Debate 4

Venue: 15 * 4 * 5 = 300
Length: 120
Entry Cost: 8

Issue: What should be the issue for this debate? Why would that issue make a good issue for that debate? If you were going to enter the debate and your issue was the real issue, what would you say to win supporters to your cause?

Call for Judgment: Too much

Failed with no FOR votes.- Darknight

Adminned at 03 Sep 2008 12:51:37 UTC

There is too much rule “misunderstanding” at the moment. These rule misunderstandings are leading on to illegal moves taken in the GDNT and in the rest of the game. As result we have had 2 previous CfJ’s on topics like these.

Should this CfJ pass, end the current dynasty and start a metadynasty (with all dynastic rules repealed).

One, two, five…. Thog count good

In rule 2.2, change the last line from:

On or after the date 10-4-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT the Candidate with the highest Total Support who is not in debt, provided there are no active debates, has achieved victory.

to read:

On or after the date 10-4-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT the President Thog shall vote each Candidates total support. During this time no actions may be performed. The Candidate with the highest Total Support who is not in debt, provided there are no active debates, has achieved victory.

I figured its the easiest way to count support and keep us from using actions while they are being counted.

Oze Returns

I am unidling. Quorum remains at 8.

Call for Judgment: Problems with fundraising

Failed 4-3—Mr. Evil. —Rodlen

Adminned at 01 Sep 2008 08:49:15 UTC

The text of the rule fundraising reads:

If a Candidate has not taken a campaign action within the last 12 hours, that candidate may perform a Fundraiser by posting 1DICEX in the GDNT where X is any postive number between 0 and the total number of supporters they have. The Candidate must then increase their money by the result and decrease their supporters by X*.25. Rounded down to the nearest whole number.

I notice that Arthexis, and perhasp others, have been using their TOTAL supporters when performing this action, rather than just their supporters.

Should this CfJ pass, reset the Money of all Candidates to 20.

Proposal: My name is Arthexis, and I approve this message

Passed 7-0, last vote was after time out.- Darknight

Adminned at 30 Aug 2008 12:37:53 UTC

Create a new rule called, “Media Exposure”:

There exists an stickied story post titled “Blognomic News Channel”, with the text, “Your official source for Blognomic politics.” This story post shall be refered to as the News Post.

As a daily action, a Candidate may post a comment to the News Post, and add 1DICE3 Supporters to the Candidate they endorse. Those comments are known as Blognomic Statements (BS). The content of BS must be somehow related to Blognomic, and cannot be an exact copy of previous BS.

As a daily action, President Thog may post a comment to the News Post, and add or remove 1DICE6 Supporters to the last Candidate that posted BS.

State of the game

Hey, guys. To those who don’t know me, I’m the guy whose webspace Blognomic is on (NOT its creator; that’s Kevan). I used to play, and hope to again one day soon.

I just wanted to take a quick poll of everyone and see how happy/unhappy you guys are with the technical side of things here. I know Dreamhost is kinda notorious for downtime lately, although it’s distributed among their scrillions of servers. Has there been excessive or particularly inconvenient downtime on Blognomic?

Also, I intend to devote some time to general upkeep around here, to do some things I always wanted to do but was too ADD for. I’ve started a list of possible-things-to-do on the wiki, so if anyone has any pet peeves or big ideas, type away. :)

Thanks, y’all.

Call for Judgment: Illeagal fundraising

1 to 3= failed. Darknight

Adminned at 31 Aug 2008 17:39:34 UTC

arthexis performed a fundrasing action while counting all the supporters he had because of his last proposal. However, before he performed it I had changed back to endosing myself. He counted my supporters into his fundraiser roll. Therefore, if this CfJ passes, I would like to see his supporter and money total reset to where they were before the roll and all candidates that endose him to be set to endose themselves

Proposal: I am Corruption

Self-killed—arthexis

Adminned at 28 Aug 2008 15:29:51 UTC

Add a new rule, “Corruption”:

Whenever a Candidate votes FOR on their own proposal, if e has at least 50 Money, e may include the words, “Money makes the world go around” in their voting comment. If e does, e must decrease their Money by 50.  All valid votes made by the proposer of that proposal are counted twice for the purposes of enacting it. If the proposal fails, the proposer loses 1DICE10 Supporters.

