Proposal: Gotta have some style.

Passed 8-0. Enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 01 Jan 2008 11:55:48 UTC

Enact a new rule titled The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. It shall contain the following text:

There shall be a wiki page titled Wanted Posters. There shall be a section for each player. At any time, a player may post in their section of the document a picture of a person in the “Wild West” theme. This is considered to represent the likeness of the player.

Preparing for the New Dynasty

I have started the shift in dynasties by repealing all dynastic rules and changing all the terminology in the Ruleset as stated in the Ascension Address.  Please feel free to check my work as I may have missed something.

I do not know how to change the front page stuff, so if someone else could do that, the shift should be complete.

Proposal: The Alcohol

Failed. Cannot be passed without a change of a AGAINST vote 4-6. Failed by Chivalrybean.

Adminned at 01 Jan 2008 11:55:08 UTC

If the Proposal titled “The Money” failed, this Proposal does nothing.

Create a new dynastic rule titled Money, with the following text:

Any player can buy a drink from the bar for themselves or another player by spending $5 worth of their money.

Proposal: The Money

Passed without any effect other than allowing another proposal to pass. 7-3 Enacted by Chivalrybean (Sorry I delayed it.)

Adminned at 01 Jan 2008 11:51:25 UTC

Replace the column in the GNDT titled “Acorns” with a column titled “Money”.

Remove the GNDT columns “Experience” and “SupportedGod”.

Change the number in the Money column for each player to 300.

Starting this with a bit of money.

Ascension Address: Know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em.

Gentlemen, welcome to Nuttal & Mann’s Saloon.  Wipe the mud off your boots on the way in.  Whiskey and beer are available at the bar.  Kindly refrain from discharging firearms while on the premises; but if you just can’t help yourself, try not to shoot the piano player—he’s doing his best.  The poker table is in the back, and that fella sitting at the table with his back to the corner, that’d be the Dealer.

Have a seat and let’s play some poker.

All Dynastic Rules are repealed.  “Valkyrie(s)” becomes “Player(s)”.  “Allfather” becomes “Dealer”.  Singular third-person pronouns become feminine when appropriate.

Call for Judgment: Make Spikebrennen the emperor.

Passed. A high card of 7 for votes beats a high card of 0. Adminned by Chivalrybean.

Adminned at 31 Dec 2007 12:10:43 UTC

Since Arronwinborn has idled out.

If this CfJ passes, Spikebrennen is the new emperor of Blognomic.

Aaron Idles out.

Assuming I’m reading the timestamps right, Aaron is idle. Hasn’t logged in in 7 days.

I’ll propose a CfJ to deal Spike the Emperor card.

New Player

I’m supposed to announce that I’m a new player, right? Well, here I am.

Passing it off

Last time I hosted I had an awesome dynasty but didn’t have time to run it properly. So I don’t want to repeat that same mistake until summer. Aaronwinborn is now the Allfather and may post eir AA whenever he so wishes or pass it off to someone else.

Aaron never confirmed waiting to be in charge of a dynasty, so if it goes a couple of days without any reply from Aaron we can use a CfJ to put spike in charge and let him run his poker dynasty.

Declaration of Victory: The Results

Passes 7-0. Now to decide who gets to be next…

Adminned at 29 Dec 2007 10:16:17 UTC

I ran the thing like I was supposed to. I won three events, Aaron won three events, Jack tied with me once and spike won one.

In the case of a tie, as was with Aaron and me, we use acorns and I had more acorns. So I achived victory.

I probably messed up somewhere. I wasn’t super careful. But honestly the dynasty was dying so I hope no one is that picky about making me do it totally perfect.

Anyways I don’t even want to host. Aaron was the only one who got close to me, so if he wants to be emporor I’ll pass it off to him assuming this DoV passes. If Aaron doesn’t want to, I’ll leave it open to anyone else who wants it—just post what kind of dynasty you want and I’ll pick my favourite.

Attempted trade

Rodlen trades Edward Teach to Spikebrennan in exchange for nothing.

Attempted trade

Jack trades Judith and Ragnar Lodbrok to Spikebrennan in exchange for nothing.

Attempted trade

Chivalrybean trades Alfred Hitchcock, Charles M. Schulz and Lise Meitner to Spikebrennan in exchange for nothing.

Attempted trade

Bahro trades William Jennings Bryan, Joshua A. Norton, Bill Gates and Miguel de Cervantes to Spikebrennan in exchange for nothing.

Attempted Trade

Yoda trades Lola Montez to Spikebrennan in exchange for nothing.

(if Yoda fails to vote FOR this, then this has no effect.)

Proposal: Near? No! The end is HERE!

Passes. Time for me to go to work. Argh!—Clucky

Adminned at 27 Dec 2007 19:54:54 UTC

The Valkyrie that passes this proposal shall immideatley begin Ragnarök be preforming the following steps:

Starting with Wit and continuing down the list of statistics, skipping Tinkering, e shall totals every Valkyrie’s skirmish rating as if he was preforming a skirmish. For each statistic, for each valkyrie that has a positive skirmish rating in that statistic, he should roll a DICEN where N is that Valkyrie’s skirmish rating in that statistic. That is the Valkyrie’s score in that statistic. Any Valkyrie that does not have a positive skirmish rating in that statistic has a score of zero for that statistic. For each statistic, the Valkyrie who has the highest score for that statistic is given one “victory point”. If two or more valkyrie’s tie for the highest score in a given statistic, both are given a “victory point”. All Valkyrie start with zero victory points.

