Replace the paragraph in the rule “Conclaves” that begins “If a Conclave has received a Ballot from every Cardinal…” with the following:

If a Conclave has received a Ballot from every Cardinal, then any Scrutineer may resolve it: if more than two thirds of the Ballots on that Conclave named the same Cardinal, then the Scrutineer announces that white smoke has been released; otherwise the Scrutineer announces that dark smoke has been released.

• When a Scrutineer announces in this way that dark smoke has been released, that Scrutineer must also increase each Cardinal’s Influence by x, where x is the number of Cardinals whose Ballots named the same Cardinal as theirs. For each Cardinal who was named in at least one other Cardinal’s Ballot on this Conclave, the Scrutineer must remove that elected Cardinal’s Vice.
• When a Scrutineer announces in this way that white smoke has been released, the Cardinal named in the most Ballots on that Conclave has achieved victory.
