to clean the Bathroom. The Contestant may increase their own Fame by 2, but must reduce their Looks by 1.
2-5 The Contestant is cleaner. They may increase their own Looks by 1.
6-7 Bathing does wonders for the Contestant’s image; they may increase their own Looks by 3.
8-9 Out of soap. Nothing happens.
10 The Contestant’s singing annoys the other Contestants. The Bathing Contestant must reduce their own Fame by 1.

If this passes, there will finally be a Rule for every room! Hooray!

Proposal: Spread the Wealth

Fails 2-2. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 22 Jun 2009 08:44:51 UTC

Add a new dynastic rule entitled Gifting:

Any Insider may, as a weekly action, voluntarily Gift any other Insider some of their Fame by creating a post stating who they are Gifting to, and the amount of Fame to be Gifted.. The Gifting Contestant decreases their Fame by X, where X is the desired amount of Fame to Gift, and increases the Giftee’s Fame by X.

Proposal: My hat`s on fire, put it Out!

Diary Entry - 06/19 Clucky

Late last night, worn out from trying to argue with the brothers I decided to go take a nap. I hit the sack around 10 in the evening and slept a good eight hours. During which, I had the most incredible dream. I found myself surrounded by monkeys. They were preforming a strange dance ritual. As I observed, I realized I too was a monkey and I too was part of this ritual. We were in a line, and there were hammers. Bucky and Darknight were there, both they both looked like Monkeys. Many other people I recognized were also there, though none of them were currently around. Also the monkeys were wearing hats and I had a very distinct feeling of deja vu. Actually, it wasn’t really deja vu. It was more one of elation, like an awesome light bulb going off in my head. Suddenly, Qapmoc was the awesomest person in the whole wide world. I also noted odd monkeys, somewhat robotic, that acted differently than Bucky, DK and the other monkeys—as if there was not a player behind their brains. One of those monkeys, King Kong, used a large hammer and ascended to top of the monkey line.

Then my dream ended. I felt sad, because it was a good dream and I felt like it never got its real conclusion. However, I was aware than I had things that I needed to do and prolonging my dream, at least in my current state, would’ve not allowed it to have the same awesome qualities as it had so far and ultimately everyone would’ve suffered.

Proposal: Final Showdown

Passes 7-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 20 Jun 2009 21:13:13 UTC

All Challenges must be Extreme Challenges. Only 1 Contestant may Succeed at any Challenge, and that Contestant is the Challenge Champion. Challenges must incorporate the Fame, Looks, and Luck statistics. Challenges may not incorporate the Vote and/or Support statistics. Challenges may incorporate Hats.

Because it’s time for the partisanship of Blognomic to come to an end. With any luck, one final Challenge will be the best, most fair way to put this dark age of division behind us, and move on into the unified future of Blognomic.

Proposal: Telling time 101

Passes 7-0. - Qwazukee

Add the following to the end of “Timespans”

Any duration reference to a given day (i.e. “Sunday” or “August 2nd”), unless otherwise stated, inclusivly begin at 0:00:00 GMT on the mentioned day and inclusivly end at 23:59:59 GMT on the same day.

Proposal: What are these timespans for, anyway?

Timed out. Fails 2-4. Blognomic has passed the sanity test.—Clucky

Adminned at 20 Jun 2009 11:50:50 UTC

Add the following:

00:00 dd/mm/yy on any given day is considered to have occured on both dd/mm/yy and dd-1/mm/yy, due to the limitations of expression engine to display time. A daily action made on any given day at 00:00 cannot be made again until 24 hours later.

to the end of rule 3.2 “Timespans”.

Both Wakukee and Clucky are considered to have immunity until the completion of the next Challenge.

Story Post: [Challenge] Resolving the ambiguity

This is a challenge. All contestants succeed at this challenge. If Clucky was the Challenge Champion of the previous Challenge, Wakukee is the Challenge Champion of this one. Otherwise, Clucky is the Challenge Champion of this one. This challenge ends 1 second from now.

So that no matter whether Wakukee’s attempt in the previous challenge counts, Wak and Clucky each win one of the challenges, leading to the same result no matter which way round things are resolved.

Going idle

I’m going on a 2-week vacation, so for the second time in history, I go idle. Quorum remains nine.

Proposal: More Speeding

Timed out. Passes 5-0. Enacted by Clucky.

In subrule 2.1.3 Voting Events, change the text:

If either no Contestant has ever become an Outsider, or at least 72 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became an Outsider

to:

If either no Contestant has ever become an Outsider, or at least 48 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became an Outsider

W-w-wha??

Wait a second… did the blognoic time change for some reason?? Normally, a new day would have started 4 minutes ago… I WANT ANSWERS, PEOPLE!!

