Declaration of Victory: Declaration of Victory
Failed, 2-10. -Elias IX

I have been eagerly waiting for Captain’s Declaration of Victory. If you’ll forgive the non-spivak pronoun, he has been an inspiration to me. He has challenged the ruleset on all fronts, coming up with delightful scams and even exploring some of the long standing holes in the ruleset, such as our lack of provisions for naming conflicts. This has been good for blognomic! We need to re-examine what we take for granted in the core ruleset from time to time. And that is not the limit of Captain’s generosity to us! He has shown us that there is more to the game than the ruleset itself, there is the social meta-game: confusing posts, ominous threats and deceptions off all kinds can extend the game in ways some of you may have never thought of. But not me. You see, I’ve learned from the master.
This Declaration of Victory is the culmination my careful study. I think it shows clever social engineering, a challenge to our traditions and a very creative reading of the ruleset. I feel that sums up Captain’s role here at Blognomic, and I hope you now find that I have held that role as well. I know that it may not have been evident three days ago, but that was my deception: luring you into a false sense of security. I may or may not continue to hold this role into the next Dynasty. See, you never know what I might do.
If Captain’s DoV is legitimate, I certainly hope you think mine is as well, and in the spirit of continuing in my role of ‘Captain’ I ask that you give priority in your voting to my DoV, or else something terrible will happen to the gamestate.

Comments
Elias IX:
The last paragraph of your DoV is beautiful, especially in use of rhetoric. Not only does it appeal to pathos, but it makes great use of irony as well.
Bucky:
Assuming your stated interpretations are correct:
I think this is an incomplete DoV. The “clever social engineering, a challenge to our traditions and a very creative reading of the ruleset” was only a very small part of my role. I have also been scuttling hostile proposals, giving out a Voter Test and moving Captain around, among others.
In the meantime, you were too busy studying my posts to bother with the more mundane bits of my role as Captain. Your victory condition was therefore incomplete and thus this declaration based upon it is invalid.
and may Hell Freeze Over should my DOV fail.
smith:
You are entitled to your opinion as to what your role has been here, as is everybody else.
Bucky:
Your study was obviously not thorough enough, or else you would have a plausable threat instead of “something terrible will happen to the gamestate.”
Elias IX:
Eh, it’s not Method acting, so I suppose it’s fine.
Bucky:
I could also write an essay contrasting our styles, but I won’t. I’ll just say that they were too different to make me beleive he had made a thorough study of my posts.
Angry Grasshopper:
>This Declaration of Victory is the culmination my careful study.
Oh, the irony!
Shadowclaw:
Angry Grasshopper:
But have you held the role of ‘Captain’ for three whole days, mm?
The Lone Amigo:
Twisted reasoning. I like it.
Josh:
Purplebeard:
Brilliant.
Kevan:
Fantastic conceptually, though.
Hix:
Hix:
Hmmm. CoV
. Upon reflection, I find this to be a legal DoV.
Rodney:
smith:
The Lone Amigo:
CoV
predisastered:
Angry Grasshopper:
I don’t think that you had Captain’s role for three time at the days you posted this, either as the Captain of the Bloody Inquisitor, or the role of Captain the player. Now, if you had exhibited some creative gameplay before you posted this..
