We’ve been referring to rules by name this whole time, though rule names are defined as being flavour text. Time to make it unambiguously legal.

Proposal: The False Levellers

Divide all Souls’ Prominence by 3, rounding up. For each Soul that was a non-Idle Soul at 22:00:00 on Nov 26, 2021, add 2 to their Prominence.

If “Proposal: Scene-Setting” was not enacted, replace “Prominence” with “Contribution” in the above two sentences.

With only one exception (Lemon) this preserves everyone’s ordinal ranking while making the differences a bit less stark, which will hopefully lead to a smoother start to the dynasty…

Proposal: Casting

Create a new rule entitled “Alliances” as follows:

Each Soul may have an Alliance, which consists of the distinct names of no more than two other Souls; a Soul’s Alliance defaults to an empty set. A Soul may change their Alliance as a daily action. A Mortal Soul may not add the name of any Dark Soul to their Alliance, and a Dark Soul may not add the name of any Mortal Soul to their Alliance.

If a Soul has achieved victory in this dynasty, has posted a Declaration of Victory which has been enacted, and did not change their Alliance for at least the 48 hours immediately prior to the posting time of their Declaration of Victory: then that Soul may pass the mantle to a Soul who was named in their Alliance at the posting time of their Declaration of Victory.

The rule “No Collaborations” does not apply to communications between players who each have the other’s names in their Alliance, nor does the prohibition on deals in “Mantle Limitations” apply to players who have each other’s names in their Alliance.

Proposal: Scene-Setting

Replace the term “Contribution” with “Prominence” in the rule “Feudal Contract” and on the dynastic tracking wiki page. Set each Soul’s Prominence to the Contribution that Soul had on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 22:00:00 UTC. Set the Prominence of the Dark Lord to 197.

Create a new rule entitled “Mortality and Darkness” as follows:

Every Soul belongs to either the team Mortals or the team Darkness, by default belonging to the team Mortals; this is publicly tracked. The term “Mortal Soul” is synonymous with “Soul whose team is Mortals.” The term “Dark Soul” is synonymous with “Soul whose team is Darkness.”

Every Soul is either Seen or Unseen, defaulting to Unseen; this is publicly tracked as “Visibility.” If a Soul who is Unseen gains Prominence, that Soul becomes Seen.

If a Soul other than the Dark One is Seen and has zero Prominence, then any player may and should make that Soul Unseen, and when they do so, must simultaneously set that Soul’s team to Mortals (if that Soul was most recently a Dark Soul) or to Darkness (if that Soul was most recently a Mortal Soul).

Assign all Souls with greater than zero Prominence to the team Darkness, and make all such Souls Seen.

Create a new rule entitled “Dark Regard” as follows:

If there is one Mortal Soul whose Prominence is greater than that of each other Mortal Soul, that Soul is Bright.

There may be one Dark Soul who is Favored; this is privately tracked by the Dark One. The Dark One may change the Soul who is Favored at any time. The mantle may be passed between the Dark One and the Soul who is Favored, or vice versa, and the prohibition on deals between players in the rule “Mantle Limitations” does not apply to deals between the Dark One and the Soul who is Favored.

The special case rule “No Collaboration” does not apply to communications among Dark Souls or communications among Unseen Souls.

TLDR: we still have teams, but now all the Heels are more or less Ringwraiths. If you get knocked down from greater-than-0 to 0, you get kicked to the other team. I fully intend to be an unfair emperor who plays favorites.

Proposal: [Core] [Appendix] [Special Case] Official Discordance

Remove the Slack and Slack Channel entries from the appendix.

Replace the Discord Channel entry in the appendix with “A Discord Channel is any channel on the BlogNomic Discord in the BlogNomic Discussion category. All Souls who are in the Discord should have the ability to access all of these channels. To reference a Discord Channel, use a hash (#) followed by the name of that channel (e.g. #random).”

Replace the phrase “the #currentdynasty or #general channels of the BlogNomic Slack” with “Discord Channels”.

Replace all instances of “Slack” in the ruleset with “Discord”.

In addition, remove the text “The Dark One is always permitted to inform the Traitor of their role if the Special Case rule “The Traitor” is active.” from the ruleset.

This has been mooted for a while I think, but now that No Collaboration (which references the Slack) is active, it seems like time to commit to the change.

Repeal all Dynastic Rules except “Mantle Limitations” and “Feudal Contract.”

Deactivate the Special Case Rules “Imperial Deferentials” and “Dynastic Distance.” Activate the Special Case Rules “No Collaboration” and “Malign Emperors.”

