The Currency Authority has acted just after Proposal: Reset passed.

The situation before acting was:
C = 0.755
L = 3,381
B = 500
BL=0.148
C/BL = 5.103

All relevant values adjusted by 5.103. The New Player’s value is B$ 510.

4-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Reset these game variables:
* Clear the ownership of all squares in the world, so that no squares are owned by a player.
* Set all Players’ BDollars to 100. Set the amount of BDollars to be given a new Player to B$ 100 in the Currency rule.
* Clear all players items.
* Move Go Square to Square # Zero and place all players there. No player shall be considered to have landed or advanced to Go Square due to this move.

If this Proposal passes, Smith shall receive Popularity benefits from it, instead of Chronos Phaenon.

Proposal: New Player Incentive

Vetoed.—Chronos

Adminned at 01 Sep 2005 03:55:48 UTC

Add a rule called New Player Reset:

Whenever a new player joins blognomic, these game variables are reset:

  • The ownership of all squares in the world is cleared, so that no squares are owned by a player.

Proposal: Archemedes!

4-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 11:58:28 UTC

Add a new color “Mt - Metal” to the list of colors.
Color Square 43 the Metal Color, and Name it “The Inventor’s Shop”

Add a sub-rule The Inventor’s Shop to the World rule which reads:

Whenever a player lands in The Inventor’s Shop, e may pay B$ 20 to comission a new piece of Machinery.  Ey then must make a post to the Blog titled “New Machine: Z” where Z is replaced with the name of their machine, and a description of what it does.  The new machine must have an X value of 3 or higher.  Other players may vote FOR or AGAINST the new machine on the blog.  If current quorum distinct AGAINST votes are posted on the entry within 2 days, the Players have revolted and the Machine has been destroyed. Otherwise, the machine is added to the list of machinery available.

Notice: DarkOver

I’m jus expecting DarkOver to manifest eirself here, in accordance to rule 2 - Players, so I can add e to the sidebar and consider eir votes.

Proposal: It would be nice to know…

5-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 07:13:33 UTC

Enact a new subrule of “Currency” entitled “When did that happen?” stating

Whenever the Currency Board adjusts the amount of B$ in existence as described in 10.2 or any other rule, the Currency Board must post a message to the main page stating that an adjustment has taken place, including any relevant details, so that the players of blognomic may be aware of the adjustment.

Sorry I haven’t had any big ideas lately… I’ve been distracted.

Jumping for the Hands

Proposal: Throne Machinery

2-3. Can’t be enacted w/o COV.—Chronos.

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 07:14:02 UTC

In rule World, delete this text:

A player on the Throne square may, provided he has not done so since he most recently moved onto the Throne, become Emperor by posting to the frontpage (http://blognomic.com) with a post entitled “X is Claiming the Throne”, where X is eir name. E then assumes all the powers of Emperorhood until someone else becomes Emperor via the same mechanic, and may not Declare Victory.

Add this to the Machinery list:

* Throne. Only one Throne may exist. If a Throne is installed in a Square, destroy every other Throne in the World. A Player landing in a Square with a Throne may become Emperor by posting to the frontpage (http://blognomic.com) with a post entitled “X is Claiming the Throne”, where X is eir name. E then assumes all the powers of Emperorhood until someone else becomes Emperor via the same mechanics.

Install a Throne in Sq. 11.

Proposal: Victory

5-0. Reached Quorum.—smith

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 06:45:18 UTC

Enact a new rule with the following text:

These are the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty.

If all Squares are Black, then the Robomuffins have wiped out all resitance and the Robomuffin with most B$ has forfilled the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty and may Declare Victory.

If no Squares are Black then the Robomuffins have been banished from the land and the Knight who changed the Color of the last Black Square has forfilled the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty and may Declare Victory.

If all Players have negitive B$, then the Tangelo Smuggler with the most B$ has forfilled the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty and may Declare Victory.

If a Warpjumper has Moved to every Square in the World within a 24 Hour period has forfilled the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty and may Declare Victory.

If all players are Criminals of in Gaol, then the Criminal with the lowest B$ has forfilled the Victory Conditions of this Dynasty and may Declare Victory.

We need players

Our Active Player list is shrinking. Does anyone have any ideas for getting some more players involved?

Proposal: More Popularity

2-3. Could not be enacted without a change of vote.—Smith

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 06:42:57 UTC

Rewrite the Popularity rule, so it reads:

Whenever a proposal passes, the Player who posted it shall be allowed to Advance N Squares, where N is the number of votes FOR the proposal that passes minus the number of AGAINST votes on the proposal that passed. E shall also be allowed to add 1 Color Code (from the list on the Color Code subr-rule) to one Square of eir choosing.

Proposal: Quick Inflation

4-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 29 Aug 2005 13:45:59 UTC

In Currency Value sub-rule, change once every Friday, to often.

Proposal: Often is not often enough

4-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 29 Aug 2005 13:45:48 UTC

In The Yellow Shop sub-rule, delete the word “often”.

This has frozen the game. I guess the 5 items use/day is enough to bar infinity scams.

More Idleness

Excalabur is Idle, as per his request. 75th Trombone, Quazie and ShadowClaw are idle for not having vote since Aug, 22. Quorum falls to 3.

Idle

Can someone mark me as idle?  I’ve been caught up in moving stuff for the last week, and have no idea what’s going on anymore.  I’ll unidle after i’ve had a chance to read the ruleset.

Running for Leader

I want to be leader!

Proposal: Do you smell something burning?

3-1. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 29 Aug 2005 10:26:35 UTC

Add a new subrule named “Tangelo Smuggling”  to rule 13:

If a Player would land on a Red Square they must Smuggle a Tangelo or lose $20 and Advance 1 Square. If a Player moves this way they are not considered to have landed on the Square that they lost $20 dollars at.

Add the following item to the list of items:

Tangelo. Cost: 10$. When used, the Tangelo is considered Smuggled.

If a majority of votes contain the string “Third degree burns are fun!” then also make the following changes:

Create a new Square named Inferno with an Ordinal Number of X.

Add a new Subsubrule to Subrule 13.10 with the following text:

Inferno is not connected with any other part of the World. A Player may not Advance from Inferno.

