Proposal: Ownership

Passed 5-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 01 Jun 2008 07:25:11 UTC

If proposal “Owners” fails, this proposal does nothing.

Set the Owner property of the DDA Mothership to the DDA.

Create a new Planar Entity “Doom Guy”.

Set the Owner property of the Awesome Deathship to “Doom Guy”.

Set the Power and Speed properties of the DDA Mothership to 0.

Proposal: Owners

Passed 5-0—Rodlen the Cool

Adminned at 01 Jun 2008 07:24:14 UTC

Add the following text after “Speed: Combination of the speed values of all propulsion on the Spacecraft, divided by the Spacecraft’s size, multiplied by the number of Pilots aboard.” in the rule Spacecraft:

Owner: An organization, non-DDA member planar entity, or the DDA.

Proposal: New Organization

Passed 6-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 01 Jun 2008 07:21:16 UTC

Add the following text to the end of the rule Organizations:

N: ‘’‘Energist Corporation’‘’; B; Members of Energist Corporation have a maximum of 33 energy instead of 30.

Proposal: Bomb Go Boom!

Vetoed—Rodlen

Adminned at 31 May 2008 11:02:12 UTC

Set the timer for the atomic bomb in rule 2.8 Boom to 0.

Come on guys.  I can’t be the only one making proposals.

Proposal: Training Regimens

reached a quorum, final vote 5-0—Yoda
3 votes for the add-on, so it passed as well.

Adminned at 31 May 2008 10:45:58 UTC

Add a new dynastic rule titled “Training” with the following text:

A DDA Member may, if he has not done so in the last 72 hours, make a story post with “Training” followed by a statistic named in rule 2.6 Statistics at the beginning of the title (called a training post).  Any DDA Member may join the training post by making a comment to the post with the text “I’m in.”  The DDA Member who made the training post automatically joins the training post.

After at least 24 hours have passed, any Admin may resolve the post by rolling a DICEX in the GNDT, where X is the number of DDA Members who joined the training post.  If the result is greater than or equal to half qourum, rounded up, each DDA Member who joined the training post receives 1 point in the statistic named in the subject of the post.

We can add penalties when the dice roll fails later.

If at least half of all comments containing counted FOR votes also contain the text “a way out”, insert “unless he states otherwise in the post or as a comment to the post” before the last period of the first paragraph of the rule “Training”.

Proposal: Defining Metadynasties

Passed 8-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 30 May 2008 20:20:55 UTC

Add a sub-rule titled “Metadynasties” to 1.8 Dynasties with the following text:

Some Dynasties (called Metadynasties) have no DDA Commander and are named according to the number of Metadynasties of Blognomic (eg. First Metadynasty).  Metadynasties may only be started by a successful Proposal, CfJ, or as allowed by another rule.

When a Metadynasty begins, the previous Dynasty ends and all Dynastic rules are repealed.  The theme (and appropriate substitution of keywords) may be chosen by any method deemed necessary.

Because there is no DDA Commander, DEFERENTIAL votes are counted as explicit votes of abstention and no one may VETO a Proposal.

Proposal: Dossiers are not just for pilots

Passed 6-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 30 May 2008 20:18:21 UTC

Replace “and what space ship, if any, that DDA Member pilots.” in sub-rule 2.3.3 Dossier with “, what space ship, if any, that DDA Member is aboard, and his title, if he has one.”

Proposal: Tech Ownership Correction Take 2

reached a quorum, final vote 7-0—Yoda
4 votes included the optional text, so the add-on passed.

Adminned at 30 May 2008 16:57:00 UTC

Replace “A DDA Member or Planar Entity may own zero or more pieces of Space Technology (abbr. Tech).” in the first paragraph of the rule 2.4 Technology with

A DDA Member or Planar Entity may be the owner of zero or more pieces of Space Technology (abbr. Tech). DDA Members and Planar Entities may only acquire or lose Tech by way of a successful proposal or as described by a rule.

If half of all counted FOR votes contain the phrase “that wording will do”, all DDA Members lose ownership of any Techs they currently own.

If I’ve got the wording right this time, then all will be right in the world again…ish. If I have got it wrong again, I reckon Amnistar can keep his damn Tech, we can at least fix the rule hole.

Proposal: Stop the yelling

reached a quorum, final vote 3-5—Yoda

Adminned at 30 May 2008 16:51:31 UTC

Mad King Anthony is no longer contained.

Magnus, stop tormenting Anthony.  Now.

Proposal: Tastes like chicken

vetoed—Yoda

Adminned at 30 May 2008 05:54:38 UTC

In rule 2.3.3, replace the sentence “Each DDA Member has a Dossier that tracks the tech they own and what space ship, if any, that DDA Member pilots.” with:

Each DDA Member has a Dossier that tracks the tech they own, what space ship, if any, that DDA Member pilots and a brief description of the DDA Member.

Then, at the end of the same rule add:

A DDA Member may modify er brief description at any time e wishes. The text has no in-game effect by itself.

The Admin who enacts this proposal acquires the CCC Tech.

Proposal: More Bombadiers = More Bombs

reached a quorum, final vote 7-0—Yoda

Adminned at 30 May 2008 05:53:28 UTC

Insert the text “, multiplied by the number of Pilots aboard” at the end of the Speed property in rule 2.5 Spacecraft before the period.

Insert the text “, multiplied by the number of Bombadiers aboard” at the end of the Power property in rule 2.5 Spacecraft before the period.

Replace “Ability: As long as a spacecraft has no pilots, that spacecraft’s speed is 0.” in the sub-sub-rule 2.7.1.1 Pilot with “Ability: A pilot can control the spacecraft.”

Replace “Ability: As long as a spacecraft has no bombadiers, that spacecraft’s power is 0.” in the sub-sub-rule 2.7.1.2 Bombadier with “Ability: A bombadier can fire the weapons on a spacecraft.”

Proposal: Management Continues

reached a quorum, final vote 5-1—Yoda

Adminned at 30 May 2008 05:48:51 UTC

Add the following to the end of the rule Management:

Unmanaged planar entities are treated as if they are managed by the DDA Commander

Planar Management: The Man of the Hour was quite Sour, while the Overlord tried to bring doomsday

The Sour Man of the Hour

Purplebeard

Proposal: Boom again!

reached a quorum, final vote 7-0—Yoda

Adminned at 29 May 2008 20:56:59 UTC

Replace the word “Piloting” in the rule Gunnery with the word Gunnery.

Create a new dynastic rule, titled Boom:

There exists an atomic bomb, which has a timer.  The timer starts at 30.  Every two days that nobody posts a proposal, the timer goes down by 1.  When the timer hits 0, the dynasty ends, all dynastic rules are repealed, and a new metadynasty starts.

Blame the controller(s) of Magnus.

Still more actions.

Magnus swings the big clock at Anthony, angrily.

It hits.

Whirring and buzzing.

“NO, you fool, you activated the time bomb!” says Anthony

Magnus says “Well, you stamped the veto icon on my favorite shirt!” and runs away.

Proposal: Fixing tech ownership holes up

vetoed—Yoda

Adminned at 29 May 2008 16:57:15 UTC

Replace “A DDA Member or Planar Entity may own zero or more pieces of Space Technology (abbr. Tech).” in the first paragraph of the rule 2.4 Technology with

A DDA Member or Planar Entity may be the owner of zero or more pieces of Space Technology (abbr. Tech). DDA Members and Planar Entities may only acquire or lose Tech by way of a successful proposal or as described by a rule.

If this proposal passes, all Tech owned by DDA Members is lost.

This is an attempt to prevent players from acquiring tech simply because there’s no reason they can’t - we need to be more careful about this in future, because this is the sort of thing that accidentally ends a dynasty early…

Proposal: Let’s get some more Organizations.

reached a quorum, final vote 6-0—Yoda

Adminned at 29 May 2008 16:55:45 UTC

Add the following text to the End of Rule 2.3.2 Organizations:

N: Blackwood Institute; B: Members of Blackwood Institute subtracts 3/4 the amount of energy (rounded up) than normal when containing a Planar Entity.
N: Torchwood; B: Members of Torchwood treat all technology as having a Technology Score of 2 less than what is given.
N: The Federation; B; Members of The Federation treat all Spacecraft as having a Crew Size of 10 larger than what is given.

Proposal: One More Thing

Passed 7-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 29 May 2008 08:54:28 UTC

Add the following text to the end of rule 2.1 Container Fields:

New DDA Members start with an Energy value of 0.