Story Post: Diary Entry - 06/17 yuri_dragon_17

Night before last, I had a dream. Clucky was standing by the door to the bunker, speaking to the assembled crowd:

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our Bunker.
Six score hours ago, a great Contestant, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed Looks like fame is good for something. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to two Outsiders who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But five days later, the Outsider still is not free. Five days later, the life of the Outsider is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. Five days later, the Outsider lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. Five days later, the Outsider is still languished in the corners of Contestant society and finds himself an exile in his own Bunker. And so we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
In a sense we’ve come to our Bunker’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our Bunker wrote the magnificent words of the Ruleset and the Declaration of Victory, they were signing a promissory note to which every Contestant was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all Contestants, yes, Outside Contestants as well as Inside Contestants, would be guaranteed the unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It is obvious today that The Bunker has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her Outside citizens are concerned. Instead of honouring this sacred obligation, The Bunker has given the Outsider people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.”
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this Bunker. And so, we’ve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind The Bunker of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our Bunker from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of Reality TV’s children.
It would be fatal for the Bunker to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Outsider’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. June Seventeenth is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Outsider needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the Bunker returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in The Bunker until the Outsider is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our Bunker until the bright day of justice emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
The marvellous new militancy which has engulfed the Outsider community must not lead us to a distrust of all Inside people, for many of our Inside brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
We cannot walk alone.
And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.
We cannot turn back.
There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We can never be satisfied as long as the Outsider is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of Admin brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the Bedroom of the Bunker. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Outsider’s basic mobility is from a smaller ditch to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: “For Insiders Only.” We cannot be satisfied as long as an Outsider to the north cannot pick fruit and an Outsider to the south cannot exercise. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until “justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.”¹
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from harrowing voting events. And some of you have come from areas where your quest—quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of Admin brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to the east, go back to the west, go back to the south, go back to the north, go back to the ditches and caves of our muddy cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Contestant dream.
I had a dream that one day this Bunker will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Contestants are created equal.”
I had a dream that one day on the red sofas of the Lounge, the sons of former Outsiders and the sons of former Insiders will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I had a dream that one day even the bathroom, a room sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I had a dream that my four little children will one day live in a Bunker where they will not be judged by their popularity, but by their score.
I had a dream yesterday!
I had a dream that one day, down in the Basement, with its vicious Green Hatters, with its creepy Crate-Man having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification”—one day right there in the Basement little Outside boys and Outside girls will be able to join hands with little Inside boys and Inside girls as sisters and brothers.
I had a dream yesterday!
I had a dream that one day every Card Game shall be exalted, and every room shall be cleaned, the Cessna will fly, and the kitchen will be used; “and the glory of the Host shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the Outside with.
With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our Bunker into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
And this will be the day—this will be the day when all of Reality TV’s children will be able to sing with new meaning:
My Bunker ‘tis of thee, sweet Bunker of liberty, of thee I sing.
Bunker where my fathers died, Bunker of the Pilgrim’s pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!
And if The Bunker is to be a great Bunker, this must become true.
And so let freedom ring from the lovely tables of the lounge.
Let freedom ring from the mighty trees of the Indoor Garden.
Let freedom ring from the shining toilet of the Bathroom.
Let freedom ring from yuri’s Crates in the Basement.
Let freedom ring from the ceramic stove of the Kitchen.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring from the medicine balls in the Gym..
Let freedom ring from the desk in the Diary Room.
Let freedom ring from every toe and weight standard of the Reward Room.
From every concrete wall, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every chair and every bed, from every door and every room, we will be able to speed up that day when all of Reality TV’s children, Outside Contestants and Inside Contestants, Executives and Cameramen, Producers and Investors, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Outsider spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank Reality TV Almighty, we are free at last!

Proposal: Give it to me!

Proposal vetoed! —Rodlen

Adminned at 17 Jun 2009 11:27:03 UTC

Increase yuri_dragon_17’s Looks, Fame, and Luck by Bucky’s Looks, Fame, and Luck, respectively.
Decrease Bucky’s Looks, Fame, and Luck to their lowest legal value.

Proposal: Preventing more misvote abuse

Fails 3-3. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 18 Jun 2009 14:23:55 UTC

In the Rule entitled ” Make your mind up”, change the text

a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider

to

a Contestant who is not Misvoting may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Insider’s Vote to the Vote of the Contestant the Misvoting Insider Supports.  If the Contestant they Support is a Misvoting Outsider, their vote instead becomes the Vote of the Contestant taking the Daily Action.

There have been a couple of cases where a Misvoting Contestant has been made to vote in a manner they would find objectionable e.g. for themselves.  This proposal will hopefully cut down on that significantly.

Proposal: Blue Hats

Passes 4-2 due to My Face Is Up Here. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 18 Jun 2009 14:13:46 UTC

Add the following text to the end of the rule “Coloured Hats”:

Insiders with a combined total of 30 or more Fame, Looks, and Luck have a blue hat. Outsiders always have a red hat regardless of these other conditions.

Change the text “An Insider with Fame, Looks, and Luck totalling 20 or more has their Hat set to Green” to An Insider with Fame, Looks, and Luck totalling between 20 and 29 inclusive has their Hat set to Green”

It’s been a while since we’ve had Cherries!

Proposal: Faster Turnaround

Passes 4-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 18 Jun 2009 02:28:00 UTC

In subrule 2.1.2 Make your mind up, change the text:

If at least 72 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became Out, or if no Contestant has ever been Out, a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider.

to:

If at least 48 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became Out, or if no Contestant has ever been Out, a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider.

The game’s traveling at a bit of a crawl, and even a little change will help it move faster. As a sidenote: would any of you favor a quicker turnaround on Voting Events, too?

Proposal: Colorblind

Fails 1-5. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 18 Jun 2009 00:05:57 UTC

Create a new rule called, “Colorblindness”:

Insiders wearing Red Hats cannot achieve victory unless they are supported by exactly two Outsiders wearing Blue Hats.