Story Post: Debate Resolution (#3)

Issue: You are driving a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a valley and on your right side is a fire engine travelling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level. Both the giant pig and the helicopter are also travelling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this situation?

1: As the speed we are traveling at is constant, we can assume it to be zero for our frame of reference. Climb out of the car and remove the blades from the chopper. Use the blades to slice the pig into strips and the firetruck into a fire and a truck. Use the fire to cook the strips into bacon. Climb in the truck with your plate of bacon and ride off into the sunset.

2: This is obviously that joke where I am drunk and on a merry-go-round. This isn’t a time for jokes, it is a time for politics.

3: I’d start by tossing ears of corn at the pig to see if it’ll move over to the side of the road. If that fails, then I would start a fire in the valley so the firetruck would have to stop so i could pull around. I have no clue how to use the chopper. Only as a last resort would I drive into the grass and wait. Then I’d wake up and wonder where that dream came up and swear off the late night porkrines.

4: If I cannot wake up, I would give signs to slow down, then do so. The helicopter crew would avoid a crash fearing for their own safety.

Story Post: Debate Resolution (#3)

Sorry. Re-done

Proposal: Impeachment

Vetoed—arthexis

Adminned at 27 Aug 2008 22:02:51 UTC

Add a new sub-rule “Impeachment” to rule 2.3 with the following text:

A Candidate, further called the Plaintiff, may declare to impeach another Candidate, further called the Defendant, for Illegal Campaigning if the Defendant has taken a campaign action other than Grass Roots withing the preceding 48 hours and if the Plaintiff has at least fifty Supporters.

Then the Plaintiff shall make a Proposal “Convict NAME of Illegal Campaigning”, where NAME is the name of the Defendant. This Proposal, further called Conviction Proposal, only succeeds if both two thirds of the votes on it are YES, and at least one third of all Candidates vote YES on it, otherwise it fails.

If the Conviction Proposal succeeds, the Defendant’s Supporters and the Defendant’s Money are set to the values a new Candidate would get, and all Candidates who Endorsed the Defendant are set to Endorse themselves. If the Conviction Proposal fails, the Plaintiff loses fifty Supporters or half their Supporters, whichever is more, and also loses fifty Money or half their Money, whichever is more.

First Reading: Polling Nightmare

Meh… too long, will never pass.

Proposal: Money From Abroad

Pases 3 to 1—arthexis

Adminned at 27 Aug 2008 17:48:35 UTC

Add a new sub-rule “Going Abroad” to rule 2.3 with the following text:

If a candidate has not taken a campaign action within the last 96 hours, the candidate may perform a Going Abroad action by commenting “GA 1DICE2” in the GDNT. The candidate then sets their supporters to X, where X is the result of dividing the number of supporters they have by the outcome of the die roll. The next time this candidate takes/performs an action, they may instead double the amount of money they have and then take/perform the action.

Call for Judgment: Thog vote recount

Passes 4-0, does absolutely nothing. —The One Best Person Here, The Amazingly Great Overly Powerful Evil Dictator Rodlen

Adminned at 29 Aug 2008 13:04:28 UTC

Count the votes on Proposal “Raising the stakes” as if President Thog voted YES, and therefore all DEF votes also count as YES votes.

(That’s how I understood it… Amnistar voted YES, and he’s the President Thog)

Proposal: One is enough

Passed 4 to 1—arthexis

Adminned at 27 Aug 2008 17:45:49 UTC

Repeal rule 2.2.1.

