Proposal: Scooter loophole

5-1. Timed Out.—Chronos

Adminned at 25 Aug 2005 05:59:40 UTC

Add to the description of the Scooter item:

No player may have more than 3 Scooters at a time.

.

If, since the posting of this proposal, a player have had 4 or more Scooters at a given time, move e to Gaol as if they have had been in debt for 4 days, then set eir B$ to -1.

This is to prevent the exploit I just did (and that could have lead to infinitly painting the world.

Well, not quite infinity painting, but close enough (all adjectives and colors in the english language).

Also eventually it would get very expensive to scoot places.

Although, after thinking about it a bit, it doesn’t stop people from infinitely painting the world, it just makes it a little harder.  You could always carry around some yellow paint to paint whatever square you’re on yellow and be able to buy some scooters..

Hmmm. Really, I’m thinking about limiting Item use in a daily basis, say, 3 Item uses a day, no matter what Item. What do you think about it?

I’m also thinking in a instant punishment if someone become a debtor, in the lines of auto-mortgaging properties whenever someone is in debt and only sending then to Gaol if there is no more property to sell. That would make infinite item usage hard, since most possible schemes now rely on using a lot of items then hitting Jackpot to get the money back.

Another loophole that needs a patch is Home Beacon cycling. I can envision a cycle involving the Go and Jackpot Squares that leads to infinite money. I was thinking about limit Home Beacon use to “Often”.

All in all, I’m out of Proposal slots just now, so feel free to propose the patchs if you want.

for This isn’t the only scooter loophole. You could crash the market by buying a huge amount of scooters and beacons, then go around, hitting people with Pointed Sticks, heading back after every attack, getting a new Pointed Stick and heading back. After you drain everyone’s money head to Jackpot and make a huge profit while everyone else goes to Jail.

Instant Mortgage just makes it harder (more costly) to make an infinite loop.  Notice that I just made a loop without losing money and without spending more money than I had (I could have stopped by the Raimbow and bought a new color too, darn). I think that a limited Item uses a day is good - that stops most infinite combos. :)

I’m also thinking of making the Jackpot more Jackpot-y, and less “lets scoot over to get my money back”.
