Proposal: Theses Pieces

Add a new rule called “Theses” to be the follow, or if such a rule already exists remove everyone’s Thesis, then update its text to be the following

A Thesis consists of five different Probulator Functions, one output for each of those functions, and a salt which is a flavor text string which can be any value. A Thesis Hash Base is constructed by concatenating the name of each function in a given thesis with its output in said thesis, concatenating all five of those together, and then appending the salt. For example if a thesis consisted of the following:

Qubit Entanglement - Output 0
Quantum-Economic Indicator - Output: 3.14
Wavefunction Observation - Output: 136
Emotion Engine - Output: Sad
Hype Machine - Output: 9

Salt - Redrum

Then the Thesis Hash Base for the example Thesis would be “Qubit Entanglement0Quantum-Economic Indicator3.14Wavefunction Observation136Emotion EngineSadHype Machine9Redrum”

The Thesis Hash is the sha256 hash of a Thesis Hash Base (for the above example thesis, it would be 734222870f7a3a832dcb1ce33a0df6c28cf4c8a4fa997b68fa5790e97475bd21).

Each Researcher may have a Thesis and may change their Thesis at any time, being sure to update their Thesis Hash Base. The Thesis Hash of a Researcher’s thesis is publicly tracked (if a Researcher has no Thesis, they also have no Thesis Hash). By Default, a Researcher has no Thesis. Thesis and Thesis hash bases are privately tracked by their Researcher. If a Thesis Hash Base is out of sync with what a Researcher claims their Thesis is, it is the Thesis Hash Base which is considered to be the proper value and the researcher’s Thesis is considered to be invalid.

If a Researcher has a valid Thesis, and their Thesis has not been changed (including setting it from having previously had no thesis) for the past week they attempt to Declare Dominion Over Randomness by performing the following atomic action:
- Make a post to the blog publicly declaring their Thesis
- For each Probulator Function in their Thesis, use the Probulator to determine an outcome
- If each generated outcome exactly matches the output for that function in the thesis, the Researcher performing the action has successfully declared dominion over randomness and achieves victory in the current dynasty
- If not, the Researcher performing the action has their Thesis set have no Thesis.

Proposal: Backyard Blobber Breeding

Create a rule called Breeding Blobbers:

It is a known fact that blobbers multiply when they have had a broad set of experiences, free of repetition. At any time, a Researcher may attempt to Breed Blobbers. This is an atomic action with the following steps:
*The Researcher retrieves all previous Imprint Lists that previous legal uses of this action created for that researcher.
*The Researcher creates an Imprint List which consists of every imprinted outcome that is currently in their Blobber Imprints. There are to be a number of outcomes in the list equal to the Blobber Quantity, and any missing outcomes are considered to be NULL.
*The Researcher compares each item in the New Imprint List with each value in that Researcher’s previous Imprint Lists. For the purposes of value comparisons for a given pair of values, if one item in the pair is either an empty string, or zero, or NULL and the other item is likewise an empty string, or zero, or NULL, then they must be treated as if they were both NULL.
*If any of the checked pairs of values are the same, that researcher has failed to Breed Blobbers and finishes the action. Failing to Breed Blobbers does not render this action illegal.
*Otherwise, if the Researcher has not failed to Breed Blobbers, they add one to their Blobber Quantity and finish the action.

When the Breed Blobbers action has been performed, that researcher cannot Imprint a Blobber that day.

If a Researcher has a Blobber Quantity of at least 2, then as a weekly atomic action, they may perform a Blobber Bopping which has the following steps:
*They choose another Researcher with a Blobber Quantity of at least 2, where that researcher has one of the same Imprinted outcomes as the targetted Researcher.
*Reduce the Blobber Quantity of both Researchers by 1, and remove that Imprinted outcome from both Researchers’ Blobber Imprints.

Add a new rule, called Theses:

Each Researcher has a Thesis, which is a text string that defaults to blank. At any time, a Researcher may change their Thesis to a sha256 hash that contains at least 5 possible outputs of Probulator Functions, as well as up to three words that do not appear in the ruleset (and which are flavour text) as salt.