Really important, I don’t know how I managed to forget from including this! Well, at least this fixes it before someone can exploit the loophole…

Wakukee’s Diary Entry—06/15

Oh, g-d. I think I lost them. Where the **** did the raptors get lightsabers?!? Anyway… man, I’ve been running all around the bunker… not doing much but hiding and running, yet I somehow succeeded several challenges and won a voting event. How odd. I don’t remember any of this. What?!? And what’s this in my pocket? Cards? ...huh, no money. I remember having money. I guess I lost. I also don’t remember eating much… but I am still alive. This is getting creepy… What the heck are they putting in the water??
—Wakukee

At the bottom of the page, in a small, very different handwriting, there is another note:

...the heck?? When did I write this? That doesn’t sound anything like my experience… Raptors?? What Raptors?? Why would I write that, I don’t remember any of those things happening! Of course I was eating. And I did those challenges… and the voting event (that was scary)... And yeah, I was playing go fish… lost… the heck?!? Why did I write that… What the heck are they putting in the water??
—Wakukee ~For Dimensional Stability!~

*The page seems covered in blood, some appearing strangely green, and the page slightly singed. The date has been scratched out several times, as if it was about to be written, but the auther then had to suddenly leave, running.

Proposal: Blognomican Hat Dance

Passes 3-2. Fiesta! - Qwazukee

Adminned at 17 Jun 2009 14:48:13 UTC

Create a new Dynastic Rule titled “Blognomican Hat Dance” with the following text:

Whenever a Contestant has been in the Basement for 6 consecutive hours or more (and is still in the Basement), as a weekly action, that Contestant may perform a “Hat Dance.” The Contestant makes a post to the blog entitled ‘Y’s Hat Dance’ where Y is the name of that Contestant. Each Contestant may make a comment to the post once with a For icon symbolising that they have ‘Danced the Dance.’ Upon making the comment, that Contestant rolls DICE3 in the GNDT and increases their own Looks by that amount once. The Contestant may also change their Hat to the Hat above theirs on the Hat List one time, even if this contradicts the Rule titled “Coloured Hats.” When the number of For votes reaches Quorum, it is a “Fiesta!,” and if they have not already done so, all Contestants who Danced the Dance may increase their own Fame by 1. The Contestant who performed the Hat Dance may once increase their own Fame by 2 instead of 1 if they Danced the Dance.

Create a subrule of Blognomican Hat Dance titled “Hats All Around” with the following text:

Contestants who are Bare cannot perform a Hat Dance. If a Contestant who is Bare Dances the Dance, they may change their own Hat to Red once in the hour after they Danced the Dance.

I asked myself, “What can we do in a dusty old Basement?” And I answered myself, “We can have a Fiesta!”

Fresh Tangelos.

Story Post: [Challenge] [Extreme] Risk your insidership?

For this challenge, you can either choose to gamble or play safe. To play safe, just comment here stating that you play safe; or alternatively, do nothing (Contestants who don’t comment to this challenge at all will be considered to have played safe.) To gamble, make a dice roll in the GNDT (DICE6 if you do it during the rest of today (Monday), DICE5 on Tuesday before 12:00 UTC, DICE4 on Tuesday after 12:00 UTC, DICE3 on Wednesday before 12:00 UTC, DICE2 on Wednesday after 12:00 UTC) saying that you’re gambling (you can influence that with Luck if you like), and post here with a comment stating: that you’re gambling, what your GNDT dice roll was, and a guess (an integer) as to how many Contestants will gamble. You can’t gamble once you’ve played safe, or vice versa; likewise, once you’ve gambled, you can’t re-gamble with a different guess.

  • You succeed at this challenge if you play safe. You can also succeed if you gamble, and your guess was different from the number of Contestants who gambled by no more than your GNDT dice roll (e.g. if you guessed 2, and 5 Contestants gambled, you succeed iff your dice roll was at least |2 - 5| = 3).
  • To become the Challenge Champion, you must gamble. The Champion will be the gambling Contestant whose guess is nearest; if there’s a tie, it’ll be the Contestant involved in the tie whose GNDT dice roll was lowest; if there’s still a tie, it’ll be the first of the Contestants tying on both guess distance and dice roll to make the comment stating that they’re gambling. In the event that nobody gambles, the Champion will be a random contestant who specifically stated here that they were playing safe.
  • This challenge ends on Thursday (i.e. Wednesday is the last day you can gamble on); the number of gamblers is counted as of when the challenge ends.

Incidentally, the Prize Fund has now dropped by another $120,000 to $690,001, due to people failing at the pi challenge.

Some of the contestants look like they’re going mad, and are demanding a way out. Here’s their chance.

Qwazukee’s Go Fish

The number is 7.

Proposal: Bare-headed

Self-Killed. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 15 Jun 2009 14:06:48 UTC

Append the following to the end of Rule 2.23 Coloured Hats:

Outsiders don’t have a Hat.

Story Post: Pushing my Luck

I rolled a 10 for my sleeping result, but I would like to treat it as a 9.

Proposal: Don’t press it too far

Passes 9-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 15 Jun 2009 14:04:33 UTC

Append the following text to the end of the rule called “Putting Luck to Good Use”

A Contestant may not “Press My Luck” on a DICE roll in a way which causes a result that was not a possible result of the unmodified roll.  A Contestant may not “Press My Luck” more than once for the same DICE roll.

