Proposal: Fixing grammatical issues

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 02 Mar 2015 10:24:56 UTC

In the rule “The Sky” change:

If no Townsperson has done so during the current Season

to

If the Astrologer has not done so during this season

Add the following to the end of the rule:

A townsperson may request to have the constellations read by making a post requesting it.

The astrologer has only one purpose in this case and seeing as how the townsperson is mentioned only once in the entire rule, we need to change the wording a little bit.

imperial Hm, the last sentence doesn’t seem to make sense to me. What do you mean by having “the constellations read”? Did you mean “examined”? So anyone may remind the Astrologer to examine the constellations? Can’t we do that anyway?

Like: “Did you already examine the Constellations this season, Astrologer?” :-)

against This fix allows Kevan (who’s not the Astrologer but who is allowed to examine the sky) to examine the sky as much as they like. I don’t see a problem with the rule as it is.

@Kevan, I think because the Rule Pace says that it “supersedes” Rule 1.5, the line “Any Townsperson may make a Proposal unless they have 4 or it would be their 5th” actually supersedes the line in 1.5 where it says we can’t Propose if we have 2 pending or 3 made because it implies that as long as we don’t have 4 pending or 5 made, we are allowed to Propose more Rules, thus superseding Core Rule 1.5. Am I right Kevan?

@Sylphrena the proposal is copied word for word from the rules the only real changes to the rule is to make the rule connect together, linking the two parts together, If you want I can make a much longer explanation of the proposal

@mideg To examine, Yes, Yes, I think so but that isn’t made clear at all whether we can or can’t remind him to do it, Yes.

@Maldor: If this proposal was enacted, the second paragraph of the rule “The Sky” would read:

“If the Astrologer has not done so during this season, the Astrologer or Astronomer may examine the Sky by randomly selecting a Constellation from those not currently visible in the Sky, adding it to the above list in the rightmost position, and then removing the leftmost Constellation from that list.”

So the Astronomer can examine the sky indefinitly, since it has never been the Astrologer that has done it.

Regarding the reminding: I don’t believe that communication between Townpersons needs rules. Didn’t I just do the reminding with my first comment?