Keep rule 2.5 (identical in content) with its current content.

Ambi Valent gains no supporters for this proposal if it passes.

Proposal: Underhanded Campaign Tactics

Passes 4 to 3—arthexis :)

Adminned at 26 Aug 2008 20:18:20 UTC

Set the Endorses value of each Candidate who voted on this Proposal to ‘arthexis’.
Each candidate that Endorses the creator of this proposal adds 5 to their Money and arthexis loses 5 Money for each Candidate that endorses him.

To keep the campaign up and running…

I am unidling myself. Quorum is now 7.

wake up call

I want to point out some things that need an admin. theres a new player post a few spots down that i alerted clucky to but i see he didn’t get there. we have many overdue proposals. debate 1 is past the 72 hr limit, thus making it moot and in need of refunds. i just got back from a trip and i need time to sort out suitcases so i’m not free to do any of the above. I’m not trying to past this off as rude, just pointing out 2 things that may have been missed and something we all can see. i should be back in full admin swing later monday or tuesday.

Replace the current content of rule 2.3.1 (“Grass Roots”)

If a Candidate has not performed a Campaign Action within the last 48 horus, the Candidate may perform a Grass Roots action by commenting “GR 1DICE6” in the GDNT. The candidate then increases their Supporters by the result of the roll and the Supporters of the Candidate they endorse by 1.

Replace the current content of rule 2.3.2 (“Mud-Slinging”)

If a Candidate has not performed a Campaign Action within the last 72 horus, the Candidate may perform a Mud-Sling action by commenting “MS NAME 1DICE6” in the GDNT where NAME is the name of any active Candidate. Proposal: Party Basics

Fails 4 to 2 after timeout—arthexis

Adminned at 24 Aug 2008 20:13:25 UTC

In Rule 2.2 (“Election”) replace the following paragraph

Each Candidate also has a statistic GDNT ‘Endorses’ which is tracked in the GDNT. ‘Endorses’ can be the name of any active Candidate. A candidate is said to Endorse whichever Candidate is listed under their Endorses. If at any time a Candidate is Endorsing anyone other than an active Candidate, that Candidate then is set to Endorse themselves. A Candidate may, as a weekly action, change their Endorse to any active Candidate.

with

Each Candidate also has a statistic GDNT ‘Endorses’ which is tracked in the GDNT. ‘Endorses’ can be the name of any active Candidate. A candidate is said to Endorse whichever Candidate is listed under their Endorses. If at any time a Candidate is Endorsing anyone other than an active Candidate, that Candidate then is set to Endorse themselves.

A Candidate may, as a weekly action, perform at most one of the following three options:
1) Change their Endorse to any active Candidate.
If Endorsing Candidate and Endorsed Candidate have different values of ‘Party’, the Endorsing Candidate’s value of ‘Party’ becomes the Endorsed Candidate’s value of ‘Party’, and all Candidates who Endorsed the Endorsing Candidate change their Endorse to themselves.
2) Become independent. This causes them to endorse themselves, and any Candidates who Endorsed them change their Endorse to themselves.
3) Found a party, if this is allowed. The founding Candidate and all Candidates who endorsed them become members of this party.

Change the title of Rule 2.2.1 from “Public Image” to “Parties” (rule 2.5 “Public Image” remaining unchanged) and replace its content with the following:

Each Candidate also has a statistic GDNT ‘Party’ which is tracked in the GDNT. ‘Party’ can be the name of any active party, upon which the Candidate is said to be a member of ‘Party’, or ‘Independent’, upon which the Candidate is said to be independent. Changing the value of ‘Party’ is not possible except by the Party they are a member of dissolving or by the Candidate becoming Inactive, upon which they become independent, or by the weekly actions described in rule 2.2

A Party’s Total Support is the sum total of the Supporters of all Candidates who are members of this Party.

