Double or nothing

Replace the text:

Each Dynasty is headed by a single Apprentice, known as the Artisan, and is named according to the number of Dynasties he has headed (eg. “The First Dynasty of Myke”).

in rule 1.8 Dynasties with:

Each Dynasty is headed by one or more Apprentices, known as the Artisan, and is named according to the number of Dynasties they have headed (eg. “The First Dynasty of Myke”).

And replace the text:

If a Apprentice (other than the Artisan) believes that he has achieved victory in the current Dynasty, he may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this.

Upon doing so, the game immediately goes into Hiatus, if it hasn’t already. During this time, the only game actions that may be taken are those covered by Rules “Apprentices”, “Voting”, “Calls for Judgment”, “Gamestate Tracking” and “Victory and Ascension”.

Every Apprentice may respond to an active DoV saying whether or not he believes the poster has achieved victory in the current Dynasty (using the FOR and AGAINST icons).

The Declaration of Victory may be resolved after 24 hours, or after 12 hours if the Artisan has voted on it. Upon resolution, if a Quorum of Apprentices have voted on the DoV and more than half of those votes were in favour, then the DoV passes - otherwise the DoV fails, and if no other DoVs are still pending, the Hiatus ends.

When a DoV passes, all other active DoVs are failed, and a new Dynasty begins with the Apprentice who made the DoV as its Artisan.

in 1.9 Victory and Ascension with:

If a Apprentice (other than a member of the Artisan) believes that he has achieved victory in the current Dynasty, he may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this.

When a DoV passes, all other active DoVs are failed, and a new Dynasty begins with the Apprentice who made the DoV, and his partner, as its Artisan.

They would both have veto power? I don’t know… seems potentially game-breaking.

Not a proposal.

Ups. Thought I saved that, not posted it.
It is not even in the proposal category, can I change that now. or do I re-post it.

Re-post. You can’t change it after there have been comments posted.

Partners will more than likely be removed in the next dynasty anyway - they’re a dynastic rule.

Actually, do some more editing first. As written, it’s not clear that they would EACH get a veto, or that they would SHARE a veto… meaning that they’d have to concur.

Klisz:

I’d say don’t even repropose, as it makes the core rules rely on a dynastic rule...

Out of idle curiousity…

Could he do it differently? Would there be a way to word a dynastic rule so as to allow for a dual-“Emperorship” without modifying the core rules?

Klisz:

03-12-2009 19:06:43 UTC

Yes. More specific rules always implicitly take precedence over less specific ones, so if a dynastic rule said “During this dynasty, Such-And-Such and So-And-So are both considered to be Emperors” it would take precedence over 1.8.

against Remember how we almost had triads after my Dynasty? Just seemed like a bad idea in the end.

So just wondering, when I try to save a draft of a proposal (Since this is the first renderings of an idea of a proposal, and I just wanted to save it for later because my internet connection was funky) the “Quick Save” feature saves the draft to the blog?

tecslicer: you can save them without posting, but i forget how.  It also interacts oddly with the timestamp.

You’re generally better off editing and so on offline, and then copy-and-pasting into the webform.

Yeah I tried that but I have only the most tenuous connection at home, so I would have to transport it to work, and the work compies are stupid. I will figure it out somehow, but it is nice to know what that buttons does now.

against even though it isn’t a proposal, unless the dynasty was very carefully designed so that multiple people in charge made sense. (Perhaps we could have a “Dynasty Fight!” dynasty some day, where we have two Artisans each trying to establish a completely different theme for the dynasty, who have to both veto a proposal before it counts as vetoed.)

tecslicer:

04-12-2009 16:47:25 UTC

Yeah that was the idea. I was thinking of a borg type hive mind, where they only count as the artisan when they work together, and when they don’t they are just players. IDK like I said I was writing the idea down so I could nosh on it mentally later.

<snark> generally we use “emperor” to refer to the role of the person in charge when not specifically refering to the current one. </snark>
