Proposal: A Mind of its Own

Reaches 2-3 and can’t hit quorum, therefore it fails. - SingularByte

Append the following steps to the Passing Time Atomic Action:

* If the Destination list is empty and the System of Control is not Defective, add one random Location to the Destination list.
* If the System of Control is not Destroyed, Operate one random Facility as if you were a Machinist, making all associated decisions at random and ignoring requirements and effects of its Function that would refer to an Operating Machinist’s personal gamestate variables.

two ways in which the System of Control actually Controls the Machine. i intend to add effects to the different Surroundings in the future, to disincentivise allowing the Machine to wander at random!

adds ~394 characters.

I’m not sure if I like the idea of a Megasystem being Destroyed as the cause for another Megasystem to start getting more Damaged Parts.

Also, the Brevity rule is enforced now that we’re past Initialisation Phase Two. This adds far more than 400 characters of text.

it has been shortened & edited to slip under the Brevity restrictions!

This does weaken the first bullet point of passing time by ensuring that even if nobody bothers with a destination, you still have one half the time.

that it does. the first draft of this proposal addressed that by adding texture to the different Locations (making a couple of them more dangerous) which would incentivise making sure u guide the Machine instead of letting it do its own thing! i still plan to propose something to that effect :0

against The second step is too vague, in that it doesn’t require the random Facility to be operable in the first place and it’s unclear what happens if it selects one that isn’t.