Set the Energy statistic of any DDA Member whose Energy is “-” to 0.

Proposal: Keywords

Passes 8-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 29 May 2008 08:53:32 UTC

Add the following to the end of the rule Keywords:

*DDA Commander
*DDA Member

Anthony does something too

Anthony is spotted pulling a veto gun out of the time machine.

Call for Judgment: Keywording Issues

reached a quorum, final vote 0-8—Yoda
No implicit author fors, so jmrdex did not actually vote on his own CfJ.

Adminned at 29 May 2008 07:08:14 UTC

When posting an ascension address, the Emperor can veto any Dynastic Rule and change any keyword; which is why the words “DDA Member” and “DDA Commander” change so often, but “DDA Member” and “DDA Commander” aren’t in the list of keywords. That means that they couldn’t be changed through the ascension address, meaning that every dynasty, the emperor over assumes their power. That means legally the words are still “player” and “emperor”.

Thus, replace all instances of DDA Member and DDA Commander with Player and Emperor, respectively.

Magnus does something

Magnus is spotted carrying a big clock out of the DDA time machine.

Proposal: Warning: Needless Veto Alert

Self-vetoed—Rodlen

Proposal: Pilot to Bombadier!  I Repeat, Pilot to Bombadier!

Passed 6-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 29 May 2008 08:43:58 UTC

Add a new dynastic rule titled “Statistics” with the following text:

Each DDA Member has the following statistics tracked in the GNDT:

Add the sub-rule “Piloting” to the rule “Statistics” with the following text:

Piloting is a numerical statistic that measures how well a DDA member can fly a spacecraft.  The highest legal value for Piloting is 10.  If any DDA member’s Piloting statistic ever becomes more than 10, it is set at 10.  New DDA Members start with a value of 0 for their Piloting statistic.

Add the sub-rule “Gunnery” to the rule “Statistics” with the following text:

Gunnery is a numerical statistic that measures how well a DDA member can fire a weapon.  The highest legal value for Gunnery is 10.  If any DDA member’s Gunnery statistic ever becomes more than 10, it is set at 10.  New DDA Members start with a value of 0 for their Piloting statistic.

Set each DDA Member’s Piloting and Gunnery statistics to 0.  Set the DDA Commander’s Piloting and Gunnery statistics to 10.

Add two new ranks to the sub-rule 2.3.1 Ranks:

N: Pilot; P: DDA Member must have at least 5 in the Piloting skill; B: none
N: Bombadier; P: DDA Member must have at least 5 in the Gunnery skill; B: none

We might consider giving Pilots and Bombadiers some kind of bonus later, other than just being able to Pilot and Bombadier a spaceship.

Add a new dynastic rule titled “Crew Members” with the following text:

Each spaceship may have a number of crew members that does not exceed that spaceship’s Crew Capacity.  Crew members shall receive exactly one title of his choice, except one listed in the sub-rule “Special Titles” (called Special Titles) unless otherwise specified, when he boards a spaceship.  A crew member may not change his title as long as he stays on the ship.  If a crew member ever leaves the spaceship for any reason, he no longer has a title.  Crew members and their respective titles are tracked in the “Spacecraft Register” wiki page.

Special Titles are titles that have specific requirements that may include, but are not limited to, a crew member’s rank, Tech owned, OOO, or other Gamestate information.  Crew members with Special Titles have abilities that can affect Gamestate for as long as they hold that Special Title.

Create a sub-rule “Special Titles” to the rule “Crew Members” with the following text:

Each Special Title has a Name, Requirement, and an Ability and is listed below.

Add a sub-sub-rule “Pilot” to the sub-rule “Special Titles” with the following text:

Requirement: Must have the rank of Pilot.
Ability: As long as a spacecraft has no pilots, that spacecraft’s speed is 0.

Add a sub-sub-rule “Bombadier” to the sub-rule “Special Titles” with the following text:

Requirement: Must have the rank of Bombadier.
Ability: As long as a spacecraft has no bombadiers, that spacecraft’s power is 0.

Replace “‘Spacecraft’ exist.” in the rule 2.5 Spacecraft to “Spacecraft (or Spaceships) exist.”

Whew!  I know this is a lot, but we have plenty of time to revise if needed, since right now we can’t even board the ships yet.

Two More Down

Dogfish and Beane have been inactive for at least 7 days, so they have gone idle.

Proposal: Making up more stuff

reached a quorum, final vote 8-0—Yoda

Create the following Planar Entities:

* Lovecraftian Demigod
* The Cult of Loki
* Metadynastic Entity
* The Control Unit

Create the following Space Tech:

Matter Displacement System(MAD)
Tech Level: 10
Allows the user to retrieve items that have been trapped within a containment field.
Ability: Transfer the ownership of any one tech owned by a Contained Planar to the user.
Cost:15 Energy.

Space Blaster Key (KEY)
Tech Level: 30
Creates a powerful rift in space, capable of displacing Planar Entities across the universe. It is rumored that one of these malfunctioned in Antarctica.
Ability: Uncontain Target Planar Entity (remove the “(Contained)” tag from its entry in the Planar Entities wiki page).
Cost: 25 Energy.

We Need Some Allies

Proposal: Amazing Technicolor Energy

reached a quorum, final vote 6-1-0—Yoda

Adminned at 28 May 2008 15:02:42 UTC

Add a new sub-rule to the Rule ‘Container Fields’ entitled ‘Energy Color’, with the following text:

Each DDA Member’s energy cells are of a specific color, to be tracked in the GNDT under ‘Energy Color’. DDA Members shall initially decide on their Energy Color by posting a comment in the GNDT consisting of the string ‘COLOR’, so that in the Change Log, their Energy Color is the text succeeding the colon in their comment.

I thought we should make use of the COLOR function of the GNDT.

Proposal: Oops.

Because proposal “To the death!” failed, this proposal does nothing.

Adminned at 28 May 2008 10:19:22 UTC

If the Proposal titled “To the death!” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Add the following to the end of the rule Space Combat:

A battle ends when either the DDA or the planar entity is defeated.  If the DDA wins, nothing special happens.  If the planar entity wins, all contained planar entities are no longer contained.

Battle: The fight in space.
Target: Whatever ship a gunner chose to shoot at.

Proposal: To the death!

timed out, final vote 2-5—Yoda

Adminned at 28 May 2008 10:16:53 UTC

After the text “Speed: Combination of the speed values of all propulsion on the Spacecraft, divided by the Spacecraft’s size.” in the rule Spacecraft, add the following text:

Controller: An organization, the DDA, or any amount of planar entities.

Make the DDA the controller of the DDA Mothership.

Make a new planar entity, Doom Guy.

Make Doom Guy the controller of the Awesome Deathship.

Create a new dynastic rule, titled Space Combat, with the following text:

All DDA Members have a gunnery stat and a piloting stat, both tracked in the GNDT.  DDA Members, with the exception of the DDA Commander, start out with 0s in both stats.  The DDA Commander starts with 20s in both stats.

As a daily action, the DDA Commander may post a story post with the word “Attack” in the title, giving the name of a spacecraft controlled by a planar entity.  The DDA Commander may also authorize the use of the DDA Mothership.  Players may post comments on that post to join the battle, specifying what DDA spacecraft they are using and whether they are the gunner or the pilot.  For each spacecraft, there may be one pilot and gunner per spacecraft.  Once there are at least two comments on that post, the DDA Commander may start combat between the DDA spacecraft(s) and the planar entity controlled spacecraft.

A new story post is created by the DDA Commander for the purpose of combat. Players in the battle may comment on that post with their actions.  Gunners may fire at the enemy spacecraft, either to subdue the target or to destroy it.  Pilots may decide to retreat or stay.  Once all players in the battle have posted, the DDA Commander may roll for their actions and the planar entity’s action.

When a pilot retreats, their spacecraft is immediately out of the battle.

Firing at a spacecraft is resolved by first rolling DICEX, where X is 500 minus the size of the target spacecraft plus the armor and speed of the target spacecraft minus the power of the firing spacecraft minus the gunnery of the firing gunner plus the piloting of the defending pilot.  If the result is less than 50, the attack hits.  If a shot to subdue hits, then DICE6 is rolled, and on a result of 1 or 2, the target spacecraft is subdued.  It becomes a DDA spacecraft.  DICE6 is rolled for each piece of spacecraft equipment on the subdued spacecraft, and on a result of 1, that piece of equipment is destroyed.