A Party may only be founded as option of Rule 2.2 if the founder is Endorsed by themselves and at least two other Candidates, and at most two Parties have a Party’s Total Support that is equal or greater than the founder’s Total Support. When a Party is founded, the founder gives the Party its name, which has to be different from existing Parties’ names, and consists of the name of a color followed by “Party”.

Whenever a Party has less than two members, it ceases to be, and its remaining member, if there is one, becomes independent.

Set each Candidate’s Party to “Independent”.

Proposal: Donations

Passes with 5 FORs and 2 DEFs—arthexis the not so idle

Adminned at 24 Aug 2008 20:07:37 UTC

Add to rule 2.4 the following:

A Candidate who is not in debt may, as a daily action, donate up to half eir money (rounded down) to the candidate e Endorses. A candidate Donates by decreasing eir money by the amount to be donated and increasing eir Endorse’s money by that amount.

Proposal: What is Being Debated?

Passes with 6 FOR votes—arthexis the idle

with:

If e makes eir post, the body of the Debate resolution must contain the issue for the debate and a complete copy of the text of each valid pm he had received, in no particular order, each with an ascending numeric in front starting with number 1.

I’m reading the debates and have no idea what the question is

Arrival

I’ve just arrived and would like to become a Candidate.

Story Post: Debate resolution (#2)

1: I will give ogres a chance to join my EVIL army OF DOOM with double the pay! MWA HA HA!!!

2: Ogre Rights is a zombie issue. It has been dead since our much-beloved
President Thog repealed all racist rules at Ascension, and only maintains a
semblance of life because of this debate. Furthermore, it was never an
issue; under the previous ruleset, one’s race was based entirely on
preference. We should drop the debate and let old prejudices die.

Debate 1

Please note that Thrawn is still the moderator for this debate. This debate reset due to a mishandling of the length rule.

Length: 30
Venue: 40
Entry Cost: 2

Issue: Looking back through the archives, it seems the Pirate vs Ninja war was only ended with a sneaky trick. As President, what would you do to bring lasting peace to the Islands?

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Born, I have been.

I have arrived and would like to be added as a Candidate.

Proposal: A faster way to win

2-2 after time out, so fails.—Clucky

Adminned at 20 Aug 2008 08:06:00 UTC

Add a new subrule to the rule entitled “Election”.  Call it “Landslide victory” and give it the following text:

If a Candidate has Supporters greater than half the total of all Candidates’ Supporters, and that Candidate is not in debt, that Candidate achieves victory immediately.

Call for Judgment: DQed?

Passes with 6 FOR votes. Debate one has reset

Adminned at 20 Aug 2008 07:56:53 UTC

Rule 2.6 debates says

Any Candidate wishing to enter the Debate must post a reply to the Debate post with the phrase “I will enter.” E must then pay the moderator the entry cost, in millions of money, of the debate and . The Candidate then must provide the moderator with a response (via PM) containing up to Length number of words, but not exceeding Length. This pm must begin with the word “Debate” so the moderator can recognize it as such a response. The reply and response must both be completed within 72 hours of the Debate post being posted.

The length of debate 1 was 30. Entry number 1 for debate 1 has a length of 69, making it an illegal entry. As I feel it would be unfair to just give myself all the supporters (Thrawn should’ve pointed out Darknights mistake to him)...

Restart debate 1 with the same venue, length, and issue as before and Thrawn as the moderator but with another 72 hours for candidates to enter. Then proceed as normal with a debate.

Debate 2

Length: 60
Venue: 90
Entry Cost: 4

Issue: Ogres are constantly oppressed in today’s society, to the extent where many people still consider them “monsters”. Where do you stand on the important issue of Ogre Rights in todays ever changing culture?

Debate resolution

1
As president, I would create a system that would regulate how pirates and ninjas would collect hidden treasures of the isles. I would also put into place an honor system to prevent any more cases of a pirate or ninja using sneaky tricks to achive a goal. Underhanded tactics only serve to make the rift between the two clans bigger. I vow to bring the islands together in peace.

