Hmm, it seems like a mild problem that that can happen to someone who did make a tracker update recently.

I know that this has happened before, but not usually so early in a dynasty, when there are lots of proposals to vote on.

I tried my best to warn them in Discord that dynastic activity was not sufficient for the current rules.

I do think there needs to be at least a Building Block that allows performing dynastic actions to count as being “active”. That way it can be adjusted per dynasty (there may be dynasties where all dynastic actions are secret and thus would be harder to track activity).

It might be possible to just count tracker updates, or perhaps wiki edits, as activity? Most dynastic actions are going to touch the tracker in some way or another, and most of the ones that don’t are ones that we wouldn’t want to reset the idle timer (e.g. due to not being public and thus admins not knowing about them).

The usual argument against counting wiki activity for idle timeouts is that a player who doesn’t take any part in the proposal side of the game isn’t really playing Nomic, under Suber’s definition of it.

Agreed, so a Building Block would be better suited, perhaps. The Emperor can make the initial decision on how strictly they intend the players to adhere to Nomic activity, and the active players in the dynasty can adjust that as necessary.