Yesterday at 10:10 UTC I erroneously carried out a fighting action with an illegal step. In the first roll I rolled a Miss; in the second I rolled a Taunt; in the third I rerolled both, mistakenly believing that the Taunt allowed me to reroll the held-over Miss, while in fact there’s no provision in the rule for re-rolling previously held over dice.

The person I targeted with that move has already taken their move, and the person they targeted has now also taken their move, so reverting is at this stage not ideal.

Therefore, please uphold the Fighting action taken by the Realtor called Josh on 23/11/2021 as having been legally completed, and then reduce their Contribution by 1.

* Rolling five Fight Dice in the Die Roller

* Rolling X Fight Dice in the Die Roller, where X is equal to 5 minus the number of results kept in the previous step

* Posting a comment to the Dice Roller summing their Duel Total as determined by the foregoing steps

Once a Wrestler has been made the Target in such a Duel action, they may respond by performing the same atomic action, substituting the following step for the first and second steps above:
* Posting a comment in the Die Roller naming the Instigator they are responding to, and indicating that their response is underway

Once both an initial Duel action and a response to it have both been concluded, if the Instigator’s Duel Total for a given Duel was greater than or equal to the Target’s Duel Total in the response for that Duel, then the Instigator gains 1 Contribution and the Target loses 1 Contribution; otherwise, the Target gains 2 Contribution and the Instigator loses 2 Contribution.

You can check it for scams if you want, but this is just a straight copy and paste of the Fighting action, with the changes from “Mixing It Up” incorporated and “gain X Contribution” replaced by “adding X to their Duel Total.” I promise Duel Total isn’t an orphan variable, it’s determinable in a straightforward way from the Dice Roller.

A Promo is a paragraph of text that is posted either as a blog comment or in the commentary area of a Proposal, which mentions by name at least one Wrestler who does not share a team with the person posting the Promo. Posting a Promo is also known as “Cutting a Promo.”

A Face Promo is a Promo which mentions a Wrestler who is named Brendan or mentions a Wrestler who shares a team with the Wrestler named Brendan; a Heel Promo is a Promo which mentions the Wrestler who is named TyGuy6 or mentions a Wrestler who shares a team with the Wrestler named TyGuy6. (While some degree of in-character ad hominem attack may be expected in a promo, Wrestlers should still otherwise abide by the BlogNomic Community Guidelines when considering what language to use.)

Add 1 to the Contribution of each Wrestler who shares a team with Brendan and who has Cut a Heel Promo in the comments of this Proposal.

Each Realtor has a publicly tracked non-negative integer number of Turns, which defaults to 0.

As a daily action, a Leader may set the Turns of every Realtor on their team to 0.

If a Realtor’s status is Inactive, they are not considered to be a Realtor for the remainder of this rule. If a Realtor has been Up for the last 24 consecutive hours, they cease to be Up and become Inactive.

If there is ever not a Realtor who is Up, a randomly selected Realtor becomes up.

If “Tag Team Brawl” passes, then instead of adding “If there is never not a Realtor who is Up, a randomly selected Realtor becomes up.” add

If are ever less than three Realtors who are Up and there is a Realtor who is not Up, a randomly selected Realtor who is not up becomes up.

Letting people stay active in the dynasty but opt out of becoming up. With US holiday next week, I think some of us will want to take a step back from the level of activity required but still be a part of the dynasty.

Each Realtor has an amount of Gas, which is a non-negative integer defaulting to 1, and which is privately tracked by that Realtor’s Leader (which may be themeselves).

Each Leader has an amount of Angle, which is a non-negative integer defaulting to 0, and which is privately tracked by themselves.

A Leader may freely reduce their Angle to increase the Gas of a Realtor on their team by the same amount. At any time, a Leader may notify their Team or any member in it of changes that have been made to the Angle or Gas of any member of their Team.

A Realtor who has a Gas of zero is Down; whether or not a Realtor is Down is publicly tracked. A Realtor who is Down may not be the target of a Fighting action.

Whenever a Realtor becomes unidle for the first time in this dynasty, each Leader gains 5 Angle.

Since we have no Eli Curf to veto things, I’d like to head that off if possible.

In this dynasty, only the Realtors called Brendan or TyGuy6 may achieve Victory. If any other Realtor achieves Victory then they have instead not achieved Victory. This dynasty has no Eli Curf.

The Realtor called Brendan may also be referred to as the Heel. The Realtor called TyGuy6 may also be referred to as the Face.

Each Realtor is a member of a team; the teams are each captained by either the Heel or the Face, and the Heel and the Face may name their teams as they please, although the names of the teams are flavour text. Each Realtor’s team is publicly tracked.

As soon as possible, the Heel and the Face should conduct a public snake draft in the comments to a story post posted for that purpose, with the Heel picking first, selecting from the other Realtors in the game, until each Realtor in the same is in one or the others’ team. They should then update public tracking so that each Realtor’s team information is correct.