Any Researcher who has a Blobber Quantity of at least five, who has had a Thesis that has been unchanged for at least a week, and whose Thesis in plaintext has the same contents as their Blobber Imprints, has achieved Victory

Proposal: So, the canteen counts as part of the lab, right?

Create a material called Kitchen with a cost of 10 and the following functions (which are to be created as Probulator Functions):

Name: Arrange the Fridge Magnets
Output range: Any uppercase string
Default and current forecast output: “CAT”
Method: Return an anagram of the forecast output. Then choose two numbers or two uppercase letters or one of each and append them to the current forecast value, and store an anagram of this new value as the new forecast output. For the purposes of this method, an anagram is defined as any arrangement of the characters which uses each character exactly as many times as in the source string for the anagram. Any number of spaces are permitted in the anagram and don’t count as a character for this purpose, and the anagram is not obligated to be in English nor in any other way meaningful.

Name: Will it Blend
Output range: Any number in the set of real numbers
Default and current forecast output: 0
Choose 2 output forecasts that are currently numerical (here denoted as X and Y respectively), and output the average of X, Y and Will It Blend’s current forecast output. Then store the average of X and Y as the forecast output.

If Object Oriented Materials failed, replace each instance of “Default and current forecast output” in the preceding text with “Forecast output”.

In the rule “Probulator Operation”, replace the text “a forecast value output (which is generally the next output that the Function should return if used (though may not be, as the actual output is determined by the method))” with “a default forecast value output”

In the rule “Probulator Operation”, immediately following the text “a list of Functions (which must consist only of names of Functions as detailed in subrules to this rule, and which must include at least one such Function)” add “, a forecast value output for each of those functions (which is generally the next output that the Function should return if used (though may not be, as the actual output is determined by the method))”

Set all newly created forecast value outputs to the forecast value output that their functions were holding immediately before enactment.

It seems kinda weird that we’re tracking gamestate in the rules rather than on the gamestate page.

Proposal: Materials Girl

In the rule Probulator Operation, change the sentence “As a daily action, a Researcher may Probe one Material by selecting one Material, selecting one of the Functions in that Material’s list, and Using that Material to determine an outcome using that Function of the Probulator” to “As a daily action, a Researcher may Probe one Material by Using that Material, and then determining an outcome from each Function of the Probulator associated with that Material.”

Add a new rule to the ruleset, called Materials Science:

Blobber is a mysterious substance that can be imprinted with the outputs of the Probulator.

Each Researcher has publicly tracked values for Blobber Quantity (defaulting to 1) and Blobber Imprints (defaulting to blank).

Whenever a Researcher uses a Probulator function to generate an outcome they may, once per outcome, Imprint a Blobber with that outcome, by adding that outcome to their Blobber Imprints or replacing an existing outcome in their Blobber Imprints with the new outcome. A Researcher may only have a number of outcomes in their Blobber Imprints that is less than or equal to their own value in Blobber Quantity.

Create a subrule of Probulator Operation called Material Ownership:

Each Material has 0 or more Researchers who are Owners of the Material, and the list of Owners is tracked for each Material. Each Material has 0 or more Researchers who are Users of the Material and the list of Users is tracked for each Material. These lists default to empty.
At any time, an Owner of a Material may add a Researcher to the Material’s User list. Each Owner of a Material is also a User of that Material, but tracking the Owner as a User for the Material is optional.

Only a User of a Material may perform actions on that Material unless the rule defining that action states otherwise. The Probulator may not directly use a Function unless the Researcher using the Probulator is a User of at least one Material that has the Function in its list of Functions.

Each Material has a tracked Purchase Price which is either a non-negative real number, or it is “n/a”. This defaults to 0. As an atomic daily action called Purchasing a Material, a Researcher can reduce their Funds by the Purchase Price of the Material (so long as that Material does not have a Purchase Price of n/a) and then add themselves to that Material’s Owner list. The Researcher performing this action is not required to be an Owner of the Material to perform this action on it.