If the hitting shot was meant to destroy the target spacecraft, then DICE6 is rolled.  On a 1, the spacecraft is destroyed and removed from the Spacecraft Register, but one piece of spacecraft equipment (selected by the DDA Commander) is salvagable and is not destroyed.  That piece of equipment may be added on to any DDA Spacecraft.  On a 2 or 3, the target spacecraft is destroyed, and nothing is salvagable.

Any Planar Entities on a destroyed spacecraft are removed from the Planar Entities wiki page.  Any SE on a destroyed spacecraft is lost forever, unless the rules say so.  Any Planar Entities on a subdued spacecraft are contained.  Any DDA Members on a destroyed spacecraft lose all their energy.

The gunner who fires the shot that destroys or subdues a ship gets 1 point of gunnery.  The pilot on that gunner’s ship gets one point of piloting.

Create a new dynastic rule, titled Keeping It Going:

The DDA Commander may create planar entities, spacecraft, and spacecraft equipment at any time, and may modify any planar entity, spacecraft, or spacecraft equipment the DDA Commander feels has a loophole or major problem.

Yes, this is complex.  But I make the mess of rolls.

Call for Judgment: Chuck or No Chuck

reached a quorum, final vote 2-6—Yoda

Adminned at 29 May 2008 07:04:32 UTC

There seems to be some dispute (mainly between the DDA Commander and some DDA Members) as to whether we should make Chuck Norris a Planar Entity.  The DDA Commander has threatened to veto any proposal even mentioning Chuck Norris, so here is something that the DDA Commander cannot veto.  Let true democracy work.

If this CfJ passes, add Chuck Norris to the list of Planar Entities in the “Planar Entities” wiki page.  If this CfJ fails, let us never mention Chuck Norris again as long as the DDA Commander reigns.

Proposal: This Dynasty Just Keeps Getting Planar and Planar

timed out, final vote 2-5—Yoda

Adminned at 27 May 2008 18:40:15 UTC

Create a dynastic rule titled “Summoning” with the following text:

Each DDA member has a statistic “Summoned Planar Entity” (abbreviated “SPE”), tracked in the GNDT, whose only legal values are “-” and the name of any Planar Entity named in the “Planar Entities” wiki page.  A DDA member (the Summoner) may, if he does not already have a summoned Planar Entity, summon a non-contained Planar Entity that is not already summoned by another DDA member by setting his SPE to the name of that Planar Entity.

A DDA member may, as a daily action, perform the ability of the Planar Entity that he has summoned, unless specified otherwise in the text of the ability.

120 hours (5 days) after a DDA member has summoned a Planar Entity, if that Planar Entity has not been contained, that Planar Entity ceases to be summoned and the DDA member’s SPE statistic is set to “-”.  If a summoned Planar Entity ever becomes contained, it ceases to be summoned and its Summoner’s SPE statistic is set to “-”.

Add the following text to the end of the rule 2.2 Planar Entities:

Planar Entities may also have special abilities that affect the Gamestate.

Add the following text to the end of the sub-rule 2.1.2 Containment:

120 hours (5 days) after a Planar Entity has been contained, it ceases to be contained and the text “(Contained)” shall be removed from the Planar Entity’s entry in the “Planar Entities” wiki page.

If the proposal “Now, let’s try something else” passes, repeal the sub-rule “Management” of rule 2.2 Planar Entities and replace “non-contained Planar Entity” in the rule “Summoning” with “non-contained Allied Planar Entity”.

If the proposal “You’re such a flatlander” passes, replace the text of the sub-rule “Restriction” of the rule 2.1 Container Fields with “A contained Planar Entity may not use its ability for as long as it is contained.”

Proposal: You’re such a flatlander

Adminned at 27 May 2008 08:57:24 UTC

In sub-rule “Containment” of rule “Container Fields”, replace all instances of “30” with “20”.

Add sub-rule “Restriction” to rule “Container Fields”:

A contained Planar Entity may not use abilities of Tech, post comments to Containment story posts nor perform a Restock, for as long as it is Contained.

Create the following Planar Entities:

* Mad King Anthony
* The Sour Man of the Hour
* Random Kaiju God
* Magnus Hirschfeld

Proposal: Now, let’s try something else

Passed 6-1—Rodlen

Adminned at 27 May 2008 08:50:22 UTC

Create sub-rule “Alignment” under rule “Planar Entities”:

Each Planar Entity has an attribute called “Alignment” whose value is either “Allied” or “Enemy”. The Planar Entities wiki page is divided into two sections, “Allied Planars” and “Enemy Planars”. Planars in the Planar Entity wiki page shall be listed in the appropriate section depending on their Alignment. If a DDA Member is a Planar, it’s Alignment is always Allied. If a Planar’s alignment is not specified when created, it is considered Enemy. The DDA Commander may, at any time, modify the Alignment of any Planar Entity, as long as such modification is valid.

Create sub-rule “Management” under rule “Planar Entities”:

Planar Entities may be “Managed” by a DDA Member. This means that the DDA Member that manages a Planar Entity takes all decisions and actions on behalf of that Planar.
To make a Planar become Managed, the DDA Commander will create a story post with “Planar Management:” at the beginning of its title. In the post, the DDA Commander shall go on to enlist any number of Planar Entities, as long as those Planars are not DDA Members. If one of the listed Planars was already managed by a DDA Member, that Planar is no longer Managed.

DDA Members may comment on that post including the name of one of the listed Planars. Each DDA Member can only make up to one comment per Planar Management post. After that, the DDA Commander may send a PM to each one of those DDA Members confirming that the Planar Entity is under their management. Whenever the DDA Member wishes the Planar Entity to take action or make a decision, e shall send a PM to the DDA Commander describing the action or decision. The DDA Commander may then, within a period of 24 hours, complete that action or make that decision public, in compliance to the rules that allow those actions or decisions.

I hope this is not too much of a burden for the DDA comander. At least he has the option of which Planar to allow being managed, and has the option of NOT completing the action (in case he has to idle for a day or if he believes the action makes no sense for the planar). Also this allows players to control both allies and enemies.

Idle me

Create a new sub-rule of Rule 2.3 Military - “Dossier” with the text:

Each DDA Member has a Dossier that tracks the tech they own and what space ship, if any, that DDA Member pilots.  This informoation is tracked on the wikie page Member Dossiers. The Member Dossiers wiki page may not be modified except by a successful proposal or if allowed by another rule. If a new DDA Member becomes unidle or joins the game, their name is added to the Member Dossiers wiki page.

Create the following tech.

Container Cluster Cell (CCC)

Tech Level: 10

A single device focuses a large amount of field energy, amplifying it’s containment capabilities. Single Use.

Ability: Add 30 to your Energy. The user of this Tech loses it.

*No Chuck Norris.

Proposal: Spacecraft Equipment

Passed 7-0.  Example is added.—Rodlen

Adminned at 25 May 2008 09:51:18 UTC

If the Proposal titled “Let’s make our way off this silly planet (Spacecraft)” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Add the following text after the sentence “A positive integer that cannot exceed the ‘Size’ property of the Spacecraft.” in the rule Spacecraft:

Remaining Space: Size - Crew Capacity - Equipment Sizes.  Can’t go below 0.
Power: Combination of the power values of all weapons on the Spacecraft.
Armor: Combination of the armor values of all armor on the Spacecraft.
Speed: Combination of the speed values of all propulsion on the Spacecraft, divided by the Spacecraft’s size.

Create a new sub-rule of Spacecraft titled Equipment:

Spacecraft Equipment(SE) is a kind of item that can be put on a Spacecraft.  Spacecraft Equipment is tracked on the Spacecraft Register wiki page.  Spacecraft Equipment can be added to a spacecraft, if there is enough room.  All SE has a size statistic, which must be a positive integer.  A piece of SE can be on a spacecraft if the Remaining Space of that spacecraft is equal to or larger than the size of the equipment.  Spacecraft equipment comes in three types:

*Weapons: Also have a power stat.  Power can’t go below 1.
*Armor: Has an armor stat that can’t go below 1.
*Propulsion: Has a speed stat that can’t go below 10.

All SE may also have some flavor text.

If at least half of the For votes for this proposal include the text “example”, then create the following pieces of Spacecraft Equipment:

*Light Defence Laser (weapon): Size 1, Power 1
A weak weapon, used as a last resort by most.

*Bargain Armor (armor): Size 1, Armor 1
Gained for a really, really low price.  Wow.

*Orbitus XVI Thrusters (propulsion): Size 70, Speed 1000
Custom-made thrusters for the Orbitus XVI.  Very powerful, but they still only move the Orbitus slightly.