This is implied but not stated outright.  And you shouldn’t be able to roll a fruit/sleep/room table result that isn’t on the table.

Call for Judgment: Darth Cliché is still OUT

Fails 3-9. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 14 Jun 2009 18:58:38 UTC

Darth Cliche wen Out on the 12th, which is four weeks ago.

According to Rule 2.1 (In or Out), “If a Contestant remains Out for more than a week they lose 1 fame per week that they remain Out.”  We have not been tracking this.

Darth Cliché‘s Fame at the time he tried to bribe his way back in should have been 2, rather than 5.  As a result, he should not have been able to bribe his way back in

Therefore:
Make Darth Cliche an Outsider
Revert any actions Darth Cliche has attempted as an Insider since June 13th at 16:11 that he could not have taken as an Outsider
Set Darth Cliche’s Fame to 2
Set Darth Cliche’s Looks to 5
Reduce Qwazukee’s fame by 1 (to offset the Fame he gained as the bribe target
Darth Cliche is still eligible to become an Insider under Rule 2.20 later this dynasty

The Basement

(Classy jazz plays, with close up views of the best looking Contestants, and images of Darth Cliche and Clucky out in the rain…)
Voice over:

I don’t think you viewers have had a good look at our basement, so let’s take a tour.
There’s no one in here at the moment, but I have a feeling that someone will come down here soon - yuri_dragon_17 has a habit of hiding in this crate(the camera zooms in on a crate that is a lot less dusty than the others) and Rodlen likes to sneak up on him and scare him.
Over here we have spare parts for our Cessna (the view switches to one of a pile of propellers and wheels), and this little button (the camera shows a button) is the one featured in our very first Challenge! Take a good look at that button, folks.

Ummm… there`s not really that much else down here… let`s look at the entrance, and see if anyone comes down.
(No one does. The studio audience is forced to sit through 40 minutes of looking at the door; at-home viewers have the luxury of being able to change the channel.)

Proposal: My Face is Up Here exceptions

Change rule 2.11.1 from

When a Contestant casts a vote of DEFERENTIAL on a proposal which has been created by a Contestant that has more Looks than the voter, the DEFERENTIAL vote is counted as a FOR instead of as a DEFERENTIAL.

to

When a Contestant casts a vote of DEFERENTIAL on a proposal which has been created by a Contestant that has more Looks than the voter, the DEFERENTIAL vote is counted as the same type of vote as the vote of the Contestant who created the proposal in question.

Proposal: Hats of Power

Self-Killed. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 14 Jun 2009 21:12:39 UTC

Make a new subrule to Rule 2.19 Hats titled “Hat Hierarchy” with the following text:

A Contestant wearing a Green, Yellow, or Red Hat cannot Vote for a Contestant wearing a Blue Hat. A Contestant wearing a Yellow or Red Hat cannot Vote for a Contestant wearing a Green Hat. A Contestant wearing a Red Hat cannot Vote for a Contestant wearing a Yellow Hat. A Contestant who is not wearing a Hat cannot Vote. If a Vote is currently set to a value that is illegal under this Rule, then reset that Vote to its default value.

Well, this would make Hats do something.

Proposal: High Stakes Challenges

Passes 6-2. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 14 Jun 2009 21:08:20 UTC

Add a subrule, 2.12.1 titled “Immunity” with the following text:

The Challenge Champion of the last completed Challenge has Immunity until another Challenge has been completed. A Contestant with Immunity cannot become an Outsider by any means other than Confrontation.

Add a subrule, 2.12.2 titled “Extreme Challenge” with the following text:

If a Challenge includes the text [Extreme] in its title, then it is an Extreme Challenge. When an Extreme Challenge finishes, all Contestants who Failed that Challenge become Outsiders. All Contestants who Succeeded at an Extreme Challenge gain 1 Fame when that Challenge finishes (in addition to any Fame they might otherwise receive.)

Time to up the stakes on the Challenges, which have been high-quality but low risk. Immunity puts a lot up for grabs. I trust ais523 to use Extreme Challenges judiciously.

Proposal: Defining Social Classes

Passes 5-2. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 14 Jun 2009 20:50:07 UTC

Create a new Dynastic Rule entitled “Coloured Hats”:

An Insider with Fame, Looks, and Luck totalling 20 or more has their Hat set to Green.
An Insider with Fame, Looks, and Luck totalling between 11 and 19 inclusive has their Hat set to Yellow.
An Insider with Fame, Looks, and Luck totalling 10 or less has their Hat set to Red.

Also, I noticed the beginning of rule 2.19.2 reads “Some Contsetants don’t have a Hat”. This should read “Some Contestants don’t have a Hat”. Could an admin please fix this?

Tangelos For all

Proposal: Inacurate

Vetoed. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 13 Jun 2009 16:36:44 UTC

Create a new rule “Black Hats”:

The Hat of the Contestants named X is Black.

Change the text of rule “Black Hats” so that X is changed to the names of each Contestant that voted FOR on this proposal.

What’s with the Cluck?

  *  +10 for each point of Fame that Contestant has;
  * +1 for each point of Looks that that Contestant has;
  * +3 for each point of Luck that that Contestant has;
  * +5 for each Insider who Supports that Contestant;
  * -12 for each Insider who is Voting for that Contestant.