If, after the above steps have been preformed for all seven statistics and one Valkyrie has the most victory points then that Valkyrie has achieved victory. If there is a tie for the most victory points, the Valkyrie with the most acorns amongst those tied for the most victory points has achieved victory. If there is a tie amongst the most acorns as well, a DICEN is rolled where N is the number of Valkyrie tied with victory points and acorns. The Xth Valkyrie when their names are listed alphabetically (where X is the result of the die role) has achieved victory.

But its christmas!

Bahro, Hix, Igthorn, Rodney, and Shadowclaw.

They all have one thing in common.

They all have timed out and are going idle.

Proposal: The End is Near!

Self-killed - enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 26 Dec 2007 17:06:59 UTC

If this proposal passes and if a majority of the comments containing active FOR votes contain the text “Crash Course”, in the rule Training Skirmishes, change the text

As a Daily Action, the Allfather may announce that a Skirmish has taken place in perperation for the Final Battle.

to

As a Daily Action, once any Valkyrie may announce that a Skirmish has taken place in perpetration for the Final Battle. Before doing so, they must make a post explaining such so no two Valkyries attempt a training skirmish at the same time. (check first so you don’t waste your time)

Enact a new rule called Dropping The Ball. It shall contain the following text.

The time for Ragnarök is near. When the blognomic clock reaches 11:59 on December 31st 2007, no more training skirmishes may be initiated. Any unrecruited Einherjar shall be given to the highest bidder or Fólkvangr as soon as possible, but no more Einherjar can be added to the Unrecruited Einherjar list. As soon as the Unrecruited Einherjar list is empty, the Allfather shall commence Ragnarök. This shall be done by following the same rules as Training Skirmishes with these following differences: The Allfather shall repeat the skirmish process until only one Valkyrie has any remaining Einherjar. This Valkyrie wins the game.

I think this will work.

Proposal: Loki is not an Aesir

selk-killed and timed out, final vote 4-4

Adminned at 25 Dec 2007 16:07:09 UTC

Remove Loki and his attribute modifiers from the rule “List of Gods” and set the “Supported God” field of all Valkyries supporting Loki to “none”.

Loki is not an Aesir, he is a giant.  Also, Loki will eventually lead the armies of Hel at Ragnarok.

Disgrace before death

(not a proposal, I’m just calling attention to an error in the enactment of a previous proposal)
The proposal that changed “death” to “disgraced” should have also changed the text of Rule 2.8 “Bleeding to Death”, which presently still reads:
———————-

Any Einherjar who has no Statistics with a value greater than +1 dies and becomes owned by no Valkyrie nor by Loki

Nellie Bly Fashions Electric Pen

Nellie Bly created a device worth one device point, which she believes to be the following device:

Electric Pen: Once per week, the Valkyrie owning the Einherjar who holds the Electric Pen may announce in the GDNT that the Einherjar is using the Electric Pen and roll DICE10. If the value is less than or equal to that Einherjar’s Scholarship statistic, then the Valkyrie may cause the value of the Charisma statistic of any single named Einherjar to be raised or lowered by 1 point, to no higher than +6 or lower than -6. She shall then make a story post to this effect.

Device

Guy Fawkes makes a device.(one device point) I suggest one that allows me to set the challenged statistic for Guy Fawkes during a skirmish. If you think it will be overpowered I will just take a device that adds +1 to Scholasticism.

Another breakthrough from the noodle house

Momofuku Ando has succeeded in tinkering for three (3) Tinkering Points.

Ando believes that he has created a device called “Alternator” which enables its holder, during any Skirmish in which the holder participates, to use the holder’s highest numeric statistic (determined after any applicable adjustments) as his/her Challenged Statistic.

Third try is the Charm

Lise makes a device! It has 1 point.

I suggest a device that adds +1 to a Valkyries total scholastic score if it is held by any Einherjar she owns. Maybe it’s a little device that holds knowledge.

Story Post: Yggdrasil Challenge: Raising Hel

Summary: Odin has entrusted you with the task of bringing Baldr back from Hel.  After he gives you Sleipnir, you ride off through the dark valleys.  When you arrive at the Gjoll river, you find that Modgud is guarding the bridge.  You must find some way across the bridge.

Challenge Rating: 3

Reward: You pass the bridge safely and find Hel.  You are able to convince her to release Baldr on one condition: every being in the world will weep for him.  Upon returning to Odin with the news, everyone weeps for Baldr except for Loki.  Hel then refuses to release Baldr.  For your troubles, Odin awards you 10 Acorns and 2 Experience.

Penalty: You return to Odin who is clearly unhappy with your failure.  He sentences you to stay in Folkvangr until the end of the next skirmish, at which time you will be returned to your original owner.

Proposal: Fixing Training

passed 8-0-1, enacted by aaronwinborn

Adminned at 20 Dec 2007 07:56:55 UTC

Where Rule 2.9 Time Off states “(Einherjar name) trains 1DICE7 , 1DICE 20” change to “(Einherjar name) trains 1DICE8 , 1DICE20”

There are 8 statistics, not 7, and there shouldn’t be a space between 1DICE and 20.

in english please?