Proposal: Partisan, Take 2

1 for and 2 against. the last vote doesn’t count (made by a non active person) Darknight

Adminned at 16 Aug 2008 10:16:20 UTC

Add a new rule titled “Position”

Each Candidate has a Position, tracked in the GNDT. A Candidate’s Position may be “Left”, “Centre” or “Right”. A new Candidate has the Position “Centre”. As a weekly action, a Candidate may change their Position to any of the possible values. “Left” and “Right” are opposite positions.
If a candidate changes their endorsed candidate to one with the opposite position, they may reduce the supporters of any number of candidates with Position “Centre” by one. If they do so, they may increase their supporters by the number of candidates whose supporters they reduced.

Change rule 2.3.2 Mud-Slinging to read

If a Candidate has not performed a Campaign Action within the last 72 horus, the Candidate may perform a Mud-Sling action by commenting “MS NAME 1DICEN” in the GDNT where NAME is the name of an active Candidate, and N is 8 where that candidate has the same position as the acting candidate, 4 if their positions are opposite, or 6 otherwise. The Candidate then decreases the Supporters of NAME by the result of the roll, their own Supporters by 1, and then the Supporters of the candidate they endorse by 1. If the candidate and NAME have the same position, their Supporters and the Supporters of the candidate they endorse are reduced by 2 instead.

Set each Candidate’s Position to “Centre”

D D (thats 2-d, punk)

Add a new rule titled “Position”, give it the following text

Each Candidate has a position, tracked in the GNDT in two columns called “Economic Position” and “Social Position”. A Candidate’s position in either column may be “Left”, “Centre” or “Right”. A new Candidate has the economic and social positions of “Centre”. As a weekly action, a Candidate may change their economic and social position to any of the possible values. The distance between Left and Centre or Centre and Right is one, while the difference between Left and Right is two. The distance between two politicians is total difference between their economic and social positions.

Give half of any supporters, rounded up, earned by Clucky for the passage of this proposal to Thrawn.

I’m not against the mud-sling proposal, but feel this is a risky enough proposal itself.

Remove the phrase

, including replacing Spivak pronouns with the singular “they”

from the rule “Ruleset and Gamestate”

I personally think its a bad idea not have a standard set of pronouns. But as Spivak isn’t even defined, thats just cluttering the ruleet.

In the rule “Victory and Ascension”

remove

A DoV may not be started in the period between a passing DoV and that DoV’s Ascension Address.

Suppose someone wins and then for an unforseen reason has to go idle. That DoV’s AA would never get posted, and so no one could ever win blognomic. If people want to slow the game down by posting a DoV after someone has won, thats a jerk move but it isn’t any different than if I were to post a DoV right now.

Proposal: Debeating on the internet… lol!

Adminned at 11 Aug 2008 08:10:01 UTC

Add a rule call “Debates” give it the following text

Prior to the Election, there are eight debates which occur for candidates to gain support in. Debates are numbered in order of their occurrence, starting at 1 and ending at eight. Debates are either Upcoming, Active or Finished. All Debates start as Upcoming. Each debate has a length, a venue, an issue, a start date and an entry cost. The length of a debate is equal to 30 times the number of the debate. The venue of the debate is equal to number of active candidates at the start of the debate times the five times of the number of the debate. The entry cost is equal to twice the number of the debate. Start dates are as follows:
Debate 1: Start Date: 8-8-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 2: Start Date: 8-15-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 3: Start Date: 8-23-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 4: Start Date: 8-30-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 5: Start Date: 9-6-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 6: Start Date: 9-13-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 7: Start Date: 9-20-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 8: Start Date: 9-27-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.

If the current time is after the start date of a debate and the debate is still Upcoming, all debates whose number is less than the debate are Active or Finished, and e did not moderate the debate whose number is one less than the debate in question, a candidate may choose to start a debate by making a post to the blog. Upon doing so, the debate in question becomes Active The post should contain which debate e is moderating and the issue for the debate. The candidate who made the post is considered the moderator of that debate.