Clucky: 1 times +10 = 10
+ 6 times +1 = 6
+ 0 times +3 = 0
+ 2 times +5 = 10
+ 6 times + -12 = -72
————————————————
-46 Popularity

Wakukee: 1 times +10 = 10
+ 5 times 1 = 5
+ 0 times +3 = 0
+ 1 times +5 = 5
+ 5 times -12 = -60
———————————————
-40 Popularity

-40 (Wakukee) > -46 (Clucky). Clucky goes out.

Proposal: Ooh, look at all these buttons

Passes 9-1. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 12 Jun 2009 20:47:32 UTC

Add a subrule to rule 2.3 called “Taking Over the Controls”, with the following text:

Any Insider who has been in the Control Room continuously for 6 hours can do filming as if he was the Host. This is only legal if the Host could legally do filming at that moment; and it counts as the Host’s filming for that day. For the purpose of rules such as ‘Putting Luck to Good Use’, the random dice rolls rolled by that Insider in order to do filming as if he was the Host count as rolls by that Contestant, not as rolls by the Host.

So you can use your Luck in order to bias the chances of filming a particular room. And film for me when I’m offline. For all I know, many of the buttons up here have an effect on which cameras work; maybe we’ll even find cameras that we didn’t know were there! There’s no manual, though, so you pretty much have to press buttons at random and hope. Don’t worry if you end up doing the voiceover by mistake; our video editors are very good, they’ll make you sound like me on the broadcast.

Proposal: Some People Have All the Luck

Passes 10-1, 8 in favor of the secondary rule. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 12 Jun 2009 18:06:00 UTC

Add a new rule entitled “Some People Have All the Luck”:

As a weekly action, any contestant who is in the Reward Room may make a comment to the GNDT stating that they are “Getting Lucky”. They may then roll DICE3 and add the resulting number to their Luck once.

If a Quorum of Votes on this Proposal contain the phrase “Lucky Break”, then all Contestants may make one roll of DICE3 within the next 72 hours and add the result to their Luck once.

Also, change the text in the Glossary which reads “All integers, unless stated otherwise by a rule, are in base ten.” to “All numbers, unless stated otherwise by a rule, are in base ten. “

Adminned at 12 Jun 2009 17:55:46 UTC

In Rule 2.2 Social Structure, change the text:

A Contestant’s Support defaults to the Contestant immediately below them in the GNDT, skipping the Host, with the bottom Contestant defaulting to the top Contestant.

to:

A Contestant’s Support defaults to the Contestant immediately above them in the GNDT, skipping the Host, with the top Contestant defaulting to the bottom Contestant.

This way, new Contestants can get some Support (whenever another new Contestant joins), instead of all new Contestants Supporting Bucky.

Diary Entry - 06/11 yuri_dragon_17

I had a weird dream last night. I got run over by a Cessna. Anyway…
I’ve eaten a good bit of fruit over the last few days; it’s pretty tasty. Some of the others were all gathered in a corner for a while. They said they were having a pie contest. I wish I could have some pie, but I can’t if I want to be the best looking contestant. There’s just Qwazukee ahead of me, but some of the others are catching up. If they get too close, I’m going to have to dispose of them.

Proposal: Outsiders Finding Their Way Back In

Passes 7-3. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 12 Jun 2009 16:50:57 UTC

Create a new Dynastic Rule titled “Looks Like Fame Is Good For Something” with the following text:

An Outsider who has at least 5 Fame may “Bribe My Way Back In” by spending 5 Fame. When a Contestant “Bribes My Way Back In,” they become an Insider, and have their Vote and Support stats returned to their default values. In order to “Bribe My Way Back In,” the Contestant must make a blog post describing who he is Bribing (he can only Bribe an Insider who has a higher Fame rating than he did before spending 5 Fame, or the Host). The Bribed Contestant (or Host) may increase their own Fame by 1 once (the Host can gain Fame through this method). When a Contestant becomes an Insider by “Bribing My Way Back In,” they set their Location to “Control Room” and decrease their Looks by 1 (to a minimum of 0). No Contestant may ever “Bribe My Way Back In” more than once. No Contestant may “Bribe My Way Back In” at any time when there are fewer than 6 Insiders.

Create a New Dynastic Rule titled “Running the Late Night Circuit” with the following text:

As a weekly action, an Outsider may “Appear on a Late Night TV Show” if their Fame is less than 5. To do this, the Outsider makes a Comment in the GNDT of “Conan” and a roll of DICE2. They may then increase their Fame score by the DICE roll’s result, to a maximum of 5 Fame.

The idea here is to keep Outsiders involved in the game. The specifics aren’t particularly important, but I’ll run down the reasons here, just in case you’re wondering:

The restriction to Bribing higher-Fame Insiders is because only Insiders with a high amount of Fame will be able to finagle the show’s Producers, etc. into bringing an Outsider back.
This lets them Bribe ais because not only does that make sense, but it lets ais pick up some of the Fame he has long deserved.
The Fame increase is the reward that the Bribees get in return for their trouble.
The decrease in Looks is because it looks bad to Bribe people (duh).
The restriction on Bribery only once is because we really don’t want this to be an infinite loop.
The 6 Insider restriction is so that Bribery won’t affect what will be the endgame (which is the exact opposite of the last Dynasty, if you think about it).
The 5 Fame restriction on Late Night is so that Contestants don’t intentionally become Outsiders in order to gain Fame.
The keyword “Conan” is in honor of Conan O’Brien taking over the Tonight Show.

