Back up… we think

Things appear to be running smoothly after the longer-than-expected EE upgrade. It was longer than expected because we were extremely careful, and also because I am extremely stupid.

This is also a test post. If things are as they should be, you will never know what it is I’m testing.

UPDATE: The ages of pending Proposals in the sidebar should be fixed now. Please confirm in the comments whether you’re seeing the correct times now.

Slight glitch: the proposals “Edie” and “Boss-some” are both said to have existed for a negative amount of time.

My wild guess as to the problem is that whatever we’re using to track how old proposals are is now running backwards.

Heh, yes, I have two accounts. The first is for administrative stuff, and the second is for gameplay, and as you can see here, I am crap at maintaining that distinction.

On the proposal times, oof. I’ll look at that tomorrow after I get some rest.

Uh yes, the times are important, as the Proposal which could have been passed hours ago is now 5 hours from 48 . . . and that number is increasing. . . .

Excalabur:

the timestamps are still correct. the ruleset doesn’t say ‘turns red’ it says 48 hours old.

Qwazukee:

I know, I already enacted something. It’s very confusing, however.

yuri: don’t inflate his ego :)

75th: the offset looks like we’re subtracting local times from UTC times again somewhere, or the correction we did last time got obsolete.

This is weird

Investigating now.

75th Trombone:

It appears as though all the post ages in the side bar are -8 hours from what they should be. I have no idea what could cause this. Investigation continues…

Qwazukee:

29-08-2009 23:11:37 UTC

Oh I know what could cause it. Daylight Savings Time.

75th Trombone:

29-08-2009 23:51:00 UTC

Ha, no, Daylight-saving time generally doesn’t cause seven-hour discrepancies.

What does cause that is a change to the way EE interprets the {gmt_entry_date} tag when you’re getting the time zone offset (%Z).

I believe it’s fixed for me now. Can anyone else confirm that it’s correct?

Qwazukee:

30-08-2009 02:16:00 UTC

Well I was talking about Daylight Savings time on a Post-Apocalyptic planet, which is very different.

The times seem to be correct now.
