Proposal: Administrative Assistants Great and Small

If the proposal “Creatures Great and Small” has not passed, this proposal has no effect.

Create a new rule entitled “Underlings” as follows:

Each Wizard may have an Underling Type, which is tracked in the GNDT as a string which is either blank or the name of a valid creature quality from among those listed in the rule “Creature.” By default, a Wizard’s Underling Type is blank.

If the proposal “Frog Chow” has passed, add a paragraph to the rule “Underlings” as follows:

As a Weekly Action, a Wizard may set their Underling Type to any creature quality by paying Food equal to three times the absolute value of that quality’s listed Upkeep. As long as a Wizard’s Underling Type is a given quality, for that Wizard, the Upkeep of that quality is considered to be 0.

Proposal: Frog Chow

Replace “cost” with “Upkeep” throughout the dynastic ruleset.

Enact a new rule, “Food”:-

Each Wizard has an amount of Food stockpiled for their creatures, tracked in the GNDT and defaulting to zero. As a weekly action, the King may increase every Wizard’s Food by 10.

In the rule “Creature”, if it exists, replace “Once every 72 hours, a Wizard may mutate a creature in another wizard’s stable and add the resulting creature to the stable of the wizard who mutated the creature.” with:-

A Wizard may mutate a Creature in another Wizard’s Stable by spending an amount of Food equal to that Creature’s Upkeep; the resulting Creature is added to the mutator’s own Stable.

Proposal: A Variety of Arenas

Create a rule named “Battlefields”:

A Battlefield has one to three randomly selected terrains

a terrains has a name, which is a string, and a list of battle effects, which are
The following are the valid terrain:
*aquatic
*walled
*desert
*frozen
*rich
*poor
*level
*sloped
*underground
*farflung
*nearby

Terrain is king in battle.

Proposal: Creatures Great and Small

Create a rule named “Creature”

a creature is a creature type proceeded by a list of zero or more qualities. Two creatures with the same qualities (not considering order) and creature type are the same creature. A quality may be added to a creature more than once.

When a Wizard Mutates a creature, they create a new creature with exactly one more or one less quality than the starting creature.

A quality has a name, which is a string, and a cost, which is an integer. The following is a list of all valid qualities, written as [name]([cost]):
*Giant (3)
*Winged (3)
*Fire breathing (2)
*Obedient (2)
*Leaping (2)
*Armored (2)
*Venomous (2)
*Swimming (1)
*Ferocious (1)
*Sure-footed (1)
*Swift (1)
*Horned (1)
*Fanged (1)
*Gaudy (0)
*Uncontrollable (-1)
The cost of a creature is the sum of the costs of its qualities.

Create a rule named “Stables”

Each wizard has a Stable, which is a list of up to five creatures, tracked in the GNDT as a semicolon separated list.

A wizard may not add a creature to their stable if that creature is in another wizard’s stable.

A wizard with zero creatures in their stable may create a creature with zero modifiers and a creature type of an animal name chosen from https://a-z-animals.com/animals/

When a wizard adds a creature to their stable, they may remove a creature from their stable.

Once every 72 hours, a Wizard may mutate a creature in another wizard’s stable and add the resulting creature to the stable of the wizard who mutated the creature.

What is a dragon but a giant fire breathing winged lizard?

Ascension Address: Monster Makers

The king’s court is garbed in black, for the second most important figure in the realm has died. Not the queen, nor the heir, but the Royal Wizard. For years, Garen Drakemage captured, bred, and enchanted monstrous beasts to serve in battle. The ferocious beasts have provided key victories, bringing both the realm and Garen much honor.

But now Garen Drakemage is gone, and one of his apprentices must take his place as the chief supplier of military monsters. Each must strive to prove his worth. It is a contest of both skill and leadership. In the end, one wizard will be selected as the new Royal Wizard, and given a title fitting of his new station. And with the on-going conflict in the west, the demand for war monsters is higher than ever…

With 4 maintained research modules and 4 civic titles, I have 19 points, more than any other architect. I just maintained myself, and as my site is safe, I have achieved victory

The final drop post was closed by a comment made at 05:04:53 on 21/06/2019, which, unless I’m very much mistaken, means we will be able to make Declarations of Victory from 17:04:53 on 22/06/2019.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve enjoyed this dynasty!