Add all three items to the DDA Mothership, if it exists.

If half or more of the for votes include the text “Power to the Commander!” then create the following dynastic rule, titled Commander Powers:

The DDA Commander may create planar entities, spacecraft equipment, and spacecraft at any time.

Proposal: Another Pass at the DRC

timed out, final vote 6-0—Yoda

Adminned at 25 May 2008 06:26:49 UTC

If the proposal “Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with your new Dimensional Rift Container” passes, this proposal does nothing.

Add a sub-rule titled “Containment” to the rule “Container Fields” with the following text:

As a weekly action, a DDA member may make a story post with the text “Contain” followed by the name of an un-contained Planar Entity at the beginning of the title.  Any DDA member may then make a comment to that entry that includes an integer number of energy cells whose absolute value does not exceed that DDA member’s Energy statistic.  That DDA member shall then subtract the absolute value of the number in his comment from his energy statistic.

After 24 hours have passed since the story post was posted, any Admin may resolve the post by adding up all the numbers in the comments.  If the total is less than 30, the Planar Entity has escaped.  If the total is greater than or equal to 30, the Planar Entity has been contained and the text “(Contained)” is appended to the end of that Planar Entity’s entry in the “Planar Entities” wiki page.

Proposal: Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with your new Dimensional Rift Container

vetoed—Yoda

Adminned at 24 May 2008 17:51:21 UTC

Create sub-rule “Containment” under rule “Container Fields”:

Any DDA Member may, as a weekly action, create a story post with the text “[Contain]” at the beginning of it’s title. Such a story post shall include the name of a Planar Entity that needs to be contained ASAP, as well as the reasons for that action. Each DDA Member may then comment on that post and include any amount of FOR or AGAINST icons, as long as e doesn’t include more icons than the amount of energy e possess. For each icon included by emself, the DDA Member shall reduce er own energy by 1 then.

After 24 hours have passed, any DDA Member may declare the Container Field ready by making a comment with the text “Ready!” and including a tally of the count of FOR icons and AGAINST icons. If the number of AGAINST icons equals or exceeds the number of FOR icons, the Planar Entity stated in the story post becomes Contained for 5 days (120 hours).

Yes, right now, there is no definition for “Contained” yet, but perhaps somebody has an idea to contribute to it.

Proposal: Color Schemes Are Not Gamestate

timed out, final vote 6-2—Yoda

Adminned at 24 May 2008 17:50:36 UTC

Replace the text

Gamestate is defined as any information which the Ruleset regulates the alteration of, such as DDA Members’ names and the blog colour scheme.

in the Glossary with the following text:

Gamestate is defined as any information which the Ruleset regulates the alteration of, such as DDA Members’ names.

Fix to ascension issues

Currently there are no rules governing changes to the color scheme, the head of the blog, and the veto icon, which means that they either can’t be changed except by proposal or they aren’t gamestate (“information which the Ruleset regulates the alteration of”, though color scheme is explicitly listed as an example).

Also, rule 1.9 allows new Commanders to replace “any keywords” with new ones. This is one of three places “keywords” are referred to in the ruleset. The other two are the glosary entry beginning “A keyword defined by a rule supersedes the normal English usage of the word.” and as a header in the glossary (3.3) under which is the definition of “quorum”.

Assuming the idea is to have the head, color scheme, veto icon, and the terms “DDA Member” and “DDA Commander” changeable by a new Commander when they take office and nothing else (other than the wiping of any dynastic rules), here’s a fix for your consideration.

Add “The new DDA Commander then has seven days to change the color scheme, the blog’s header, and the veto icon to his liking.” to the end of the penultimate paragraph of Rule 1.9.

Move all text from Rule 3.3 to the main section of the glossary above Rule 3.1.

Add
“*DDA Member
*DDA Commander”
to Rule 3.3.

Change the sixth bullet point of the Glossary to read “A ‘’‘term’‘’ defined by a rule supersedes the normal English usage of the word. A ‘’‘term’‘’ defined in this glossary supersedes that defined by a rule. (eg. A rule specifying ‘Bananas are Blue’ cannot be overruled by posting a dictionary definition or a photo of a banana, and a rule specifying ‘every day is Sunday’ will be overruled by the glossary entry below.)”

Proposal: Let’s make our way off this silly planet (Spacecraft)

Passed 8-0—Rodlen

Mothership launched

Adminned at 24 May 2008 09:04:53 UTC

Create a new Dynastic rule “Spacecraft” with the following text:

‘Spacecraft’ exist. There exists a wiki page called ‘Spacecraft Register’ in which the details of all existing Spacecraft are kept. Each Spacecraft has all of it’s properties (except for it’s name) listed under a sub-heading which is named the same as the Spacecraft, on the ‘Spacecraft Register’ wiki page.

The properties of the Spacecraft shall include:
Name: A name unique amongst Spacecraft that cannot exceed 30 characters.
Size: A positive integer.
Crew Capacity: A positive integer that cannot exceed the ‘Size’ property of the Spacecraft.

The properties of the Spacecraft may include:
Full Title: An alternative name that can be used instead of the name above, within flavor text, which has no character limit. This should be used in favour of the ‘Name’ property if a ship should have a long, cumbersome title for story post purposes.
Design Description: A block of flavor text describing the aesthetics of the Spacecraft.

A Spacecraft may only be created or modified through a successful proposal or as described by a rule.

Set the ‘Spacecraft Roster’ page to a blank wiki page.
If more than half of all comments containing counted FOR votes also contain the text “launch the mothership”, create a Spacecraft with the following properties:

Name: DDA Mothership
Size: 250
Crew Capacity: 100
Full Title: ‘Orbitus XVI’ Dimensional Defence Agency Interplanetary HQ
Design Description: A incomparably large craft resembling a brick in design. In looking at it, it is apparent no attempt has been made to make the ship look aesthetically pleasing, functionality apparently being far preferred.

Proposal: EnergEZ

Vetoed - Rodlen

Adminned at 24 May 2008 09:03:39 UTC

If the Proposal titled “A Little more Fleshed out fun!” failed, this Proposal does nothing.
If the Proposal titled “What lies in the future?” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Add the following text to the end of the rule Organizations:

N:EnergEZ;B:Members of EnergEZ are the only DDA Members able to use the Energy Drainer.

Create the following tech:

  Energy Drainer (END)
  Tech Level: 10

This device can drain energy from assorted technology. Created by the EnergEZ corporation.

Ability: Once per week, can drain 2DICE2 energy from any player and give that energy to the user of this tech.
  Cost: 2

Proposal: What lies in the future?

Passed 7-0—Commander Rodlen

Adminned at 24 May 2008 08:59:25 UTC

Create a new rule, “Technology”:

A DDA Member or Planar Entity may own zero or more pieces of Space Technology (abbr. Tech). Only Tech defined within the Space Tech wiki page is elegible for owning. Each Tech must have its own section within the Space Tech wiki page, where it’s properties are defined. A Tech’s properties include it’s Name, Tech Level, Description, Ability, Energy Cost and Code. No two Tech’s may share their name. Tech Level must be a positive integer equal to or lower than 100. Description is a block of flavor text that gives background information on the Tech. A Code is a three letters acronym for the Tech that may be used as an abbreviation when refering to it, and it appears in parenthesis next to the Tech’s name in the Space Tech wiki page.

As a daily action, a DDA Member who owns Tech may use that Tech’s ability by paying the amount of Energy stated in the Energy Cost of that Tech and following any instructions specified on it. The Energy Cost of a Tech must be an integer greater than or equal to 2 and no larger than 30. If a Tech’s ability targets a DDA Member, a story post must be created anouncing the target within 12 and 24 hours prior to the use of the ability. The User of a Tech is the DDA Member who activated it.

The Space Tech wiki page may not be modified unless by a successful proposal or as described by a rule. Each DDA Member keeps track of what Tech e owns in the GNDT in a column named Tech. The value of the Tech column is a list of Tech Code’s separated by commas, or “-” if the DDA Member owns no Tech. If a Planar Entity that is not a DDA Member owns any Tech, it will be tracked in the Planar Entities wiki page under that Planar’s name.

Set the Space Tech wiki page to a blank page.
Create the following Tech:

Displacer Shield (DPS)
Tech Level: 15

By investing this device with energy, it creates a minor rift in space that can protect the DDA Member from incoming attacks for a short period of time.

Ability: Negate all the effects of the next Tech ability that targets the user.
Cost: 5 Energy.

Remove all Planar Entities created before the passing of the proposal That the Heck is That Thing?.

