i’m working out some ideas for new powers, would like some feedback before writing up a proposal.

first, i’m confused about how they are right now: looks like you get to choose three, only get to use one per day, but can also change one per day. so in effect, they get to use any power they want, because if they don’t have the one they want, they just simply swap it out before enacting it.

so (unless i misunderstand), i would propose either a) removing the requirement to track what powers you have, and let kaiju use any available power once per day, or b) having three slots (which may repeat powers), and you may only use a power from those slots, which removes it from the slot, or discharge a power, once per day, and only filling in slots when they’re empty.

in either case, new powers i’m considering (but need to think through more):

media blackout: the kaiju god may declare a media blackout on a neighborhood, which doubles the population/building effects of any headlines affecting that neighborhood over the next 24 hours. (or maybe for that day, since we track headlines by the day, and make the effects retroactive—on the other hand, if we have a way to track powers in use, that makes it easier to keep track of the next 24 hours, which would probably be better).

circle of protection: by declaring a circle of protection over a neighborhood, no monster may enter that neighborhood for the next 24 hours.. (there may be no monster in to begin with).