Assign the following Purchase Price to each Material should those Materials exist:

Test Qubit: n/a
Electron Microscope: 1000
Digital Radio: 200
1980s Pager: 100
Josh-shaped Tamagotchi: 50


Create a subrule of Material Ownership called Basic Tools:

All Researchers are Owners of Test Qubit.

I’m expecting a possible veto here, but I figure this might add some asymmetry to the game if not everyone can access everything. The whole owner/user system is to add the ability to pool money for a joint purchase.

Additionally, a number of materials are to be created and assigned functions on the following basis:
If at least one valid function is listed for a given material as listed below in this proposal, create that material and assign each of its listed functions to it should that function exist. If Materials can have a cost, assign the listed cost to that Material too.

Some actions may specify that the performing Researcher must Use a Material as a cost of doing that action. As a daily action, a Researcher may Probe one Material by selecting one Material, selecting one of the Functions in that Material’s list, and Using that Material to determine an outcome using that Function of the Probulator.

Set the Cost of the Test Qubit to 10.

Change the rule Gambling to read as follows:

As a Daily Action, an Researcher may Play Qubit Penny Poker, which is an atomic action with the following steps:
* Use the Test Qubit Material on the Qubit Entanglement function of the Probulator
* If the returned value is 1, then increase your funds by 50. Otherwise, decrease your funds by 30.

* Reduce their own Funds by that quantity
* Use the Order Slip on the Quantum-Economic Indicator function of the Probulator
* Express the difference between the returned value and the new forecast value for the Quantum-Economic Indicator as a percentage (positive if the new forecast value is higher, negative if it is lower). Amend the amount being transferred by that percentage and complete the transfer by increasing the Funds of the target Researcher by the modified amount.

Add a new Material, called the Order Slip, with a Functions of “Qubit Entanglement, Quantum-Economic Indicator” and a Cost of 10.

The Emotion Operator should respond to any such post as soon as possible with an honest impression of their own interiority; when they do so, any Researcher may update the Forecast Output field of their entry to reflect the most recent available information.

Add a material to the list of Materials with the name of Electron Microscope and a Function of Wavefunction Observation.

We need a higher-resolution non-random number generator, and Wikipedia suggested a LCG. Removed a redundancy on the first method sentence.

It’s sort of unclear whether, upon being an Admin Researcher, and then not a Researcher, and then again a Researcher, I am still an Admin. It seems like probably but not definitely no. Resolve this by making pokes an Admin.

As Josh notes: this resolution has the advantage of avoiding having to muck around in EE settings to make me not an admin.

When the ruleset calls for the use of a specific tool (such as the dice roller, or an off-domain website, or a specific piece of downloadable software), Researchers may not deliberately interfere with the function of that tool except in ways explicitly permitted by the ruleset.

If there is a rule called Probulator Operation, re-write it as follows; otherwise add a new rule called Probulator Operation with the following text:

The Probulator is a pseudorandom output generator. Whenever a rule specified that an outcome be determined by the Probulator or at pseudorandom then it must be determined as specified by this rule. No rule may specify that an outcome be determined by the Probulator or pseudorandomly without also indicating a single Probulator Function.

The Probulator as a number of Functions, which are detailed in subrules to this rule. Each Function has the following characteristics: a name (which is flavour text), an output range (which is an description of the possible outputs that Function can return), a forecast value output (which is the next output that the Function should return if used), and a method.

When a Researcher uses the Probulator to determine an outcome, they must carry out the method of the specified Function as an atomic action.

There is a publicly tracked table of Materials. Each Material has a name (which is flavour text) and a list of Functions (which must consist only of names of Functions as detailed in subrules to this rule, and which must include at least one such Function). As a daily action, a Researcher may Probe one Material by selecting one Material, selecting one of the Functions in that Material’s list, and determining an outcome using that Function of the Probulator.

If there is a rule called Qubit Prediction, remove it. Add a new subrule to the rule Probular Operation with the name Probulator Functions and the following text:

This rule details the known Functions of the Probulator.

Output range: 0, 1
Forecast output: 0
Method: Return forecast output and then change the forecast output one minus the current forecast output.