Can someone explain what this section of the ruleset actually means?

At any point, if there is an unprocessed Challenge Atempt comment in a Challenge Post, the Allfather may process a challenge attempt by examining the differen between an attempting Einherjar’s chosen statistic, the story about the attempt, and roll of a DICE10 to decide if the Einherjar passed the challenge. If the Einherjar passes, the Valkyrie who own the attempting Einherjar gains the benifit of the prize. If the attempt fails, the Einherjar suffers the effects of the Penalty stated in the Challenge Post. If the Allfather rolled a 1 or 2 in the DICE10 roll, and the Einherjar failed the attempt, the attempting Einherjar may not again attempt a Challenge Post until the next week

First you are trying to take the difference of three numbers. One of those numbers it not a number but a story. (ascii???) and finally you are supposed to do all this to see if someone passes something but you don’t say what needs to happen for passing?

I read this a couple days ago and was confused. I read it again now and am still confused. Is the ruleset horribly confusing or am I just not reading it right?

Skirmish the 4th: The Final Chapter

Clucky wins an Artistry Skirmish with a Skirmish Rating of 18 (Chivalrybean 12, aaronwinborn 10, Amnistar Jack and spikebrennan 4, lots of zeroes, Yoda and Rodlen negative, Bahro -25) even though the expected artistic assistance from Heimdall was absent.
Abe Lincoln becomes female.
Emperor Norton causes Bahro to lose a single Acorn.
Interference from Frigg (making demands on Jack) and Heimdall (assisting Clucky) are not enough to prevent Ragnar Lodbrok from successfully bullying Clucky into surrendering half of the Acorn prize to Jack.
William Jennings Bryan and Bill Gates (both owned by Bahro!) are tied for the lowest Artistry, with -10 each (after accounting for a whopping -6 penalty due to Thor), so no Einherjar go to Folkvangr.

Story Post: Yggdrasil Challenge: Idun has been kidnapped!

Summary: Thjazi has kidnapped Idun.  Loki feels guilty that he has cause this and has asked you to help him bring her back.  You and Loki successfully rescue Idun, but Thjazi spotted you as you were trying to get away and is giving chase.  Loki does not know what to do, so it is up to you to figure out a way out of this mess.

Challenge Rating: 8 (due to the split-second timing and intense pressure)

Reward: You and Loki return safely with Idun and Loki endows gives you 20 Acorns, 5 Experience, and a one-time permanent increase of +1 to all negative numerical statistics.
Penalty: You and Loki are captured and Idun is returned to captivity.  You (not your Valkyrie, just you) are ignored for the purposes of Skirmishes until 7 days pass, or a successful attempt at this challenge is made, whichever comes first.  This effect can be tracked on the Einherjar wiki page for easy referencing.

**EDIT: I changed the penalty before any comments were made.  If this was illegal, please let me know.**

Proposal: No Sneaking

Self Killed!—Clucky

Adminned at 15 Dec 2007 11:51:22 UTC

In the rule Yggdrasil, append the following text to the last paragraph:

When a Einherjar passes or fails a challenge, the Allfather shall send a message to the Valkyrie who made the attempted Challenge Post. The Valkyrie shall then post a short story of how the Einherjar passed or failed the challenge. If the Allfather has not already updated the GNDT and any other relevant documents with the effects of the Einherjar’s passing or failing of the challenge, the any Valkyrie may do so.

Doesn’t do much but allow for more flavor to the challenges.

A Penalty Challenged Challenge

Is Ride of the Valkyries still a valid challenge with the new rules update? It was legal at it’s post time. Has Yoda’s attempt been processed?

Add to the end of the sentence in the rule “Buyouts” that reads “If the Allfather eventually transfers this Einherjar from the Unrecruited Einherjar list to a high bidder’s list (as described in the Rule “Recruiting”), the Debtor gains the same number of Acorns that were subtracted from the highest bidder (as described in the Rule “Recruiting”)” the text ” and the Debtor’s name and the parentheses are removed after the Einherjar’s name.”

Change “Loki’s list” to “Folkvangr’s list”.

Remove the name of any Valkyrie and the parentheses from any Einherjar not currently on the “Unrecruited Einherjar” list.

Proposal: You win some, you lose some

Reached Quorum 9-0 - Enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 12 Dec 2007 22:13:54 UTC

If Experience from Challenges or Penalty for losing a challenge have passed, repeal their effects.

In the rule Yggdrasil, change the text

and the prize, which is an amount of acorns.

to

and the prize, which may contain a positive amount of acorns, a positive amount of experience, a positive statistic modifier that may be temporary or permanent, or some other temporary or permanent positive effect that only directly effects the Einherjar who is attempting the challenge (but it may indirectly effect other things, such as some Special Abilities sway the outcome of a skirmish).

Insert the following text before the sentence that that says “All Challenge Posts are subject to the Allfather’s approval.”

A Challenge Post shall also contain a Penalty. A penalty can contain the following: A negative amount of acorns, a negative amount of experience, a negative statistic modifier that may be temporary or permanent, some other temporary or permanent negative effect that only directly effects the Einherjar who is attempting the challenge (but it may indirectly effect other things, such as some Special Abilities sway the outcome of a skirmish).