Add the following text to Subrule 13.10:

If a Player’s B$ becomes negitive this way then e Jumps to Inferno.

Proposal: Property Value

5-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 29 Aug 2005 07:01:58 UTC

In the Property rule, change

A Player in a Square which is not Beige may Acquire that Square, becoming its Owner. To do so, e must spend an amount of B$ equal to X times the number of that Square, where X is equal 1 plus the number of color codes (including White) on that Square. To this purpose, the Square # Zero is considered to have a number 1 unit greater than the last Square in the World.

to

A Player in a Square which is not Beige may Acquire that Square, becoming its Owner. To do so, e must spend an amount of B$ equal to X times the number of that Square, where X is equal 1 plus the number of color codes (including White) on that Square, plus the price of any machinery installed there, as if bought new. To purposes of this rule, the Square # Zero is considered to have a number 1 unit greater than the last Square in the World.

Proposal: Color factory revamp

4-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 29 Aug 2005 07:01:47 UTC

Add to The Color Factory sub rule:

At any time, if there exists a Color Coded listed in the ruleset, except Wh, Bg and Gr, and The Color Factory has not that Color, add that Color to the Color Factory.

At any time, if there is not a Paint Fountain in The Color Factory, install a Paint Fountain there.

Jumping for the hands

Kriss Kross will make ya..

Call for Judgment: Smuggled items.

1-2. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 31 Aug 2005 07:16:37 UTC

Chronos Phareon says that Rodney doesn’t have either of eir Paints, because the same effect that sent Rodney to Gaol also activated the one that toke eir Paints. This doesn’t make much sense, as there are 3 effects. The last one gives the person who sent the Debitor to Gaol half the price of the Debitor’s items. Under Cronos’s interpitation, that would mean that that last one was activated too, but that wouldn’t make any sense under the current rules.

Vote FOR this CFJ if you think that the effects are seperate and didn’t trigger each other.

Vote AGAINST this CFJ if you don’t.

Should this CFJ pass then Rodney’s interpitation shall be considered correct, and eir actions legal.

Proposal: Eureka!

Self-Killed by Jamuraa—Excalabur

Adminned at 28 Aug 2005 06:48:37 UTC

Add a new color “Mt - Metal” to the list of colors.
Color Square 43 the Metal Color, and Name it “The Inventor’s Shop”

Add a sub-rule The Inventor’s Shop to the World rule which reads:

Whenever a player lands in The Inventor’s Shop, e may pay B$ 20 to create a new piece of Machinery.  Ey then must make a post to the Blog titled “New Machine: Z” where Z is replaced with the name of their machine, and a description of what it does.  The new machine must have an X value of 3 or higher.  Other players may vote FOR or AGAINST the new machine on the blog.  If 1/2 current quorum (rounded down) distinct FOR votes are posted on the entry within 2 days, the new Machinery is added to the List of Machinery.

If Proposal: Machinery does not pass, this proposal does nothing.

Proposal: Warp Machine

2-3, timed out, failed by Excalabur

Adminned at 28 Aug 2005 12:30:54 UTC

If Proposal: Machinery didn’t pass, this Proposal does nothing.

Add to the list of available Machinery:

* ‘’‘Warp Machine’‘’: Whenever a player ends a move on a Square with a Warp Machine, e may immediately Jump to any other Square with a Warp Machine. Note that this does not entitle the player to claim benefits for passing intervening squares, such as Go. Whenever a new Square is created whose last digit is 2 or 7, install a Warp Machine on that Square. A Warp Machine may never be installed in the Jackpot Square.

Repeal the Warp Squares sub-rule and install a Warp Machine on Every blue Square, except the Jackpot Square.
Under rule Items, delete:

* Painting any Square with Blue Paint will make that Square a Warp one.

Under rule Jackpot, delete:

or by a Blue Square warp

Under rule Homelands, change

If a Player is loyal to a blue square, e may be referred to as a Warpjumper.

to

If a Player is loyal to a square with a Warp Machine, e may be referred to as a Warpjumper.

It’s less abusable (and a lot more expensive) than using paint to grant access to high numbered/high valued Squares.

Notice: More Idleing

Quazie and ShadowClaw are going idle tomorrow if they don’t vote.

Proposal: Rule the World!

5-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 27 Aug 2005 07:11:32 UTC

Add a rule named “Election”:

A player may atempt to become Leader of eir Clan by making a post to that effect. All Allies of that player may repspond once to the post using the FOR and AGAINST icons. After 48 hours, if there are more FOR responces than AGAINST responces then the Player who made the post shall become Leader of eir Clan, and the old Leader shall cease to be Leader.

This will add an intresting political/bribery aspect to the game.

I’ve edited it so it’s now a proper Proposal. You don’t append “Proposal” to the title anymore. Instead you mark it as a Proposal in the “CATEGORIES” tab in the posting window.—Chronos

Proposal: Slot Machine

3-2. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 27 Aug 2005 07:11:03 UTC

If Proposal: Machinery didn’t pass, this Proposal does nothing.

Add to the list of available Machinery:

* ‘’‘Slot Machine’‘’: Any player who is in a square where a Slot Machine is installed may gamble by commenting in the GNDT with the text: “Come on, lucky X! DICE12” where X is a number from 1 to 12 and transferring B$1 to the Owner of the Square. If the number on the dice roll equals X, e may then transfer B$ 5 from the Owner of the Square to emself. If a Square where a Slot Machine is installed loses the Bg code color, the Slot Machine is destroyed.

Repeal the Gambling sub-rule and install a Slot Machine on the Casino Square.

Proposal: Machinery

3-2. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 27 Aug 2005 07:10:48 UTC

Add a Machinery sub-rule to the World rule:

A Square may be fitted with utilitary Machinery, as listed below. Each Square may hold only one piece of Machinery. Installing a new piece of Machinery in a Square that already has one destroys the Machinery that was previously there.

If a type of Machinery has some kind of use limitation, that limitation applies to all copies of that type of Machinery, even if installed in different Squares.