If there are any gamestate tracked entities called Test Qubit A or Test Qubit B, remove them. Add a Material to the list of Materials with the name of Test Qubit and a Function of Qubit Entanglement.

This should do more or less the same things as Proposal: Power Up the Probulator, but more readably and with more consistent language, I hope.

Proposal: Research is Expensive

Create a Rule called Money Management:

Each Researcher has a publicly tracked nonnegative integer value called “funds” which defaults to 1000.
As a daily action, you can transfer any positive integer of funds from yourself to another Researcher, so long as this integer is not greater than the amount of funds that you hold.

If the Proposal “Power Up the Probulator” has passed, create a Rule called Gambling:

As a Daily Action, an Researcher may Play Qubit Penny Poker, which is an atomic action with the following steps:
Use the Probulator with the ID “Test Qubit A.”  If the returned value is 1, then increase your funds by 1.  Otherwise, decrease your funds by 1.

Create a rule called Probulator Operation:

The Probulator is a publicly tracked list of Events, Seeds, and Algorithms.  Each Event is a string representing a particular event or source of randomness that the Probulator can predict.  Each Algorithm Name is the name of an Algorithm defined in this ruleset.  Each Seed represents the current state of that event or source of randomness. 
Some rules may define Algorithms.  Algorithms consist of a Name, a Seed Data Type, a Default Seed, an Output Data Type and a Process.  The Algorithm Name is a unique string of text that identifies a particular algorithm.  The Seed Data Type and Output Data Type refer to the types of values that the Seed may be and that the Algorithm may return (respectively).  The Process is a set of instructions to generate a value.
Some actions may instruct you to use the Probulator with a given ID.  To do so, perform the following as an Atomic Action:
Find the definition of the Algorithm corresponding to that particular ID.
Perform the Algorithm’s Process as an Atomic Action.  If the Process refers to the algorithm or any of the algorithm’s values, use the values from the Probulator table corresponding to the current entry.
The Process will generate or return some value.  Continue the action that caused you to use the Probulator with that value.

Researchers may not use the Probulator unless a rule specifies to.  Any action that would set an Event’s Seed to a value not allowed in the Event’s Algorithm’s Seed Data Type, or which would cause an Algorithm to return a value not allowed in its Output Data Type is invalid.

Create a subrule of Probulator Operation called Qubit Prediction:

Define an Algorithm with the following properties:
Name: Single Qubit
Seed Data Type: 0 or 1
Output Data Type: 0 or 1
Default Seed: 0
Process:
The algorithm returns its current Seed value.
If the Seed is 0, set it to 1.  Otherwise, set it to 0.

Add two entries to the Probulator with the following values:

ID: Test Qubit A
Seed: 0
Algorithm: Single Qubit

MadisonSilver may change their Dharma into any string. Any provisions of any rule that would restrict any of MadisonSilver’s actions do not apply. MadisonSilver may change any value in gamestate into any other value.” and I am currently not Unstable.  Therefore, I have achieved victory.

This is intended to be a high risk, high reward kind of deal. If you’re trying to make use of your Dharma, you risk getting so much paradox that you stop yourself from winning, assuming you can even get anything useful out of the paralleliser to begin with.

Create a subrule of Qubits called Escalated Mining

When you have a focus, you may choose to perform Escalated Mining as a weekly action. When you do so, take the following steps:
-Increase your Paradox by the Variance of your focus
-Transfer 1 qubit from the qubit value of your Focus to your own. The qubit value of your Focus is permitted to become negative as a result of this

If you have performed Escalated Mining today, you cannot perform Qubit Mining. If you have performed Qubit Mining today, you cannot perform Escalated Mining.

In the rule Variance, append “If a Maestro Team Member has a blank Focus, all dynastic rules with a non-zero Persistence are Intangible for that Maestro Team Member.” to the line “Whenever a Maestro Team Member has a non-blank Focus, any dynastic rule whose Persistence is higher than the Variance of the parallel dynasty that is their Focus are Intangible for that Maestro Team Member.”

Rewrite the rule Parallel Dynasties to read as follows:

There are a number of Parallel Dynasties of BlogNomic, which are numbered between 101 and 200. These are publicly tracked.