Change the text

If the attempt fails, the attempting Einherjar may not again attempt a Challenge Post until the next week.

to

If the attempt fails, the Einherjar suffers the effects of the Penalty stated in the Challenge Post. If the Allfather rolled a 1 or 2 in the DICE10 roll, and the Einherjar failed the attempt, the attempting Einherjar may not again attempt a Challenge Post until the next week

The more free form rewards and penalties can be blocked before they come into effect because no one can pass or fail a Challenge without the Allfather’s intervention, much like the special abilities of the nominated Einherjar.

suggestion (not a proposal) re: Einherjar page

Some people have made an effort to include summary tables in the Einherjar page that set forth the Einherjar statistics for each Valkyrie’s Einherjar.  These aren’t that up-to-date, and in many cases they have errors in them.

Allow me to suggest that the Allfather, and the Allfather alone, should monkey with these tables.  (I note that they don’t seem to have any gamestate effect in and of themselves and, I guess, are really just for the convenience of the Allfather.)  As long as we’re discussing this issue, the tables also ought to indicate a note of which god the Valkyrie supports, and the number and type of adjustment [dice] that result from that.

Proposal: The Giving Yggdrasil

Timed out. Passed 3-4-0. Enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 10 Dec 2007 11:30:37 UTC

I tried to find something that fit in better with the theme, but this was the best I could find. I’ll try to write it so that if someone finds a more thematic implimentation, changing it will be easy.

Add a new rule called Yggdrasil. It shall cointain the following text

Einherjar can attempt challenges at the Yggdrasil by entering a mystical portal.
There is a type of post called a Challange Post. A Challenge Post is an optional event that a Valkyrie may send one Einherjar to. The Einherjar attempts to pass the challenge using a statistic. A challange post may be made weekly by any Valkyrie by making a story post that has a title starting with “Yggdrasil Challenge:” A Challenge Post consists of a summery, which states what the challenge is, a Challenge Rating, which is a number from 1 to 10, and the prize, which is an amount of acorns. All Challenge Posts are subject to the Allfather’s approval. In any Challenge Post the Allfather may cast an ::against:: vote along with a change to any portion of the Challenge Post. The Allfather then shall those changes into the original post. The Allfather can also cast a Veto vote and the Challenge Post shall have no effect at all.

After a Challenge Post has been made, any Valkyrie other than the one who made the challenge post may once send any one Einherjar they own to the Challenge. This is done by first rolling a DICE8 in the GDNT alongside one Einherjar the Valkyrie owns. Using the resulting number, the Valkyrie shall count from the top of the list of Statistics in the Einherjar rule in the Rule set and select the number they stop on when the reach the rolled number. The selected Statistic shall be the statistic the Einherjar shall use when attempting the challenge. Then the Valkyrie shall make a comment in the Challenge Post declaring which Einherjar they are sending (the one mentioned in the GNDT roll) and which statistic they are using. Included in this post shall be a story of how the Einherjar attempts to the that statistic in the challenge. This is called the Challenge Attempt.

If the attempt fails, the attempting Einherjar may not again attempt a Challenge Post until the next week.

Example:
Challenge Post: Bar Fight

In a seedy bar in the pirate haven of Tortuga,  find yourself in the middle of a brawl!
Prize: 10 acorns
Challenge Rating: 6

Attempt example:

Choose: Charles Schults Roll: 4 (moxie) How: Charles uses the best moves he can muster to jsut plain get outta the bar unharmed!

Allfather sees that Moxie is 0 and Challenge Rating is 6, rolles a 2, sees that the How isn’t too inventive, and will the poor roll, decides that poor Charles gets knocked out and fails the challenge.

Question

If I want to make a new Einherjar, do I still post it in the sticky post up top, even thoguht it’s older?

Proposal: Sorry, Albert, the gods do play dice.

Timed Out and reached quorum. Passed 8-3. Enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 10 Dec 2007 07:27:33 UTC

Rewrite the rule “Aesir”, together with its subrule “List of Gods”, so that it reads as follows:

The Aesir
While each Valkyrie supports the Allfather above all other gods, if a Valkyrie is currently supporting “None”, e may choose to support an additional god buy updating eir section of the GNDT in the column marked “Supported God” to any of the gods listed in the subrule titled “List of Gods”. Each god has a statistic for every Einherjar statistic besides tinkering. During skirmishes, the relevant statistics of the god whom the Valkyrie is currently supporting are calculated by the Allfather (separately for each Valkyrie for whom adjustments are required under this rule), and added or subtracted, as appropriate, to the relevant statistics for each of eir Einherjar—this is allowed to push the value of a statistic over +10 or below -10 for the purposes of that skirmish.

By default, all Valkyries support “None”. As weekly action, a Valkyrie may change eir support of a god back to “None”. E may then support a different god as outlined in the above paragraph.