After 72 and within 96 hours have passed, the moderator must post a story post with “Debate resolution” in the title. If e does not do so in the allotted time, e must pay each candidate who entered the debate the entry cost in millions of money and the debate becomes finished. If e makes eir post, the body of the Debate resolution must contain a complete copy of the text of each valid pm he had received, in no particular order, each with an ascending numeric in front starting with number 1. The numeric associated with each entry is considered to be the numeric of the candidate who wrote that entry. If two candidates send the exact same entry, only the first one is considered to be a valid PM.  The copied text should have the first word “Debate” omitted.  In no way should the Candidate who created each text be revealed in this post. Any Candidate, even those choosing not to debate, may reply to the Debate resolution only once.  In the text of their reply they may choose to enter a single numeric once.  They may only choose a numeric in front of a response that was not identical to their own response. After 48 and within 96 hours after the Debate resolution, the moderator must resolves the Debate. If e does not do so in the allotted time, e must pay each candidate who entered the debate twice the entry cost in millions of money and the debate becomes finished. If e resolves it in the allotted time, the number of numeric replies are tallied. Each Candidate receives A / T * V supporters, where A is the number of candidates who voted for eir numeric, T is the number of total candidates for voted for a numeric, and V is the Venue of the debate and the debate becomes finished.

In the rule “Election” replace the last paragraph with

On the date 10-4-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT the Candidate with the highest number of Total Supporters who is not in debt, provided there are no active debates, has achieved victory.

Give every active candidate with zero money ten money.

Debates might run over in time, don’t want someone to lose their victory because the DoV was posted before debate 8 is resolved. But if no one wants to run debate 8, the game doesn’t keep going forever.

Debating debates (Non-proposal)

Prior to the Election, there are eight debates which occur for candidates to gain support in. Debates are numbered in order of their occurrence, starting at 1 and ending at 7.
Debate 1: Start Date: 8-15-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 2: Start Date: 8-23-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 3: Start Date: 8-30-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 4: Start Date: 9-6-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 5: Start Date: 9-13-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 6: Start Date: 9-20-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
Debate 7: Start Date: 9-27-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT.
If the current time is after the start date of a debate, all debates whose number is less than the debate have started, and e did not moderate the debate whose number is one less than the debate in question, a candidate may choose to start a debate by making a post to the blog. The post should contain which debate e is moderating and the issue for the debate. The candidate who made the post is considered the moderator of that debate.
Any Candidate wishing to enter the Debate must post a reply to the Debate post with the phrase “I will enter.” And pay the moderator the entry cost, in millions of money, of the debate. The Candidate then must provide the moderator with a response (via) containing up to Length number of words, but not exceeding Length.  This pm must begin with the word “Debate” so the moderator can recognize it as such a response. The reply and response must both be completed within 72 hours of the Debate post being posted.
After 72 and within 96 hours have passed, the moderator must post a story post with “Debate resolution” in the title. If e does not do so in the allotted time, e must pay each candidate who entered the debate twice the entry cost in millions of money and the debate is considered over. If e makes eir post, the body of the Debate resolution must contain a complete copy of the text of each valid pm he had recieved, in no particular order, each with an ascending numeric in front starting with number 1. If e does not do so in the allotted time, e must pay each candidate who entered the debate twice the entry cost in millions of money and the debate is considered over. If e resolves it in the allotted time, the number of numeric replies are tallied. Each Candidate receives A / T * V supporters, where A is the number of candidates who voted for eir numeric, T is the number of total candidates for voted for a numeric, and V is the Venue of the debate.

The only change I made was going for only 7 debates cutting out the debate on the 8th, since at this rate the rule won’t be up by then lol. Thoughts?

Proposal: How be this?

