The Darkness Rises

After a thorough review of the last cycle’s resolution, it is in fact my opinion that Josh has achieved victory with 30 Power. They are encouraged to explain the cause of the dark Ansible, and the fate of Blogia, in any Declarations of Victory they make in the near future.

Wow, that could have gone any one of a number of ways. Well played, everyone!

Will do a DoV this evening.

At the time my CONTROL message was processed, I had 21 power, the total power of all players besides myself was 100, and there were 8 active players. I should thus recieve 100/8 = 12.5 power, rounded to 12, and should beat Josh by 3.

Not sure how you would have had 21 power - you had 14 last round and only influenced the Mine, so should have had 19, not 21. I’m also not sure how your power jumped from 9 to 14 in the previous cycle.

It does seem like SPC only allotted you 7 power for your correct control message, however. Audit needed?

Apologies - forgot the watchtower and slave pits carried 2 Power each. Turn 20 you still should have picked up 4 power rather than 5, though, I think - +2 for Slave Pits, +2 for Watchtower, +1 for Courthouse, -1 for Public - what am I missing?

Yonah:

Ah, I believe SPC overlooked the -1 from the public. So I should be at 32. I hadn’t paid too much attention to it since I spent the last 48 hours frantically trying to second-guess what Kevan and Clucky were going to do with their Marines.

Yonah may be correct - I appear to have added his bonus to his old power, not his new one. Yonah, I would advise that you release the Watchtower message so a public audit can be done - I’m at work and can’t go through it fully right now.

Galatea counts as a player for determining bonuses; that brings the bonus for the correct guess down to 11…

Kevan: he/him

But the Net doesn’t count, so it’s back up to 13.

I’d pretty much written off the idea that anyone could win with the Public, without flooding the board with Marines - good deduction, there.

Ah, true.

Oh, well, that was a moment of giddy excitement. Well played Yonah :D

Kevan: he/him

24-05-2012 15:36:12 UTC

Oh, wait, it’s “all other players combined”, not “all players”, so it’s actually a 14 point bonus (100/7; Clucky, Koen, Gidil, Josh, Kevan, Murphy, Galatea).

Kevan: he/him

24-05-2012 15:37:22 UTC

No, my mistake, it’s the power of all other players, divided by the number of all players…

Yonah:

24-05-2012 15:46:25 UTC

So long as it puts me at at least 31 I don’t care :P.

Clucky: he/him

still think SPC screwed up the cycle resolution. Not sure how I didn’t influence the mob.

Yonah:

24-05-2012 15:50:26 UTC

Here is the watchtower if anyone wants to check for themselves. My CONTROL message was simply the 5 institutions Galatea sent marines to besides the Mob, all of which were unopposed. I took the Watchtower unopposed, and used the Courthouse to take the Mine and Mob from Josh and Clucky respectively.

Clucky: he/him

24-05-2012 15:53:58 UTC

If I lose because I assumed he got my PM where I backed out of influencing the mob last round simply so I could slam it this round when he didn’t get that PM and didn’t inform me when I sent my bids in I’m going to be kinda pissed, especially considering if I had just sent everything to the mine instead it still would’ve worked. Obviously nothing in the ruleset required SPC to send my list back last round or tell me what was up, but I still seems like the right thing to do.

Clucky: he/him

Oh. I read the round 20 courthouse instead of the round 21. well played then Yonah.