[edit] List of Gods
None: Provides no statistical benefits or hindrances.
Thor: Combat: +((3DICE3)-3), Charisma: +((1DICE3)-1), Scholasticism: -((1DICE3)-1), Artistry: -((3DICE3-3)
Baldr: Mysticism: +((2DICE3)-2), Scholasticism: +((2DICE3)-2), Combat: -((2DICE3)-2), Wit: -((2DICE3)-2)
Loki: Wit: +((3DICE3)-3), Moxie: +((1DICE3)-1), Mysticism: -((2DICE3)-2), Charisma: -((2DICE3)-2)
Frigg: Artistry: +((2DICE3)-2), Charisma: +((1DICE3)-1), Wit: -((1DICE3)-1) Combat: -((2DICE3)-2),
Heimdall: Combat: +((1DICE3)-1), Artistry: +((1DICE3)-1), Moxie, -((1DICE3)-1), Scholatism: -((1DICE3)-1)

Proposal: The Gods’ Minions (Revised)

Timed out and Failed 0-1-5. The gods continue to play nice. Failed by Chivalrybean.

Adminned at 10 Dec 2007 07:16:20 UTC

Add a subrule to “The Aesir” called “God Wars” with the following text:

If the Allfather has not done so in the past 7 days, the Allfather may roll two DICEX, where X is the number of gods listed in the rule “List of Gods”.  If both dice come up the same number, the Allfather will keep rolling two DICEX until they come up different numbers.  The Allfather then makes a story post announcing that the corresponding gods, found by counting down from the top of the list in the “List of Gods” rule, are about to enter combat and that each side must prepare for battle.  This is called a Declaration of War.

During this period, no changes may be made to the “Supported God” field of any Valkyrie in the GNDT and no training skirmishes may take place.

After at least 36 but no more than 72 hours, the Allfather shall roll DICEY, where Y is the number of numerical Einherjar statistics, with a comment of “God War check”.  The corresponding statistic, found by counting down from the top of the list in the “Statistics” rule, is the “Challenged” statistic.  Each god shall then have their Skirmish Rating calculated.  This is the total of the Challenged Statistics for each of the Valkyrie’s Einherjar who support that god.  The statistical benefits and hindrances that each god brings still apply to each Einherjar.  If one or both of the gods engaged in combat does not have any Valkyries supporting them, their Skirmish Rating shall be the statistical benefit or hindrance that god would bring to a single Einherjar’s Challenged Statistic.

The god with the lower Skirmish Rating is said to have lost the war and the god with the higher Skirmish Rating is said to have won the war.

Each Valkyrie who supports the god who lost the war shall have one of her Einherjar, picked at random, moved to the “Digraced Einherjar” list.

Each Valkyrie who supports the god who won the war shall receive 25 Acorns and Z experience, where Z is the number of Einherjar owned by that Valkyrie times 5.

After having calculated these results and made the changes required, the Allfather should make a story post summarising them and describing the details of the war.

The statistic “Tinkering” is ignored for purposes of God Wars.

If it has been at least 72 hours since the Declaration of War and the war has not taken place, the gods are said to have settled peacefully and no war will take place.

Skirmish 3: The Return of Charisma

Notes on the most recent skirmish:

Pharoh Necho gets -2 and +1 to Charisma from his abilities.
Loki gives -2 to Charisma for each of Clucky’s Einherjar; Churchill raises Shakespeare and Hildegard to his level.
Totaling up the Skirmish Ratings, Asgard clearly beats Folkvangr, and aaronwinborn has the highest, with 21 (Bahro 20 Amnistar 12 Clucky 12 Darknight 10, etc.)
There is a tie for lowest Charisma in Asgard (Rasputin and Schulz each have -2), so no one is set to be transferred to Folkvangr.
Lola’s ability does not go off, as Yoda would not benefit.
I have to make a judgment call on whether Siddhartha’s and Nellie’s special attributes trigger (They say that they only have an effect if doing so “would cause [aaronwinborn] to win the Skirmish”, since aaronwinborn is already due to win the skirmish.  I say: no, they don’t trigger.  From context, it is clear that they are meant to help their owners win Skirmishes that they would not otherwise win, and that this is why the “would cause owner to win” clause is worded the way it is.
Lastly, His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Norton I of these United States, and Protector of Mexico, causes Bahro to lose 6 Acorns.

For completeness’s sake, let’s look at what would have happened if we entertain the possibility of Siddhartha’s or Nellie’s abilities triggering.
Siddhartha’s ability would cause Emperor Norton and Jeanne to each have their Charisma swapped with their Mysticism.  In particular, this would cause Emperor Norton’s Charisma to become 0, and therefore (by Norton’s ability) would cause all Einherjar (everywhere) to have zero (or less) Charisma.  This would not result in aaronwinborn winning the skirmish, so this ability definitely won’t trigger.
Nellie Bly’s ability would cause her to become Insane, and give her even higher stats.  aaronwinborn still would have won (by a higher margin), and nothing really would be different, except that Nellie Bly would currently be starting her 10 days of faking insanity.

If the proposal “The Gods’ Minions” passes, change the sentence that reads “All Einherjar owned by a Valkyrie who supports the god who lost the war shall be moved to the “Disgraced Einherjar” list.” to “A random Einherjar owned by each Valkyrie who supports the god who lost the war shall be moved to the “Digraced Einherjar” list.”

Kidnapped!

Otto Skorzeny has successfully carried out Operation Armored Desktop, kidnapping Bill Gates from Yoda.

Someone correct me if I am doing any of this wrong, I’m not entirely sure. Also, I don’t have a wiki password, so I can’t move the Einherjar. Furthermore, what happens to the device?