Ruleset draft, take two, take two

With all the talk about changing the ascension rule and other parts of the core ruleset going on, I’d like to focus your attention on a post I made a few months ago, which garnered little to no attention at the time:

Two years ago, some intrepid captains created a Ruleset draft to try and create a possible replacement for the ruleset (be sure to check the discussion page for some insights into the changes they proposed). In an effort not to let this hard work go to waste, I created an updated draft, incorporating many elements from the first one. The formatting could use some work, but all in all it seems functional.

If enough captains see potential in this, we could refine it further, and perhaps ultimately use it to replace the current ruleset.

To that end, I humbly invite everyone to check out the new draft, improve it where necessary, and leave any remarks on the discussion page.

I’m reposting this partly because I’m stubborn, and partly because the current crowd seems more interested in and capable of refining the ruleset to improve it.

I believe this method of altering the ruleset enables us to fix multiple issues at once, and create a more powerful, more consice and easier to understand ruleset.

Here are some questions to get some discussion going on:
1. Do you think the core ruleset could be improved?
2. Do you think the core ruleset needs to be improved?
3. Do you think this method (multiple players contributing towards creating an entire new ruleset) is the way to do it? If not, what is?
4. If so, would you be willing to invest some time and effort towards accomplishing this goal?

Let’s discuss spacecraft

I’m hoping this is the kind of sci-fi where everybody can own or at least be on a spacecraft/part of a spacecraft’s crew for a considerable part of the game, because being landlocked makes for uninteresting options. I’m not quite versed enough in Nomic to propose a rule introducing spacecraft as objects, in whatever form, into the game; also, if there are spacecraft, will they just be an extension of people’s characters (like Weapons) or will they be (wiki-tracked?) independent entities, allowing for multiple people to man the same craft? Could be nice opportunities for missions if people could pool any stats they have into one spacecraft-based group, or for organisations to actually have co-operation within them by having far less spacecraft than players.

Am I in over my head? Discuss. Please tell me bluntly if I’ve misunderstood what people are trying to make entirely.

If the proposal Ranking fails, this proposal has no effect.

Rename the rule “Ranking” to “Military” and rewrite the text of the rule to read:

Each DDA Members has a Rank, and Organization of Origin (OOO) tracked in the GDNT.  A DDA Member’s Rank may be changed as a daily action to any oner of the ranks listed in the rule “Ranks”.  If at anytime a DDA Member has their Rank removed, that DDA Member’s Rank is set to Private.  A Member’s Organization of Origin (OOO) cannot be changed unless their origin is current “-“ or specified otherwise within the rules. A DDA Member’s Organization of Orgin may only ever be “-“ or an Organization listed in the rule “Organizations”.

Add to the beginning of the rule “Ranks” the text:

Each Rank has a Name (N), a Prerequisite (P), and a Benefit(B).

Rewrite the current ranks to read:

N:Private; P: None; B: None
N:Commander; P: DDA Member must be the DDA Commander; B: The Commander may, as a weekly action, change the Rank of any one DDA Member to any other rank, even if they do not meet the prerequisite for that Rank.
N:Energy ClerK;P: DDA Members must have at least 25 Energy, and no other DDA Member may have the rank of Energy Clerk; B: The Energy Clerk may, as a weekly action, increase the Energy of any other DDA Member by 20.

Created a new sub-rule “Organizations” with the text:

Each Organization has a Name (N) and a Benefit (B)

N: X-Com; B: Members of X-Com gain an additiona 2 Energy when performing a Restock

I have a few ideas:

*A leadership statistic.

*A rank for players with at least 1 point in leadership.

*Missions (yes, I know we did missions last dynasty)

*Outside allied groups (I just feel like getting X-Com into this mess)

*Planar being types

*Recruitment and command of troops (based on leadership stat)

Upon this proposal’s passing the Fourth Metadynasty begins immediately. All pending proposals fail.

Change all instances in the ruleset of “DDA Member” to “Player” and of “DDA Commander” to “Victor”.

Repeal all current dynastic rules and create a new one entitled “Contestants” with text “Only contestants may declare victory. Rodlen and Yoda are contestants.”

Create a second dynastic rule entitled “Factions” with text “Players’ faction is tracked in the GNDT. Any non-contestant player may change their faction to the name of any contestant or to ‘neutral’ at any time.” Set Yoda’s faction to “Yoda” and Rodlen’s faction to “Rodlen”. Set all other player’s faction to “neutral”.

Create a new rule “Planar Entities”:

There exist a number of beings known as Planar Entities, also known simply as Planars.
Each Planar that is recognized will be listed under the Planar Entities wiki page. The Planar Entities wiki page may not be modified except by a successful proposal or if allowed by another rule.
If a successful proposal recognizes a Planar Entity, it shall be added to the Planar Entities wiki page.

Purplebeard is a Planar Entity.

Just to explain: Planar Entities need not be players, however Rodlen already said PB came from the portal in his AA, so I might as well make PB a Planar too. We could also create a rule to have Allied Planars and Enemy Planars, in the future. Or something like that.

Proposal: We need something to accomplish our mission with

Passed 8-0—Rodlen

Adminned at 22 May 2008 07:20:10 UTC

Create a new rule titled “Container Fields”, which reads:

Each DDA Member is equipped with an advanced energy field device known as a “Dimensional Rift Container” (abbr. DRC) as well as a number of energy cells that are required to operate it.
Each DDA Member shall track the amount of energy cells e owns in the GNDT, under a column named “Energy”, whose value must always be a positive integer (or zero), and may never exceed 30 (if it would exceed 30, it is set to 30 instead).

Create a sub-rule to rule “Container Fields” named “Energy Restock”, which reads:

Once per week, a DDA Member may “Restock” by increasing er energy cells by 10 and including the word “Restock” in er GNDT comment where e increases er cells.

The idea is that we can use this to stop the things that come from the Portal, but they should not be used as currency (hence the 30 limit) or as hit-points (hence the high restock ratio) and more like a strategic resource that we can spend to have success on a mission or something like that. The high restock rate also means we can have plenty of action in a single week.

It really should not be possible to have a DOV, but no hiatus.  Here goes:

Add the following text to the end of Victory and Ascension:

Proposal: Compromise

Rules abuse: because the Ascension Address ended the hiatus, and a DOV only starts a hiatus, there is a DOV, but no hiatus.  Heh. Therefore this proposal is legal.

I don’t want this battle to go the way of Anthony vs. Kevan, as I don’t want either Yoda or I to leave Blognomic in a huff.  Therefore, I propose this compromise:

Create a new dynastic rule titled Second in Command:

Yoda is the Second in Command, and is counted as a second DDA Commander for all purposes.

Failed due to quorum of against votes—Rodlen

Adminned at 22 May 2008 07:23:56 UTC

Its very clear that we have a dispute on who exectly has claimed victory here. Yoda brings up the point that the proposal “No mr. dynasty, i expect you to die” was enacted a few hrs before the min. as stated in rule 1.5. Rodlen belives that Yoda’s victory is nulled because it followed the “if these two things happen” statement. From what i see, Rodlen’s DoV is nulled do to the proposal that led to it has violated the eneacting rules and Yoda’s is null not because of a clause but he went idle after his was enacted (I see that as passing victoy to someone else). Therefore we should let the nomic public decide who declares victory. If this CoJ passes, all DoV’s are nulled and Rodlen and Yoda shall state their case as to why the should be allowed to state victory.

I’m prob not the only one who has no clue how else to settle this.

My Ascension Address

Ahem.

The year is 2169.

Scientists working with interdimensional portal development made some big mistakes.  Because of that, a large interdimensional portal covers the whole of Antarctica.

We here in the Dimensional Defence Agency must stop anything from coming out of that portal.

The DDA is led by I, Rodlen, and Yoda is my second in command.

Already, somebody calling himself Overlord Purplebeard has escaped from the portal.

Repeal all dynastic rules.  Replace all mentions of Henchman with DDA Member and all mentions of Overlord with DDA Commander in the ruleset.

The proposal “No, mr. Dynasty. I expect you to die.” was not enacted properly.  According to the time stamps, the proposal was enacted just over 8 hours after it was proposed.  Rule 1.5 Enactment states that a proposal may be enacted if “it has a number of FOR votes that exceed or equal Quorum, has been open for voting for at least 12 hours, and has not been vetoed or self-killed” (emphasis mine).

The proposal ”[Evil] Gifts From the Public Treasury” was enacted properly; therefore, I should be the new Emperor.