Unless stated otherwise in the Machinery description, only the owner of a Square may install Machinery in that Square. To install a piece of Machinery in a Square, the player doing so must be located in that Square and Spend an amount of B$ equal to X times the value of that Square, calculated according to rule “Property”, where X is a multiplier given in the Machinery description. If not provided, X shall assume the value of 1.

Currently, these are the Machinery available for installation:

* ‘’‘Glue Trap’‘’. X multiplier = 2. Whenever a player advances through a Square where a Glue Trap is installed, that player must end eir movement in that Square.

* ‘’‘Paint Fountain’‘’. X multiplier = 2. Often, a player in a Square where a Paint Fountain is installed may add a unit of ((Color)) Paint to their Items list. The ((Color)) must be one of the Color Codes of the Square where the fountain being used is installed at.

Proposal: Jackpot review

5-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 11:46:51 UTC

If Proposal: I hit the JACKPOT, Hooray! (also, the loops stop here) passes, delete this text:

No player may use any item to make emself Land in the Jackpot Square.  Warping to the Jackpot Square via a Blue square is not allowed.

Change this phrase in the Jackpot sub-rule:

Whenever a player ends a move in the Jackpot Square, the amount on the Jackpot Pool shall be transfered to that player and the Pool reset to B$ 0.

to:

Whenever a player ends a move in the Jackpot Square, provided that move was not allowed by an item being used or by a Blue Square warp, the amount on the Jackpot Pool shall be transfered to that player and the Pool reset to B$ 0.

This way people can scoot through Sq 13 without hitting Jackpot.

GNDT access

Proposal: Whitewash

5-0. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 09:51:13 UTC

Add to the list of items in Rule 11 - Items:-

Whitewash. Cost $10.  A unit of Whitewash may be used by a Player to remove one of the Color Codes in the Square e is on. That Square has then been Whitewashed. Note: As with Paint, color coding restrictions detailed in rule “World”, and its subsections still apply.

Proposal: I hit the JACKPOT, Hooray! (also, the loops stop here)

4-1. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 09:49:55 UTC

Change the Jackpot sub-rule of the World rule to read:

There is a Jackpot Pool, listed in the in the GNDT as the amount of B$ of the “World” pseudo-player. Whenever a player spends an amount of B$, that amount must be added to the Jackpot Pool.

No player may use any item to make emself Land in the Jackpot Square.  Warping to the Jackpot Square via a Blue square is not allowed.

Whenever a player ends a move in the Jackpot Square, the amount on the Jackpot Pool shall be transfered to that player and the Pool reset to B$ 0.

Also, in an effort to reduce the amount of infinite loops available by, well, infinity, change the following text of the Items rule:

If stated in the item’s description, an item may be “used” by the player owning it and any actions associated with using the item will take place. No more than 5 items may be used in a 24 hour period unless the item description states otherwise. Unless otherwise stated in the item description, using an item causes the player to lose possession of it.

I think the Jackpot should be more of a happy thing, and less of a routine thing. This is my 3rd allowed Proposal due to the square I’m on being Black.

Proposal: Inflation

2-1. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 06:01:52 UTC

Add to rule Currency a sub-rule named Currency Authority:

There is an Entity in the game named The Currency Board which can take actions when allowed so by a rule. When The Currency Board is allowed to act, any of its members can act on its behalf. The current members of the Currency Board are listed in this wiki’s [[Currency Board Roster]] page. Members may be inducted to the Board by the Emperor, which can edit the Roster’s page to reflect so.

Add to rule Currency a sub-rule named Currency Value:

* The total value of all Squares in the World, calculated according to rule “Property” shall be called value “L”.
* The total amount of B$ held by each Player, plus the Jackpot Pool shall be called value “B”.
* The number given when dividing value B by value L (B/L) shall be the BL index.
* The value C, to which B$ value is pegged, shall be equal to 40/N, where N is the number of Squares in the World.

The value (effective purchasing power) of the Blognomic Dollar (B$), as measured by the BL index, shall be pegged to C times the value of all land in the [[World]].

To ensure that, The Currency Board may, once every Friday, choose to adjust the amount of B$ in existence by multiplying the amount of B$ held by each Player and the Jackpot pool (rounding results to the nearest integer, as per normal mathematic rules) by a fixed factor. This fixed factor shall be the result of the division of the value C by the current BL index (C/BL). The amount of B$ granted to a new player, as provided by rule “Currency”, shall also be adjusted by the same factor.

Create a page named “Currency Board Roster” in the Wiki and add the Emperor to it.

Example: Current BL index would be, now, around 1.460, while C would be around 1.905. So, the currency board could adjust the amount of money held by everyone by 1.304.
The “C” part is to allow for inflatable real estate, as per Rodney’s proposal.

Proposal: Scooter loophole

5-1. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 05:59:40 UTC

Add to the description of the Scooter item:

No player may have more than 3 Scooters at a time.

.

If, since the posting of this proposal, a player have had 4 or more Scooters at a given time, move e to Gaol as if they have had been in debt for 4 days, then set eir B$ to -1.

This is to prevent the exploit I just did (and that could have lead to infinitly painting the world.

A little round about

I won’t do it in the GNDT to not spam it:

I advance 5 squares, to Sq 3, due to popularity from Proposal: Go Loophole
I buy 18 Scooters, 6 Servings of Black Paint and 6 Homing Beacons (for a total B$ 360). Set 2 Home Beacons here.
I scoot thru Sqs 4, 5 and 6, spending 3 scooters and paying Smith a total B$ 3 rent.
I scoot thru Sq 7, spending 1 scooter and paying Gazebo Dude B$ 2 rent.
I scoot thru Sq 8, spending 1 scooter and paying Jamuraa B$ 2 rent. I pass Go (earning B$ 20)
I scoot thru my own Sq 9, spending 1 scooter. Set 2 Home Beacons here.
I scoot thru Sq 10, spending 1 scooter. I buy it (B$ 20), I paint its Bg code as Bk. It’s now Bg and Bk.
I scoot thru Sq 11, spending 1 scooter and paying Excalabur B$ 2 rent.
I scoot thru my own Sq 12, spending 1 scooter.
I scoot thru my own Sq 13, spending 1 scooter and hiting Jackpot. Set 2 Home Beacons here.
I scoot thru my own Sq 14, spending 1 scooter. I paint its Bg code as Bk. It’s now Bg and Bk.
I scoot thru Sq 15, spending 1 scooter. I buy it (B$ 30), I paint its Bg code as Bk. It’s now Bg and Bk.
I scoot thru Sq 16, spending 1 scooter. I buy it (B$ 32), I paint its Bg code as Bk. It’s now Bg and Bk.
I scoot thru Sq 17, spending 1 scooter and paying Excalabur B$ 4 rent.
I scoot thru my own Sq 18, spending 1 scooter. I paint its Bg code as Bk. It’s now Bg, Bk and Rd.
I scoot thru Sq 19, spending 1 scooter and paying Excalabur B$ 8 rent. I spend B$ 50 to create Pk - Pink Colour Code.
I scoot thru Sq 0, spending 1 scooter. I buy it (B$ 40), I paint its Bg code as Bk, then as Pk. It’s now Bg, Pk and Bk.
I scoot thru my own Sq 1, spending my last scooter. I paint as Pk. It’s now Bk, Bg, Pk and Yl.
I use a Home beacon to hit Jackpot, then one to go to Sq 9. I use my last Pk Paint there (on the Bg code, of course).
I use one Homing Beacon to return to Sq 2. My only Items now are 3 Homing Beacons, set to Sqs, 2, 9 and 13.

I must give Smith B$ 3, Jamuraa B$ 2, Gazebo B$ 2 and Excalabur B$ 14. I must increase my own B$ by 20 (from Go) and all the Jackpot, which is now Zero.

I see idle people

Cayvie, Cosmologicon, Josh, Paladin and TAE have not voted since Aug.16, so they go Idle. Quorum drops to 5.

“Where did it go” doesn’t work automatically

The rule says “Occasionally the Emperor may make a post entitled ‘Where did it GO’”.. As I didn’t see any post in that way, I’m undoing the Go move did by Excalabur.

To ensure that, The Currency Board may, once every Monday, choose to adjust the amount of B$ in existence by multiplying the amount of B$ held by each Player and the Jackpot pool (rounding results to the nearest integer, as per normal mathematic rules) by a fixed factor. This fixed factor shall be the result of the division of the value C by the current BL index (C/BL). The amount of B$ granted to a new player, as provided by rule “Currency”, shall also be adjusted by the same factor.

Create a page named “Currency Board Roster” in the Wiki and add Chronos and the Emperor to it.

Example: Current BL index would be, now, around 2.294, while C would be around 1.905. So, the currency board could adjust the amount of money held by everyone by 0.830.
The “C” part is to allow for inflatable real estate, as per Rodney’s proposal.

Notice: What happened durring the merge.

To prevent more confusion, here is the text of Dynasty Merge:

Change the Ruleset and Gamestate of this game to the Ruleset and Gamestate of the game at Blognomic.com and merge the two games together.

The Blogspot game’s Gamestate and Ruleset were both set to the Gamestate and Ruleset of this game before the merge. So, nothing happened on this side and the game basicly ended on the other. As there is nothing making Blogspot a part of the Gamestate anyone can go over and enact Rements.

Considering Paladin, Cayvie and Josh have not voted in the last week (at least not on this side of the mirror), I’m considering then Idle for purposes of Admining pending proposals. Therefore, quorum is 6.

On a side note, I couldn’t find how to edit the GNDT in order to add a new Player.

I’ve also edited the World so the value of the Square can be listed there. As that is not regulated by any rule, consider it an unnoficial information.

Updated to change to ‘veto’ rather than fail

Adminned at 23 Aug 2005 10:52:40 UTC

Add a rule “Groups” with the following wording:

If a Player owns two or more Squares with consecutive numbers, and those Squares have at least one Colour (except Beige) in common, that player may choose to make those Squares into a Group, at a cost of B$5 per Square..  This new Group may then be named by the Player.  No two Groups may have the same name.

Squares may be added to a Group at any time, unless another Rule prohibits it, for the same cost.

Squares may be removed from a Group at any time unless another Rule prohibits it.  This action refunds B$3.

Groups are tracked in the World, next to the Square listing.

Add the following text to rule 13.7.1 “Rent”:

If the Square is part of a Group, the rent is multiplied by the number of Squares in the Group.

And before someone complains about there being no colour green in the ruleset: Add the colour Green, with code Gn, to rule 13.1 “Colour Coding”.

Name Square 19 “The Color Factory”, and color it Bk, Gr,  Bl, Rd and Yl. If there is a Gd color code, add it also to Square 19.

Add to sub-rule Color Coding:

When a player lands in The Color Factory, e may spend B$ 50 to make a Post which creates a new Color Code. That Post must describe the new color code’s name, which must be a word or expression usually adopted in the English language to describe a color. That Post must also list the new two-letter representation of the new color code. The new two-letter representation must not be one already in use for other color codes. The Color Factory square immediately gains the new color code. A color code so created may be immediately used, even if not yet added to the list of colors in the Ruleset, and any Admin may add the new color to that list. Upon creating a new color code in The Color Factory, the player doing so gains 3 units of Paint in the new color.

Often, a Player may choose to take a Turn.

Proposal: Inflatable Jousting Ring

1-6, cannot be enacted w/o CoV—Excalabur

Adminned at 20 Aug 2005 16:55:10 UTC

Colour square 10 grey, and name it ‘Inflatable Jousting Ring’.

Change the following sentence in Homelands from

If a Player is Loyal to Throne or Inflatable Jousting Ring, then e may be refered to as a Knight.  All Knights are Allies of each other.

Move the last paragraph of World to a sub-rule entitled ‘the Empire’, and add the following text to it:

Any player in the Inflatable Jousting Ring may add a Pointed Stick to eir Items list, so long as ey don’t have one.  Pointed Sticks cannot be used in the normal manner so long as a player is located in the Inflatable Jousting Ring.