The inspector’s shuttle was inbound, expected to arrive within the next day or so.

Proposal: Settling Dust

Reached quorum 5 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 20 Jun 2019 09:38:05 UTC

Change:

If the date is on or after the 20th of June 2019, and no Drop post exists, and an Architect who has Monitored their own statistics in the previous two minutes has both a Safe Site and a higher Research Rating than every other Architect, then that Architect has achieved victory.

To:

If the date is on or after the 20th of June 2019, and no Drop post has existed for 36 hours, and an Architect who has Monitored their own statistics in the previous two minutes has both a Safe Site and a higher Research Rating than every other Architect, then that Architect has achieved victory.

Change:

If the date is on or after the 20th of June 2019, new Drop posts may not be made within 24 hours of the previous Drop post being closed

To:

If the date is on or after the 20th of June 2019, new Drop posts may not be made

We can’t claim final civil titles until after the drop post is closed. This gives time for everyone to monitor each other and fairly score the game.

Block: Cleanup Crew

Proposal: Chopping Block

Unanimous (with a def resolved), 6-0. Enacted by pokes.

Adminned at 19 Jun 2019 11:39:03 UTC

To “Drops”, add:-

When the Supervisor makes a Drop post, the shape and composition of its Block must be determined at random.

This was suggested on Slack earlier, to avoid any disinterested kingmaking from me now that it looks like I’ll be selecting the final Block of the dynasty.

Details Details

I have little interest in present dynasty, however, I’d like to point to the unlawful taking of two Civic titles by Derrick, as I understand current rules and conditions. I also note a certain lack of an ‘if and only if’ clause which seems rather against the spirit of the game to abuse, unless you guys enjoy trifling with technicalities. (Unspecified location for now, unless you’re curious.)

Proposal: We Used to Dream of Living in a Corridor

Reaches quorum, 5-1. Enacted by pokes.

Adminned at 19 Jun 2019 11:33:29 UTC

Add a Civil Title to the list in “Civil Titles”:-

* “Outpost” is a Civil Title applied to the Site which contains the fewest types of Module (and which contains at least one Module)

Doubt this will make any difference before endgame, but I’m impressed that Pokes has achieved the Cool House without using any Life Support.

TyGuy6 Joining

My fellow Internet folk, I wish to join BlogNomic as an Architect. My experience includes a year or two with B Nomic, up until the panic button fiasco that occurred somewhere around 2012. I judged several important issues and at one point held one half of a controlling partnership over Black Sock Corporation.

Good luck in the present Dynasty.

Proposal: Oxygen Toxicity

Fewer than a quorum not voting against, 2-3. Failed by pokes.

Adminned at 19 Jun 2019 11:31:24 UTC

Change:

Their Oxygen is less than 20% or greater than 75%

To:

Their Oxygen is less than 15% or greater than 35%

Change:

Their Temperature is greater than 40 and Oxygen is greater than 50%

to:

Their Temperature is greater than 40 and Oxygen is greater than 30%

Our oxygen numbers are wildly off from reality. This brings them more in line with what they should be.

Proposal: Key Words [Appendix]

Timed out 1 vote to 3. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 17 Jun 2019 07:44:48 UTC

In the Appendix, amend the first paragraph of “Keywords” to read:

A keyword is a word used in a way such that it names or refers to an entity, idea, or action useable by the Ruleset to represent or alter the Gamestate. A keyword defined by a rule supersedes the normal English usage of the word. Furthermore, a keyword defined in the Glossary supersedes that defined by a rule. (eg. A rule specifying “bananas are blue” cannot be overruled by posting a dictionary definition or a photo of a banana, and a rule specifying “every day is Sunday” will be overruled by the Glossary entry below.)

Create a subrule of “Keywords” called “Glossary,” and move the list of keywords to that subrule.

Add a word to the Glossary, whose entry shall read as follows:

;Define
:To attach meaning to a word or phrase such that it can interact with the Gamestate.

I’ve been thinking about how to clean up some things in the Laundry List, and I think I have a good solution for the Keywords item.

Edit: taking a second look at the proposed Glossary item for “define,” I’m not entirely sure I like it. I’m open to suggestions.

