The Traitor in Your Midst
The Traitor special case rule was active in this last dynasty. To be specific, Kevan was selected as our designated traitor.

Oh, I guess I suspected at one point, when he threatened to break a mutual agreement we had going. Makes more sense with that in mind!
hmm, thinking about the traitor rule in general, we wouldn’t know this secret information if the emperor leaves before the dynasty is over. it could potentially be a trust issue later on if a traitor was part of an alliance, wins and says they’re the traitor but the emperor isn’t there to back them up.
The Traitor doesn’t have any special ruleset powers, though, they’re just encouraged to lie and betray, which anyone can legally do.
And yes, didn’t manage to engineer any good opportunities in the dynasty, partly through a (perfectly fair) late assignment by Derrick. A few white lies towards the end when negotiating mantle passes, but no opportunities arose - I would have completely betrayed TyGuy if they’d accepted the mantle offer I made when Ienpw proposed a Kevan/Ienpw food-off.
July 18th, two weeks after the Traitor rule was enacted. But it was intentional that this might happen - if selection was forced or encouraged to be immediate, then we’d be able to trust all new and unidling players.
How paranoid were people being about Traitors, towards the end? (I obviously wasn’t feeling it because I could trust everyone, or at least trust them as much as you could in any other dynasty.) It surprised me to see so much mantle-passing negotiation happening, when a traitorous mantle passer would have kept the win.
Wait, how much negotiating were you doing? I didn’t see any of it!
With most of the players who were still in the running at the end, and a couple of them were talking about counter-negotiations with other players.
TyGuy6:
Wow, I wouldn’t have guessed! Not much opportunity for betrayal, I suppose.