The existing historic dynasties of BlogNomic numbered between 1 and 100 are referred to as a Locked Dynasties, and those numbered 101-199 are referred to as Prime Dynasties.

Each parallel universe dynasty must have a number, and can have the following Data: an ordinal (a non-negative ordinal integer defaulting to First), an Emperor, a Victory Style (which may only be one word from the set {Conventional, Scam, Pooling}), a theme, which is flavour text, and a Winner, which is blank by default. All of these are publicly tracked.

The Paralleliser is a tool used by Maestro Team Members to divine the properties of parallel dynasties; it can be found here: https://textsynth.com/playground.html. Some actions might instruct you to generate something by Using the Paralleliser with a given seed list. To do so, open the Paralleliser. Set the Model to GPT-NeoX, the top-k to 400, the top-p to 0.9, the temperature to 1.0 and the max tokens to 200, leaving the ‘stop at’ field blank. Paste the seed list from the Dynasty Data page into the text box and repeatedly hit ‘Generate’ until the Paralleliser returns a list of five or more items that bear a resemblance to the items on the input list. Choose six distinct items from among those generated by the Paralleliser (ignoring the text in bold, which simply replicates your initial input, and any item after the last comma); randomly select one of these choices to be the generated item.

Add the following to be the first subrule to the rule Parallel Dynasties, called Default Information:

The Winner of a Parallel Dynasty is the same Persona as the Emperor of the subsequent Parallel Dynasty, if that Data is known.

The Ordinal of a Parallel Dynasty is blank unless the Emperor for that Parallel Dynasty is known. As a Daily Action, a Maestro Team Member may learn of a parallel universe dynasty, which is an atomic action with the following steps:

* Select a Parallel Dynasty with one or more missing pieces of Data, and select one or more pieces of Data (other than the Ordinal or the Winner) that it lacks
** If the selected piece of Data is the Emperor: use the Paralleliser with a seed list of Emperors (101-199) list from the Dynasty Data page to generate a name. Set that name to be the Emperor of the parallel dynasty being discovered.
** If the selected piece of Data is the Theme: use the Paralleliser with a seed list of Themes (101-199) list from the Dynasty Data page to generate a theme. Set that theme to be the theme of the parallel dynasty being discovered.
** If the selected piece of Data is the Victory Style: randomly select the Dynasty’s Victory Style.
* Add the name of the Maestro Team Member performing this action to the Temporal footprint of the parallel dynasty being discovered.

- Set its number to the number of the numerically first Prime Dynasty with no existing parallel dynasties

Create a rule called “Scam Rating” with a Persistence value of 1. This rule has the text:

A Maestro Team Member may choose to perform an action as a Scammed Action. To do so, they must do the following:
-They choose an action in a rule which is Intangible for them.
-They increase their Paradox by the difference between the Variance of their Focus and the Persistence of the rule that the action belongs to.
-They perform the action, and the rule is not considered to be Intangible for the duration of this action.

If an action would not be eligible to be performed even if the Maestro Team Member had a high enough Variance on their Focus (whether due to unpaid costs or otherwise), then they are not able to perform the action as a Scammed Action.
A Maestro Team Member is only able to perform Scammed Actions a number of times per week less than or equal to their Inclination for Scams as defined in their SCP rating. This limit is considered collectively between all actions that they perform as a Scammed Action, rather than being a per-action limit.

 

It’s about time we give a use to the scam rating too.

Create a new rule called “Qubit Conservation”:

The Qubit Pool is a publicly tracked integer value (which may be negative) that defaults to 0.  Whenever the number of Qubits owned by a Persona or Parallel Dynasty is increased, decrease the Qubit Pool by that number.  Whenever the number of Qubits owned by a Persona or Parallel Dynasty is decreased, increase the Qubit Pool by that number.  (This does not apply when the number of Qubits belonging to a Persona or Parallel Dynasty are first set.)