I don’t really like the wording of the latter half. Someone should clean it up and actually propose this

Prior to the Election, there are eight debates which occur for candidates to gain support in. Debates are numbered in order of their occurrence, starting at 1 and ending at eight.

Debating…

I like the debate idea, but getting it to work without Thog doing lots of work seems like it would be a challenge.
Starting the debates is easy. I have the that part proposed below although could use some help on coming up with issues. The hard part is resolution—we want people voting for the best debate responses, not just for the people they strategically like. Then again, IRL McCain and Obama arn’t going to be wearing masks during their debates, so maybe knowing who gave the replies *wouldn’t* be a bad thing as long as we keep the “no voting for yourself” rule in place. What do you guys think?

Prior to the Election, there are eight debates which occur for candidates to gain support in. Debates are numbered in order of their occurrence, starting at 1 and ending at eight. Each debate has a length, a venue, a issue and a start date. The length of a debate is equal to 30 times the number of the debate. The venue of the debate is equal to number of active candidates at the start of the debate times the five times of the number of the debate. The issue and start dates are as follows:

Debate 2: Start Date: 8-15-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT. Issue: “Whats the bestest cheese in the world?”
Debate 3: Start Date: 8-23-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT. Issue: “”

Proposal: Let’s do it again

This was proposed five days ago. It passes.—Clucky

Adminned at 11 Aug 2008 07:28:02 UTC

Add a new subrule to Rule 2.2.  Call it “Public Image” and give it the following text:

Whenever a Proposal by a Candidate passes with fewer than two AGAINST votes, the Candidate who proposed it gains one Supporter for every FOR vote on that Proposal.  Whenever a Proposal by a Candidate fails with fewer than three FOR votes, the Candidate who proposed it loses one Supporter for every AGAINST vote on that Proposal.

Proposal: Show me the moneys

Passes 5 - 0——Clucky

Adminned at 07 Aug 2008 04:02:57 UTC

Add a new rule, call it “Money” and give it the following text

Each Candidate has an amount of money they have raised which is tracked in the GNDT in a column called “Money (Millions)”. This number may be negative. New Candidates start with 10 money.

If a candidate’s money is negative, they are said to be “In debt”

In the rule “Election” replace the last paragraph with

On the date 10-4-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT the Candidate with the highest number of Total Supporters who is not in debt has achieved victory.

If Proposal: Supporters not Votes fails, this proposal does nothing.

Create a new dynastic rule “Debates” with the text:

If there are no Debate posts that have not been resolved, the President Thog may begin a Debate by creating a story post with the text “Debate” in the title.  This will indicate that it is a Debate post.  A Debate post must contain the following information:

Length: A whole number, minimum 30, which will indicate the length of response for a Candidate.
Venue: A whole number, minimum 10, which will indicate the maximum Support earned.
Issue: A phrase or question to which the Candidates respond.

Any Candidate wishing to enter the Debate will post a reply to the Debate post with the phrase “I will enter.”  The Candidate then must provide the President Thog with a response (pm Amnistar) containing up to Length number of words, but not exceeding Length.  This pm must begin with the word “Debate” so President Thog can recognize it as such a response.  The response shall not mention any candidate.  The reply and response must both be completed within 72 hours of the Debate post being posted.

After 72 hours have passed, the President Thog must post a story post with “Debate resolution” in the title.  The body of the Debate resolution must contain a complete copy of the text of each valid pm he had recieved, in no particular order, each with an ascending numeric in front starting with number 1.  The copied text should have the first word “Debate” omitted.  In no way should the Candidate who created each text be revealed in this post.  If there is one or fewer responses recieved, the Debate is resolved with no effect.  Any Candidate, even those choosing not to debate, may reply to the Debate resolution only once.  In the text of their reply they may choose to enter a single numeric once.  They may only choose a numeric in front of a response that was not identical to their own response, and only a numeric that appears in the text of the body.  48 hours after the Debate resolution, the President Thog resolves the Debate.  At this time the number of numeric replies are tallied.  The Candidate whose numeric appears most in the replies is deemed the winner, and shall be awarded with Supporters equal to Venue.  If the result is a tie, all tied Candidates for winner recieve Supporters equal to Venue.  President Thog may, if he chooses, award any additional Candidates of his choosing whose text recieved at least one numeric reply up to half Venue rounded down.  He may, if he chooses, penalize any candidate not recieving any numeric reply Supporters by half Venue rounded down