Like I said, that’s just the thought behind the Proposal, for those who wanted to know.

Hey, I found tangelos. Want some?

Wooble’s Fruit Picking

So I was in the indoor garden looking for something to eat, and I came across some kind of scary citrus hybrid thingy.  I think it’s called a tangelo.  I picked enough for everyone, but I don’t know if anyone’s going to want to eat one.

Proposal: Back with the Old

Passes 5-0-3. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 11 Jun 2009 20:19:14 UTC

Add a new rule Called ‘Hats’, as follows:

Most Contestants have a Hat, each tracked in the GNDT. The default hat for a new Contestant is Blue. The list of hats a Contestant can have is known as the Hat list. When an action makes a Contestant change hat (and does not specify which hat to change to) they change to the hat 1 lower on the list than their current hat (If their hat is at the bottom of the list they change to the first hat).

Add a sub-rule to Hats called ‘Hat list’, as follows:

The following is the list of hats known as the Hat List:

  * 1. Blue
  * 2. Green
  * 3. Yellow
  * 4. Red

Add a second sub-rule to Hats called ‘Bare Head’, as follows:

Some Contsetants don’t have a Hat. Such Contestants are said to be Bare-headed (or Bare). If a Contestant is bare the word ‘Bare’ appears as their entry under Hat in the GNDT. If an action tells a Contestant to become Bare (or if an action tells a Contestant to lose their hat), they lose their hat and are then bare.

Proposal: Social Showdown

Passes 10-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 10 Jun 2009 20:12:19 UTC

Add a new subrule to the Rule entitled “Voting Events”.  Call the subrule “Final Showdown” and give it the following text:

If all Insiders are Nominated Contestants during the same Voting Event, then for the purposes of calculating Popularity for that Voting Event all Outsiders are considered to be Insiders.

This will make the final Voting Event for the last two Contestants less trivial than just comparing Fame/Looks.  It might also affect the final 3, but probably not.  Also note that Outsiders’ votes don’t affect who gets nominated, or trigger the other vote-out conditions, or let the Outsiders support anyone.

Story Post: [Challenge] How I wish I could memorize pi…

This is a challenge about the number pi (which I hear many of you have been memorizing…) For the purpose of this challenge, the “first digit” of pi is the 3 at the start; the second digit is the 1 after the decimal point, the third digit is the 4 after that, and so on.

The only posts that count for this challenge are comments to this post that follow a certain format:

  • A sequence of digits of pi from 6 to 60 digits long inclusive
  • In square brackets, the position of the last digit of your sequence in pi
  • Optionally, other commentary

Also, each sequence of digits must follow on from the previous one, with the first sequence starting at the first digit (for instance, if the first two people each went for 6-digit sequences, the comments might look like (person 1) 3.14159 [6] (person 2) 365358 [12]. You can make any number of comments of this form, until the challenge ends; however, you must obey daily action timing when making the comments (i.e. you can only make one such comment per day, and each such comment must be at least six hours after any previous such comment you made, even if they’re on different days). The scoring on this contest depends on the average (arithmetic mean) value of one of your sequences (e.g. 3.14159 scores 3.8333333…, the average of those six numbers):

  • To succeed at this challenge, at least one of your comments must have an average of 5 or more.
  • To become the champion of this challenge, you must get the highest average amongst all comments.
  • This challenge ends once the thousandth digit of pi is contained in a sequence, or on Monday if the thousandth digit hasn’t been reached by then.

Good luck, everyone!

Of course, nobody could do 1000 digits from memory, but a cheat sheet is circulating amongst the contestants; see this list of digits of pi (make sure nobody’s edited it to something incorrect first!).

Proposal: Voting Clarity

Passes 4-3, strangely, b/c of My Face Is Up Here. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 10 Jun 2009 20:00:58 UTC

In Rule 2.1.2 Make your mind up, change the text:

A Contestant whose Vote is not set to an Insider is said to be Misvoting. If at least 72 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became Out, a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider. (Changing the Vote of one Misvoting Contestant is the same daily action as changing the Vote of a different Misvoting Contestant; therefore, each Contestant may only change one other Contestant’s Vote per day.)

to:

An Insider whose Vote is not set to an Insider is said to be Misvoting. If at least 72 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became Out, or if no Contestant has ever been Out, a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider. (Changing the Vote of one Misvoting Contestant is the same daily action as changing the Vote of a different Misvoting Contestant; therefore, each Contestant may only change one other Contestant’s Vote per day.) Outsiders shall have their Vote statistic set to blank.

Fixes a couple things. Allows Misvoting as it was originally designed to be, so that if all Outsiders go Idle, Misvoting can still take place (remember that CfJ a while back?). Also, since the Votes of Outsiders have no effect on the Gamestate, this causes them to be blanked (making it easier to count Votes in Voting Events).

Proposal: Grace Period (Revised)

Passes 10-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 10 Jun 2009 17:23:52 UTC

Add a new rule to 2.3.1 Voting Events called “Grace Period”

If a contestant has been registered and active for less than a period of 56 hours, he may be excluded from 1(One) voting event during the Grace period of 56 hours or until he has accumulated 2 fame, whichever goal is completed first.

