Proposal: Modest Proposals

Enact a new rule, “Proposal Bonus”:-

At any time, a Shifter may gain 2 Cover if they have posted a proposal in the previous 24 hours, and if they have not already claimed 2 Cover in this way previously in the dynasty. If every Shifter has claimed Cover in this way, any Shifter may repeal this rule.

In the past week we’ve had just two proposals from a player who isn’t the Forest. We’re barely playing Nomic at this point, so here’s a gentle nudge to encourage some noise.

Would be particularly interested why our new players haven’t been posting proposals, in case we’re presenting something badly. Are you following the lead of veteran players, afraid of making mistakes, less interested in that side of the game, just busy, or something else?

imperial  I have been busy, and a bit dry on mechanics ideas. I don’t love the grindy nature of this, but we can always repeal it.

It’s two points per player per dynasty; worst case we just end up with seven quick, bad proposals. But this was as much to start a discussion as to enact a rule.

Players less interested in gamebuilding should always consider the basic Nomic strategy of “propose a change that benefits just over half of the players, including you”. Do this successfully with two different groups and you’ll end up with an advantage over everyone.