However,  any player located in the Jousting Ring may challenge another player to Joust at any time by posting a challenge to the frontpage, so long as the other player is located at the Inflatable Jousting Ring at the time of the challenge.  The challenged player must respond to the challenge with either an acceptance or refusal to Joust.  If ey refuse, ey must transfer $10 to the challenger and $10 to the Emperor.  The Emperor may respond to either the challenge or the acceptance of a challenge with a post containing a positive integer less than 5 (known as P), with greater numbers being issued for more impressive use of the english language in the post in question, notably for use of suitably insulting, yet poetic language, and boating of prowess in the Jousting Ring.

Any other player may respond to either the challenge or the acceptance thereof (but not both) with a declaration of support for the poster in question.  The total number of posts supporting each player shall be their respective values of ‘S’.

After 24 hours, each player rolls DICE(4+P+S). If a player does not roll within 24 hours, any player may roll on eir behalf, with the first such post considered to be the definiative roll.  The player who rolled greater shall be the victor, and the lessor shall be the loser.  If the rolls are equal, then the DICE shall be re-rolled using DICE(3+P+S), and so on, until the tie is broken.

The loser shall transfer $10 x the difference in scores to the victor.  Each player that supported the loser must have eir dollars reduced by $3 times the number of supporters of the victor, and each player that supported the victor must increase eir dollars by $3 times the number of supporters of the loser.  If a Knight is victorious in the Joust, then eir name shall be listed in Small Caps in the sidebar to reflect eir service to the throne until such time as another Knight jousts in the ring.

A player that participated in a Joust at the Inflatable Jousting Ring loses all of eir Pointed Sticks upon leaving the Inflatable Jousting Ring.

A unit of Paint may be used by a Player to change one of the Color Codes in the Square e is on to the color of the Paint. That Square has then been Painted that color. Note: Color coding restrictions detailed in rule 14 - World, and its subsections still apply. For example:
** Painting a Gray Square with XXX Paint will work this way: The Gray color code becomes XXX. Then, as the Square is still listed by name in some rule, it will gain the Gray color code again - and will be now both XXX and Gray.
** Painting any Square with Blue Paint will make that Square a Warp one.

If a Player on the last sequential Square Advances, that Player immediately Moves to the first sequential Square. A player is considered to have Landed in the Square e finishes eir Movement in.

Whenever an event happens that allows a player to move (eg. a rule says “If/When X happens, player Y is allowed to move), that player can only do so within 24 hours of the event happening. If 24 hours elapses of the event happening, the player loses the right to move granted by that event.

Whenever an event happens that obliges a player to move (eg. a rule says “If/When X happens, player Y shall move), any player may enforce that move.

Whenever many events happen that allows or oblige a player to move (eg. there are rules that say “If/When X happens, player Y is allowed to move” and “If/When Z happens, player Y is allowed to move”. X happens, then Z happens before Y has moved due to X), that player has to make the moves in the same order they were allowed or obliged. A play may “discard” (not use) a move he is allowed. A player may never discard a move he is obliged to do.

Whenever a player is allowed by a rule to Advance a number of Squares, that player is not considered to have landed in any Squares in-between the Square he was before moving and the Square he will be after moving. The player is considered to have Advanced through the in-between Squares, though. When a Player Jumps, e is not considered to have Advanced through any in-between Squares.

Scooter.  Cost: $10.  A scooter may be used to allow a player to advance one square.

Homing beacon.  Cost: $20.  A homing beacon may be set at any time, and upon doing so, the number of the owner’s current square shall be appended to the name of the beacon.  A beacon, once set, cannot be set again.  After being set, the beacon may be used at any time to allow the owner to Jump to the square it was set at.

Pointed Stick.  Cost: $10.  A pointed stick may be used by a player on an Enemy player located at the same square.  The player using the pointed stick may transfer $20 from the Enemy player to eirself.  A player may not posses more than one pointed stick at a time.

I reckon that’s a decent start..  Remember that Items disappear when used.

Players may have Paint, which must be specified in eir Items field as ((Color)) Paint, where ((Color)) is the color code of that Player’s Homeland Square at the time the Paint is purchased. A single use of Paint may be purchased at any time at a cost of B$10.  When a Player occupies a Square, e may use a Paint e has to change one color code of the Square e is on to the color of the Paint, which is then removed from eir Items list. That Square has then been Painted that color. Painted Squares may override the normal color coding restrictions detailed in rule 14 - World, and its subsections (for example, grey squares stay painted, warp squares may be painted, etc.).

Note: Edited the brackets to parenthesis, since using brackets (either single or double) is part of the wiki syntax.—Chronos
Edited the title to look right—Excalabur

Proposal: Homeland benefits

7-0.  Reached quorum.  Enacted by Excalabur.

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 22:09:21 UTC

Add the following to the rule ‘homelands’

A player located in eir homeland may choose not to move from that square, even if they would be compelled to so due to some other rule.  This movement cannot later be taken.

Also, throughout the ruleset, save in the glossary, replace ‘once per week’ and ‘weekly’ with ‘occasionally’ and ‘once per day’ or ‘daily’ with ‘often’.

Proposal: Clanhood

6-1.  Reaches Quorum.—Excalabur

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 22:06:19 UTC

Enact a new rule entitled “Clanhood” stating

A maximal set of players who are allied to each other under rule “Homelands” is called a Clan. The players in the clan are called clan members. The size of a clan is the number of members it contains. Other rules may describe how members of a clan may name eir clan, select a leader for eir clan, track in the GNDT any relevant data, and make war or peace with other clans.

Proposal: Proper Manners

1-7.  Cannot be enacted w/o CoV.—Excalabur

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 22:03:10 UTC

Be it enacted, a new rule “Proper Manners” that states

All proposals made by a player other than the Emperor must begin with the text “Your Royal Highness, I humbly beseech thee”. Failure to do so constitutes an Infraction of Improper Manners, to be punished by the Emperor, who shall hereby and forthwith remove 50 B$ from the guilty party and transfer it to emself. Further, the Emperor is encouraged (but by no means required) to veto said proposal.

Proposal: Different dice for Hand-Jumping

Reaches quorum 7-0—Excalabur

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 22:00:46 UTC

To make hand-jumping less brain-intensive.. and make it PnP-esque.

In ‘those crazy hands’, change ‘DICE roll MINUS 1’ to ‘DICE roll, counting 60 as 00’.