Proposal: The Gods’ Minions

self-killed - Failed by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 07 Dec 2007 07:33:30 UTC

All Einherjar owned by a Valkyrie who supports the god who lost the war shall be moved to the “Disgraced Einherjar” list.

Jack has arrived!

Greetings to all.  I am Jack, and I have arrived.

Proposal: Actual Proposal This Time

Reached Quorum 8-0-0 - Enacted by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 05 Dec 2007 08:41:48 UTC

Add a new rule to the ruleset, call it “The Aesir” and give it the following text:

While each Valkyrie supports the Allfather above all other gods, if a Valkyrie is currently supporting “None”, e may choose to support an additional god buy updating eir section of the GNDT in the column marked “Supported God” to any of the gods listed in the subrule titled “List of Gods”. Each god has a statistic for every Einherjar statistic besides tinkering. During skirmishes, the statistics of the god whom the Valkyrie is currently supporting are added to the statistics for each of eir Einherjar—this is allowed to push the value of a statistic over +10 or below -10 for the purposes of that skirmish.

By default, all Valkyries support “None”. As weekly action, a Valkyrie may change eir support of a god back to “None”. E may then support a different god as outlined in the above paragraph.

Add a subrule to this rule called “List of Gods”

*None: Provides no statistical benefits or hindrances.
  *Thor: Combat: +3, Charisma: +1, Scholasticism: -1, Artistry: -3
  *Baldr: Mysticism: +2, Scholasticism: +2, Combat: -2, Wit: -2
  *Loki: Wit: +3, Moxie: +1, Mysticism: -2, Charisma: -2
  *Frigg: Artistry: +2, Charisma: +1, Wit: -1 Combat: -2,
  *Heimdall: Combat: +1, Artistry: +1, Moxie, -1, Scholatism: -1

Story Post: Lola Montez found Lacking

The Esteemed Ron Hubbard went and looked at the accounts of one Lola Montez and found something disturbing.  She had been using acorns from Yoda’s private stash to fund an illegal underground gambling ring.  Luckily Ron found the ring and put an end to these activities, taking a small portion of Yoda’s acorns as a service Fee.

Proposal: Preparing for chancy things

self-killed - Failed by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 04 Dec 2007 22:12:37 UTC

If “Combat is a chancy thing” passes, then as promptly as possible after the enactment of that proposal, the Allfather shall make any changes to the Einherjar wiki page that he deems necessary or appropriate to conform it to the “Training Skirmishes” rule as amended.

For the purpose of ensuring that this is a valid proposal, add a new dynastic subrule entitled “Null”, reading “This sentence has no game effect and can be ignored”.

Adding the Æsir?

Idea for a rule… don’t like everything about it in its current form, but it would nice to get some other god’s in the picture:

Add a new rule to the ruleset, call it “The Aesir” and give it the following text:

Proposal: Combat is a chancy thing

Veto’d by Hix. Failed by Chivalrybean

Adminned at 04 Dec 2007 22:06:26 UTC

Part 1:

Rewrite “Training Skirmishes” as follows:

As a Daily Action, the Allfather may announce that a Skirmish has taken place in perperation for the Final Battle.

A Skirmish is announced by first rolling DICEX in the GNDT, where “X” is the number of numerical Einherjar Statistics, and where the roll has a comment of “Skirmish Check”. The number rolled shall be used to determine which of the numerical Einherjar Statistics is relevant to the Skirmish, by counting down from the top of the list in the “Statistics” rule - this Statistic is the “Challenged” Statistic.

Each Einherjar who has a Challenged Statistic that is not equal to zero will have their Skirmish Rating for the Skirmish calculated by the Allfather.  Each Einherjar’s Skirmish Rating is calculated as follows:
*  If the Einherjar’s Challenged Statistic is a positive number (X), then the Einherjar’s Skirmish Rating for the Skirmish is equal to XDICE10.
*  If the Einherjar’s Challenged Statistic is a negative number -(X), then the Einherjar’s Skirmish Rating for the Skirmish is equal to ((XDICE10) minus (*** times X).
By way of example, if an Einherjar’s Challenged Statistic is +6, then the Einherjar’s Skirmish Rating for the Skirmish is 6DICE10; and if an Einherjar’s Challenged Statistic is (-6), then the Einherjar’s Skirmish Rating for the Skirmish is (6DICE10) - (6 times ***).

The Skirmish Rating of each Einherjar who belongs to Fólkvangr who does not have a Challenged Statistic equal to 0 shall be calculated in the same manner.

Einherjar who have a Challenged Statistic of 0 are deemed not to have participated in the Skirmish.

If an Einherjar belonging to Fólkvangr has the highest Skirmish Rating among all Einherjar who participated in the Skirmish, then the Skirmish is lost, all Valkyries lose 20 Acorns, and the single Einherjar currently in Fólkvangr with the lowest Skirmish Rating who participated in the Skirmish (if one exists) has fallen, and is transferred to the “Unrecruited Einherjar” list to ensure fairness in future training exercises.

If an Einherjar belonging to an Active Valkyrie has the highest Skirmish Rating among all Einherjar who participated in the Skirmish, then that Valkyrie is triumphant in that Skirmish and receives 10 Acorns, and the Einherjar belonging to an Active Valkyrie who had the lowest Skirmish Rating among all Einherjar who participated in the Skirmish has fallen, and is transferred to Fólkvangr’s section of the Einherjar page to ensure fairness in future training exercises.