Proposal: Borg Chic

In the rule “Thermostat”, replace:

Increasing the Monitored Architect’s Temperature by 5 for every Power Module

Proposal: Safety Valve

Fewer than a quorum voting against. Failed 1-3 by Kevan.

Adminned at 11 Jun 2019 11:54:31 UTC

In the rule “Thermostat”, replace:

Increasing the Monitored Architect’s Temperature by 5 for every Power Module

with

Increasing the Monitored Architect’s Temperature by 5 for every additional Power Module beyond the first

With the current wording, a Site with one Power module has its temperature set to 20, then immediately increased to 25. With this edit, the temperature would only increase for every additional Power module after the first.

Proposal: Civil Liberties

Reached quorum 3 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 10 Jun 2019 21:15:04 UTC

In “Civil Titles”, replace “If a particular Civil Title applies to an Architect’s Site” with:-

If a particular Civil Title applied only to a single Architect’s Site at the time that the previous Drop Post was closed

Following on from Civil Engineering, removing the main race condition. There’s still an issue in the endgame where someone can close the last Drop and DoV before any rivals can claim Titles, should any have changed hands, but we can address that later. It’d be good to agree right now how we actually want Civil Titles to work - should (as is the case now) tied players effectively share them, or should ties be avoided?

Proposal: Architect’s Block

Reached quorum 5 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 07 Jun 2019 15:02:16 UTC

In “Drops”, replace “If all Architects have Built in response to a Drop post” with:-

If all Architects have commented on a Drop post

I can’t tell whether the players who aren’t building are consciously choosing not to - but if that’s the case, it’d be quicker to close Drop posts when everyone has either built a block or announced that they’re not going to build it.

Proposal: Civil Engineering

Fewer than a quorum not voting against. Failed 2-3 by Kevan.

Adminned at 07 Jun 2019 15:01:22 UTC

In “Civil Titles”, replace “If a particular Civil Title applies to an Architect’s Site” with:-

If a particular Civil Title applies to a single Architect’s Site

Remove all Civil Titles held by all Architects.

Removing the race condition where two Architects can meet the requirements of a Civil Title like City Hall, and claim it back and forth from each other endlessly. I think a first-to-qualify mechanic is probably better than an earliest-in-bidding-queue one, as the latter will advantage (possibly even multiple times) whoever is lucky enough to be earlier in the queue when the dynasty ends.

Since under the current rule it’s possible for a contested Title to have gone to the player with quickest reactions to Ideal Dome enacting, this proposal also resets all Civil Titles.

Proposal: The Measure of Cool

Reached quorum 4 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 06 Jun 2019 08:19:27 UTC

Change:

“The Cool House” is a civil title held by the architect with Temperature and Oxygen closest to ideal values

To:

“The Cool House” is a civil title held by the architect with the smallest total difference between their Temperature and Oxygen values and the Ideal Oxygen and Temperature Values. Ties are first broken by the architect with the smaller difference between their temperature and ideal, and then by the architect with the lower temperature.

This title has been a bit ambiguous in the past.

If the Proposal Ideal Dome Exhibition passes, add the following to the first paragraph of the rule “Civil Titles”:

If there is a tie between two or more Architects’ Sites for a given Civil Title, the Architect later in the bidding queue holds said Title.

Adding back the provision for ties for titles, per my comment in Ideal Dome Exhibition.

Proposal: Safe Cracker

Reached quorum 4 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 06 Jun 2019 08:12:56 UTC

In “Research Victory”, replace “and one Architect has a higher Research Rating than every other Architect, that Architect may Monitor their own statistics: if they do so and their Site is safe immediately afterwards, that Architect has achieved victory.” with:-

and an Architect who has Monitored their own statistics in the previous two minutes has both a Safe Site and a higher Research Rating than every other Architect, then that Architect has achieved victory.

To “Health and Safety Regulations”, add:-

A Site is Safe if (and only if) it is not Unsafe.

“Safe” isn’t technically defined by the ruleset. May as well simplify the wording of the Research Victory while I’m here.

Proposal: Ideal Dome Exhibition

Reached quorum 5 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 06 Jun 2019 08:11:40 UTC

Remove all text from the “Civil Titles” rule, except for its bulleted list.

