Proposal: Adding more exposition

Times out 4-0. Enacted by pokes.

Adminned at 27 May 2017 14:06:13 UTC

Change ” Adventurer: ” and “Scholar:” in “Backgrounds” to

Adventurer: An adventurer is experienced and efficient in their resources. An Adventurer does not suffer the cost increase effects of Very Cold rules.
Scholar: The Scholar is well researched into obscure literature and the occult. A Scholar that is not also a Cultist knows one word of the Creed.

I’m holding off on other backrounds until more mechanics are added in.

I like it, but I wonder if simply stating that they know it is enough.

The Scholar’s ability seems strictly worse than the Cultist’s though.

I like the Adventurer’s ability a lot though, that one is a good one.

The Scholar could be okay compared to Cultists if, say, Cultists can’t win if a certain number are identified correctly.

Ah, in that context, then it would be pretty good.

I think we need a public certification process for abilities that are necessarily public, such as for example, ignoring cold.

I dont think the Scholar would need this though. I made a post suggesting the certification process for Handymen.

[pokes] Of course we couldn’t allow Sphinx to identify Cultists, since they know who is and isn’t one. We also couldn’t allow people to make multiple accusations because then someone could just accuse each player of being a cultist.

for @card there could be a formal process for accusation, at which point we find out if it’s correct, with a high penalty for the accuser if wrong or something.

A cabal of scholars trying to ferret out the cultists! I like it!

I wonder if we should have an additional discreet tracker system (on top of gndt, or maybe on slack) to randomize, disseminate and record discreet data, considering all the secrecy that might be involved.
