Proposal: And another thing…

To the Keywords section of the Glossary, add the following:

Midnight: Midnight is the exact instant of 00:00:00. One day ends and the next begins at exactly midnight. Since midnight is an instant, even if the time reads 00:00:00, it is counted as being after midnight.

Because it’s ridiculous that we can no longer use “midnight” in our rules.

against  The concept of an instant will cause trouble anyway. Make it the entire minute.

@Darth: Your definition seems to be the troublesome one here… Still, the last Midnight Crisis was contentious enough. My personal favoured fix would be to distinguish between a second (e.g. all times that are 00:00:00) and an instant (the moment at which the time becomes 00:00:00), then define midnight to be the instant, and state that times in the second 00:00:00 are always part of the day “after midnight”, and that times in the second 23:59:59 (or 23:59:60 on a leap second day) are part of the day “before midnight”.

against because this definition makes it ridiculously unclear what “midnight on Wednesday” means.

I knew I was forgetting something. But that is a small fix that I will propose after this passes.

Ienpw III: Do you agree to Darth, to ais or to both? And why don‘t S/K you this Proposal, if you see problems?

Anyway, against per ais.

I wasn’t even here for midnight crisis, and I’m still sick of this. Current definition of Day is absolutely sufficient, and if for some reason you *really* need to refer to midnight, you can say 00:00:00.