I’m hoping that makes sense.  Idea being a public ballot, with the author of the response being anonymous until resolved.

Proposal: Mr. President, let me help propose this.  You don’t need any help.

This proposal does nothing. This was a duplicate of Amni’s reproposal, except I changed the last line to the following.

For those wondering about our president, it works out that he is still far more ept than the standing American President given average rolls.

Proposal: Gaining and losing Supporters, and Amni sucks at proposals. Thanks for not voting :(

Create a new dynastic rule “Campaigning” with the text:

Any action allowed by a sub-rule of this rule is considered a Campaign Action. Each Candidate has a statistic “Action” which is the date (HH:MinuteMinute/DD/MonthMonth) GMT that the last Campaign action was taken by that player.  This statistic is tracked in the GDNT and updated any time a Candidate performs a campaign action.

Create a new sub-rule of Campaigning “Grass Roots” with the text:

If a Candidate has not performed a Campaign Action within the last 48 horus, the Candidate may perform a Grass Roots action by commenting “GR 1DICE6” in the GDNT.  The candidate then increases their Supporters by the result of the roll and the Supporters of the Candidate they endorse by 1.

Create a new sub-rule of Campaigning “Mud-Slinging” with the text:

If a Candidate has not performed a Campaign Action within the last 72 horus, the Candidate may perform a Mud-Sling action by commenting “MS NAME 1DICE6” in the GDNT where NAME is the name of any active Candidate.  The Candidate then decreases the Supporters of NAME by the result of the roll, their own Supporters by 1, and then the Supporters of the candidate they endorse by 1.

For those wondering about the numbers, it works out that it would take 2 individuals actively working against 1 to keep them steady given average rolls.

A Candidate’s Total Supporters is the sum total of the Supporters of all Candidates that Endorse them.

reached a quorum, final vote 7-0—Yoda
All 7 votes were for Amnistar.  Long live Amni!
...and so ends the era of firsts… gloriously

If more than half of all comments containing counted for votes also contain the name of exactly one active Adventurer, the Adventurer whose name is included in the majority of those comments achieves victory.  If not, begin a new metadynasty.

Sorry to end it this way, but my schedule is about to become very full very quickly and I won’t be able to keep this up.  It’s been fun, though.  Thanks for a great dynasty.

In case you’re wondering, I will continue to try do as much as I can on the remaining party post until either this passes or it succeeds, whichever comes first.

A Little More Flexibility

Replace “As a daily action,” with “While he is allowed by the Dungeon Master,” in rule 2.16 “Combat”.

A daily action is too limiting in many ways.  This way, it can be a little more fair with large parties encountering a single enemy or something similar.

Proposal: Thy deeds will be remembered

reached a quorum, final vote 2-5—Yoda

Adminned at 04 Aug 2008 06:20:43 UTC

Add a new Dynastic Rule to the Ruleset.  Call it “Fame” and give it the following text:

Some Adventurers’ accomplishments are so great that they are enshrined in legend long after the era of Adventurers.  The degree to which they are remembered is “Fame”, tracked as an integer in the GNDT.  Fame is not reset between Dynasties, and this Rule should not be repealed between Dynasties.

Whenever a DoV passes, the Adventurer who becomes the new Dungeon Master (or equivalent) gains 1 Fame.  New Adventurers start with a Fame equal to the number of Dynasties named after them.
