Proposal: A Deal Post

Add a new rule, “Space Economics” with the following text:-

Each Deal Post is considered Gamestate.

As it pertains to a Deal Post, the shuttle that made the Deal Post is the Offering Shuttle. Any shuttle that has commented on the Deal Post is a Buying Shuttle.

A Deal Post is either Open or Closed, but not both. At the time of its creation, the Deal Post is considered Open. If at any time while the Deal Post is Open, the shuttle no longer possesses any of the thrusters named in X, the Deal Post becomes Closed and remains Closed even if the shuttle later regains those thrusters. Any Deal Post with a comment by the Offering Shuttle of the form “This Deal Post is now closed.” is Closed.

As a weekly action, any shuttle may make a Deal Post with no category and a title of the form Sale: X, where X is any subset of thrusters that the shuttle possesses at the time of the Deal Post.

After the Deal Post has been made and as long as the Deal Post is Open, any other shuttle that is in the same orbit as the first shuttle may respond with a comment of the form Offer: Y, where Y is some amount of iron, sulphur, and/or ice with the recommended input form “One Iron, Two Sulphur” or “1 Iron, 3 Sulphur, 1 Ice”, etc.

Then, as long as the Deal Post is Open and there is a Buying Shuttle that possesses all of the materials it has offered that is in the same orbit as the Offering Shuttle, the first shuttle may update the GNDT by transferring X from the Offering Shuttle to the Buying Shuttle, transferring Y from the Buying Shuttle to the Offering Shuttle, and responding to the Deal Post with the comment “This Deal Post is now closed.” The Buying Shuttle must be the same shuttle in all instances of this paragraph. If there are different possible values for Y, Y is the instance of Y from the comment of the form Offer: Y made by the Buying Shuttle.

If you guys have any technical problems with the way this is written, you can put it in Note: form with no voting icon and I will get around to it. Note: form can also be an effective way to discuss without voting and a way to allow me to change the Proposal to reflect the discussion.

for .  Note that it’s impossible to trade for a Shuttle’s last engine due to one of the ‘Numbers and Variables’ Glossary points.

This is a bit sloppy; the instructions for making a Deal Post should be at the start of the rule.

against Trading doesn’t feel particularly necessary, and just opens up the incentive to recruit third parties and little brothers to sign up to BlogNomic, hand over all their stuff and idle out.

Kevan, would people really do that?

It happens. Not for small change, but if you’re looking at the gamestate and realising that you could beat somebody to a close victory right now if you only had another DICE4 Thruster, it’s tempting to ask a nearby friend to help out, or coax an idle player out of retirement. Humans who aren’t active players are just another resource, if the ruleset allows them to be.

for considering it takes effort to get your friend to the same orbit as you.

CoV against per Kevan.

Oh, I’d misunderstood “same orbit” as meaning “going around the same moon” - requiring the same exact position does make this trickier. But it seems like that also makes it too tricky to actually be of any use.