If the Qubit Pool is positive, any Maestro Team Member with a nonzero inclination for Pooling may perform a daily atomic action known as Pool Extraction as follows:
- Increase the qubits of each other Maestro Team Member with a inclination for Pooling equal to or greater than yours by 1 qubit.
- If any Maestro Team Member gained qubits as a result of the previous step, increase your number of qubits by your inclination for Pooling.
- If the Qubit Pool is less than zero at this point, all Personas who gained qubits as a result of this action gain 1 paradox.

This sentence names, at the end of this sentence after a colon, a single dynastic resource or variable, which is the Bounty Reward Variable for this dynasty: Qubits

The Space Maestro may post a Bounty Notice, close an open Bounty Notice, or change the Bounty Reward Variable in this rule at any time.

If the Space Maestro believes that an enacted votable matter satisfies the demand of an open Bounty Notice then they may iterate the Bounty Reward Variable of that votable matter’s author by a single step (unless that author was themselves) and set that Bounty Notice to closed.

Some players want to propose stuff but don’t know what to propose. This is just to incentivise proposing from players who might need a little nudge.

Each dynastic rule has a score for Persistence, which is a non-negative integer that defaults to zero. The Persistence of a dynastic rule is shown next to its title, in brackets, but is not considered to be a part of its title for the purposes of referring to that rule. The Persistence of a rule applies to all of its subrules; a subrule does not have a distinct Persistence from its parent rule.

Whenever a Maestro Team Member has a non-blank Focus, any dynastic rule whose Persistence is higher than the Variance of the parallel dynasty that is their Focus are Intangible for that Maestro Team Member.

Only dynastic rules may be Intangible. When a rule is Intangible for a Maestro Team Member, that Maestro Team Member may not undertake any actions defined by that rule, and any provisions of that rule that would restrict any of their own actions do not apply. However, an Intangible rule does not cease to exist or become flavour text for any Maestro Team Member, and its instructions must be obeys as applied to any Maestro Team Member or Persona for whom it is not Intangible.

If the Space Maestro Passes the Mantle after selecting a parallel dynasty, the new Space Maestro cannot and does not need to select a new parallel dynasty.

These parallel dynasty themes seem pretty neat. I’m sure one of them would make a good dynasty.

Proposal: Let’s give these guys some personality

Append the following to the rule SCP Ratings:

A Persona which is not a Maestro Team Member has an SCP rating which is calculated as follows; That Persona starts with an SCP rating of 000, then for each of the Parallel Dynasties in which the persona is an emperor:
-Add one to the first digit of that persona’s SCP rating if the dynasty’s victory style is Scamming
-Add one to the second digit of that persona’s SCP rating if the dynasty’s victory style is Conventional Play
-Add one to the third digit of that persona’s SCP rating if the dynasty’s victory style is Pooling

Technically, if a non-maestro team member persona un-idles or joins when their parallel version won a lot of parallel dynasties then they can get an SCP rating higher than 3 points, but I see this as more of an interesting quirk than anything actively harmful.

Enact a rule called Qubits:

All personas and all parallel dynasties have a tracked value called qubits which starts at a value of 0 unless the starting value is stated otherwise by another rule.

As a daily action, you can transfer any positive integer of qubits from yourself to a persona or to a parallel dynasty which is not your Focus, so long as this integer is not greater than the number of qubits you hold.

As a Cresi Action, a Maestro Team Member may increase the paradox of all Maestro Team Members holding qubits by 1.

Enact a subrule of Qubits called Qubit Mining:

When you meet the following conditions, you may perform an atomic action known as Qubit Mining as a daily action:
-Your Focus has an amount of qubits greater than zero
-You are in the Parallel List for your Focus
When you perform Qubit Mining, you do the following:
-Increase your qubits by the number of qubits on your Focus, less one for every Maestro Team Member sharing your Focus. If you would gain less than zero, instead gain zero.
-Increase the qubits of all Maestro Team Members who share a focus with you by 1 qubit.
-Reduce the qubits on the Focus by the total amount of qubits gained by Maestro Team Members as a result of this action’s steps.
-If the Focus has less than zero qubits at this point, all Maestro Team Members who gained qubits as a result of this action gain 1 paradox.
As an example of this, if players A, B and C and D have a Focus of The Example Dynasty which has 2 qubits and player A performs qubit mining, then players B, C and D gain 1 qubit and player A would gain 0 qubits as they cannot gain -1 qubits. The Example Dynasty has -1 qubits total as a result, and players B, C and D all gain 1 paradox.

