Protosal: Win by not loosing

In Rule 1.9 entitled “Victory and Ascension” replace “If a Citizen (other than the High-Programmer) believes that they have achieved victory in the current Dynasty, they may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this.” with:

If a Citizen (other than the High-Programmer) believes that they have achieved victory in the current Dynasty, they may make a post to the Blognomic weblog in the Declaration of Victory category, detailing this. If the Ruleset explicitly states all Citizens except one may not achieve victory, that Citizen has achieved victory.

Any idea where to place this victory condition better than there?

against I don’t like having a VC in the core rules. I also don’t agree with the logic that “Everyone but you can’t win.” == “You win.”

against The reason we do it this way is so that we have time to check whether or not that one Citizen actually *can* achieve victory.

Idle against. If the ruleset implicitly implies that all Citizens except one cannot win then that’s one thing, but forcing the ruleset to explicitly state that those Citizens can’t win - which presumably requires a list of names - seems like it might well be scamtastic.

against This is wildly unintuitive.

against You know, not every rule that works well in Agora necessarily works well in BlogNomic.

Besides, the rule in Agora is almost entirely designed to be scammed; the only wins by Solitude in Agora were based on scamming the punishment rules, and activating a number of submarine agreements, such that many players were forced idle and many others were banned from winning temporarily because the rules had been glitched into punishing them for something they didn’t actually do wrong. I’m not entirely sure if we want a core rule based on one that was designed as a scam magnet.