Proposal: Black-Out

6-1. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 16:30:49 UTC

Add a sub-rule named Black-Out to 14 - World:

Whenever a player is in a Black (Bk) Square, that player can post one more pending than the values liste in rule 3. Any extra proposals made this way remain legal even if the player leaves the Black Square.

Name Square 9 “Fresh Brain Zone” and colour it Black.

Proposal: Proposal #948-48-331

6-0 (Deferentials defer to Gazebo Dude’s newly found powers). Reached Quorum—Chronos

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 08:49:55 UTC

If “Warp On Blue” passes, make “Jackpot” a sub-rule of “World.” Further, if “Teams” also passes, append the following sentence to “Homelands”: If a Player is loyal to a blue square, e may be referred to as a Warpjumper.

gazebo_dude is Claiming the Throne

Cause I’m on the Throne. w00t

Proposal: Warp on blue

6-0. Reached Quorum—Chronos

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 08:50:30 UTC

Colour squares 2, 7, 12 and 17 Blue.
Create a sub-rule to World entitled ‘Warp Squares’, with the text

Whenever a player ends a move on a Blue square, e may immediately Jump to any other blue square. Note that this does not entitle the player to claim benefits for passing intervening squares, such as Go

Move “Pass Go” and “Colour Coding” to be sub-rules of World.
Sub-rules are now really easy to make, administratively…

Jumping for the hands!

Ja, ja, I is.

Proposal: Teams.

6-0. Reached Quorum—Chronos

Adminned at 15 Aug 2005 08:49:28 UTC

Enacted a new rule titled: “Homelands” with the following text:

Each Player is Loyal to a Square, the Square that e is Loyal to is eir Homeland. This is tracked in the GNDT under the field called “Homeland”. Once per week, a Player may set eir Homeland to a Square of eir choice.

If two Players’s Homelands share a color other than Gray, then they are Allies of each other, otherwise they are Enemies of each other.

If a Player is Loyal to Throne, then e may be refered to as a Knight. If a Player is Loyal to Scrap Brain Zone then they may be refered to as a Robomuffin.

Name Square 17 “Scrap Brain Zone” and color it Black.

The idea here is to have players form teams that can fight each other. This also gives us Knights to fight in the Inflatable Jousting Ring and Robomuffins to go around and attack people. We need to find a good combat mechinic though.

Proposal: Abort On Switch

6-1. Reached Quorum (1 Abstention).—Chronos

Adminned at 14 Aug 2005 16:08:46 UTC

WHEREAS, In order to safeguard an orderly and smooth transition of the game during the switch;
Be it enacted, A new rule entitled “An Ultra Uber-Hiatus” containing the text

If the game at blognomic.blogspot.com is won before this dynasty, this dynasty shall be aborted with no winner so that the switch may take place. If this dynasty is won while the game at blognomic.blogspot.com continues, this game shall remain in hiatus until the switch is completed: no Ascension Address may be made.

Switch thoughts

Now that we’ve got the GNDT, are we pretty much ready to move the actual game over?

Does anyone have any issues that need resolving before we make such a proposal on the real game?

Throw feedback here.

GNDT goodness

Witness the sidebar.  Click on the sidebar.  Say ‘ooooh’.

Admins: until someone knocks something together, you have to edit the .dat file (which has player names/pws, and the variables) via shell access.  Contact Excalabur or 75th Trombone (or someone who has done so) for details and the password.

We are now taking submissions for graphics for the GNDT…

Also, since Kevan Davis is The Man, we are allowed to modify the GNDT source. This means we can modify it for nefarious purposes, like automatically updating variables (daily increases, e.g.) or the State Of the Republic from Aaron’s Dynasty.  Just respect the fact that this is Kevan’s code, and we’re cool.

Proposal: The GNDT disapproves of cheating.

6-1. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 14 Aug 2005 16:09:12 UTC

Now that we have a proper GNDT, let’s do this.

Amend the first paragraph of the rule “Those Crazy Hands” from

As long as no one else has done so within the past 24 hours a player may make a post entitled ‘Jumping for the hands’. Within the next 24 hours every other player may make a comment to said post of ‘Me Too’. If either digit in the seconds part of the time stamp of the comment matches a digit in the seconds part of the post itself that player successfully jumps on the hand. If the seconds match exactly then the player who posted the entry is shoved off of the hands.

to

As long as no one else has done so within the past 24 hours a player may make a post entitled ‘Jumping for the hands’. Within the next 24 hours every other player may make a comment to the GNDT containing the text ‘Me Too! DICE60’. (It may also contain text clarifying whose post it responds to.)  The seconds part of the original post is then compared to the dice roll MINUS 1.  If the two numbers share at least one digit (regardless of place), the player who rolled the DICE successfully jumps on the hand. If the two numbers match exactly then the player who posted the entry is shoved off of the hands.

Proposal: Color Coding

7-1. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 14 Aug 2005 16:07:37 UTC

Add a rule named Color Coding:

Squares may be color coded with one or more colors. Each color code shall be represented in the [[Word]] besides the name of the Squares by two letters.

At any time, if a Square has no color code, it gains the White color code. At any time, if a White Square gains another color code, it loses the White color.

If a Square is mentioned by name in a rule, that square gains the Gray color code. If a Gray Square is not mentioned by name in any rule, it loses the Gray color code.

Currently, the possible color codes are:
* Bk - Black
* Gr - Gray
* Wh - White
* Bl - Blue
* Rd - Red
* Yl - Yellow

Give squares “Go”, “Jackpot” and “Throne” a Gray color code. Give all other squares a White color code.

Proposal: Better Advancing

2-3, times out.  Failed by Excalabur

Adminned at 14 Aug 2005 15:35:59 UTC

To rule 14 - The World, add:

Rewrite rule 15 to:

When a proposal passes the player who made the proposal may Advance exactly N squares, where N is the number of votes FOR the proposal that passes minus the number of AGAINST votes on the proposal that passed.