In the rule Parallel BlogNomic, append the following step to the “Learn of a Parallel Universe” atomic action:

Set the number of qubits of the parallel dynasty being discovered to its Variance.

Set the qubits of all existing parallel dynasties at the time of this proposals Enactment to their current Variance.

Create a rule called Instability:

Before {Date}, Maestro Team Members may not set their Focus to a parallel dynasty which another player has as their Focus. This rule may be deleted by an admin at any time after said date has passed.

When enacting this proposal, replace “{Date}” with the date and time exactly two days after the time of this proposal being enacted.
If any Maestro Team Members have the same Focus as another Maestro Team Member at the time of enactment, then do the following for each such Focus:
Set the Focus of each Maestro Team Members with that Focus to nothing, so long as that Maestro Team Member has held it for less than 48 hours. This Focus removal is not to be performed on the Maestro Team Member with that focus that has continuously held it for the longest time at the time of enactment, counting from when they most recently gained that Focus.

The goal here is to create a currency for some future goal. I’ve specifically chosen not to make mining heavily time limited, as it would more than likely be restricted by other actions anyway such as swapping focus or by other players donating qubits which would likely need arranging in advance anyway. It’s still daily though to prevent spamming.
The final rule is to prevent you from sniping someone’s qubits on their focus by choosing it just before or just after the rule has changed.
Edit: Added a clause to say you must be in the Parallel List for the focus when mining, due to some players being grandfathered into having a focus where they aren’t on the list.

Enact a new rule, “Dharma”:-

Each Maestro Team Member has a Dharma, which is a publicly-tracked text string. It is not flavour text.

At any time, a Maestro Team Member may change their Dharma to any Pure sentence from the dynastic history page of the Parallel Dynasty which is their Focus.

To “Parallel BlogNomic”, add:-

If a sentence of text in the gamestate was generated by the Paralleliser, and does not include any of the words that were present in the starting text used to generate it, then that text is considered Pure. (Flavour text may be considered to be English text with no meaning in game terms, for the purposes of checking whether it contains Pure sentences.)

Considering the GPT-text-as-meaningful angle, by allowing players to pick out a single purely GPT-generated sentence and unflavour it, and explicitly avoiding anything which includes directly player-injected terms. (Requiring a selection also avoids the possibility that the GPT will declare something momentous that nobody wants it to say, or which nobody actually notices until weeks later.)

Reword the sentence in the rule “Parallel BlogNomic” that begins “Each parallel universe dynasty must have a number…” as follows:

Each parallel universe dynasty must have a number (which is the same as the number of the Prime Dynasty it is associated with), an ordinal (a non-negative ordinal integer defaulting to First), an Emperor, a Victory Style (which may only be one word from the set {Conventional, Scam, Pooling}), and a theme, which is flavour text. All of these are publicly tracked.

Insert as the penultimate step of the “learn of a parallel universe dynasty” atomic action in the rule “Parallel BlogNomic” the following:

Randomly select the Dynasty’s Victory Style.

Randomly assign a Victory Style to each Parallel Dynasty discovered so far.

So far as I can see, the lists of player names are the only thing that we want the ruleset to interpret from dynastic history pages, at the moment.

The rest (including unpredictable but influenceable GPT rambles and freely-chosen Player/Emperor terms) would be safer if considered to be meaningless flavour text by default. We can plug them deliberately into the ruleset later if we want to have the game mechanics care about what they say.

Proposal: Subrule Extrication [Appendix]

Change the text of the “Subrule” keyword to read as follows:

A subrule is a type of rule that is hierarchically ordered beneath another rule. Rules and proposals that refer to a rule do not also refer to its subrules, unless otherwise specified.