I’m not sure whether I should have posted this as a blog post - I guess I just want everyone to be aware. The rules were ambiguous on what a Henchman should do if they make a roll that takes the action out of their own hands.

I’m finding myself with less and less time to perform my overlordly duties, and I think it’s probably better to start anew with a more worthy overlord. It’s been fun while it lasted, and I definitely enjoyed vetoing all those proposals (a record amount for blognomic, I think).

Create a new Rule, “Time Limit”:

If no Henchman achieves victory before May 24 0:00 AM, the Henchman with the highest numeric attributes added together, other than the Overlord, achieves victory.

The Overlord’s Pet Thread

This proposal passed, so as a game action the Overlord should, at his leisure, choose his favorite from the list of pet names submitted by our Henchmen.

Proposal: request promotion to evil admin

Passed 6-0.—Rodlen, Admin of Kings

Adminned at 20 May 2008 14:06:54 UTC

After seeing that Rodlan has been the only active admin the past few days I would like to become an admin. I’ve only gone inactive once during my time on blognomic and I check the site almost round the clock. I promise to be a helpful admin if allowed.

Henchman missing

Henchman Ivan Hope has not attended our meetings for 8 days, and is therefore presumed idle.

Quorum is 6.

Count me in

I’d like to join the game.

Anybody home?

Where is everyone? There are pending proposals, but none of the Admins seem to be around!  I suppose Silence is golden.

Proposal: Mobsters and Might

Passed 5-0.—Rodlen is Cool

Adminned at 19 May 2008 10:04:33 UTC

Create the following new enemy group:

Mobsters
Leader: Tommy
Approximate number of members: 126
Weapons: Tommy gun
Location: North America

Create the following new weapon:

Name: Stinky old sock
Requirements: 4 GL (Goatees block the smell)
Boons: 1 MS
Power: 3
Stock: Yes

Turns out that our leader made some powerful enemies.  Plus, SOMEBODY has not been washing their socks…

This is a required field.

Aaronwinborne and Dustin are now idle.
Playercount is 11. Quorum is 6.

I’m going to continue to be running at my current checking-in-once-every-few-days level of activity for a while, due to personal issues, but that shouldn’t last too much longer. (I’d say a week at the outside, and that attempts to take Hofstadter’s Law into account.)

Proposal: [Evil] Weary Traveler

Failed 4-1. —Rodlen is Cooler than You

Adminned at 19 May 2008 10:02:33 UTC

Add a new rule, Weary Traveler:

The first Henchman to create a post titled “Weary Traveler” with proof from the GNDT that they have visited all seven Continents will be named the Weary Traveler. Other Henchmen may then respond with which tithe to bequeath the Weary Traveler, MS or INT or both. Any Henchman that does not respond withing 48 hours will be assumed to have have responded “both”. Each indicated statistic will be modified +3 for the Weary Traveler and -3 for the other Henchmen.

I profess not to know offhand who’s closest.

Proposal: The Overlord Needs An Evil Companion In His Old Age

Passed 7-0—Rodlen, the BEST ADMIN EVER KNOWN TO BLOGNOMIC!

Note: No new rule was created stating what the Evil Pet is, the Overlord can’t choose an evil pet.

Adminned at 19 May 2008 10:02:51 UTC

Henchmen may suggest any number of name and animal pairs (“Jojo the Kangaroo”) before this Proposal’s close.

If this Proposal passes, the Overlord will choose his official Evil Pet from these entries and award DICE10 MS to the Henchman that named it.

I Shall Return

I am flattered that you guys voted me in; however, I completely did not expect that proposal to pass.  As such, I need to idle, but I will be back in about 2 weeks to claim my victory (provided someone else does not beat me to it).  I am sorry for the inconvenience.  So please continue on your quest for world domination until I return.

In other news, Spikebrennan is the randomly chosen henchman, so e will be receiving benefits in the next dynasty (if I get back before someone else wins, that is).

Just so we’re clear

From rule 3.1:

Italicized text is not considered part of the ruleset and may be used to clarify rules with examples, notes, and flavor text.

(emphasis mine)

This rule does not apply to proposals.

Declaration of Victory: I am your new Overlord

Failed. No for votes. —Rodlen, Greatest Admin Ever

Adminned at 15 May 2008 13:21:08 UTC

The last proposal to pass says, “* I achieve victory in the current dynasty.”

So, I achieve victory in the current dynasty.

Thank you guys.

Proposal: Accidental Doomsday

4 for.  Passed.—Rodlen the Strong

Adminned at 15 May 2008 14:22:04 UTC

Add the following sub-rule to 2.10 Doomsday Device:

As a daily action, a Henchman may Tinker with the Doomsday Device by rolling DICE97. If the roll was lower than the number of existing entries describing parts of the Device, then the Henchman has accidentally activated the Device, and the Overlord will create an appropriate story post and poll as described in 2.10 Doomsday Device. If the roll was equal to that number of parts, then the Henchman has banged eir head and eir INT is decreased by 5. If the roll was greater than that number of parts, then lugging around those spaceship parts was a good work-out and the Henchman’s MS is increased by 1.

Weapon Research: Poisonous Rail Gun

Name: Poisonous Rail Gun
Requirements: Your name is arthexis.
Power: Set your Standing to 800 in the GNDT. The power of this weapon is equal to your Standing after the increase.
Stock: No.

Proposal: [Evil] Gifts From the Public Treasury

Passes 5-4.  Yoda wins.—Rodlen the Annoyed

Adminned at 14 May 2008 11:00:27 UTC

Each Henchman who votes FOR this proposal gains the following:

* 3 MS
* 3 INT
* 3 GL
* 2 FPT

I also give my word that a randomly chosen Henchman who votes FOR this proposal other than myself will receive extra bonuses in the next dynasty, provided two things occur:

* This proposal passes, and
* I achieve victory in the current dynasty.

Proposal: Time Limit on Research

Failed 2-2-2—Rodlen the Great

Adminned at 14 May 2008 08:36:05 UTC

Add the following text to the end of the second paragraph of the sub-rule “Research” of the rule “Weapons”:

After 4 days have passed since the story post was posted, no more comments may be made on that story post.  If, at that time, the Weapon’s stock is set to “No”, the Weapon is removed from the SZ.

Operation: Are there crumbs on my Goatee?

Requirements: Any Henchman in Europe, Asia or Africa may join.

Effects: Upon joining, each participant makes a roll of X + DICEY, where Y is the Henchman’s MS + GL and X is the Power of that Henchman’s weapon . If the roll equals or exceeds 20, that Henchman assassinates one member of the French Baguette Maniacs (henceforth, the enemy group) and gains 2 MS. If the roll was less than 10, that Henchman is shot down and loses 2 MS. Each henchman that successfully killed an enemy may roll again until e is shot down or decides to stop rolling. If all the members of the enemy group are defeated, the operation is a success, otherwise it fails.

Success: Eliminate the enemy group. If they had any weapon that is also in our SZ but is out of stock, make that weapon become in stock. For each participating henchman (even those that where defeated) the Influence in Europe is raised by 3, and each participant’s standing is raised by 3.

Failure: Add 2DICE6 Members to the enemy group. The Influence in Europe drops by 10 and the Overlord’s standing drops by the same amount.

Proposal: Dueling

Illegally turned into a proposal.
-Purplebeard

Adminned at 12 May 2008 02:13:50 UTC

Create a new rule “Dueling” because we’re all girly men right now.

As a daily action, a Henchman may post a Duel Challenge in the Dueling Thread by announcing a target Henchman and a number of MS that is at stake, which must be lower than the lowest current unequipped MS of both Henchmen.

The target Henchman has 48 hours to Accept the challenge in the Dueling Thread, or the target loses 1 Standing.

If the Duel is Accepted, the target Henchman rolls D2. If 1 is rolled the challenger wins, if 2 is rolled the accepter wins.

After such roll, increase the MS of the winner by the stated stake, equally decrease the MS of the non-winner, and increase the Standing of the winner by 1.

Create a new thread called Dueling Thread and link it in the sidebar.

Europe’s influence increases by 5.

Adminned at 11 May 2008 19:44:47 UTC

Let’s take on the Baguette Maniacs!

Create the following Weapon:

Name: French Bread Machine Guns
Requirements: 10 GL, 15 INT
Boons: +5 MS
Power: Equal to the half the Henchman’s GL.
Stock: No

Create the following Evil Operation:

Proposal: Shadier Politics

timed out and reached a quorum, final vote 8-0—Yoda
North America’s influence increases by 5.