Proposal: Rule Titles

Reached quorum 6-0. —Excalabur

Adminned at 13 Aug 2005 15:16:45 UTC

WHEREAS, Every rule should have a title, and

WHEREAS, Rules 13 and 15 currently have no title;

Be it enacted, That Rule 13 be entitled “Theme” and Rule 15 be entitled “Popularity”.

Just thought it could use a little touching up…

Member Group

I just noticed that my member group is set to “BlogNomic Idle” instead of “BlogNomic Member”. Does it make any difference? The only other user in there is Call for Judgment.

GNDT!!

Kevan, being The Man, sent me the GNDT source this morning.  At the moment it is available here.  Folks with shell/FTP access, it’s in the obvious directory.  Those who want shell/FTP access, contact me, Excalabur, or whoever else Excalabur has gotten around to giving the info to.  :)

Incidentally…

Someone said something about the timestamps not actually being UTC.  They appear to be UTC on my machine… ...are they still wrong for anybody?

Proposal: Lexicographing

8-0. Reached Quorum, and them some.—Chronos

Adminned at 12 Aug 2005 13:49:07 UTC

Add a new rule called “Lexicography” and reading as follows:

When any change is made to the Glossary of the BlogNomic game at BlogSpot, any admin may duplicate that change on the Glossary here.

Jumping for the hands

...and suddenly everybody jumps for the hands!

It is better to ask forgiveness than permission

I added voting buttons to the post template for convenience. I’d like to make other template changes, but I will use the normal nomic procedure to get them approved.

Proposal: Pass Go

6-3. Reached Quorum—Chronos

Adminned at 12 Aug 2005 13:52:45 UTC

Add a rule Pass Go:

Whenever a player Advances to the Go Square, (either ending a move there or not) the amount of B$ held by that player must be increased by B$ 20.

Proposal: Jackpot

7-2. Reached Quorum.—Chronos

Adminned at 12 Aug 2005 13:46:17 UTC

Add a rule Jackpot Pool:
There is a Jackpot Pool, listed in the [[World]] as an amount of B$ besides the Square named Jackpot. Whenever a player spends an amount of B$, that amount must be added to the Jackpot Pool.

Whenever a player ends a move in the Jackpot Square, the amount on the Jackpot Pool shall be transfered to that player and the Pool reset to B$ 0.

Name Square 13 Jackpot. Set the Jackpot Pool to B$ 100.

Proposal: Time for some nomic zaniness

1-7 - Cannot be enacted without CoV—Chronos

Adminned at 12 Aug 2005 13:45:11 UTC

Name square number 14 “Chalkboard”.  Create a “Chalkboard” category, which Prepends the word ‘chalkboard’ to the post, and has a black square with a white border as its icon. Testing out our capacity for new things

Add the following text to the rule “World”, typeset with a grey background.

A player who is located at the Chalkboard may, provided e has not done so since e most recently moved onto the Chalkboard, may add one word to the ruleset at anywhere that is not typeset with a grey background—notably, the Core Ruleset, the Glossary, and this rule.  E may do so by posting to the frontpage with a post in the “Chalkboard” category, with the rule name that E wishes to change in the title, and the change e wishes to be made detailed in the body of the post, and the alteration comes into effect immediately.  Anyone with access to the ruleset may then update the ruleset to reflect the change.

Proposal: Imperials?

6-3, reached quorum.  Enacted by Excalabur.

Adminned at 12 Aug 2005 13:19:52 UTC

Name square number 11 “Throne”.

Add the following text to the rule ‘World’

A player on the Throne square may, provided he has not done so since he most recently moved onto the Throne, become Emperor by posting to the frontpage with a post entitled “X is Claiming the Throne”, where X is eir name.  Ey then assume all the powers of Emperorhood until someone else becomes Emperor via the same mechanic, and may not Declare Victory.

Proposal: Give me a hand

Passed 6-1 (Reached Quorum). Quazie is allowed to Advance up to 5 Squares.—Chronos

Adminned at 11 Aug 2005 15:53:47 UTC

Create a new rule entitled those crazy hands

As long as no one else has done so within the past 24 hours a player may make a post entitled ‘Jumping for the hands’.  Within the next 24 hours every other player may make a comment to said post of ‘Me Too’.  If either digit in the seconds part of the time stamp of the comment matches a digit in the seconds part of the post itself that player successfully jumps on the hand.  If the seconds match exactly then the player who posted the entry is shoved off of the hands.

At the end of 24 hours every player on the hands shall advance a number of spaces that is equal to the number of seconds of the original post divided by the number of players on the hands.

Notice: Idlelatry

Josh, Cayvie and Noah went idle for not voting in a week. I’ve added Knightking to the sidebar. Quorum is 5.

I guess it’d be nice to have a “Notice” category added to the Categories list.

Proposal: Dice

3-5.  Times out, fails.—Excalabur

Adminned at 11 Aug 2005 05:45:17 UTC

If there is not a rule named World, this rule does nothing.

Add a rule, named Moving:

Whenever a Player takes a Turn, e must roll DICE6 twice and Advance a number of Squares equal to the sum of the results of those rolls. If both rolls show the same number, that is called a Double, and that Player must immediately take another Turn.

Once a day, if e has not done so in the last 6 hours, a Player may choose to take a Turn.

Proposal: World

5-0.  Reached Quorum—Excalabur

Adminned at 10 Aug 2005 18:45:22 UTC

Add a rule, named World:

The World consists of a collection of numbered, ordered Squares. A Square may receive a name, besides its ordinal number. Squares are listed in the Wiki, in a page named World, which is part of the Gamestate.

Each Player occupies exactly one Square, which is tracked by the GNDT. There is no limit to the number of Players that may occupy the same Square. Players can Move from one Square to another, whenever a rule allows em to. A Move from one Square to the next sequential Square shall be known as Advancing; all other Moves are Jumps. If a Player on the last sequential Square Advances, that Player immediately Moves to the first sequential Square.

Create a Wiki page named World, listing 20 squares, numbered from 0 to 19. Give the Square 0 the name “Go”.

Create a GNDT field Square, and give it the value of 0 for all players.

If two or more Players actively disagree as to the interpretation of the Ruleset, or if a Player feels that an aspect of the game needs urgent attention, then any Player may raise a Call for Judgment by posting an anonymous entry (by placing the posting in the ‘Call for Judgment’ category) which begins with the paragraph “Call for Judgment” in bold text, and goes on to describe the issue, and measures that should be taken to resolve it.