The first one was an obvious fail, so while remaking it I decided to revise the addition to make it more appropriate.

Diary Entry - 06/08 Qwazukee

I had the quite a dream today, leaving me perhaps more tired that when I got into bed. It started with that guy who got Voted Out and then disappeared, The Avenger or whatever he was called. He was trying to produce some sort of movie. The movie’s hero, named “Stewart” or “Stweart” or just “Hero” at the beginning, kept going through incoherent montage Scenes with bad guys blowing up everywhere. So much blood! There was a relatively attractive Tall Girl, didn’t catch her name, who kept popping up occasionally for flavor. The cast was star-studded; I think I caught Angelina Jolie, 50 Cent, Mahatma Gandhi, and Brad Pitt playing multiple roles (very confusing). After the climactic Scene (ninjas everywhere), instead of Credits, there was just our current Host shouting “I win, I win!” or some such rubbish. Something about meerkats. It was such a mess, I woke up sweating. So good to be back in the world of the waking. I hope Stweart and the Tall Girl hooked up.

I would go with 00, to stick with the theme, but I can’t, so how about 11?

Proposal: Spam Control

Passes 12-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 08 Jun 2009 22:53:28 UTC

Modify the challenge “Double Zero” so that everyone fails.  Then finish it.  The Prize Fund shall not change as a result of that challenge.

Those of us in IRC discovered how to reliably manipulate our comments to register at the correct time.  Rather than engage in a spam-fest, we decided to kill the challenge.

The “[Challenge] Double 0” Comment Post.

A comment post.

If you want to make a post to the “Double 0” Challenge thread, but do not want to mess up your abilities to win said challenge, just post that particular comment here.

Story Post: [Challenge] Double Zero

Time for another challenge! This one is a challenge of timing, and will last for the rest of today, Monday, and Tuesday. What you basically have to do is post comments at the start of a new minute; to be precise, the seconds value of the time at which you post the comment needs to be 00.

  • To succeed at this challenge, you must post at least one comment to this thread before the challenge ends, and the timestamp of every comment you post to this thread before the challenge ends must end :00 (even a single comment not on an exact minute will cause you to fail, as will not posting at all).
  • To become the champion of this challenge, post the most comments to this thread, whilst still succeeding; if there’s a tie, whoever was first to post their last comment (out of the tied contestants) will become the champion.
  • This challenge ends on Wednesday. (Incidentally, a comment with a timestamp of midnight on Wednesday morning doesn’t count, so 23:59:00 on Tuesday will be your last chance to post a comment.

Good luck, everyone!

Proposal: Rummaging in the Basement

Self-Killed for strategy purposes. I had to make sure Bucky wasn’t going to Self-Kill the Spam Proposal, so I S/Ked this in order to enact that one real fast. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 08 Jun 2009 22:47:55 UTC

Create a new Dynastic Rule titled “Rummaging” with the following text:

When a Contestant is in the Basement, as a weekly action, that Contestant may “Rummage” by making a comment in the GNDT of “Rummaging” and a roll of COLOR. If the color rolled is Silver or Green, then that Contestant may increase their Luck by 1. If the color is Magenta or Purple, the Contestant may increase their Fame by 1. If they do so, they may give an ability to any Reward that has no current Ability or Owner. If the color rolled is Red, that Contestant may create a Reward (even if they have already created a Reward this week). If a Contestant creates a Reward this way, then the Owner of that Reward is the Contestant who created it.

You guys could create more color meanings if you want, I just thought of some. The colors theoretically correspond to the impact: Silver grants Luck because it is Lucky to find Silver. Likewise, Green is Lucky b/c of Irish connotations, Magenta and Purple are majestic colors representing the finding of something cool that brings Fame, which is one of the Rewards (which has been stashed in the Basement, to be brought to the Reward Room at the appropriate time). Red is a color of change. Or at least, that’s what I was thinking when I made this, you can take it as you will.

Proposal: Iron Chef

Passes 8-0. - Qwazukee

Adminned at 06 Jun 2009 22:27:19 UTC

If there is a Rule titled “Hell’s kitchen,” then add the following to the end of it:

When the number of For votes reaches Quorum, if they have not already done so, the Contestant who Cooked may increase their own Fame by 1.

Replace the last period in the Rule “Go Fish” with the following text:

once.

The first bit rewards Cooking. The second bit makes sure that Go Fishers cannot increase their Fame ad infinitum.

Thrwoing you some ideas

I’ve been out of proposals slots for a while now, but I have many ideas, so I will throw in some that anybody can propose and feel smart like me:

* A weekly action that can be taken while in the bedroom, that costs 3 looks and gives another Contestant +1 Luck. Props for creative names for this..
* A new stat called stress that has a negative impact on you as a balance for some positive actions, and as way to attack other contestants.
* A rule that allows Contestants with low Fame to move twice a day, due to being stealthy.
* An effect that decreases Looks every week that a Contestant has failed to visit the Bathroom.
* A daily action that allows a Contestant to spend 1 Fame to go to get their vote counted twice, on a single proposal.