We’ve all kind of been thinking of subrules as independent of their parent rules, haven’t we? Let’s make the definition match that expectation. (Note that top level sections like “Appendix” are specifically called “sections”, not “rules”, so this change won’t affect referring to them.)

A mysterious figure steps out of a sudden dimensional rift. It glances around, noting that there seems to be some issue. A bunch of Maestro team members running around like chickens with their heads cut off will give off that impression. After looking around, and seeing the reason that everyone is panicking, he frowns.

Add a new subrule to the rule Parallel Dynastic Histories, called Parallel Rules:

Any Parallel Dynastic History that has undergone the Ascension Research atomic action may be the target of the Gameplay Research atomic action.

Gameplay Research is an atomic Cresi Action that any Maestro Team Member may carry out. It has the following steps:
* The Maestro Team Member carrying out this action may select one dynastic rule that is recorded on the ruleset linked to from the dynastic history page of the Prime Dynasty with the same number as the parallel dynasty in question. The selected rule must have been proposed and enacted during the prime dynasty in question; if no such rule exists then this action fails and all subsequent steps are not carried out.
* The selected text should then be privately copied and amended as follows: the thematic terms for Emperor and Player should be replaced with those from the parallel dynasty; the following text should be appended to the beginning of the selection: “In [theme] we shall play the game by the following rule:” where [theme] is replaced with the theme of the parallel dynasty; changing any non-player-or-emperor-synonymous nouns in the text to nouns that are appropriate to the theme of the parallel dynasty, consistently changing each noun to the same term when they reappear.
* Use that text as a seed in the Paralleliser. Add the output, up until the end of the last complete sentence, to the Parallel Dynastic History in question as a Key Proposal with a relevant title of the poster’s choice.

The rule Stamina from the ruleset of Dynasty 180, as interpreted as part of the Towering Inferno Dynasty:

Stamina is tracked at the “Mission Log”. Pathfinders have an amount of Stamina, defaulting to 7 and with a maximum of 10. If no Pathfinder has done so in the last 72 hours, a Pathfinder may Sunrise, granting each Pathfinder 7 Stamina (or setting it to 10, if it’s at more than 3), then decreasing each Pathfinder’s Stamina by the total Encumbrance of the Items that Pathfinder is carrying (to a minimum of zero). Whenever a Pathfinder Sunrises they must also add 2 to the number of Pods held in the Gear of the Base on the Geosynchronous Rig.

Becomes

In The Towering Inferno Dynasty we play the game by the following rule: Chords are tracked at the “Set List”. Metalheads have an amount of Chords, defaulting to 7 and with a maximum of 10. If no Metalhead has done so in the last 72 hours, a Metalhead may Mosh, granting each Pathfinder 7 Chords (or setting it to 10, if it’s at more than 3), then decreasing each Metalhead’s Chords by the total Encumbrance of the Instruments that Metalhead is carrying (to a minimum of zero). Whenever a Metalhead Moshes they must also add 2 to the number of Sweat held in the Hair of the Band on the Stage. If a Metalhead has Mosh’d within the last 24 hours they must also add 1 point to the number of Chords.

Mosh’ing at a performance is the way to ensure the music never stops. A new rule has also been added: A Metalhead can only Mosh with a Metalhead, but Metalheads do not have to Mosh with a Metalhead.

In the case of a tie, a random generator is invoked, with the result of Metalhead Chord being used as the result.

Pure Mosh

The Pure Mosh is a rare and secret, but brutal form of musical worship known only to Metalheads. Only one person is allowed to participate in this act: the Band Leader. This person must stand right in the middle of the stage and not move at all. All other Band Members must surround the person performing the Pure Mosh, and stand on the outside of the person, never entering the space they occupy.

Instead of separating tokens by line breaks, (or by commas and line breaks if “Comma Convenience” has passed,) change the seed lists in the Dynasty Data wiki page to have the tokens separated by a comma and a space.

They may, if they wish, augment their entry on the parallel list with a disguise, which is a short (no more than ten words) statement fully enclosed in curly braces immediately after their name explaining how they have concealed their identity. Any such disguise statement is flavour text and may not introduce any new formating elements to the wiki page on which it is contained.