If two or more Einherjar tie for the highest or for the lowest Skirmish Rating among Einherjar who participated in the Skirmish, those two Einherjar are deemed to be “Locked in Single Combat”.  The Allfather shall re-calculate the Skirmish Ratings of the Einherjar who are Locked in Single Combat, and the Einherjar with the highest re-calculated Skirmish Rating is deemed to have the highest Skirmish Rating (if before the re-calculation they were tied for highest) or to not have the lowest Skirmish Rating (if before the re-calculation they were tied for lowest), and the Einherjar with the lowest re-calculated Skirmish Rating is deemed (or also deemed, in the case of an Einherjar who was tied for the highest Skirmish Rating before the re-calculation) to have fallen and shall be transferred to Fólkvangr’s section of the Einherjar page to ensure fairness in future training exercises.

After having calculated these results and made the changes required, the Allfather should post a blog entry summarising them.

The statistic “Tinkering” is ignored for purposes of Skirmishes.

Part 2:
If Hix votes in favor of this Proposal, then replace *** with whatever numerical value Hix includes in his vote.  If Hix does not vote in favor of this Proposal, then replace *** with 6.

Explanatory notes:
- Under the current ruleset, the Valkyrie whose Einherjar sum to the highest Challenged Statistic wins, without any element of chance.  This adds the element of chance—in theory, an Einherjar with a very low (or even negative) Challenged Statistic could sometimes win.
- Under this proposal, Skirmish Ratings are calculated for each _Einherjar_ who participates in the Skirmish, not for each _Valkyrie_.  Owning more Einherjar can give a Valkyrie a higher chance that an Einherjar owned by that Valkyrie will win, but having a bigger team is not an absolute advantage.
- Einherjar who have a Challenged Statistic of zero do not participate inn the Skirmish—this cuts down on the number of dice that Hix has to roll.
- An Einherjar who ties for first can still lose the “Single Combat” and become Fallen in the skirmish.
- With respect to rolling the dice, I believe that the expected value of XDICE10-6X is a negative number (I left a placeholder so that Hix can tweak this).  The idea is that with respect to an Einherjar with a low negative Challenged Statistic, rolling more dice should result in a lower number, but it should still be possible in theory for an Einherjar with a Challenged Statistic of (-10) to have a Skirmish Value of as high as (10DICE10 -10 times (six?)), or 40, which could possibly be enough to win.

Move the Einherjar Hypatia and Roman Ungern von Sternberg to Fólkvangr.

Einherjar candidates Date: 3 December

This means that lots of new recruits are available.  They all have special attributes, so please check the wording and report any anomalies.

Oh, and please bid on them!  We’ve just had another (rather good, in my opinion) Einherjar sell for 1 Acorn.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve used that lyric to go idle before. Quorum doesn’t do anything terribly exciting at all.

Story Post: Eureka!

Bill Gates has successfully tinkered and has gained 1 device point.

Through much trial and toil, he has developed a device that looks like a simple necklace but endows its wearer with increased knowledge of combat techniques.  However, this knowledge comes at a price: moxie.

I suggest that this device be called the “Combat Necklace” and its special ability be as follows:

As a weekly action, the Valkyrie who owns the Einherjar who holds this device may simultaneously decrease the Einherjar’s Moxie by 1 point and raise the Einherjar’s Combat by 1 point.  If the Einherjar’s Moxie is -10 or its Combat +10, this ability cannot be used.

Proposal: Back on Track

Passes 9-1. Enacted by Clucky

Adminned at 03 Dec 2007 08:02:31 UTC

If either of the proposal “Freyja’s Armies” passes, this proposal does nothing.

Repel the rules “The final battle” and “Loki”.

Add a rule called “Training Skirmishes” which says the following

As a Daily Action, the Allfather may announce that a Skirmish has taken place in perperation for the Final Battle.

A Skirmish is announced by first rolling DICEX in the GNDT, where “X” is the number of numerical Einherjar Statistics, and where the roll has a comment of “Skirmish Check”. The number rolled shall be used to determine which of the numerical Einherjar Statistics is relevant to the Skirmish, by counting down from the top of the list in the “Statistics” rule - this Statistic is the “Challenged” Statistic.

Each Valkyrie who has recruited one or more Einherjar shall then have their Skirmish Ratings calculated - this is the total of the Challenged Statistics for each of that Valkyrie’s Einherjar.

Fólkvangr shall then have its Skirnish Rating calculated - this is the total of the Challenged Statistics for each of Fólkvangr’s Einherjar.

If Fólkvangr’s Skirmish Rating is higher than the combined Skirmish Rating of all Active Valkyries, then the Skirmish is lost, and all Valkyries lose 20 Acorns. The single Einherjar currently in Fólkvangr with the lowest value for the Challenged Statistic (if one exists) has fallen, and is transferred to the “Unrecruited Einherjar” list to ensure fairness in future training exercises.

If Fólkvangr’s Skirmish Rating is not higher than the combined Skirmish Rating of all Active Valkyries, then the single Valkyrie with the highest Skirmish Rating (if one exists) is triumphant, and receives 10 Acorns. The single Einherjar currently in Asgard with the lowest value for the Challenged Statistic (if one exists) has fallen, and is transferred to Fólkvangr’s section of the Einherjar page to ensure fairness in future training exercises.