Proposal: My looks are so edgy

Create a new sub-rule “Come here for a second” under rule “Exercise Regime”:

As a daily action, a Contestant (known as the Caller) may spend 1 point of Looks to change the Location of any Contestant to the Caller’s Location. If this action would cause the Caller’s Looks to become less than 10, the action can’t be taken.

I see the prop guys have been working on some of this stuff already; there already seems to be a plane in the fridge, no idea how it got there, but much of the food we should be able to work on. (Not counting the whole of Wikipedia; that would just be silly, and rather expensive.)

We got funny looks when we tried to order the Soylent Green, so we gave up on that one. Also, the DDA wouldn’t let us have any of their special proprietary ingredients, so you’ll have to do without; and we didn’t order the dolphin in case the media tried to attack us over it, though. Oh, and try not to choke on the cans.

And yes, I’m back. (Could someone add the Control Room to the GNDT and wiki ruleset, unless there’s some reason it wasn’t? I’m trying to balance on a hyphen at the moment, it’s rather uncomfortable.)

Proposal: How to win this dynasty

Passed 11-1—Rodlen

Adminned at 06 Jun 2009 21:06:17 UTC

Add a new Dynastic Rule to the Ruleset.  Call it “The Coup” and give it the following text:

If at any time there are at least three Insiders, and one Insider is supported by every other Insider, the supported Insider achieves victory.  Achieving victory in this manner is called “winning by consensus”
If at any time there is exactly one Insider, that Insider achieves victory.  Achieving victory in this manner is called “winning by default”.
If at any time there are no Insiders, all Outsiders immediately become Insiders. This is called a Coup.

The win condition for exactly two Insiders is complex enough that it should be proposed separately.

Only a single Weight Gain action may be made on an Eater in response to each Eating action by that Eater.

Proposal: Eat, Eat!

Adminned at 06 Jun 2009 16:34:43 UTC

Add a rule called “Hell’s Kitchen”:

In the post, the Contestant may include the name or description of the dish cooked (Contestant’s choice, bearing in mind the ingredients available). Each Contestant may make a comment to the post once with a For icon indicating that they are Eating the Cooking of Z. Upon making the comment, that Contestant may change their own Support value to Z, or their own Vote value to Z, even if this violates frequency restrictions on changing Support and Vote values as stated in other rules.

Diary Entry - 06/03 Qwazukee

It’s been a lovely week so far. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Gym getting buff and writing poetry. I question the use of refrigerator space, but I guess with the lack of a real Tetris game, that will have to do. I sure hope the Producers or whoever know what they’re doing; with numerous Contestants having gone missing and the Host nowhere in sight, I’m not quite at ease with the whole situation. But I can’t really complain, I suppose. It’s probably better than my backup plan, if I hadn’t gotten on this show; Battle School sounds like a drag.

Diary Entry - 06/03 yuri_dragon_17

Story Post: [Challenge] Poetry contest

Now, time for something completely different. You have the rest of today (not a lot), Tuesday, and Wednesday, to submit poems (as comments to this post) for a poetry contest; ideally, these should relate to nomic as a whole, BlogNomic, or this dynasty in particular (flavour-wise or rules-wise, your choice). On Thursday and Friday, all Contestants can vote for their favourite poem out of the submissions in the comments here (use an arrow followed by the name of the contestant whose poem you’re voting for to vote); Contestants can’t vote for themselves. I can’t vote; but if there’s a tie for the most votes, I choose who wins the tie.

  • To succeed at this challenge, get at least one vote.
  • To become the Challenge Champion, get the most votes. (I will choose who becomes Champion if there’s a tie, from amongst the tied Contestants.)
  • This challenge ends on Saturday, although from Thursday onwards you can’t submit new poems.

Good luck!

Welcome back again to Reality TV. Today, more footage from the diary room, followed by coverage of our first eviction. (Yes, we tried to get rid of Devenger earlier, but he ran away before we could film him leaving.)
[Diary room footage plays. Much of it is repeats, but it’s been remixed and given funky music.]
And now, for our first eviction. Many other shows give contestants ages to say their goodbyes, and so on; it’s all very soppy. Not here.
[The Host pulls a lever; a hole opens up under Darth Cliche, who falls out of sight.]
[There is a sound of breaking glass, as the Host dives through the camera run wall, and jumps down the hole after Darth Cliche. Then it closes again.]

Hah, that’s how I’ll escape this bunker! Presumably this has to lead somewhere. Hmm… there isn’t anyone but the contestants in the bunker now, but I rigged all the controls up to my mobile phone. With any luck, nobody’ll notice the difference. (Err, I hope they’ll cut that last bit out of the broadcast. Please?)

Congrats to Bucky for being the only person to guess 0!

Four Contestants failed due to a lack of unique guesses; arthexis, delta, Oze, SingularByte, TAE, and Wakukee failed due to not entering. Therefore, I remove another $100,000 from the Prize Fund; it now stands at $810,001.

Diary entry 01/06 Psychotipath

It is very strange since last I left the kitchen many people have left, and many people are now staring at me menacingly. I think I had better start hiding somewhere until it all dies down Darth cliche appears to be the one responsible but i don’t knoiw what to do about it especially as so many people seem to dislike him already. I only cam ehere to try and make friends.

In other news Rodlen has come into the kitchen and asked me to try and work out how to fit a Cessna into the fridge. I think it might take me a while to sort out but it should be doable.

On that note I’d better go back to solving that problem.
