Proposal: Aren’t workshops typically used to repair things?

Enacted 9-0. Josh

To the rule “Bot Loadout” add a subrule “Repair Wrench” that reads:

As an atomic action, when their readiness is set to workshop, an operator may:
*Set the condition of any part on their bot or in their spare parts bin to any condition higher than it previously was
*Decrease their money by the formula: ((new effective cost of the part) - (previous effective cost of the part)) * 1.25

I think this should be a thing

This should not be using the word “decrease”, although I’m not sure how relevent of an issue that is. It was a pretty big one last dynasty, however.

against Unfortunately, due to the exact wording.

While using standardised wording is better, it’s hard to see an actual application for “decrease” not having a ruleset definition, when the standard English meaning is so strong.  imperial

The issue with using “decrease” specifically in my opinion is that could result in negatives, unless something in the appendix prevents that? If so, I’ll happily vote for.

“If a set of valid values is not specified in their definition, game variables defined to hold numeric values can hold only non-negative integers”

From the rule Numbers and Variables

Besides, doesn’t “pay” everywhere else have the same issue?

No; the fourth clause of Numbers and Variables sets out what “...to “spend,” “pay” or “lose” an amount…” means

Honestly Numbers and Variables is a really important rule, I know the appendix is a complete mess but the answer to almost every question is “check Numbers and Variables”

I see, well, it should be fine either way

for But I will change my vote if the appendix adjustment I just submitted seems unlikely to pass.
