Call for Judgment: Admins should not get Points

Times out 8-3. Enacted. - lilomar

Adminned at 10 Aug 2010 21:53:12 UTC

Remove all actions from the Code of Conduct associated with adminning proposals. Revert any point changes made due to those actions.
Amend Rule 2.4.1 by replacing

There exists a Code of Conduct document - initially empty - which lists any number of possible game actions, each of which has a trigger condition, a six-letter designation and an attached Treason or PP modifier, which may be positive or negative. The Code of Conduct document is maintained by the High-Programmer at a URL of his choice anywhere on the Internet. Any Officer or Citizen of Blue Clearance or higher may privately request the URL of the Code of Conduct document; the High-Programmer should privately respond to their request with the URL.

17:02 <@lilomar> location passed
17:02 <%coppro> LLL just passed
17:02 <@lilomar> thank you bucky, btw, for enacting it
17:02 <&CallForJudgement> coppro: shall I terminate you now?
17:02 < Bucky> np.  Do I get a commendation for it?
17:02 <@lilomar> i can no longer give commendations, they have been superceded by CoC
17:02 <@lilomar> but
17:03 * lilomar edits CoC document
17:03 <%coppro> lilomar: you can’t retroactively do that
17:03 <%coppro> “if a Citizen or Officer performs the trigger condition of an action listed on the Code of Conduct”
17:04 <%coppro> also, making admin proposals gameplay is BAD in my opinion
17:04 <%coppro> *adminning
17:04 <@Ienpw_III> yep
17:04 <@Ienpw_III> it is
17:04 <@Ienpw_III> making adminning anything is bad
17:05 <@lilomar> why bad?
17:05 <&CallForJudgement> I don’t mind a small boost for adminning, just to persuade people to do it
17:05 <%coppro> because most people can’t do it
17:05 <&CallForJudgement> it’s hard work after all
17:05 <&CallForJudgement> anything else is bad, though
17:06 <%coppro> if adminning gets on the CoC, I will propose removing it
17:06 <%coppro> actually, no, I’ll CFJ it
17:07 <@lilomar> but, it’s on there now, so CFJ away
17:07 <@lilomar> cfj and prop is the only way to remove something once i have added it
17:07 <%coppro> erg ...

(this had some lines removed that were part of another discussion)

While I like the notion of rewarding admins in principle, I do not like the idea that admins can get any rewards by virtue of their status as admins that we can’t by virtue of not being admins. This is discrimination!

Oh, and coppro, you’ve been around long enough that you could be an admin if you wanted to.

It’s a CFJ because a) I feel it needs urgent attention, b) I have no slots

Also, while I could propose to be an admin, that doesn’t solve the problem of this being unfair.

for I agree adminning can be hard work, but most people cannot do it, so you should not receive a reward for doing so.

If we want to discuss whether administrative actions should be rewarded, I‘ll state the following:

1. Isn‘t it a reward that other Players trust you to admin a nomic?
2. If there is too much work to do for Admins, create a Story Post and state this. Lots of Players (maybe including me) will propose themselves to become Admins.
3. If we need more rewards, I‘d like to have Agoran like Ribbons.

I think he means that admins should be able to get some reward for adminning things, but not if it means that some players are not allowed to get that reward, ie. if some players aren’t admins.

No. If all players were admins it would be fine, he says.

Or if the reward was something like a ribbon with no game effect.
