Arrived

I’m interested in your game, so I’m announcing myself. But I’m slightly dubious about anyone who uses ridiculous words like ‘eir’ and other spivaks in their basic ruleset. The use of words like ‘they’ and ‘their’ to denote a single person of indeterminate sex goes back hundreds of years. There’s no need for a silly new word. It sort of makes me think that it’s populated by people who think its a good idea to make up unnessacary, inelegant and clumsy rules. While I’ve never played nomic before, that would seem to be something of a drawback.

I’ve PM’ed you your GNDT password, send me a note if you didn’t get it.

Submit a proposal to remove the Spivak!

However, the Spivak is unambiguous, which is always seen as a positive by the Rule Lawyers among us.

I’m a big proponent of singular they and the spivaks always seemed a bit silly to me, but jeez, way to be diplomatic and polite when meeting a group of new people, fidelio.

I thought the same thing when I read your intro post—post a proposal re: grammar and I might well vote on it, but what you did was the equivalent of walking into a room of strangers and shouting “What’s the matter with you people?”

I think it is a good idea though.

Not the best way to introduce yourself to a new game, perhaps?

In the event, I agree, but still.