Adminned at 11 May 2008 19:38:25 UTC

Replace the text “increased by 2” in the rule “Politics” (2.14) with the text “increased by 5”.

The effect of this change applies to the enactment of this proposal.

This should help up to take over the world a little quicker.

Proposal: Making Airfare More Affordable

timed out, final vote 6-0—Yoda
North America’s influence increases by 2.

Adminned at 11 May 2008 19:35:38 UTC

Replace the text “as a weekly action” in the rule “Continents” (2.1) with “if they have not done so in the past 72 hours”.

Remove the text “, as a daily action,” from the rule “Free Plane Tickets” (2.12).

Replace the second paragraph of the rule “Frequent Flyer Miles” (2.13) with the following text:

A Henchman with at least 5 FFMs may deduct 5 from their FFM statistic to receive 1 FPT.

Proposal: I want a custom weapon!

timed out, final vote 5-3—Yoda
Europe’s influence increases by 2.

Adminned at 11 May 2008 19:31:06 UTC

Change the last line of rule “Weapons” so it reads:

A Weapon may be created or modified only through a successful proposal, within the Success clause of an Evil Operation or by Weapon Research.

Add sub-rule “Research” to“Weapons”:

As a weekly action, a Henchman with an INT of 20 or more may make a Weapon Research (abbr. WR) by creating a Story Post with the text “Weapon Research:” at the beginning of it’s title, followed by the name of the Weapon e intends to create. The story post should go on to describe a single weapon, enumerating all if it’s stats. If the story post defines a valid weapon that doesn’t already exist (ie. there is not another weapon in the SZ with the same name), that Henchman may add it to the SZ, and the new weapon’s Stock stat is set to No.

As a daily action a Henchman with an INT of 15 or more may make a WR Roll, by making a comment to a WR story post and including an INT + GL roll. (A Henchman may make multiple rolls for a single weapon, but each is a daily action). When five or more rolls that equal or exceed 20 have been made on a WR post, any Henchman may set that Weapon’s stock to Yes.

With this we can create more weapons without clogging up the proposal queue.

Proposal: Mass Effects 2

Times out 5-0.
-Ornithopter

Adminned at 11 May 2008 08:54:50 UTC

Create a new Rule called “Events”:

Evil Operations are Events.
Spotting an Agent is an Event.

The Henchman who resolves an Event is the Resolver.
Each Henchman that participated in an Event (by following the rules of participation stated in that event’s definition) is a Participant.

Add to the stat listing under Rule “Weapons”:

Boons: A list of numerical modifiers and their asociated attributes. Whenever a Henchman joins an Event, if that event requires that Henchman’s attributes to be calculated, the henchman shall apply each of the modifiers from er weapon’s boon stat to their respective attributes, but only for the purpose of calculating those values (that is, no change is made to er GNDT attributes). Whenever an Event is resolved, if the resolver is required to caluculate the attributes of the Participants, for each Participant, the Resolver shall apply that Participant’s boon modifiers from any weapon e is using, but only for the purpose of calculating those values (that is, no change is made to the Participant’s GNDT attributes). If any of the items in the Boons list is not an attribute modifier, it is ignored. Modifiers shall always be applied from left to right.

Right now this version allows modifiers on joining and resolving, but does not allow any other actions tacked on to a weapon’s effects. If people want that, it should be a separate weapon stat.

Dorothy, on the other hand, is located in Kansas, North America in a small farm with her Uncle Henry, Aunt Em, and dog Toto.  She must be stopped before she wreaks any more havoc on our plans.

If the Proposal titled “Mutually Assured Destruction” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Effects: The effects of a Weapon may either be a) a list of numerical bonuses and their associated attributes b) a list of actions to perform c) a combination of a and b. When a rule states that an Event is resolved, it’s Resolver shall perform the following actions for each Participant: a) perform each action listed in that Participant’s weapon (if it implies a modification of non-attributes gamestate, the Participant is the object of that modification, not the Resolver) b) add any numerical bonuses to the Participant’s associated attributes; this modification of attributes is not permanent and not tracked in the GNDT, it shall only apply during the resolution of the event.

Whew… that was a little complex.

Rewrite Rule “Weapons” so that it reads:

Weapons exist. The Storage Zone (SZ) wiki page is used to keep track of weapons, their stats, and whether we have them in stock or not. The stats for a weapon are:

Name: The name of the Weapon. No two weapons may have the same name. This stat is mandatory.
Requirements: A Henchman may not equip this Weapon if any of the statements on the Requirements section evaluate to false for that Henchman. If the requirements cannot be evaluated, e may not equip the Weapon.  This stat is optional.
Power: A positive integer or a set of instructions to calculate such number. On the latter case, if an effect asks for a Weapon’s power, it will be the resulting integer after evaluation. If the instructions cannot be evaluated, its power is 1. This stat is optional.
Stock:
Must either be “Yes” (the Weapon is in stock) or “No” (the Weapon is not on stock). This stat is always No if the Power of a weapon is not stated.

A Weapon may be created or modified only through a successful proposal or within the Success clause of an Evil Operation.

Add the sub-rule “Weapon” to Rule “Attributes”

Weapon specifies what kind of Weapon the Henchman is using. The only legal values for this attribute are either “Unarmed” or any one of the Weapons listed in the Storage Zone that is currently in stock.
A Henchman may change er weapon as a daily action as long as e located on Antarctica, the Weapon is in stock, and all the Requirements of that Weapon evaluate to true for er (or if the Weapon is in stock but has no Requirements).

Of course, if this passes, some Weapons in the SZ may become invalid. I will fix that… later. With the new system, the idea is to use the power of a weapon for something. Perhaps Power + Ms = number of deaths?

Proposal: Bringing Balance

timed out, final vote 6-1—Yoda
North America’s Influence increases by 2.

Adminned at 08 May 2008 19:30:11 UTC

Rewrite the second paragraph of the rule “Secret Agents” to read as follows:

Changes in bold.

For the next 24 hours after the post was created, any Henchman with at least 2 GL who is located on the continent stated may respond to it by making a comment including a DICEX roll where X is their INT + MS. If the result of the roll is less than 20, the Henchman fails to take down the Agent, loses 2 GL and is sent to Antarctica. If the result of the roll is 20 or greater, the Agent is taken down and no more comments are allowed on that story post, the Influence on that continent is increased by 6 and the Henchman who took the Agent down increases er Standing by the same amount.

Add 2 to Darknight’s Standing, and subtract 2 from Darknight’s GL.

Operation: Mad Quarkssed

We have got word that by capturing some Scientists, we can finish the Doomsday Device much faster. Thereby, I suggest we go forth and attempt to take the most Scientists we can back to Antarctica and make them submit to us for the great Overlord!

Requirements: Any Henchman in Europe may join this Operation.

Effects:
Each henchman makes a Roll of DICEX where X is that Henchmans MS + GL, which represents the use of indiscriminate force to nab a Scientist and bring it back to our HQ. If that Henchman has moved back to Antarctica before the Operation is resolved and er roll was 10 or higher, that Henchman successfully caught a Scientist and brought it back. For each Scientist caught, the Mad Scientist’s number of members is reduced by one. If at least one scientist is captured, the operation succeeds, otherwise it fails.

Success:
Each Henchman that caught a Scientist succesfully gets 1 FPT, 1 Standing and 1 GL. Europe’s Influence is increased by the total amount of captured Scientists. The Henchman that resolves this Operation may add three parts to the Doomsday Device per captured Scientist, but doesn’t get GL for doing so. If a Henchman included suggestions for Doomsday Device parts on their comments, those suggestions should be taken into consideration for adding.

Failure: Each Henchman gets beaten badly and we loose some reputation for not being able to fight physicists and math Professors. The Influence in Europe drops by 10 and the Overlord’s Standingdrops by the same amount. Each Henchman who joined loses 2 GL.

No, Mr Bond, I Expect You To Idle

I’m ducking out of taking over the world. Quorum remains eight.

Proposal: A couple of those speed ups

self-killed—Yoda

Adminned at 06 May 2008 16:57:54 UTC

Add to 2.13 Frequent Flyer Miles,

On an Evil day, Henchmen may exchange 3 FFM directly for a change of Location.

Strike from 2.10 Doomsday Device the words “located in Antarctica”. Change “wiki page” to “blog thread”.

Request for Comments: Speed up?

