it’s just a flat chance of sometimes not working and i don’t think we need an entire mechanic for that

i’m not sure i like surveillance being moldable to this degree

@jumble you need a mechanic for it not working because if you can just remove surveillance the it becomes easy to just hope the location isn’t monitored.

@lemon why not? Feels like it just creates more dynamic gameplay. Right now there doesn’t seem like much point in doing stuff in surveillance locations because you’ll just earn a lot of suspicion there which renders most of the server rooms pointless. Allowing people to add/remove surveillance will open up new possibilities.

@clucky i think being able to temporarily circumvent surveillance or remove it with more effort than this would both be interesting alternatives, but being able to just reshape the facility with a 70% chance of success with only 1 suspicion and a 30% chance of failure with 5 suspicion seems like the locations with the surveillance tag would very quickly become entirely determined by the whims of the AIs! you’d think the researchers would notice if they stopped getting readings on places, too :0

Yeah, the tags would become determined based on the whims of the AIs. But I don’t see that as a bad thing.

thats fair– i just feel like thematically AIs trapped in a laboratory should have a difficult time modifying their environment :0
