Proposal: A Bigger Circle

Fewer than a quorum not voting against. Failed 1 vote to 4 by Kevan.

Adminned at 05 Dec 2019 09:37:38 UTC

To “Transformation”, add a paragraph:-

Trapped within a scuffed but intact chalk circle, the Adventurer named TyGuy6 may not use the effects of Hidden Monstrosities.

Undo any Battle Actions of the Adventurer named TyGuy6 that used the New Actions of Hidden Monstrosities, and all Battle Actions (if any) subsequent to the New Action of a Hidden Monstrosity, within that Battle.

As requested.

Actually, I’m changing my vote. I could argue that the previous scam was far-fetched, given everything else said in the rule, but the more I look at the rule, the more I think that it’s too badly written to deserve any such protection. Either we go with the letter of the law, or we don’t.  against

The law of Nomic is that changing those laws is a move. If a player does something surprising, rival players weigh up their options and react accordingly, with the tools available to them: the action of “submit a proposal to change the gamestate” isn’t really any different to a sword slash or fire throw.

This dynasty’s been a bit unusual for its fair-handedness: any group of three Humans could have proposed “meh, set the Monster’s HP to zero” at any point, but didn’t. (I guess because in the early battles it would be a precedent that rendered the battle subgame pointless, and in the later ones it’d be seen as unfair.) This leisurely amendment seems in the same spirit of keeping it a fair fight: having seen the Monster unveil a new ability which no earlier Monster used, we could propose some compensatory damage or additional human weapons, or we could just remove the ability.

I’m over it. Duke isn’t going to vote for and Cuddlebeam is going to abstain.

Anyone want to bring me up to speed on if it’s crucial that I vote one way or another?

Heh, this one’s a convoluted disagreement over a few points in combat. Hop in if you want, but I don’t think it has major ramifications beyond the end-of-dynasty footrace.