Proposal: Player fix, with built-in test functionality

Passed 7-0. —75th Trombone

Adminned at 08 Aug 2005 15:35:50 UTC

Change the first two paragraphs of the rule “Players” from

Anybody may apply to join BlogNomic (if e is not already playing) by contacting any of the Admin Staff, specifying the name e wishes to use in the game and the URL or email address e wants eir name to link to in the Player roster. The Admin may choose to approve or reject this application; if it is approved, the applicant will be signed up as a Member of the BlogNomic weblog, and will be considered a Player from the moment that e first appears on the roster in the sidebar.

A Player may change eir name or eir sidebar link, or leave the game, at any time, by posting an entry to the BlogNomic weblog requesting such action.

to

Anybody may apply to join BlogNomic (if e is not already playing) by registering at http://blognomic.com via the Register link in the sidebar, and then making a post announcing eir arrival.  An Admin will add em to the roster in the sidebar, at which moment e becomes a Player.

A Player may change eir name or eir sidebar link by editing eir blognomic.com profile.  E may leave the game by posting an entry to the BlogNomic weblog requesting such action.

If there’s one thing I love…

Ahhhh, pointless administration

I’ve created a pseduoGNDT on the wiki

at http://blognomic.com/wiki/index.php?title=Pseudo-GNDT for use until we can get a GNDT set up.  it’s a kludge, but it’ll do.

note that once we don’t have two games in parallel anymore, this won’t be an issue.

Quick Request

Could you create an “Idle Blognomic Members” group?  If we have EE track active/inactive for us, we can automatically generate the active players/idle players list and quorum rather than manually maintaining it.

Technical Update II

I think/hope I actually got the emoticon-only posting bug fixed this time.  Experiment here.

Proposal: Hoping to resolve any disagreement

Passed 6-0. —75th Trombone—on 6 Aug at 22:53 GMT

Actually 7-0—Excalabur

Adminned at 07 Aug 2005 10:38:40 UTC

Make retroactively legal the changes that Excalabur made to the Ruleset earlier, as mentioned in the post, The ruleset has been moved.

Proposal: Metaantiproposal

Timed out, 1-5. —75th Trombone on 6 aug at 22:22 GMT
Actually 2-5—Excalabur

Adminned at 07 Aug 2005 10:38:10 UTC

If “Theme Anyone?” passed, deduct B$20 from 75th Trombone’s total for carelessly changing the core ruleset without properly notifying players.

If more than half the votes on this proposal are accompanied by the text “Revert,” change the first paragraph of Rule 3 to read

Any Disciple may propose a change to the Ruleset or gamestate by posting an entry with the subject “Proposal : [Title]” (where [Title] is a title of eir choosing), and describes the changes e wishs to be made.

Two technical updates

One, posts that have been administrated will automatically show the time they were last edited.  Should this time be GMT or localized? I could have it display the last editor, too, but if someone comes along and changes a typo, that’ll be misleading.  So I think we should still sign the Admin field with our names.

Two, the “Can’t-vote-without-text” issue should be fixed.  The problem was that I had already voted with nothing but a checkbox, and EE denies duplicate data by default as a spam prevention measure.

Post here with input on either issue.  :)

Thursday, August 04, 2005

Now that we’ve started…

Everyone should probably skim over the Switch Guidebook for things that are pertinent to them.

In particular, we do NOT type “Proposal” before proposals’ titles anymore. Instead we put them in the proposal category, which does this for us. This is also how they appear in the sidebar. Any post not in the “Proposal” category is NOT, in fact, a Proposal. :)

Proposal: A Theme, Sort of.

Timed out 5-2
Excalabur

Adminned at 05 Aug 2005 19:45:47 UTC

Enact a new rule with the text:

This is the Alternate Universe Dynasty, also known as the Zeroth Dynasty of the Switch. In this Universe, Simon never declared victory during the Muffin Dynasty so the RoboMuffins toke over the world and the Hands went out of control, causing loopholes everywhere. Because of this, the theme for this Dynasty is “If it’s not broke, fix it anyway.”

I thought that we should have a theme and as this appears to be going to be a rather themeless/insane dynasty I thought we should have references to a themeless/insane dynasty.

Proposal: Theme anyone?

5-3.  Timed out.  Excalabur

Add a rule named Currency

Each player can hold an amount of Blognomic Dollar (B$), which is tracked by the GNDT. This amount can be negative. A new player starts with B$ 100.

Add a rule named Items

An item is any object that a player may possess. There is no limit to how many items a player may have at any time. Items are tracked by the GNDT as a comma separated list.

If stated in the item’s description, an item may be “used” by the player owning it and any actions associated with using the item will take place. Unless otherwise stated in the item description, using an item causes the player to lose possession of it.

Currently there are no legal items a player can possess.

Give each player B$ 100.

Emperor/Theme

Is there a theme to be seen in this pseudodynasty, or is it just pure freestyle?

Adminned at 04 Aug 2005 04:16:57 UTC

Let there exist a GNDT field, once we have a GNDT set up for this game, named ‘Fixes’.

Add a rule to the ruleset, entitled ‘Good Samaritans’, with the text:

Whenever a proposal amends the core ruleset in some way, each FOR vote may optionally be accompanied by the word ‘Fix’; and if the majority of the votes on the proposal do so, then the Fixes of the proposer is increased by one

In order to vote on this proposal, you must type out the vote names, for the nonce.  i.e. FOR or AGAINST surrounded by colons: viz for against etc. Note that there is currently no emperor, so DEFERENTIAL is kinda pointless

Wednesday, August 03, 2005

The ruleset has been moved

For this beta-test dynasty I have copied over the rules from kevan’s wiki onto the blognomic.com webspace

I changed a few references so that, for instance, proposals had to be made here.  As the game has commenced, if you have any objections, call for judgment.

I also changed the words to “player” and “emperor”.  Propose something else, if you like.

And since the game has started, anyone feel free to propose a new stylesheet/colour scheme.  please!