To the start of the rule, add:-

Each Architect holds zero or more Civil Titles, tracked in their section of the Moon Sites wiki page. If a particular Civil Title applies to an Architect’s Site, that Architect may hold that title (removing it from any other Architects who hold that title) by updating the Moon Sites wiki page to that effect.

The Civil Titles are:

Throughout that rule, replace “is a civil title held by the architect with” with:-

is a Civil Title applied to the Site with

Attempting a cleanup, building on previous fixes. Each Civil Title here has a criterion; if you alone meet it, you get that title and hold onto it until someone else can claim it (even if your Site no longer meets its criterion).

As in Settlers of Catan and other games, if I achieve a Title by having three of a thing, someone else later catching up to three won’t move the title - they’ll have to go to four. But if I claim it at three and then fall back down to two for some reason, somebody coming in at three can take it.

Proposal: Self-Promotion 1.1

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 05 Jun 2019 13:41:07 UTC

Add to the rule “Civic Titles”:

If an Architect’s Site meets the criteria for one or more Civil Titles, they may update the Moon Sites page to display the relevant Civil Title/s next to their name.
This is called ‘claiming’.

Add to the rule “Civic Titles”:

An Architect holds a Civil Title if their Site meets the criteria for that Title, and if they have claimed that Title.

Add to the rule “Civic Titles”:

An Architect may claim a Civil Title which is held by another Architect.

I broke it up into three rules to make it easier to agree to one part and object to another, if necessary.

Adminned at 04 Jun 2019 23:22:33 UTC

Add to the rule “Civic Titles”:

An Architect may claim a Civil Title they have achieved the criterion for, by updating the Moon Sites page.

This rule of Kevan’s simplifies what the last few proposals have been aiming for.

Kevan, I hope you don’t mind me proposing this rule you made, you worded it really well!

Proposal: Can You Hear Me, Major Tom?

Reaches quorum, 5-0. Enacted by pokes.

Adminned at 04 Jun 2019 23:22:07 UTC

To “Bidding Queue”, add:-

If an Architect has not posted an entry or comment in the last five days, any Architect (or the Supervisor) may move that Architect’s name to the end of the Bidding Queue, if it is at the front.

If an Architect is close to idling, maybe it’s optimistic to wait another 36 hours for them to make a Drop post.

Proposal: Toot one’s own horn

Self-killed. Failed by pokes.

Adminned at 04 Jun 2019 23:20:12 UTC

In “Civil Titles”, replace all occurrences of “is a civil title held by” with “is a civil title that may be claimed by”.

In “Drops”, after “When an Architect Builds, they must make a comment to that effect on the Drop post whose Block they Built.”, add:

This comment may optionally name one civil title that the Architect wants to claim. If they are able to claim that civil title, that Architect then holds it.

Proposal: Award Ceremony

Fewer than a quorum not voting against, failed 1-4 by Kevan.

Adminned at 03 Jun 2019 16:59:17 UTC

Add to the rule “Civil Titles”:

The current holders of all Civil Titles are tracked in the GNDT.

This might be helpful when trying to decide which Civil Title to aim for when building. However, if it would be too much hassle to set up I understand!

Proposal: Meal For One

Reached quorum 4 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 03 Jun 2019 08:06:20 UTC

In “Thermostat”, replace “Setting the Monitored Architect’s Food to 10 times the number of Hydroponics and Dock Modules” with:-

Setting the Monitored Architect’s Food to twice the number of Hydroponics and Dock Modules

In “Health and Safety Regulations”, replace “Their Food is less than five times the number of Quarters modules” with:-

Their Food is less than the number of Quarters modules

Divide every Architect’s Food by 5.

Easier to see how things stand, if the Food value is directly equal to the number of Quarters that a moonbase can support.

the Architect who’s name is first in the Bidding Queue may make a blog post

Maybe I should be allowed to close old drops (Chariot of the Gods is now 66 hours old), if others are holding off out of politeness. If the next-in-queue is holding off for tactical reasons, we should make that cut into their own 36 hour timeout.

It also doesn’t seem very interesting for me to post any (let alone an endless number of) Drop Posts myself, as I have no skin in the moonbase game here.