After having calculated these results and made the changes required, the Allfather should post a blog entry summarising them, and also describing the opponent that the Einherjar faced.

The statistic “Tinkering” is ignored for purposes of Skirmishes.

In the rule “Recruiting” replace

If there are no (non-retracted) bids on the Einherjar, then the Einherjar is added to the list of Einherjar recruited by Loki.

with

If there are no (non-retracted) bids on the Einherjar, then the Einherjar is added to the list of Einherjar currently in Fólkvangr.

Add a rule called “Locations”

There exists an entity Fólkvangr that is not the Allfather or a Valkyrie but still may still have a section in the Einherjar page.

An Einherjar may be located in either Asgard, Fólkvangr or neither. If the Einherjar is recruited by an Valkyrie or the Allfather, then it is said to be located in Asgard. If the Einherjar is recruited by Fólkvangr, it is said to be located in Fólkvangr. If the Einherjar is in the “Unrecruited Einherjar” or “Disgraced Einherhar” list, then it is said to be located in neither.

Anywhere it appears in the ruleset, replace “Dead” with “Disgraced”

I know this is a lot of minor changes, but here is my reasoning for doing it:

Currently the dynasty is far off track from actual Norse Mythology. While this isn’t really a problem(for example, the Einherjar actually fight eachother, not those from Folkvangr in the training skirmishes), basically we were fighting the final battle in a manner totally not epic enough for the final battle. To me at least, it makes for sense for this to be the training exercises for the final battle. Secondly, the Loki change. Loki is a God, Einherjar fighting Loki would result in Loki pwning. Also Fighting Loki in training exercises doesn’t fit, so the change the training exercises requires fixing Loki. Finally, Einherjar don’t die. They always get revived at the end of the battle. However, the death mechanic could be useful, so might as well keep it in there under a different name. Also, if the Freyja proposal passes then I’ll just give up and fixing this dynasty and realize that it’ll be Norse in name and people only.

Proposal: Battles

s/k, failed by aaronwinborn

Adminned at 02 Dec 2007 10:22:53 UTC

If the Proposal: “Freyja’s Armies” doesn’t pass, then this proposal does nothing.

Add a sub-rule to “The Final Battle” rule named “Battles” with the following text:

Once per week, if Freyja and Loki each possess at least one army, the Allfather may declare a Battle. As with a skirmish, one numerical Statistic (excluding Tinkering) shall be randomly chosen to Battle. The Valkyrie-owned Einherjar with the highest value of the Challenged Statistic shall, as Captain, lead a random army of Freyja, and shall battle a random army of Loki’s, led by Loki’s Einherjar with the highest value of the Challenged Statistic. The Captain Einherjars’ values of the Challenged Statistics are compared, and if one is higher than the other, then the Captain Einherjar and Army with the higher Challenged Statistic shall be declared the Winner, and the other the Loser. If the Challenged Statistics are tied in value, then the Battle is declared a Draw, and neither Captain or Army is declared Winner or Loser.

If the Battle not a Draw, then the Winning army of the battle shall receive a number of points in its Battle Experience equal to the difference in the Captains’ Challenged Statistics’ values. If the Battle is a Draw, then both armies shall each receive 1 point in Battle Experience.

If the Winning Einherjar Captain is owned by a Valkyrie, then that Valkyrie shall be awarded 25 acorns, and shall also be awarded Experience as per a Skirmish in the “Experience” rule. If the Losing Einherjar Captain is owned by a Valkyrie, then that Valkyrie shall be penalized 25 acorns, even if that results in a negative number of acorns. No award or penalty shall be assigned in the result of a Draw.

Proposal: Freyja’s Armies

s/k, failed by aaronwinborn

Adminned at 02 Dec 2007 10:22:21 UTC

In the “Einherjar candidates” rule, and anywhere else it appears, change the text “Einherjar candidates Date:X” to read “Discoveries and Einherjar candidates Date:X”.

Add a rule named “Freyja” with the following text:

There exists an entity Freyja that is not the Allfather or a Valkyrie. Freyja may, however, have a section in the Einherjar page.

Add a rule named “Armies” with the following text:

Armies are built of animals, creatures, and monsters of the Norse mythos. Each class of army is tracked on the Einherjar page, under the sections for Loki and Freyja, along with any Special Attributes, the value of Battle Experience (which always starts at 0), and any other Attributes, Statistics, or Values directed by the ruleset.

An army may possess up to three Special Attributes, following the same guidelines as for Einherjar in the Special Attributes sub-rule of the Einherjar rule.

Once per week, a Valkyrie may discover an army, by posting a comment to the stickied “Discoveries & Einherjar Candidates” post with the phrase, “I discovered [army]”, with a link to a web page describing it, and where [army] is a type of animal, creature, or monster of the Norse mythos that has not already been discovered.

At any time, the Allfather may create a discovered army from a relevant post, assigning it to Freyja or Loki as he sees fit, and recording it in the proper section.

Add the following text to the “Checks and Balances” rule:

The Allfather may, at any time, destroy an Army from the Loki’s or Freyja’s list of armies. The army ceases to exist, and the Allfather may create and assign a new army from the same post as the original.