I want to propose something to make this Dynasty speed up, but wouldn’t want to try it out before knowing if others feel the same. If someone else wishes to beat me to it and propose something akin before I do, feel free. Things I think could help make the dynasty more dynamic:

+ Moving shouldn’t be a weekly action. Perhaps twice a week? Three times per week?
+ FFM should be worth more, perhaps 5 FFM = 1 FPT? Maybe not change is needed if the first point is fixed.
+ Adding parts to the Doomsday device faster.
+ Reworking the entire Weapon system to make Weapons simple but relevant to gameplay.

What do you think? What are our options?

Story Post: Operation: SPYCES 27

Requirements: Any Henchman may join this operation.

Effects: Each henchman who joins the operation must include in their comment in which they join the operation whether to train the Spy in MS or INT.  Each henchman may only choose one or the other, and no henchman may change their decision once it has been made.  The Spy will, on resolving the operation, infilitrate the Elephant Culinary Artists’ HQ.  To get in, the Spy will have to get a uniform, by attacking one of the wandering elephant explorers.  The die roll for that is a roll of XDICE2 (Spy) versus a roll of 2DICE3 (Elephant), where X stands for the number of players who have trained the Spy in MS.  If the result of the Spy’s roll is greater than the result of the Elephant’s roll, the Spy continues.  The Spy then rolls to get the spices.  A roll of DICEY (Spy) versus a roll of DICE6 (Elephants), where Y stands for the number of players who trained the Spy in INT.  If the Spy’s roll is greater than the Elephants’ roll, the operation is a success.  If the Spy fails on any roll, the operation is a failure.

Success: Remove 1 member from the Elephant Culinary Artists (dead explorer).  Each henchman gains 2 points in the statistic in which they trained the Spy.  Africa gains DICEZ influence, where Z is 10 times the number of henchmen who joined the operation.  The same amount of standing is distributed evenly among the henchmen who joined, with any left over going to the Overlord.

Failure: Each henchman loses 2 points of the stat in which they trained the Spy.  Africa loses DICEA influence, where A is the current influence in Africa.  The Overlord loses the same amount of standing.

Alert! African Leader Disrupts Plans!

Kame Numah has been organizing peace meetings among the African nations.  He is trying to create a union of African nations in order to thwart our plans to take over Africa.  He then hopes to extend this union to other continents so that they, too, can fight against our domination.

Kame Numah must be stopped at all costs.  He is a threat to our very existence.

Arthexis receives no GL, since it was s/k’ed.

Adminned at 06 May 2008 16:57:19 UTC

Create a new Sub-Rule “Attribute Checks” at the end of Rule “Attributes”:

An attribute check consists on a DICEX roll, where X is one specified attribute, like INT (INT Check) or MS (MS Check) of the Henchman doing the roll. If the result of the roll is 10 or greater, the check is considered successful. Otherwise, it is a fail. If a Check is specified to be Evil (Evil INT Check, Evil MS Check), the Henchman’s GL is added to X. If an Evil Check is performed on Evil Day, twice the GL is added instead. Whenever a Check is made, the Henchman who made the roll may add 1 to their FFM.

Hopefully this helps standardize the system, and add 2 to Arthexis’ GL.

Proposal: Operation: SPYCES 27

Overtime, 7 for, 0 against. —Rodlen is Cooler than You

Adminned at 04 May 2008 21:20:15 UTC

Start the following Evil Operation:

Someone, please post the following as the proposal Operation: SPYCES

Start a new Evil Operation:

Requirements: No requirements.
Effects: Each henchman who joins the operation must choose whether to give the Spy MS or INT.  The Spy will, on resolving the operation, infilitrate the Elephant Culinary Artists’ HQ.  To get in, the Spy will have to get a uniform, by attacking one of the wandering elephant explorers.  The die roll for that is a roll of xDICE2 (Spy) versus a roll of 2DICE3 (Elephant).  x stands for the number of players who give the Spy MS.  If the result of the Spy’s roll is greater than the result of the Elephant’s roll, the Spy continues.  The Spy then rolls to get the spices.  A roll of DICEy (Spy) versus a roll of DICE6 (Elephants).  y stands for the number of players who gave INT to the Spy.  If the Spy’s roll is greater than the Elephants’ roll, the operation is a success.  If the Spy fails on any roll, the operation is a failure.
Success: Remove 1 member from the Elephant Culinary Artists (dead explorer). Give each participating player one more point of the statistic that player gave the Spy.  Add the Trunk full of Spices to the storage zone. (Trunk’s weapon statistics will be created by the resolving admin)
Failure: Each player participating loses 2 points of the stat he/she gave the Spy, and 1 point of Standing for failing to train the Spy well.
Note: The players don’t lose statistics for giving statistics to the Spy.

We want those spices.  Our replicator system will duplicate the spices.  We just want the spices. MMM, spices.  Train this spy.  Now, I’ll gladly resolve this, if it is started.

Proposal: Operation: Take the South (America, that is)

Self-killed. —Rodlen, Most Amazing Man Ever

Adminned at 03 May 2008 15:06:52 UTC

Start the following Evil Operation:

Requirements: Any Henchman with a GL of at least 1 may join this operation.
Effects: If the sum of all Henchman’s GL who join this operation equals or exceeds 100 minus the current influence in South America, this operation succeeds.  Otherwise, it fails.
Success: All Henchmen who join this operation have their locations set to South America and receive 1 FFM.  Then, roll a DICEX, where X is the sum of all the Henchman’s GL who joined this operation.  The influence is South America is raised by the value of the DICEX roll.  The rise in South America’s influence is then distributed evenly among all Henchmen who joined this operation, with any extra going to the Overlord.
Failure: Each Henchmen who joined this operation lose DICEY GL, where Y is their GL.  Also, South America loses all influence and the Overlord loses an equal amount of standing.

Proposal: Once again, with Secret Agents

Overtime, passed 7 for to 1 deferential. —Rodlen the Awesome

Adminned at 03 May 2008 15:37:22 UTC

Now that we have finally taken over Antarctica, the world leaders are paying more atention to us. It is important that we keep our eyes open on the lookuot for any sort of secret agent / renegade hero / clumsy spy that comes our way.

Create a new Rule, “Secret Agents”:

Once a week any Henchman not located on Antarctica may create a story post with “Alert!” at the start of its title. The post shall go on to describe the name and known traits of some secret government agent that has been sent in a futile attempt to weaken our organization. The post shall also include the continent where the Agent was spotted (and it has to match the location of the poster at the time of creating the post).

For the next 24 hours after the post was created, any Henchman with at least 2 Standing may respond to it by making a comment including a DICEX roll where X is their INT + MS. If the result of the roll is less than 20, the Henchman fails to take down the Agent, looses 2 standing and is sent to Antarctica. If the result of the roll is 20 or greater, the Agent is taken down and no more comments are allowed on that story post, the Influence on that continent is increased by 6 and the Henchman who took the Agent down increases er Standing by the same amount.

If an Agent cannot be taken down within 24 hours or if three Henchmen in a row fail to take the Agent down, the Agent succeeds in weakening the Overlord’s influence, reducing the Influence of that continent (the one specified in the story post) by 12, and reducing the Overlord’s standing by the same amount. After that point, no more comments are allowed in that post.

We shall not loose again!

Taking over the week, one day at a time.

Thursday is now Evil Day! I decree it! MUAHAAHAAHAHAHa-*cough*

...

That is all.

Proposal: Request for Adminship

Africa’s influence increases by 2.
Someone please let me know if I did this correctly, since I have not promoted someone before.  Thanks.

Adminned at 02 May 2008 18:13:50 UTC

If this proposal passes, I, Rodlen, shall become a Blognomic admin.

My reason for this request: I keep on seeing proposals that have passed quorum, and are needing to be activated.  I would like to handle those proposals, as well as a few overtime proposals.  I will check all proposals that have enough comments to possibly pass quorum, to find a pass or fail.

I have a Wiki account.

I will understand if you vote against me being an admin.

Vote now.

Proposal: Global Networking

reached a quorum, final vote 1-9—Yoda

Adminned at 02 May 2008 15:56:21 UTC

Add the following rule named “Global Networking”:

If the number of unique Locations of the Henchmen that vote FOR a passing Proposal is seven, then:

  • Those Henchman that voted FOR that Proposal shall receive +7 Standing, and
  • The Overlord gains +7 Influence on all continents where his influence is less than 80.

Additionally, on passing of this proposal, if at least seven Henchman vote FOR this Proposal and post their current Location, and all seven continents are represented in those FOR votes, then each voting Henchman receives +2 FPT, regardless of their vote.