Whenever a Realtor becomes unidle for the first time in this dynasty they are added to the team of the Realtor who would have been next to pick in the initial snake draft.

Each Realtor has a Contribution score, which is a non-negative integer that defaults to zero. When the Heel or the Face achieve Victory in this dynasty they are encouraged to retain the Contribution scores of their team and ensure that they confer meaningful advantages to their holders in the next dynasty.

We have a weird situation here, where Brendan has a good scam - a great scam, even - that may not work for purely technical reasons; but the person who would win if it fails doesn’t really deserve it.

Fortunately as ais523 once said, we have a perfectly good mechanism for determining who has won BlogNomic; it’s called a dynasty.

In this situation I propose a short, fun tie-break dynasty. I’m removing myself from contention - I was idle, I didn’t have a scam, I didn’t have the most RP, all I had was a lucky dice roll - so that the two players who really deserved to win The First Dynasty of Trapdoorspyder can duke it out.

This shall be accomplished by rolling DICEX, where X is the total number of RP held by all Realtors who have least 1 RP. No Realtor will be considered to have more than 16 RP for the purposes of this roll. The roll will correspond to a Realtor whose position in the list of Realtors matches their proportion of the total X, starting with the first Realtor in alphabetical order. With fifty-something hours left in the dynasty and no other pending Proposals, it is not mathematically feasible for any player to catch up to TyGuy6’s lead using the existing rules. It would be a shame to have those mechanics be completely pointless right up to the end. Instead of establishing a single victor by first-past-the-post metrics, this gives a minor chance at victory to each player who has committed to actually playing things out. TyGuy6 will almost certainly still be the winner, but if you are not TyGuy6, this option is very much in your self-interest!

A dispute has arisen in an auction post about the legality of Day and Night actions (hereafter Auction Actions) when the author is the auctioneer.

The relevant passage of the ruleset is:

The Realtor who posted each Auction is the Auctioneer for that Auction. An Auction’s Auctioneer may not make a Valid Bid on it, although they may undertake Day or Night actions on it.

A Bid is defined as a comment that ‘contains a single, whole number’, while a Auction Action is defined as a ‘single comment in one of the formats in the following list’, all of which contain the addresses being affected and, therefore, a single, whole number. It is not possible to modify the Auction Action to get around this, as the format of the action comment is prescribed. An auction action therefore is also always a bid.

TyGuy’s argument is that, as the Auctioneer on the Auction, I therefore can’t carry out the Auction Action as the Auction Action is also a bid and I can’t make bids. My argument is twofold:
1) If it is true that an Auction Action is always both a Bid and an Auction Action (and it seems like that’s the case), then the Bid may be illegal, but that doesn’t mean that the Auction Action is illegal as well. The rule explicitly says “An Auction’s Auctioneer [...] may undertake Day or Night actions on it”, and the principle established elsewhere in the ruleset is that the game can selectively accept the legal parts of a text while rejecting the illegal parts of it.

2) If we apply the rule that way consistently then we have… problems. For example: Jumble should have won this auction with a bid of 100, or have been prevented from Repairing due to not having enough Bucks to make the Auction Action comment. It might mean that Auction Actions are all actually illegal, as Auction Actions can only be made when an Auctioneer has no Valid Bid; but if they themselvesare a Valid Bid then the status of those actions becomes very hazy and probably illegal.

The remedy, then, is to make the rule work as intended, I think: uphold that all Day or Night Actions to have taken place prior to the posting of this CfJ were legally carried out, except for those to have been made illegal by a previous CfJ. Uphold my Day Action in this auction post. In the rule Whose to Sell, after the text ‘which contains a single, whole number’, add ‘and is not in the format of a Day or Night Action’.

Each Realtor has an amount of publicly tracked Ghost Dollars, defaulting to 75.

Reduce each Realtor’s Bucks to 40% of its current value, rounded up. For every Buck each Realtor lost in this way, give that Realtor one Ghost Dollar.

The Ghost of Boring Economies has visited our safeboxes, spooking our savings to death!  60% of our cash is now Ghost Dollars, worthless in the physical economy.

Reduce the Bucks of all Realtors by 75. In the rule Bucks, change the number 100 to 45 and remove the second sentence from the rule. If any Realtor has increased the Bucks of all Realtors thanks to an atomic action since this proposal was posted, revert that change. If the enactment of this proposal would require that any Realtor have their Bucks set to a negative value then instead set their Bucks to zero and remove them as the Seller from any properties for which they are the Seller.

The economy at the moment resists making any meaningful decisions about money, as we passively earn it faster than we spend it.
